It looks like a generic response where they substitute whatever model number is being inquired about . Since the Sprint version is months behind other variants already being upgraded this person responding doesn't seem to have a clue . At this point I don't think Sprint has any intention or plan to have LG upgrade our phone to oreo . The verizon model was updated 6 months ago .

Yes this is not going to happen, it's better to get rid of this phone

whaaaaaaaaaaat? they Wont give us oreo?

As of April 4th, the Indian variant of the LG G5 is now receiving the Oreo update....so by a VERY small chance, we may still get Oreo... Im off contract, so I only use this phone for my second Pokemon Go account connected via hotspot, so I'm not DYING for the update, but damn LG and Sprint....a promise is a promise.

Mine has US99717a, with security patch level dated January 1, 2018.
@sp_1st_timer Thanks!
Contacted LG, their first line of defense insisted it was a US Cellular variant until I escalated. Turns out their regular support people don't have the carrier free version in their system. Days pass... No further response from LG. I guess I'll wait a few weeks & see what happens, if nothing It'll be LinageOS like my other devices, or Maybe time to sell.
Was it rooted?
Sorry for the noob question, it's probably been asked on here, but have not been able to find a solid answer. I have a US Cellular LG G6, which by now I know bootloader can't be unlocked. But, is there any way to update to Android Oreo? Currently on Android Nougat 7.0. thanks in advance.

Oreo on the LG V20 H990DS

Android 8.0 Oreo started rolling out on the LG V20 at the end of July. I own the international version of the phone, the LG V20 H990DS. When I check for an OS Update it says that there's no Update available.
Why is that? Am I the only owner of the H990DS version experiencing this? Could it have to do with the fact that I imported it because it's not being sold by retail in my country?
Thanks in advace.

Ok, thanks.
Do you or does anybody have an idea, when it's expected to be released for everyone?
(I know that there are other threads, but they are not really up-to-date with the most recent post on the topic I found being from March)
Thanks in advace.
Mid august or september was the mentioned dates in previouse posts.
I asked the LG online chat about the H990DS updates....
Here is the transcript from LG chat on the question:
Time of chat: 8/15/2018 3:01:28 PM
Length of chat: 00:07:16
Your name: Dax
Chatted with: Micel
3:01 PM Micel: Hello, Dax. Please allow me a moment while I review your question...
3:01 PM Micel: I will be more than happy to assist you with your concern.
3:02 PM Dax: Great
3:02 PM Micel: Yes, there is an update that will be rolled out to LG V20.
3:02 PM Micel: However, we do not have any specific time when the update will be rolled out.
3:03 PM Dax: Is this going to be a security update, or a version update?
3:03 PM Micel: It is a software version that will be for bugs and fixes.
3:03 PM Dax: So not Android 8.0, just an update to 7.0?
3:04 PM Micel: The update that will be rolled out is an Oreo version which is Android 8.0.
3:04 PM Dax: Great, really good to hear!
3:05 PM Micel: No worries.
3:05 PM Micel: Is there anything else that I can assist you with today?
3:06 PM Dax: So, although you dont have a specific time - are you able to at least say within a week, within a month, this year?
3:06 PM Micel: Sorry but I do not have any idea about the timeframe.
3:06 PM Dax: ok thanks.
3:06 PM Micel: I'm afraid that if I will give a timeframe, this is misinformation.
3:06 PM Micel: Is there anything else that I can assist you with today?
3:07 PM Dax: Is there any information on how much longer this device will be supported for?
3:07 PM Micel: No, there is none.
3:07 PM Dax: ok, thats all. Thanks for your time.
3:08 PM Micel: You're very much welcome. I hope this has been of some assistance Dax.
3:08 PM Micel: Thank you for visiting LG Australia New Zealand Live Chat Support. Have a wonderful day.
Is there any news? There will be update for any H990DS version? I have TWN, but i read that roms for other countries can be flashed.
From what I have seen on forums etc it looks like it'll start rolling out from Sept 7. But only LG knows really, and they aren't telling. I have the exact same model, and yes you can install different regions ROMs but I find they don't always work the same. I tried a different version and had better battery life/signal, but Google assistant didn't work well and I had volume issues so went back to the version my phone came with.
LG mobile must be the most transparent company when it comes to informing there user base of updates:good:

LG open-source website listed the kernel source code for H990 model... Which is identical to H990DS, H990N, H990N etc... Elsa model...
Earlier it was listed only for Korean F800 series..
http://opensource.lge.com/osSch/list?types=ALL&search=H990
So we should be able get oreo in September for sure...
Now it's up to LG what best features they would include in it... My only concern in this phone is the battery backup....
Let's hope so....
Jesus, they still haven't updated this phone?? Glad I sold it, 1st mobile to ship with Nougat and then an awful track record in updates. They need to get their act together. Nice audio quality, shame about after support
V20 H990ds oreo update
Hello Everyone
I have same version in india and still not getting the update of oreo. Lg needs to do something for customers for update the software frequent.
my wife h p10 lite has 8.0 plus updates now to august 18 .. my lofty is still on 7 and nov 17 ... is there a moral there somewhere ... ??
No updates for my H990DS since November 2017... My second phone is a Huawei P20 (not the Pro) since three months and I have already received THREE security updates and one to push the power for players. What a difference, Huawei is now number two in worldwide sales. But I love my LG too, great camera etc.!

VS995 got its oreo treatment yesterday
According to an article from androidpolice,
Verizon specific model of V20 (VS995) got its oreo yesterday.
Are we up next? or gotta wait in line behind
LS997 (t-mobile)
US996 (US cellular)
H990T (Mexico)?
Like many others here, V20 will be the last LG mobile device for me.
This will be my last Lg. It's sad, because it's a great device.
I have the USA version of the V20 on Verizon Wireless and got the Oreo update late last night.
It seems smoother ... but had to reset a lot of my custom Apps and settings ... I'm liking it!
F**king LG!
I have the Indian H990ds, and it's still on the security update from April 2017.
I wouldn't hold your breath, the H990DS isn't even on the list for the source code release for Oreo, if it shows up there I'm guessing it'll be at least a month before it starts rolling out.

Oreo updates for LG v20 us996.......

I do believe that because LG is not going to update the us996 to Oreo now a lot of themes being developed no longer work on this device any suggestions on where to go from here tried to unlock bootloader with no success......
Many have been successful in unlocking/rooting the US996, and there are a few discussions on XDA on how to do that.
My question is what the new date is for the Oreo update. I've heard mid-Nov and late-Nov. Does anyone know?
With only a couple of days left in November it is not looking good for the v20
Do we have any more information on updates?
Kinda a bummer when you buy the US996 thinking that the "carrier unlocked" status would make it get updates from LG quicker than carriers update the phones.

Not for me here
Got the notice this morning......took 20f. It had a little more battery this evening than on Nougat. No SIM though; gotta swap devices in VZ account due to unlocked Note 3 using Micro SIM.
Good timing; was getting very frustrated with losing signal/sim on Note 3 custom roms. May camp out on the V20 for a while and see how it improves things.
I've been trying to get 20f on my (supposedly) unlocked US996 phone.
Originally tried downloading OTA, but got Invalid Software Package twice.
My wifi is capped at 30gb/mo(!), and it forces me to use wifi - no option to use LTE, and I have unlimited (22gb) of it.
So I decided to try LG Bridge.
It downloaded & started applying the update, only to say "Your phone cannot update". I tried it a few times. Same thing @ same spot.
Then I decided to try LGUP. See error here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/lgv20/comments/ady77a/help_upgrading_from_us99610n_to_us99620f/
(I've downloaded the TWRP img for v20 linked, but the kdz file linked has a note: * - unlocked non-US Cellular)
Now I can't get into my phone. It just brings up the Firmware Update screen.
When I checked using fastboot, it says it is not unlocked. Is that because of the SIM card?
Is there anyway to restore the existing(?) 10n firmware? Can I flash anything (TWRP, etc) without it being unlocked? And if not, do I need to call US Cellular to get it unlocked?
I'm quite rusty with custom roms & the like. It's been awhile!
--- EDIT ---
I was able to get 10n (what I had before this mishap) reinstalled with no errors, using LGUP.
https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-us996-firmwares/
I lost some pictures that weren't on my SD card, but I'm trying to restore a Google backup now.
Hopefully this will be helpful for someone else!
Have had Oreo update now for a couple of days and it is running smoothly.......never thought it would get here........

NEW V35 [7/2020] Stuck on OREO?

Just bought this phone about a week ago, it is an Unlocked AT&T Model. It tells me basically that it does not need a OS Update - that it has the Latest 8.0. I am giving up on LG Support already!
Using their APK to update via USB told me that it cannot even check the Version of the OS, so definitely NO Update for this SUCKER!
Can anyone here PLEASE help me find a way to UPDATE this nice Smart Phone?
THANKS!

This is what LG's response is to me about getting my AT&T Unlocked V35 Updated fm A. 8.0:
Hi Michael, we appreciate your time in getting back to us. I will be happy to assist you today.
In response to your inquiry, for carrier unlocked phones, the only way to get it updated is, you need to have a service again with the original service provider for them to send or push the Software update to your phone. While LG has no control with the software updates for carrier unlock phones, compared to manufacture unlock phones it automatically receives the software updates that was released OTA (Over the Air).
I hope I have provided all the information and wish it has been helpful in addressing your query. It has been a pleasure to help you out to the best of my knowledge and my skills.
Should you have any other questions, please feel free and don't hesitate to contact us again via Email, Live Chat, or Phone by calling 1-800-793-8896. As this email is used for outgoing mail only, you may send file attachments, replies, any information and further inquiries over to the email section of support https://www.lg.com/us/support/email-appointment and we will do our best to assist you without you having to repeat the details of your previous message.

I heard from LG Support and they said that since it is an AT&T Unlocked Phone and not unlocked by them - I have to sign up with AT&T and noot my T-Mobile too get Updated....RATS....I just left
AT&T for better and cheaper service from T-Mobile and now I have to go back....guess I will and if/when they upgrade this NICE phone I will leave dem again!
Or as I suggested, you simply cross flash to North American Open Market (NAO) firmware via Dev Patched LGUP.
You can also try temporarily putting in an AT&T SIM card (not even activated) and that can trigger AT&T update, if left for a few hours.
But people in other countries just cross flash to NAO as they don't need AT&T firmware whatsoever.

Yes, people report AT&T SIM card will do the trick. Either prepaid or postpaid, they are both the same. Supposedly they don't have to be activated -- as long as you have AT&T firmware on your phone.
Some say a Red Pocket (AT&T MVNO) SIM card will, also. While Cricket (owned by AT&T) SIM card will not.

Latest firmware for the V35 now (AT&T does have an early version of the Android 10 update, but kdz not released. We have to wait for a ULM kdz to be released to flash the 10 and update. Until then we're on Android 9 still) is the 04/2020 update. Sort by date on lg-firmwares.com, for device choose LMV350ULM, you want the ULM as its the unlocked carrier free version of the V35, and crossflashing the AT&T version is completely safe (I'm using an AT&T V35 in Canada on Koodo with the ULM software). In the software list choose GFI or USA (I'd recommend the USA version, unless you're on google fi).

Buy one of these AT&T SIM cards. Less than $3 with free shipping.
Leave it in overnight, see if the OTA update shows up.
Keep your T-Mobile. This is just to trigger the update.

THANKS for Great Suggestion, I looked over the LINKS etc. and bookmarked but at my age etc., I am alot more TECH SAVY than probably most 81 yr olds BUT I just don't feel confident enough trying to follow all of those instructions, wish I did....know it appears SIMPLE, but I just paid for this NICE Phone and would HATE to BRICK it!
BTW...just abit ago I got notice you sent me a PM but when I tried to open it [SORRY] I guess my Blocker blocked it and sent it into
CyberSpace or something....can't seem to find it now. I just followed ChazzMatt's TIP - and ordered a $2.99 ATT Sim Card to put into my LG V35 to hopefully trigger aN UPDATE. Laters, Michael
Just follow this video for upgrading your V35 to latest firmware
so, (directed toward Chazzmatt) I'm just needing a recommendation on which one to do (or wait for). Ive got the ATT unlocked model on MetrobyTMobile. (LM-V350AWM) I first updated it via modified LGUP to V350ULM20d (V350ULM20d_00_NAO_US_OP_0612), then to V350ULM20f (V350ULM20f_00_NAO_US_OP_0218). ((it still shows as V350AWM in the sys info, but all bloatware is gone))
Now, a while back I went into an ATT store and got them to sell me an un-activated sim card, and tried to update that way and failed (not knowing you had to wait a couple hours or overnight). My question is, would the simcard ota update work for me, and if so, would it be the full blown bloated att version of 10.
Or, should I just keep patiently waiting for the NAO KDZ (V350ULM30?) like you've been screaming for us to do since the very beginning! lol
(apologies for the gratuitous use of parentheses)
*Update - They're now saying we will be getting LG's new Velvet UI, should I wait even longer for that to be released???

The AT&T SIM card trick only works if you still have AT&T firmware installed.
If you cross flashed to another V35 firmware you need to wait for that KDZ to be released. It's coming. LG is just slow. Same deal last year with Pie.

If you cross flashed to another V35 firmware you need to wait for that KDZ to be released. It's coming. LG is just slow. Same deal last year with Pie.

ah, thanks for clearing that up! I'm guessing we might have to wait even longer now that they've announced we'll be getting Velvet UI and need time to add that to the KDZ, or is the UI update something that will come later on?
