Hi everyone.
I'm not sure if this is the right subforum to ask, so I apologize if I should have posted this elsewhere.
This is for the unlocked LG V20 H910.
I flashed TWRP using the Dirty Santa method. I did it a couple of times with version 3.0.2-1, and a couple of times the version from 10-8-2018 (it doesn't show which version it is on the file itself). In both cases, when I've tried to restore backups, many apps disappear and are no longer installed. I've tried it on 10r, 20h, and Super Rom 8.3.18. This happened with apps which I restored with Titanium Backup; ones I've restored from apks; and ones I've downloaded from Google Play. It also happened with and without being rooted. I did it all those different ways on each rom which was installed.
Does anyone know if there is a fix for it?

try to check where TB put when restoring apk. maybe TB put on ext-sd so it not included when you creating NAND backup from TWRP. as far as i know, making NAND backup from twrp is just backing up the apk that installed or stored on internal storage. CMIIW

Yeah, I checked it. The only thing I didn't check was one option which is in beta mode and requires 50 gigs of free space. But everything else was checked. The 10r backups were around 15 gigs, and the Super Rom ones were around 13 gigs.

That's why I tried different ways of installing it. I was worried that some got in my SD card after the first time I noticed apps weren't restored, but I tried reinstalling and backing up without the SD card and the same thing happened.
Im wondering if they're being backed up but not restored for some reason?

hmm.. try to update TWRP into latest version, im using ver 3.2.3-4 here. im already using this version for backing up many roms and never meet any problem at all..

Did you install Zacharee1's Mod Control App or install of Lu**y P****r with certain switches checked? These caused those issues for me before upon restore.
You might want to edit your post as it contains the app whose name can never be spoken on xda

So, I just rooted my Mytouch 4G a few days ago using the 'Ultimate' guide on this forum. I had root access and I disabled and deleted some stock apps from my phone. I was using LauncherPro instead of the HTC Sense launcher. I made a backup in Clockworkmod recovery immediately after installing Clockworkmod, before I'd made any major changes.
So, I spent the past few days removing and tweaking things. I had my phone working extremely well. But then I realized that I actually wanted an .apk file (the stock visual voicemail app) that I'd already deleted from the phone. It should be in my original backup file, right? So I figured that I'd make a new backup, restore my old backup containing the .apk file, copy the .apk file off of the phone, then restore my recent backup. Well...this didn't work.
When I restored either the original backup or the more recent backup, the phone would boot up and I'd get a message that the System UIDs are inconsistent. The phone would let me make phone calls, but 95% of my apps were missing from the loader. Most of the icons on my home screens were grayed out and would tell me the applications were missing when I tried to click on them.
I tried Fix Permissions in Clockworkmod recovery, but it didn't help. My Android Market app and all of my file manager apps didn't work, so I couldn't reinstall any apps. When I'd wipe all the data on my phone, but only restore the System backup, the Android Market would work and the phone basically returns to stock. But as soon as I restore my Data backup, everything breaks.
At this point, I've already wiped the phone and started over from scratch, but I'm afraid to rely on Clockworkmod/Rom Manager for backups again. Any ideas what went wrong?
did you flash a different kernel? this may be the issue, as I know that for other devices CWM does not restore the kernel.
this happens when your backups/card gets corrupted... it could of been a number of things... changing the name of something to how much you scan the card... hard to say exactly what caused it... If your really worried about it I would suggest making a backup of your backup on your computer just to be safe...

I did make a backup of my backup, but it's not like these backups sat on the memory card for months before they got used. I ran the restore within minutes of when I made the last backup. Besides, aren't the backups hashed with md5 and then retested before restoring? So, if the files did get corrupted, I would think Clockworkmod would have notified me, no?
I just wish that after making a backup, there was some way to test it out without taking the chance of trashing my phone.
Regarding using a different kernel, I did not. I did not flash any experimental/downloaded images, these were simple backups and restores of my existing phone data.

This is for phones that dont support Nand like the vibrant. HTC phones is a full backup including kernel.

Your right, CWM does do a md5 check when restoring. I'm sorry, I don't know what could be wrong. I currently have like 5 backups of 4 ROMS and have to restored to just to play around. Did you do apps2sd? This can cause major issues when switching ROM's.
I am also having a problem restoring to my stock rom. how big does my backup file have to be?
I have had this problem before. I think in my case my issue was caused by and incompatible version of CWM. I found that to be safe, I usually make two back ups, one with recovery in 2.5.12 and one with 3.0.0.6.
It was the file. It was only 60mb, apparently I ran out of memory thanks though my other backups work fine and I found the stock rom on a thread.

cool ker2gsr! Happy to help. I was thinking about building another nandroid of 0075 without Lenovo bloatware. I'm guessing both types of backups might be useful in the long run.

No issues to speak of. It is a factory reset, booted through startup without wifi, no account info provided, Lenovo standard bloatware, and no customization. SuperUser is already installed and active. The backup folder was renamed and then added to a zip file.
My tablet has a Gobi3000 wwan card installed, otherwise a standard 1838 with 32gb storage.
I hope it helps anyone who didn't get a backup made before upgrading.
Unzip file to sd-card /clockworkmod/backup/
Put sd-card in tablet
Shut down, boot to CWR, (make your own backup), restore to 0075

I keep getting a MD5 checksum error. I have tried to re-downloading several times but still getting the error. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Try from the uploads I put on everyrandom.com today. The previously linked one was uploaded (550MB) on 3G cell service, likely screwing it up somehow.
edit: everyrandom.com/files wasn't serving the files correctly. They have been removed.

I was also so I installed the second CWM version about half way through that thread, and the restore went smooth.
Whoa, I just realized I never installed the improved CWR port. Mine is the original CWR that was offered up on the first day of Root. I should remember that because I ALWAYS pull my SD-Card out before performing factory resets. I heard the CWR update fixed that...
I'll note that in my Nandroid post. Thanks for the heads up.
I figured out what was going on. I guess when I extracted the files, it put the files in a sub folder with the name as the original folder.
I tried to download from the other post also, but it was like the files had been removed from the site.

I updated the CWM on my TPT with this version & I discovered that the recovery console is not as stable.
No long after I reboot into CWM recovery, perhaps about 10 secs, my TPT rebooted itself.
Has anyone observed this behavior?
I'm going to try download again & see how it goes.

I've gone today from a custom ROM (Smooth ROM 5.2) manually to JWR66V JB 4.3.
Before that I made a Titanium Backup and then a factory reset.
I've insalled a pre-rooted rom from a zip file with CWM recovery. I've also flashed SU
(SuperSU-JWR66N-S005-130625-1.41.zip).Busybox is installed, TB root acceess granted.
The app sees all my backup files but still fails to work.
I can neither backup nor restore anything.
When I try to backup an app I get a "backup failed insufficient free storage" message.
When I try to restore an app it stucks,that is is starts and keeps restoring until I manually close TB.
I would appreciate your helping ideas. Thanks!
I have the same problem, I was stck 4.2.2 updated to 4.3 (erasing everything) via fastboot, everything great and fine, flashed SU, all ok and working but TB refuses to restore anything. It just cycles... any clues?

I think I'll flash 4.2.2, try restore my apps and settings via TB and re-upgrade 4.3 manually w/o earsing. I wonder if such an update is wipe or not?

If you update via OTA, then it won't erase anything...

We're not such idiots, thank you Ofcourse we changed the path, it still hangs. If we didn't change the path, it wouldn't have found the backups, would it?
I didn't change paths and it did see my backups but it didn't restore.
I didn't call anyone idiot, but people are so sensitive this days...long story short I don't give a flying **** anymore

Fixing permissions might be the key. I did everything else (re-flash SU, clear dalvik cache) but same issue. I am on 4.2.2 again, just restoring things with TB. Going to upgrade using rooted 4.3 flashable zip. Let's see what happens

I've found the way restoring apps & settings. It's a workarond. Flashed 4.2.2 JDQ39 and rooted ROM, flashed CWM. Installed TB. Recovered what I wanted.

As explained a few posts ago by nasty007 (thanks buddy by the way), titanium backup uses an incorrect path... even if it founds your previous backups.

Change the path from /storage/emulated/0/TitaniumBackup to /storage/emulated/legacy/TitaniumBackup to fix the problem.
This worked for me !

Note: I know it's a different device and I'm not subscribing to this thread, but I just want to chime in and say the folder path mentioned in this linked article sorted TB out for me on my HTC One...
In TB I chose to change to backup path, scanned for backup folders, and simply selected the 'legacy' path that it detected.. After changing the backup path from `/storage/emulated/0/TitaniumBackup` to `/storage/emulated/legacy/TitaniumBackup` everything started working again. This just saved me a good few GBs of downloading...

My question is regarding restoring TB's in Android 4.3 vs 4.2.x. Do you need to change the backup path before you backup while in a 4.2.x rom or when you are in the 4.3 rom and want to restore? I am a noob so please excuse if this is a silly question.
I have CM 10.1.3 (running 4.2.2) in my rom slot 1 and I want to flash LiquidSmooth 2.10 (running 4.3) in rom slot 3 so I want to know if I can restore my user apps & data in Titanium Backup once I'm in a 4.3 rom. I have the free version of TB but I will buy the paid version if what I am asking is possible. Please help if possible. Thanks!

On my SM-N900W8 Note 3, I've had it running a rooted stock rom.
Yesterday I decided to try out Gummy Rom....did a backup in TWRP.....I also backed up all my apps with Titanium just to be safe.. wiped data....installed Gummy Rom....it just wasn't for me.
Wiped data again......restored my stock rooted rom that I've been using this whole time........phone booted up without a problem...SUCCESS! At least I thought success....started to notice some errors with some of the apps I have...
Wasn't able to get any of my snapchats....swiftkey was giving me errors.....then I tired to save a picture and saw that it had failed....strange
I Have several gigs available on my internal and external SD card....
Opening up Titanium....I can see that all folders, internal AND external say "This folder is not writable."
Anyone have any ideas?

Update: I've installed SDFix, and I can now save to my external SD card.....however I still can't save to my internal memory.
Try to rewipe all the system and data then reflash the backup again , just give it a chance good luck

I am afraid to tell it's probably a bad backup caused by twrp try to install the latest version of it and then restore ,if didn't work the backup is bad and nothing to do further as I know

I'm going to try and unroot my phone......reroot it, and restore......
If that doesn't help it, then I guess my backup is bad......I don't know what else it could be :\
Rerooting do nothing it's not about root permission it's what inside the backup , anyway last thing to do is to flash the stock rom not the backup and losing the data unfortunately

What I find weird though is after I ran SDFix, I'm able to save to my sd card again
It seems like some sort of permission problem

Before leaving my S4 Active and moving to this S5 (G900F), I made a backup of all my apps using Titanium Backup. Everything went fine during the process; no errors whatsoever. I then rooted my phone using CF-Auto Root then flashed TWRP. Now that I'm trying to restore the apps, it says 'There is a problem parsing the package.' When I press OK, it says that it's restoring the app but in reality it's not. The screen stays like that forever until I kill the process.
Any idea why this happened and how to fix it? Thank you.

Wrong android version for the apps maybe?

Hmm. If I remember correctly, my S4 Active was on 5.0.1 when I made the backup and my S5 is still on 5.0. Is there a workaround for this? Tried changing the android version in build.prop but it didn't work.

Not sure, I know with my tablet, we could flash Android versions > upwards and keep apps/data - but downgrading to a previous version would cause a bootloop, so we would have to wipe apps/data first
Could also be because it's from a different device altogether, not tried restoring between devices before

I've read some posts here that simply transferring the backup files to a new phone would work though. Is there any way to manually extract the data from the files and restore it?
You can use TiBu to make an 'update zip' you can then do one of two things.....
1) copy the zip to the new device and attempt to flash it from a custom recovery.
2) copy the zip to your new device and extract it.....You'll have all your apps in the extracted folder, and you *should* be able to manually 'sideload' install them.
When making the update zip, there is an option where you can select 'app only' which is probably the best option (rather than 'data only' or 'app + data'). I have a feeling that it is the backed up app data that is causing your issues....so selecting 'app + data' in tibu will land you right back where you started (if you attempt to flash the zip in custom recovery).

But it's the app data that I'm really after. Also, I've tried restoring as 'App Only' but the same error pops up.
Will have to try this later. Thanks!

Well, there is that 'data only' option in TiBu, but I honestly think that it is the data that is causing your issues.....especially if it's data from a 'system' app or data from apps that downloaded 'additional files' when you ran the app for the first time.....

Tried restoring data only, it says the process had finished but it didn't do anything. Now I'm getting UIDs are inconsistent after I rebooted.
The app I tried to restore was Color Switch, it's not a system app and it didn't download anything when I first opened it.

Tried flashing the update.zip. After reboot, Titanium says the batch operation has finished but all the apps ('elements') had failed.
I'm guessing it's the whole previous version of Android problem I get with my tab, I mentioned originally
Try flashing a custom 5.0.1 or higher ROM, see if it accepts the restore then

Good stuff, yea it's some sort of backwards compatibility thing, you can go up a version and restore older apps, but you can't restore apps from a newer version to an older one for some reason, I guess because the newer version understands the older apps as it was upgraded from that build, but the older droid version has no idea the newer version exists and has no support for the changes

Weird though since backups I made when I was on CM 12.1 worked when I went back to the official firmware (5.0.1) on my S4 Active a few weeks ago.

What version droid is CM12.1? 5.1.1 ?
Maybe it's some restriction Samsung has added to their ROMs preventing restoring from a different device
Just strange it works exactly that way with my tab too, works going up a version, but not back (Custom to Custom too)

Yup, CM12.1 is based on 5.1.1. Anyway, thanks for the help! Do you know of any other backup apps I can try using?

I just make Nandroid backups with TWRP recovery - you can use TiBu to restore them too
I've currently got this problem
Flashing from same phone, same Android version Kitkat stock.
Titanium couldnt restore app or data, it says parse error then just idles "restoring app" but nothing happens, have to reboot.
I did have a nandroid TWRP backup stored on storage card, but after restoring that, I get "your something ID is mismatched, your phone will be unstable. You must wipe /data partition" everytime booting Android and the phone did seem unstable (black icons remain in launcher even after uninstalled). After an hour with that message I decided to wipe /data and shelf off twrp backup. Now with Titanium backup it seems I'm going to have the same problem.
