Galaxy S8 PIE questions. - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Good day.
I had a really f*king disapointment with galaxy's S10 battery life, and i'm thinking in buying a Galaxy S8.
But for that i would like to ask some questions before regarding android PIE upgrade, for anyone that already have it:
1. Is the battery better or worse than Oreo?
2. Does the camera app still accept "surround shot" option? (In Nougat if you install the app "surround shot" from samsung, in the camera app it would appear an option to take 360ยบ photos)
3. Does the system still stores the fingerprint with a password, or removes it completely? (In Nougat after i registred my fingerprint and chose another unlock method, it asked if i wanted to store the fingerprint and asked for a password or samsung account password)
4. Does it have double tap to wake like S10? :fingers-crossed:
5. Does the always on clock has the option to show only with tap?
Thank you.

S7 edge unlocks from Edge screen

Hi,
Ive had my S7 edge for around 2 weeks now, love it but theres one issue...
Even though I have fingerprint unlocking activated Ive found that when its locked and I swipe the edge screen to see notifications, click on an item e.g. gear fit, the app starts up then if I press the back button im in the phone, no fingerprint required....
Anyone come across this? found a fix??
Search in "S Finder" for "Smart Lock". Maybe your location is marked as safe. Thus no need for fingerprint authentication?
Just checked and mine does the same thing. Not good. I swiped the edge screen, opened calculator and hit the back button and my phone was unlocked without ever touching the fingerprint sensor.

Disable all 'Edge Feeds' till this get fixed. Settings > Edge Screen > Edge Feeds.
maybe that only happens on fingerprint scanner only?
mine is on pattern unlock plus the fingerprint scanner and it still asks me either one when i do the steps above.
mine does not allow me in. no matter which edge app i try to use, it always asks me for password or fingerprint.
Mine doesn't do that but will open the camera app with a double tap, but locks again trying to look a the photo I just took.

Mine is the same.
That's because app quick launch is a third party edge feeds

Security Policies

Hi, im using a 3rd party app (ACdisplay) on top of my lockscreen on my 928f S6 Edge+ and whenit shows me a notification and locks the screen back i cant use my finger print to unlock it says "Cannot use fingerprint security because of security policies use password insted" and forces me to use my password to unlock. Any way to fix this without removing 3rd partys.
Device:S6 Edge+
OS:6.0.1 Stock
Xposed:Yes
Root:Yes
Kernel:Custom (Skyhigh)
That is an issue with marshmallow. I am using Double tap to sleep feature and it does the same thing. Marshmallow doesn't trust external device admins and that is why it asks for other passwords. Weird. They need to fix this soon.

Fingerprint Unlock not enough - OOS 3.0.2 requires pin when locked unconventionally

So I just upgraded to the OOS 3.0.2 MM build, and there's a new issue that's greatly annoying me. If you lock the phone with the power button, the fingerprint scanner will unlock it fine. However, if you lock it with something else (as I do with both shake-to-lock and Nova's lock actions), it will insist on ALSO asking for the pin/pattern unlock once your fingerprint has been scanned.
Anyone find a way to disable this security feature while still having a fingerprint unlock in place? Neither Gravity Box nor the security settings are presenting any obvious options
That's a feature of Android MM, not OOS. It can't be disabled.

There is no way to disable it? Even rooted? No xposed or system level hack?
It seems to be an error in design of Nova launcher and other solutions. They don't use the correct way of locking the phone hardlocking instead of softlocking, and therefore the phone will ask for pin just as if you restarted your phone.

I had same issue when i used double tap to sleep in nova launcher prime.... i is because it uses device administrator to lock phone! I fixed by using root to lock my mobile....
Long story short you need your application to use root to lock your device!
But what if the shakelock app I use (and love!) doesn't use root....? It's sounding like I'm out of luck here. How have you managed to make Nova use root to lock?
I guess I'm more of an Apex guy, don't fancy Nova launcher even though I bought it a couple of years ago. I just double tap on top part of screen to lock, or press the power button, or let it timeout. For unlocking, I just use fingerprint, no fuss, no asking for code.
I was happy with Nova Launcher (which is currently on sale for $0.99 on the Play store), until I found out that it has a bug in voice searches from the Home Screen's search bar. It annoyed the heck out of me as it kept on complaining "App not installed" when clicking on the little mic. I had to click on the search bar and THEN click on the other mic that appeared, inorder to access voice search. Defeats the purpose of the voice search b/c I use it a lot while driving and I cant be bothered to be clicking through so many hoops. So I switched my homescreen launcher to Google Now Launcher, while keeping everything else Nova Prime.
For anyone interested, I have found a sort-of solution. Using a combo of Xposed Maxlock and Lockscreen Disabler, it's possible to have a lockscreen up that you can dismiss by using the fingerprint sensor. There's a fairly obvious downside in that it doesn't matter what fingerprint hits the sensor, as anything at all unlocks the screen (which is Lockscreen Disabler's function) but it works as a way to use a non-root lock method that still allows you to unlock the screen with just a touch. Until such a time as someone finds a better solution
I'm pretty sure that it's easy to write a simple apk that uses the root method to call the screen off function. Only if someone would write that
Why I tell that - because if You double tap the status bar - the screen locks and You can easily unlock it just with the fingerprint sensor... therefore, that function does exist already in the ROM.
Yeah, I've got the Nova rooted lock function working, so those actions or GravtiyBox stuff like double tap status bar will work and not require pin+fingerprint, but my specific ask is this way to lock the screen by quickly flicking/shaking the phone (which is GREAT and I don't understand what hasn't been included in stock) - none of those seem to use root to lock so this workaround is a way to have that convenient screen off + convenient fingerprint on.

LeEco X651 help needed

Hi, I just got my x651 from China, it seems to be ok, except a few bugs I tried to manage but for only a few I found solutions so far. My rom seems to be somehow the latest one but it says x653 in some places, s28.
No OTA update available and scared to don't land in a far worst ROM...
1. EUI launcher was acting quite strange, the widget button was not working, the central button with LeEco stream could not be replaced, etc. so I got google now launcher which is clean and simple, but..
2. there are lots of apps (whatsapp) requesting normal permissions (contacts and local storage) but I cannot grant them because it is asking me to stop the draw over from settings, which I cannot do, since there is no way to do this (I don't have in menus options to disable this draw over thing), so I got locked in a damn loop.
q: is there any way to disable the draw over thing if there is no option in apps? or to grant permissions ignoring the draw over thing? because whatsapp is useless without contacts and saving abilities.
3. right after i started the phone I noticed the bold text used for titles is white with thick borders, as in other phones I saw in that option for high contrast text, also there is no way to change it since there are no options in accessibility regarding this.
q: is there any way to disable this or to unhide menu options? maybe a third party software like system optimizer?
any help greatly appreciated. as I said, I was tempted to try the last version of official rom but I have some bad experience with chinese apps in some former telephones so I'd rather check 10 times before cutting the rope, you know..
I have PRO 3 LEX653 (Helio x23), quite similar to yours since I don't know what the difference but we having the same problem.
For your question 1, EUI launcher is quite buggy for me too. You can use other launcher to use widget features.
Question 2, you need to disable "Swipe shortcuts" which can be found in "Setting > Accessibility > Swipe shortcuts".
Question 3, I don't understand, give screenshot might help.
Also, help me with my thread too!

OnePlus 6T Fingerprint data gets removed on screen unlock set to Swipe

Hi Everyone,
I have been using the OnePlus 6T for around 6 months now. I was using a Samsung Galaxy Note series before. In my note I was able to add my fingerprints but keep my screen unlock security to swipe and lock specific apps (using 3rd party apps). I like this feature as it is helpful to lock and protect my private apps but still can give my phone to others if needed without having the trouble to unlock it every time before handing it over.
Is there any reason for this not being present in OP6T , because when I change the settings to Swipe all the fingerprint/face-data is removed completely and I'm unable to use any third party apps also to keep my apps locked as fingerprint data itself is removed. Is there a workaround for this, Thanks a ton in advance.
FP is not available with none/swipe 'security' options as they are not really secure options
