Root for H910 V20h? - LG V20 Questions & Answers

My V20 having an issue with GPS since Oreo update. (I've tried the GPS locker apps but those are not really working) I didn't really care about it as this was my secondary phone, but now I want to use it as the main one. My theory is, if I downgrade it or try different kernel/rom, it will solve this problem. I swear I've looked everywhere, but I did NOT find any solution. All that I've found stops at version v20g... Can I downgrade/root somehow? My device is "virgin" means it is stock. Bootloader locked etc...
Thanks
ps. It was 3 years ago when I last rooted a device... the world has changed a bit since then (So let's just say I am a noob beginner )

The only thing... I didn't find anything for h910 v20h. As I've mentioned before, the latest was for the stock ROM version v20g. I just don't want to brick my device using the outdated method on a possibly unsupported version of ROM... But I would be happy if more then 10 people could confirm that I can use the same process on my v20h what was good for the v20g.

No Data Connection Period? New Phone Needed?

I've been part of the g900v community since basically day one. I may not have posted much, but I have tried pretty much every rom posted here, as well as posting 2 or 3 of my own roms
Saturday night, my s5 lost data connection no matter what i did. Tried a factory reset, no data. Unlocked and rooted bootloader, still no data... no matter what i did, no data.
So, unless someone here has a fix idea, I'm looking for recommendations of a new device that can be rooted, bootloader unlocked and modified a lot of the same way (rom wise) as the s5. I did get the moto z droid running 7.0, but mine can't be bootloader unlocked or rooted, but i have 14 days to return it if i don't like it to swap it.
Any recommendations?
Restart from square one. Im in the same spot. I was able to restore an old backup of a stock pbp1 and service worked. But that isnt the soloution. I was running Mokee 7.1 and thats when it crashed. I've restarted from locking my bootloader again and going back from the beginning. I started here https://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/general/root-method-og5-ok3-t3290370
I had some hiccups gaining root, google helped a bit and roaming the forums.
Removing kingroot was hard, Step 2 worked here: https://www.droidmen.com/remove-kingroot-kinguser-with-supersu ......Supersume didnt..
Now im moving onto unlocking the BL again

I went all the way back (because i can on my phone since its how i got it regardless) to rooting with TowelRoot and it still didn't work. Nothing worked at all.
Of all the roms i tried no cell service works. Mokee and Phoenix MM and Nougat dont work. I' guess i'll stick with a stock debloated as last resort.
Anyone have a working MM or Nougat rom working with Verizon service?

I was using cm14.1 on the unlocked CID 15 bootloader ... If you can do that, try that. It worked for me
I think my issue was something with one of the Roms I tried. I tried an old MIUI 4.4 that was compiled for the g900v but that might have been a dumb idea

Just purchased an H918 10k - should I take OTA update?

Is there anything I should know in particular to 10k? It sounds like rooting isn't enabled unless i downgrade to another firmware version (is it even possible?).

Yeah don't update. You need to downgrade which is possible.

Same thing with me. Recieved h918 with 10k. Downgraded to j, unlocked bootloader, flashed twrp and custom rom.
Is there a specific page you'd suggest for me to follow our search term? Sorry I'm very new to this and thanks.

Find the post with LGUp (restore even for bricked devices) and follow the instructions to downgrade. There are also some youtube videos which are very helpful, in order to downgrade or after, unlock bootloader and so on..

Need help to root H91810k

Hello,
First off, thank you for clicking on this post. I'm new on XDA and rooting LG phones. However, I've searched help on posts and other sites on how to root LG V20 H19810k (T-Mobile Variant) and many told me to downgrade first and then root. But none exactly gave any instruction or step by step on how to do it.
My worries are these ARB (Anti-Roll Back) software updates and if you were to downgrade, you will brick your phones and things like that, it's LG (I mean like there are a lot of complains about hardware faulty after phone updates and lawsuits about it), and different steps on each variants. I bought this phone like 2 or 3 months ago, and my thought on this phone's software is sucks so bad. It's so bad, I've had many problems like my mobile data often times stopped working (no network) even though signal is full bar, my live pixel background suddenly gone after playing this specific game, serious low fps in some games, RAM is full all the time, and many more. The phone itself has amazing hardware and specs, but damn why is the software so bad?
Right, so all my problems aside, I think switching ROM or downgrade probably a good idea and rooting for removing bloatwares. But many had problems installing twrp recovery to root and risks like bricking and bootlooping. And in this post, I'm hoping for help to downgrade and root H91810k.

Downgrade to 10j and use DirtySanta, or use lafsploit.
IMHO they are about equally difficult. In the lafsploit thread, I state that you have to be on 10p or 10q, but I will update the post stating that you need to be on 10q or LOWER.
DirtySanta doesn't require you to use FWUL, so it does have that advantage.
Bottom line though, you can't stay on ARB 0 firmware and use any of the current ROMs -- they all require 10p or higher firmware.

Thank you for the reply,
Seems I got it a little bit. So what I've been looking at this dirtythis and that unlock stuff for quite a while. I've been wondering if anyone asked about H918. I just realized that this dirtysanta bootloader is an exploit for other variants that don't support unlocking via fastboot.
So then I proceed to unlock my device and it successfully unlocked. (Follow this post to unlock).
I will try downgrading my device via lgup and will follow this post to flash and root.

Be careful about your rolling back to root, check your current software version and and if you're arb 1 you'll brick. If you're arb look up the laf exploit thread

He said he is on 10k, so he is safe to rollback to 10j which can use recowvery.
@ignoll Whatever you do, DO NOT flash the engineering aboot, or you will brick your phone. Follow the procedure in the post you linked, and you will be fine. DirtyCow gets you a temp root shell that will allow you to dd TWRP onto the recovery partition. If you get an error when you do run-as con, then you are NOT on 10j or lower. If you try to downgrade and you get an error about ARB, then you are NOT on 10k.
Just keep all that in mind and you will be fine.

Thank you for the reply,
Just to make sure, 10k is the software version which you can find in the software info inside the settings app, right? This software info will show stuff about "Android version", and down on the list, there's the "Software version" and below it is the 10k coming from (H918xxx). Or, check it via svc menu and version info through the dialer app. All that is to check whether I'm in the correct version or not, yes? (Sorry for this silly question, I just want to make sure. I'm really new to this)
And yes, I won't flash this engineering aboot, just follow the instruction and I'll be good. But just to make sure again, there's no this "engineering aboot" thing in the post that will brick my device, yes?
That said, I really appreciate for your warning and advice.

Please, i am also stuck and confused, as i understand LG devices, downgrading may cause device to go dead completely, i want to be sure before i begin this process. Here is my device Software Info:
Software Version: H91810K
Build Number: NRD90M
My device is locked to T-mobile, and i want to unlock using Octopus Box as i have credits. Unlocking requires root, is it possible to downgrade to the mentioned version 10j and not brick device? Any one can help me on this.

If you root your phone it will be unlocked no need to use an octopus box.

That is only true if the engineering bootloader is used. The H918 still needs work to get it carrier unlocked.

Flashing generic ROM on Verizon LG V20

Hello all,
I have got a new LG V20 from verizon and I want to flash a standard ROM (Hopefully Android 8.0). I had a verizon Samsung note 4 and didn't manage to flash a new rom (I've used Odin, followed the procedure - which worked on other phones).
I've found this ROM https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/development/rom-h91820f-oreo-root-t3848854 and I want to flash it.
Would you know if there's anything I need to do to flash a rom? Also, if you have any help links that'd be great!
Thank you!

Hi,
thank you for your response. I have seen how much bloatware and pointless Verizon apps are on the phone - which are further useless as I live in the UK so I can't really use all of the services provided.
There's no way to install a clean rom without just the basic necessary apps?
Thanks,

Is the LG G4 H81220x MM rootable?

Sorry if its too much of a 'newb' question, but I've been reading up on this for days, and I'm still not sure, if there is an exploit for the h81220x (Marshmallow, Fido/Rogers(?)) variation of the LG G4. I've seen messages from 2017 that say "not yet, for this one anyway", so it's all quite confusing. I only want to install a ROM with as late a version of Android as possible (beyond MM). I know the bootloader is hard as nails to crack, and there are alternatives, like "USU", and one wrong move and this thing goes into a permanent bootloop. So is it now doable for a Fido-branded G4 with the H81220X firmware installed, and if so, which would be the best / safest method to go with? Thanks!
