[App] bxLauncher - A Bixby remapping extension! Launch assistant and more! - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Themes, Apps, and Mods

With the latest update of Bixby Voice Samsung finally allows to remap the Bixby button! Unfortunately the remapping options are very limited.
With bxLauncher you can easily launch any action directly from Bixby's remapping option, without limitations! You can toggle the flashlight, launch Google assistant, take screenshots or start any actions you like!
Currently bxLauncher can only launch one action, and only when your phone is unlocked!
If you want to fully remap the Bixby button with double tap, long press and more and also launch actions from lockscreen then the app bxActions is recommeded!
SETUP:
Just open Bixby, go to button settings and select "Launch app: bxLauncher"
bxLauncher will then launch your selected action!
FEATURES:
Remap the Bixby button to any action!
Launch Google Assistant with the Bixby button
Turn on the flashlight with the Bixby button
High performance! No lags!
No annoying ads!
ACTIONS:
Launch Google Assistant
Turn on flashlight
Take a screenshot
Mute phone
Launch camera or any other app
Switch to last app
35+ actions in total
Please note bxLauncher needs at least Bixby Voice v2.1.04 to work correctly!
This app is in development and still experimental!

Nice app. It took me several minutes to figure out that it is setup icon that controls the settings and not the bxlauncher one.

Installed it on my exynos note 9 running on android pie with latest bixby update but nothing happens when I set it up on single press. Things I tried hoping to make it work but failed were rebooting and reinstalling the app. Do I need to the clear data of bixby? For reference, I am currently using an app called DND toggle to mute the phone using bixby button if that makes a difference on setting bxLauncher. Thanks

Works Great on USA Spectrum Mobile SM 960U Oreo 8.1.0 ux 9.5.
Used ADB once and am on latest beta (bxaction) and still working perfect!
BX Button & Volume Buttons

With the last few updates the volume buttons started to lose mapping after some period. Reboot brings the mapping back but after I'd say 6-8 hours volume buttons mapping is lost again. Bixby mapping stays. Any ideas? I put bxbutton app to never sleep.

Screen Off and Lock
Let's you lock the screen (turn it off) via a long press of the search button. Although there is NO widget, the app icon can be placed onto the home screen or a dock and essentially does the same exact thing.
So far it's working wonders for me, and is an awesome combination with Track Pad Wake.
If you like the app be sure to give it 5 stars and if your feeling generous buy the donate version. Links are provided below if your interested
NOTE: **Before you can UNINSTALL this app, please go to "Setting > Location and Security > Select device administrators" and then uncheck "Screen Off and Lock"**

Sounds good! Will try it out...
Like the voice commands more than something like this. Can't have another program taking over my long press on the search button. Plus a long press takes as much time as just hitting the power button on top.

I've been using this app for a few months now, and I have to say it's a great compliment to the trackpad. No longer do I have to rely solely on the power button to lock the phone. I actually configured the clock portion of Beautiful Widgets to run this screen lock application, so I don't have to have another shortcut on my home screen. It's simply hidden within the BW clock.
PS - Shouldn't this thread be in the apps/themes section?

common battery hogging culprits? What is crc7

can anyone suggest services like AASA services, ANT+HAL, beaming service etc. to disable? i know that 'Android System' will always use up x% of battery but would like to minimise that as much as possible
Also, i want to know if im on crc7/crd7. im not sure what exactly they are. my baseband version says AQH3 at the end, dunno if that means anything
You can disable bixby services except bixby voice so phone still knows there is a button and install bxactions. Set it up with adb commands and have an additional button for your common actions and save battery with the bixby gone. You can also try disabling facebook and all services that come with it (everything contains facebook in package name) and use another 3rd oarty facebook feed client if you use it. Stock facebook app is a serious drainer.

thanks for the quick reply, but i have done quite a lot of research so ive optimised my phone in the aspects uve mentioned.
ive mapped the bixby button to go to home (go back with 2 presses, and app switcher with long press) and disabled all bixby services
ive deleted all facebook related things and instead use samsung internet to check my feed
You can try that, but sometimes it opens automatically after reboot. Be sure to keep that off.

Hi everyone! With Android 9.0 and latest Bixby button, now you can natively remap Bixby button to do many things, BixBye adds a bit more to these 'many things':
* Launch Google Assistant
* Launch an App
* Power Dialog
* Recents
* Home
* Toggle Flashlight
* Back
* Lock Screen
* Open Notification
* Quick Settings
* Take Screenshot
* Toggle Split Screen
More:
* Nothing - to prevent accidental Key Press.
* Powerful Tasker Plugin - lets you perform any type of complex task using Tasker.
Download from Google Play Store. (Please don't forget to leave a review at Google Play Store!)
As it goes without saying, the App is experimental and is in Beta Stage, things may not work as you expect to. However, your feedback will definitely help me improve the App. I don't own a Galaxy Device, any screenshot/video will be much appreciated.
NOTE 1: You must open and configure/setup Bixby to launch 'BixBye Actions' App upon Bixby key press.
NOTE 2:If you face any issues/warnings with Secure Startup when you enable BixBye's Accessibility Service, please note that it's an Android bug. Just disable Secure Startup temporarily, enable BixBye's Accessibility Service and then finally re-enable Secure Startup for everything to work in harmony.

Awesome! I've got plans for this - I hope the Tasker integration works well!

How does this compare to its alternatives, i.e. BxActions?

BxActions overwrites the Bixby button completely. Once enabled, it allows you to remap the single press to Google Voice Assistant or any other app. To use the long press button you then need to buy the Pro version. You will also loose the double press functionality when using BxActions.
This, on the other hand, integrates with the stock functionality. You set the single or double press to BixBye Action, and in BixBye settings you set the desired action, I have it set to open Google Voice Assistant.
Now in Samsung settings I have, single press opens Google Voice Assistant (via BixBye Action), double press opens Bixby Home and long press opens Bixby voice Assistant [emoji846]

Well, I don't want to use bixby at all - I use single press for Google Voice Assistant, long press for auto rotation and double press for torch. What do you mean, "you lose double press functionality"? It works great for me on BxActions.

Gesture to put the phone to sleep?

The awkward position of the power button makes me miss the sleep gestures in xposed framework when I would just remap google now(don't use anyway) to sleep so I could just swipe up from home to sleep the phone to return to the pocket... Thing is I'm on Verizon and don't have root. So does anybody know of a way that something like this could be done without root? I looked all through settings and googled it but have not found anything.
Thanks

I'm using the app One Hand Operation + from the Samsung store. I have it set up so I can swipe in from the left edge to turn off the screen, even if I'm in an app. Custom launchers like Nova can also let you swipe to turn off the screen. I think there are also ways to map the Bixby button to turn off the screen as well.

Am also using one hand operations and assigned a gesture to screen off
....You can also use this "Softkey Edge"... [emoji6]

You can buy Nova Launcher Prime and use double tap to put the phone to sleep. Otherwise you can simply remap the bixby button to be your power button and then you will have it closer.
Only thing is with Nova the double tap will only work if the phone is unlock, otherwise if you don't unlock it and you are still in the lockscreen you will need to press the power button.
Thanks for all of the feedback, I'm going to download One Hand Operation +. My only question about remapping the bixby button is doesnt that require root access?? I looked all over with google to see if it could be done without root and I couldn't find a way. I played around with the bixby settings to get it to run a command to sleep the phone too but that didn't work for me...

I have it set to run Nova launcher when i do LONG press of the home button

BUT to set the HOME to launch an app but short press ( NOT LONG)
I only am finding ones with Long press to run an app.
IS there any with a short press /click to launch an app?
Hello,
I'm sorry if your problem is solved but I have found a solution that has been working for quite some time. There is an app called simple control that is dark blue. It gives you another navbar that does not add anything to the screen. Here is what I do:
1. Open the app and set the home button to the launcher. For me I use nova.
2. Adjust the size and duration of the nav bar. For me, I use the gesture "swipe up" for the new nav bar to show.
This is the only method that seems to work and is FREE. There have been some "glitches" where the screen goes black for a few seconds after pressing the new home button but then refreshes to the launcher. But for the most part, everything works fine. If you are confused, I could upload a video of the whole process.
Have a great day

Hello,
I'm sorry, I have another solution that could work; only if you have a fire toolbox. There is a custom nav bar feature that downloads an app called automate that will create a code that will make the home button on the fire tablet open the launcher normally. Apparently, this function will not go away after a reboot and should remain "permanent". Both methods that I shared with you should not go away.
Thank you.
