Photo quality - Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro Real Life Review

Redmi Note 7 pro has 48MP camera at an aperture of f/1.8. You can take Low Light shots even more darker compared to Redmi Note 6 pro. Whereas Redmi Note 6 pro has an aperture of f/1.9.

Stellar!

The camera is much worse than rn5 whyred, especially with the stock app which succefully removes any details. Most likely because of very aggressive noise filtering. Simply you won't see any grass, only a pond of green color. There is a lot of light leak between the pixels so everything is "glowing". The excessive filtering might be avoided by using non stock app like gcam or opencamera but with these apps you will get absolutely washed colors - almost no difference between red, pink or orange.
Tried with two versions of miui as i got an ota update, unfortunately i don't remember which version it was. Returned my unit on 15.4. and went back to rn5 even though I had to pay about 30usd for the return.
Both phones are global version.
Disappointed.

Are you talking about vince or whyred? I am thinking of replacing my vince with this phone. Should I just not bother?

I have the whyred now. You'd better try the 7 if you have the chance. I also didn't like that the glass back is slippery and even if you place the phone on some rubber it might be pulled out of it with just a weight of the charging cable.. But this is not so serious problem.
Noticeable improvement is the display and the 3.5mm jack audio quality, this is much better on the 7.

Super Photo Quality of Both Camera Regard To Price Range.
Rear Camera More Accurate Than Front Camera.

think some bug or don't know camera sensor problem click some remote control photos and other photos with flash on image latters are faded or defocus or latters are wash out

Latters are wash out type faded or defocus

Rear Camera At Night In Room Light Condition

Stock Camera Comparison With Google Camera

So far so good, I keep my expectations to a minimum and so am quite happy with the results. Not every phone is built to be the best. For the price I paid its well worth , it takes pics that are as good as my Oneplus 6 which costs twice as much

Pretty neat camera, specially with gcam.
Was using Samsung m20 before, that cam is utter garbage compared to RN7P

What do you mean by height?

Well the image has a width (X) which is result of how far you move and a height (Y) which is almost static.
How many pixels is Y.

Hi everyone. I bought this phone 2 days ago. I'm overall happy of the product, but I feel like images are a little bit grainy even in sunny enviroments. I'm on MIUI global 10.2.1.0 | stable.
Does anyone else experience such issues or should I consider checking for hardware faults? Thanks a lot

Photo Quality and Portrait mode Quality Reduce in Miui 10 but Photo Quality found Great in Miui 9
See my Third Post There i Uploaded Rear Camera Sample of Miui 9 but Now i am on Miui 10.2.1
In the beginig, with first firmware i have when i bought my RN5 (9.5.6.0) camera give excellent photos, why camera is decreased right now ? Maybe a developper can look differences between new firmwares and olds, and maybe port old cameras configuration with a patch ( for exemple ) i m not a developper but i believe someone can do this.
The photos seem to look like oil paintings when I zoom in closer on the pictures. The best way to describe this is that the details taken are horrible on my phone.
I was on MIUI 10 but switched to Havoc OS. GCam seemed to fix it but I wanted to stick on Stable releases.
Umf.. so redmi note 5 global https://ibb.co/PG9RCP0

Coming from an iphone 8 plus...
The quality is good but disappointing. I cannot believe DXOMARK gave it 109 rating and 114 in photo-shooting...
I understand that HDR+ process is really good, and that the bokeh effect is "realistic"... but the telephoto lens is just awful. On iphone 8 plus the telephoto lens gave me a beautiful sense of profundity and natural colors, here the bokeh is non existent and I find the image "cold".
Also, there is a lack of fine detail and sharpness noticeable in almost all pics.
Can't believe that iPhone 8 plus makes better photos....
All friends Said that iPhone pics are not good... Since series 8
The tele lens is not that advanced or given a thought about, they were mostly focused on the regular and the UW lens...the pics from those 2 lenses are a tid bit over exposed but I rather have them over exposed than under and get noise in post.

That's interesting. I would have to compare
Coming from a Pixel 3 I'm very happy with the S10+. The color accuracy is much better in my experience so far and I find the three lenses much more useful than a single lens. The Pixel did take some nice photos but I'm liking this camera more. I'm really not agreeing with all the negative reviews I see here.

Coming from pixel 3 XL an iPhone X's max the front camera is the worse camera on any phone super soft and colours are very flat. I can't wait for the pixel camera mod for the s10 plus and least the front camera can be usable
That's sad. I don't like the returns. Probably have to wait for Pixel 4, although that's like 7 month away

Coming from the m20p I'm devided. For bokeh and portrait i miss the p20p...the monochrome really did some wonders.
HDR is not bad at all, but HONESTLY overall I don't get the DXO result, and I was expecting something much better. Curious to see what the p30p is going to to go for. Huawei doesn't really sleep these years ( I've read the specs of the new p30p, but everyday usage is what its all about ..)

Pixel 3 was so good in low light. There is no match right now. Specially that night sight mode. Maybe we are dissappointed by s10 because all the reviewers were saying so many good things and DXO mark gave very good score. The hype was good. Now i think reviewers were paid by Samsung.
I really expect Samsung to release software update for the camera. However video recording is on par with pixel. Screen is just superb.

Honestly I don't miss my 3XL or the camera at all but that's my preference. As for reviews the ones I saw pretty much said it was a draw between the two for the rear cameras with the Samsung being more versatile. I do agree with that however I like the color accuracy more with the S10. The Pixel went to the cool side too much for me and made the whites look blueish and the blacks having that crushed look from too much contrast. That I wasn't happy with and that was with three new units. Yes the night sight is miles ahead on the Pixel but I take far better photos of the moon and stars with the Samsung. The front camera is good enough for my use, I rarely use it. I don't take much video but the ones I did look great. Again this is my experience and preference out of the 125 or so photos I've taken so far.
Front camera is actually surprisingly bad (even compared to the Note 9). Any bright background colors cause blooming issues.
Good examples shown here (when he's getting out of the car at the beginning, and inside the café at 2:00).
I noticed it on mine when taking a selfie with a light behind me. Picture was definitely worse than the Note 9

So far I love the cameras, all of them. The clarity, especially on the back cameras, are super amazing.
I would like to know more about pictures of people/animals on the move. I remember that the S7 did not leave my daughter's hands static while capturing her, causing those blurred hands. Already on the iPhone 8 or XR I can easily do. How is the performance of Samsung in this question today? Child and dog are never stopped for photos

Apparently there will be an update to camera, both in terms of performance and functionality, it should be available to download at 28th May, which should be just before it gets released in most places.

According to pocket-link, this phone can shoot multiple frame resulting in 109 megapixel photos. I haven't read from other sites before.

Does the Phone support raw shooting? If so from the 48MP camera and/or the 13PM wide?
All of this but no mention of the zoom capabilities.
Obviously optical zoom would have been mentioned, but I'm wondering how the digital zoom is before the image starts breaking up.

Really holds up well
Im holding off at present, some of the pics look way to soft, and way to much colour saturation.
Don't expect huge improvements from what they've delivered in the past. They do have some new tech to play with to improve night shots thanks to the 48MP sensor (although missing OIS). And some will prefer the superior front cam capabilities for sure.
New update, also enables EIS on 4k 60 fps filming, from this video:

The best front cam that they've tested, not surprisingly. Not an astounding result considering it's using its rear camera. Hopefully software changes and/or Gcam can help improve it further.
Curious to see how it scores in the Rear cam test.

DXoMark does smartphones as 'selfie' (front) and 'mobile' (rear) with separate reviews. I imagine the criteria is different so they can't use one score for both still. If you look at any rear cam review the photos are a mix of people and objects, while the front cam reviews are practically entirely people based (hence 'selfie' score). It won't necessarily get the same score as a rear cam as it does a selfie cam since there is different criteria to keep even testing.

Dxomark only produces selfie score just because Asus want to show off their top score on-stage at Computex 2019
My guess is the rear camera software is still got lots more room for improvements, XDA posted today that there are major firmware upgrades for camera quality improvements

Day light photo quality is comparable to Pixel 3, S10+, iPhone XS, P30 Pro
but the night mode on P30 Pro beats anything in the market coz physics...not even samsung google apple can compete with the better and larger main sensor in P30 Pro...u may want to install gcam for night sight to get better night photo on zenfone 6

you bought the wrong phone for photography, it's because of mediatek sensor processing, it can't par with 2019 best lenses
and with that sensor, even video recording I've seen on rn8 pro, it's a bit better than my.. 2015 redmi note 2, only a bit better..
you could try gcam, but it will never work 100%

I do have to add, that I tested the fine detail of the 48MP Redmi note 9S vs the LG G6 16MP camera, static shot, side to side and guess what, at the same image width, the LG is sharper and has more detail
48 super mega random pixels LOL
/\ Megapixels was never a comparison thing.. You have to dig into pixel density of the sensor, not quantity of Megapixels.. that's noob.... I'm on iPhone 8 Plus right now and it have only 12MP and is SUPERB.. But I'm planning to buy a cheaper phone.. I would add that Redmi note 9 Pro has 64MP sensor I guess.. It's a little bit better.. the photo is larger and so it can accomodate more pixel density.. I don't know if my iPhone 8 Plus is better or not regarding camera but I won't afford another one if anyone steal it from me.

i just bought the RN9PRO global, i took this picture in 64MP this morning, what do you think of the quality ?
Quad Bayer 48MP means only 12MP after pixel binning. I do not see how choosing one from every four small pixels is better than simply having regular sized pixels without binning (other than being able to market it as a 48MP camera). The photo quality is not crap. It has less noise than my older phones. But that is all I can say about it.
Here is a sample image. It is a set of three images of the same scenary side-by-side. Among the first two (left and centre), one is taken in 48MP mode, the other is taken in default mode. I will not tell which one is taken in 48MP mode. See if you can figure it out. (Hint: You can not, because there is no difference). The last one (rightmost one) is HDR.
https://imgur.com/d66cSqS.jpg
Notice how the HDR mode preserves a lot more details in the darker areas, but everything in the brighter areas get a ton of halo around themselves. The halo is present in non-HDR image too, but its effect is much less.
Overall, this camera is nothing special.
Camera on curtana sucks! I don't like it at all. My old oneplus phone can even do better shots than it.

Honestly, I didn't like it.. It's blurred(not focused) on the center of image.. look likes there's a huge circle unfocused on center..
I guess I will go for S10 Lite or S10+
Well, I have noticed that you can zoom-in deeper with the gallery app on pics taken with 48MP mode.
But the differences on quality compared to pixel binning pics is really small, on the screen of the phone almost not noticeable.
Cam is okay for quick shots, I guess.
But what I'm missing for example are details when zooming into a taken pic. When zooming in, pics becoming blurry fast, will say things that are more in the background are not really as sharp as I wish they would be.
Have also tested different versions of GCam, but returned to the stock cam app. It gives me the "best" results and works most stable.
