Even mi 8 doesnt get L1

Not sure its even legal to just push an update and get L1.. these keys are normally factory flashed as google and others would not want keys released to the public in an OTA to be messed with.
You would normally need to send the phone to them like oneplus did.. even then netflix etc needs to approve the device as been secure.. so not sure miui would get it been packed with crap
https://www.reddit.com/r/oneplus/comments/9eldpd/upset_with_oneplus_googles_widevine_l1_patch/
EDIT:
Reading the tweets comments looks like Netflix wont be certified if get L1 with OTA

Playstation app on unlocked bootloader?

Hey guys.
I've been searching around a bit looking for a solution to get the Playstation app and remote play app working on unlocked bootloader, but I haven't found anything.
Is it even possible?

Not possible. Once you unlock the bootloader you lose your DRM keys, remote play wont work and play station app will no longer work. You will just keep getting error messages. But if you backed up your DRM keys before you unlocked bootloader, you can relock it, then restore the keys to gain access to those features again. If you did NOT back up your sony keys that are unique to ONLY your phone you are SOL. I unlocked my phone, lost my keys and was basically stuck with a phone that couldnt do nothing i actually purchased it for. So i gave it to my wife and bought another one...
I read remote play was ported to every android 4.0+ but i couldnt figure out how to run it on my unlocked bootloader xperia z2. It is a shame how sony punishes us, at leas i could fix the camera, but i miss miracast and remote play
Its not exactly punishing
Protection of their creations but yes its anpoying
There is a DRM FIX in the cross dev section that aparently works

Someone put a instructions that he followed to get the patch work.

Will Huawei send nougat OTA or do I have to download it?

I'm not seeing any traditional update software options in the about phone section. How will we receive Android OS updates on this tablet? Thanks.
Well it seems in the moment there just are no updates...
Normally you should get your update via ota (you should see an update option in your "main menu"), except for beta/leaked versions, if they should leak anyhow/anytime...
For now, there are no leaked or official updates for our mediapad m3 :-/

If you Google nougat for Huawei mediapad M3 there are several sites that claim they have the download you can Flash
The only thing in the about phone setting I can find about updates is updating the emui
As I know the update emui menu will also update your android (for example to android 7 + emui 5.0).
I know these sites, but as long as I do not see a link hier on xda, on the huawei news pages or on the huawei homepage itself I think these links are just nonsense.
(For example some of these pages just link every phone available and say "download XXXXX android 7 here"... I would not try to install these... But I also suppose you won't get a real package anyway there.)

Rally don't know if we ever see 7.0 for the M3.
The M2 never received 6.0, and what I heard is that Huawei just doesn't give a fu** about tablet software.
Huawei generally doesn't give a fu** about software updates. My Mediapad X2 GEM 701 never received an update. That's why I had to undergo a hugely complex updating procedure with chinese ROMs modified sh1t.
I just got the new update with October patch. They removed the navigation bar too.
How did you get this patch for your m3? Mine can not find any updates...
Chinese version only perhaps?

Do you mean you can now disable the on-screen buttons or what has changed with that update? Thx!
I think that the NOUGAT OTA will be sent together with the new EMUI 5.0 (this version of its ui layer is based on android 7)... Anyone know an approximate date?

Correct, also it said better chrome operation,so maybe people that had problems running chrome in small format ,now can. I always had mine set in medium text and didn't have a problem. There were other things it said ,basic improvements,etc... I can't really notice any change other than the ability to disable the new buttons. Which like I said ,disables the ability to start split screen. Unless someone can tell me how to do NB it with only the fingerprint scanner......I'm also running Nova free launcher.
Plainly, this tablet is sick as F. I'm coming from a wifi only Xperia z3tablet compact though...... the only reason I bought this just because the camera Hardware had a malfunction on the Sony.

Haha haha,
Yes in a very good way. It's heavier than the z3 compact, and no water resistance, but it's smooth ,fast, and the LTE connectivity is incredible. I always have 5 bars of 4g. Now ,I live in Thailand, and the internet is crap here compared to the USA,so in the states it's probably even better. It was half the cost of a normal flag ship phone too,and it's basically a huge phone. It comes with a screen protector and a case, however the case is Carmel color and hard to look at,but it's growing on me. This tablet charges very fast too.
If your on the fence, buy it for sure.

anyone know how to flash back to stock 7.0 after oreo beta update?

The update sucks and I'd like to go back to stock firmware. Anyone know how to do this without tripping knox? Surprised once u unenroll from the bats program it doesnt have an ota to go back to official firmware like Google does with the pixels and such.

Yeah I dont notice enough of an upgrade to deal with the lack of stability. I got all the developer previews on my Nexus 6p and none were this bad. Did using smart switch wipe your data?

Yes it wiped my data but I was beyond frustrated with the oreo beta and just wanted the phone back to the way it was the day I bought it. All seems well back on 7.0. I did unenroll from the beta on the samsung+ app prior to flashing back to stock with smart switch and as soon as it booted back into the stock firmware, I was prompted to download the oreo beta. Highly annoying but found an app that allows you to block software update notifications. You would think samsung would take a few notes from google and provide an ota rollback to get back to stock but they didn't. Luckily smart switch was the easiest software I ever used to restore a phone. Literally plug in and just wait.

OK I used the cheater app to get Samsung + to give me the Beta on my unlocked S8. There is not a dis-enroll option in Samsung + that I can see (because I used the cheater app perhaps?) when I was on the Beta or now that I'm back on 7.0. I did use Smart Switch to downgrade. So as soon as I log in after downgrading, the Beta automatically downloads and best you can do is say install later which is says it will do at night. I factory reset thinking the upgrade it tied to my Samsung account but no, I sign in with a different Google ID and a different Samsung ID but still the Beta downloads. How and the hell do I get this to stop? All I can think of is see if I can disable updates with BK. This crazy.

Well it really looks no different, no magic feature that I noticed except duel messenger if you use that. I will offer the advice that if it's not offically offered to you via Samsung + where you will be able to dis-enroll, stay away. I forced it with the app being pushed here on XDA and now I can't keep it off unless I want to disable system update with BK. Just spent an hour on the phone with Samsung application support, they remoted into my phone then escalated the ticket for a callback. RutRow, wish there was a cheater app to dis-enroll in the beta.
So I took the plunge, even installed it without wiping and no issues at all. Not even a single crash or anything

The thing I couldn't take is when long scrolling, like a webpage where it take multiple finger swipes to get to the bottom or an app like Flibboard where you continue to scroll, the app will just close and your kicked back to the desktop.
Can you tell me how the Beta sign-up goes thru the app, Sammy support keep asking me what steps I did to sign up for the Beta. like they are wise to people forcing it. She asked a few times if I filled out a form. Thanks

TMO - Known Issues for Unlocking Bootloader

I've been sitting on my unlock bin for a few days now. Once exited to flash 9.0.x but now I left scratching my head of what do I lose by doing so. I've searched countless threads to come up with the following issues. Could some users that have made the jump clarify somethings? How can I extract the Tmo Modem before flashing? Is there a writeup somewhere?
1. Once the bootloader is unlocked - Corporate type apps stop functioning - INTUNE/Mobile Iron - ( I have to have INTUNE on my phone to pull company emails)
2 Google Pay - NFC - If seen a few post about Google Pay not working -
3. Unable to download some normal everyday apps from the play store - Netflix
4. Streaming content is reduced to 480P -
Yes you can go back to stock. Easiest way is by using MSMDownloadTool.
Of course you'll get storage wiped
MobileIron works for me. The only issue I've had with it is due to the parallel apps feature. You can remove the work profile and then mobile iron worked.
Try magisk to pass cts/safetynet.
Same with Google pay. You need a custom kernel or use Magisk. You'll pass cts/safetynet and can use it without any issues.
You can still download everything. Guess how? Yep, magisk.
Only Netflix and Amazon prime is limited. I'm not sure what Amazon puts their videos at, but Netflix does 960x540. Which isn't that bad at all, at least my opinion on a 6" screen. The Netflix sources are clean and there's no artifacts, so the video is better than it seems at that resolution. I'm not watching a lot of full length episodes or movies on my phone, so for me it's not a big deal.
And as mentioned above, you can go back to fully stock by using the msmdownloadtool. So just unlock your bootloader and try this all out. If there's any deal breakers, just go back to stock.

YouTube TV most tend to not add to the mix but it's also effected by a bootloader that's unlocked.
It defaults to 720x480 @ 30 FPS (basically 480p). The 30 FPS is key. Once you unlock bootloader it's L3 encryption and that's why for the others too (Netflix/Amazon Prime). Having bootloader locked you get 1920x1080 @ 60 FPS or 1280x720 @ 60 FPS on YouTube TV. Resolution isn't as big of a deal but the frame rate certainly is for sports.
You need to enable Magisk Hide, not just install Magisk.

There's no work around other than keeping your bootloader locked (then you won't have root).
It's widevine DRM encryption. Just about every device is L1 which provisions the device for HD playback. Once you unlock your bootloader you drop to L3 and are only provisioned for SD content. If you go back a year to the OnePlus 5T days OnePlus got in hot water with the community since they shipped a device without L1 support.
If you want to read more about it here, check it out. I haven't rooted my OnePlus 6T (first phone in 6 years to not do so by choice (e.g. there's root available vs no option out there)). I've got everything I need (system-wide adblock, iYTBP, etc.).
https://www.androidauthority.com/widevine-explained-821935/
EDIT: Run the MSMTool and go back to stock stock and you'll have a locked bootloader and back to L1 provision should you want it.

Axon 7S just updated to Oreo

This forum seems to have been the place for Axon 7S discussion since the device doesn't have its own forum subject. I thought this was the place to post this news.
A couple months ago I bought a 7S from AliExpress mainly just to check out. The general consensus was that the device would be stuck with Android Nougat. Today, however, I received a pleasant surprise as my device just performed an over-the-air update to Android version 8.0.0 (see link for screenshot). I am now even more happy with my purchase of the phone. I know there are still questions about its fitness for use in the US due to its antenna configuration (I'm planning on using it mostly as a media device, so this isn't too important to me, but I wanted to throw it in), but I think, for the $200-ish that I paid for it, this is a great buy, especially as ZTE seems to be continuing to update it.
https://www.flickr.com/photos/pickypenelope/47267104892
So that's Oreo BO3 which is as far as the A2017G has come too. Is it still very Chinese software wise and does it have Google Play and other GAPPS?
Or do you have to jump through hoops to make it useable outside China?

So that's Oreo BO3 which is as far as the A2017G has come too. Is it still very Chinese software wise and does it have Google Play and other GAPPS?

I do remember going through a few hoops, but I found the Play store on the ZTE store and installed everything from there. Though, there was lots of Chinese to try and get through. When I tried to sideload GAPPS I had no luck, finding the Play Store on the ZTE Store was the key. Also, with the Oreo update all my apps were maintained, so I didn't have to go through that rigmarole all over again. As it is now, I'd say it's perfectly usable.

K ... rude ...
Unfortunately, I didn't do a good job of remembering exactly the steps it took to get the Play Store and Google Services installed on the device. I remember messing around A LOT with different apk files from apkmirror, but until I installed something (unfortunately I don't remember exactly what it was exactly, though I think it was the Play Store) from the ZTE Store, I couldn't get anything from apkmirror to load. Amazingly enough, I can read, but sometimes the Internet doesn't know everything...

Thanks.
After getting the Play Store working I totally disabled all the Chinese ZTE apps. Good call there.
