I have some questions about customizing moto g6 plus boot animation. - Moto G6 Plus Questions & Answers

I recently switched from using iPhones to a moto g6 plus in hopes of better customizability and so far I'm not disappointed. I got excited when I heard that it's actually possible to change the boot animation on android devices, but I kind of hit a roadblock while trying to apply one.
My main concern is that the default boot animation contains mp4 files while the boot animations that are available for download are frame-by-frame ones. Are these two types cross-compatible or do I have to find or make custom mp4 boot animations for my phone ? Additionally I'd like to know if there are already existing mp4 animations that are compatible with the moto g6 plus. I'm terribly sorry if this question was already answered somewhere but after extensive searching I was unable to find any solid threads discussing this topic.

Yeah it's possible to change bootanimation on Android phones but we need root for that.
There's some apps, magisk modules and we can change it manually placing our bootanimation(.zip) on this path:
/System/media
Here an example extracted form havoc ROM from our G6 Plus
Remember if you change it, first made a backup of your stock bootanimation

build.prop optimization

Hey guys,
Between the attached build.prop file & an app titled Memory Locker, my multi-tasking experience has never been smoother.
So I figured I would share & get a larger discussion going. Some of my values are popular Android tweaks. Others are taken from the CM12 ROM in the development section. Others were experimental or hunch-based. Before anyone asks, dalvik.vm.heapminfree=512m was supposed to read dalvik.vm.heapminfree=512k, but 512m works great & a switch back to 512k slowed my boot time.
I am running a rooted KitKat stock rom, but I presume that most of these values would work for Lollipop as well. I would be curious to see the stock build.prop post Lollipop update.
Disclaimer: don't mistake me for being a genius who understands what all this stuff does exactly.
mine says dalvik.vm.heapminfree=2m do you know anymore tips on how to make my Z3TC smoother please share thanks

[guide][moto g][dual sim] setting seperate ringtone on moto g dual sim

First i would like to mention i am not a developer but a newbie learning about android.
Second i have searched the forum but i did not get any thread mentioning anything about this.
I am a proud owner of moto g xt1033 running resurrection remix rom 5.5.1 based android 5.1.1.
For sometimes I was searching for a guide to know how to set separate ringtones for the sims but i could not. I have even tried some apps that are meant for this but it didn't help. After fiddling a bit with settings i got how to do so.
What you have to do is to go to the dialer>open the three dot menu>go to settings>calling accounts>select the sim u want to change the ringtone for> done
You have successfully set different ringtones for the sims
p.s. it is my first post as a new thread if u find it long please bear with me.
thanx
Went there and clicked on additional settings. there is no choice for ring tone, only call waiting choice. I am using Moto G 3rd generation with Android Marshmellow.

'Pixelated' Nexus 6P

Hey guys, this is my first thread on XDA so im not really sure how this works however, i have a few questions that you tech heads can answer... hopefully!
I have flashed a zip file that includes of Pixel features like google assistant, pixel launcher, rounded icons, blue accents etc. My Nexus 6P is basically a Pixel phone from my understanding, in the 'about phone' section it says Pixel XL under Model and has a build number of NDE63H. I am running on 7.1.1 DP1.
My questions are:
I received a beta update (NPF26F) and i have tried to install it but the phone just restarts and doesnt change anything. I have even downloaded the Flashfire app and tried to do it there but it hasnt recognise that its downloading and i cant find the update in the system. help!!!
also, ive been wanting to try out the Resurrection Rom but im thinking that because my phone isnt really a 6P apart from the looks, would i harm my phone? eg, changing the vendor and so on.
Thanks in advance, again, please dont judge, im new at this sort of thing!
thanks!
You'd flash a matching vendor image and your ROM of choice and gapps. But first you'd have to wipe system and factory reset

Apps and OS suggestions?

Hi, and thanx for the chance to introduce myself. My name is Tom and I've only just realized that anyone can make modifications to their Android phone. I found XDA when I googled a search for how to jailbreak my Verizon Moto Z Play, I take it from reading posts that unlocking it is not possible yet. (Hopefully soon).
For now I am using an XT1607 Moto G4 Play which I bought with the SIM unlocked and I've also Unlocked the bootloader. I'm looking forward to developing my own apps,
but for now I'm wondering what modifications would be recommended for the Moto G4? I'm not familiar with the various firmware and software modifications and though I've found some apps to add, I would welcome suggestions for those as well.
Thanx, and Semper Fi to any of my USMC brothers

After unlocking your device, one of the first things you'd want to do is install a Custom Recovery like TWRP or CMD. I use TWRP. You can search four your device and download the correct file here: https://twrp.me/Devices/
This will allow you to create backups of your system, install Custom Roms (modified OS), give you root access and install modified apps, to name some things.
So once you installed a custom recovery, you might want to try a cusrom rom. They offer some great extra features. Just make sure to create a full backup (also called "nandroid") in TWRP before, just in case something goes wrong.
One of the most popular, stable and fluid ones is LineageOS: https://download.lineageos.org . It hasn't got so many extra features but works great!
An other good rom for what I've heared is InvictaOS. It's a bit more customizable than lineage and works great as well.
An other good thing to do is root your phone. You can achieve this by installing magisk's zip it TWRP, and then installing the Magisk Manager .apk. You can download both from the magisk thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
This will work on your stock rom as well as on custom roms.
Install Adaway to remove popup add like videos in games: https://adaway.org (root needed for this)
An other cool mod is this modified youtube app to remove all adds from videos and allow to play with the screen off or the app in the background: https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-iytbp-injected-youtube-background-t3560900
All the information you need is in the first, second and third post.
I'd probably recomend the third post method, using the magisk module. It's the easiest one, you just have to download the file for you CPU architecture (arm for moto g4) and install it in the magisk manager, in the modules section pressing the "+" icon (Root also needed for this).
You can find guides to all of this on youtube, and always read all the instructions before trying anything.
Many of your questions will have most likely already been asked, so also search the threads before asking something.
Good luck!

Nethunter OnePlus 8 pro lineage 20

Forgive me if I post this in the wrong place, move it if necessary np.
Xda has been my go to for many many phones over the years. Many years. But recently I've grown a little deeper interest with the phone I currently own.
I need some clarity if anyone could please.
I've got a OnePlus 8 pro IN2025 on lineage 20 (whatever latest build in relation to the date on this post) and rooted with magisk 26.1.
Everything is running awesome. Even been able to remove a few Google system apps I despise.. this setup is reminiscent of a couple phones I've run on CM.. I thought those days were over.
So much appreciation to those keeping development alive. Much love.
To the point:
I'm trying to run as much of nethunter as possible without flashing it (and maybe I have the wrong idea so please correct me)
To my understanding, nethunter will require me downgrading to Android 12 with some other ROM - crdroid etc..
Flash twrp\ nethunter - then I have the nethunter ROM installed.
Problem is, I'm still a little attached to some Google stuff. I limit it, but there that is.
I've got the Kali app store installed and a few toys I can play with -
Question is, when I flash nethunter, is it like flashing any other ROM? Thats it. Or is there an equivalent to a "USB live version" that's temporary.. have I gone as far as I can without flashing?
I'm not interested in getting rid of lineage in favor of nethunter.
Thanks in advance. You guys are awesome!
