Google Camera and Camera2 API - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

Okay...new to xda....
I own an OnePlus 6T and I have installed GCam 6...it's working fine...but i have a couple of doubts tho'
1. Camera2 API is not level 3 for op6t...should i enable it by editing build.prop?
2. What are those front cam options? and how does it affect the photo?
3. Does portrait mode work only for faces and not for objects in GCam?

Porting the s6 camera2 api

I see some Roms now with S6 apps etc.. is it possible to port over the camera2 api from it also?
With that API we can use MANUAL focus, white balance etc. with 3rd party camera apps like Camera-FX and others.

Ok, thank you!
I enabled camera 2 api and I am experiencing a crazy battery drain with mokee ROM. Is it normal? The battery drops 10 % in a matter of 10min and the phone gets really hot
How many of the manual settings stated in the manual camera compatibility app are supported after enabling camera2 api?

But RAW pictures are buggy on our phone, atleast on my phone
Edit: I had 3 reboots within a short time while opening camera apps since I've edited the build.prop. I'm on official RR, but the camera2 features are working fine (except raw), thanks for sharing!

Camera fv-5, snap cam (from play store), open camera and a lot others, they have to support camera2 api. On some camera apps you have to enable it manually in the settings. Then you can control shutter speed and some other things. I've attached also a picture, on the left side the shutter speed is short and on the right side the shutter speed is a lot longer. So for "normal" pictures you won't need manual controls, but in some cases it can be useful.

Thanks for the guide.....this has solve the problem of reboot while using third party camera apps......google camera is also working without any problem
At least. MANY DIGITAL COOKIES TO THE OP. This was a thing that I was asking before even buying the phone. Many thanks to the OP.
Hmm I am using Snap Camera with camera2 API. Best thing) But it's need to activate camera2 in the Snap Camera settings (menu--"other"tab--go down and check Camera2 API string). Nice manual focus and manual settings in the HDR mode) Snap camera may a RAW format. There opens in built-in viewer and (who installed) can be pen into Snapseed editor.
Example of the photo in HDR mode with manual settings) Sorry for my curved hands and academical English)))
My curved hands cannot make good man ual photos yet)) Who knows Russian - you can check 4pda.ru forum--Redmi Note 3 Pro Camera branch. http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=750102&st=860 Many people tested this hint and VEEEEERY pleasured)))

Google Camera HDR+ Port

Can anyone explain following settings to me.
Gernal:
Support level override
SUPPORTED HW LEVEL BACK CAMERA
SUPPORTED HW LEVEL FRONT CAMERA
Photo:
Config camera
I am using this version "BSG 5.1.014_v1.5g" from this site. The best settings for me:
Model: Nexus 6P (sharp images)
Config camera HDR+: PIXEL 2016 ZSL Hdr (sharp images and working ZSL)
HDR+ parameters: High (medium/high work fine, anything above crashes HDR engine with strong light)
Do not forget to restart the camera app once you modify settings and let us know your experience

Mi A1 GCam not working portrait in rear camera

MiA1 developers to create GCAM but need to portrait mode in rear camera it's not work after installation without root a phone.overall front camera is work to fine
Portrait mode in default camera app of mi a1 uses dual lens system to generate bokeh by focussing on the subject and blurs the background...
Whereas GCAMMOD uses various algorithms in the software to detect the subject and blurs out the other stuff as background...
Which results in ALMOST similar effects when you take portraits for human subjects via rear camera from both applications...
But the difference is seen when you try to click portraits for non human subjects... Xiaomi app does its job well in that case but GCAMMOD fails to detect the non human subject because algorithms dont seem to help much in that case and our phone doesn't possess pixel hardware so it's a fail

I also enabled EIS and camera2 API without root method. Front camera portrait works but I am also unable to use EIS on GCam

Camera2 API

So I am on stock EUI and decided to enable camera2 api by editing build prop. After rebooting, I noticed most of the features are limited.
4K video is disabled.
SLR (or portrait mode) is not working.
Some apps that uses camera2 api malfunctions.
GCam cannot connect to camera and then FC.
Manual Camera can't display realtime camera, and most probably can't take photos as well, tho the parameter readings suggests camera2 api is enabled as well as others (RAW, MANUALS).
Are these fixable?

You can't use HAL3 in EUI. If you want to use HAL3 , then flash Pie roms. But Stock cam will not work.
