Please help Galaxy S8 SM-G950U bricked - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Long time reader of these forums, first time poster.
A friend of mine tried switching his Sprint Galaxy S8 to verizon and odin failed, and the phone wont load past the Sprint logo.
I tried fixing by loading the latest SPR firmware, but odin fails doing that as well. I've tried Odin v3.12.7 and odin 3b patched, and Odin PrinceComsy.
When I try to flash just the CSC it errors:
SW REV CHECK FAIL : [cache]Fused 5 > Binary 1
When I try to flash AP, BL, CP, and the CSC, the error SW REV CHECK FAIL : [boot]Fused 4 > Binary 1
I have scoured the internet and forums for about a month now, to no avail.
Am I using the wrong firmware? Wrong version of Odin?? Warranty Void : 0x0 means the warranty is still good, so should I just take it to sprint and let them reflash the firmware onto it? HELP!

0x0 means warranty good. Can't really trip a U
Those errors show as if you are trying to downgrade you are trying to flash what looks to be all revision 1 firmware. You need at least bit 5 5th digit back so I would look up this firmware G950USQU5CRL2/G950UOYN5CRL2 (USA (Verizon) - VZW) or G950U1UES5CRL2/G950U1OYM5CRL2 (Spint (cdma) - SPR).
It's weird to throw 2 different fused 4 and 5. Either way this device can't bee rooted so I would download the absolute latest. BTW 5crl2 that 5 is the bit number. 1 thru 5 I believe is all there are for the s8 right now

It is still on the sprint network so I think I need to just flash G950USQU5CSA4 - GALAXY S8 SM-G950U VZW USA (VERIZON), right?

Just the Verizon csc from that firmware. You have to download it and flash I believe the home csc wih a Verizon sim in. As long as the device is sim unlocked

Trouble flashing AT&T S5?

I'm about ready to pull my hair out, I figured a firmware flash wouldn't be this big of a pita but it has been. This is a SM-G900A and I'm trying to help out a co worker, she said she did a update on it and its locked up constantly since, I'm not sure what version she had on it but i can get it into odin mode, I tried factory reseting it and it still locks up, when I've tryed to flash to a factory firmware i've dug up using odin I get a SW Rev Check Fail : [aboot]Fused 4 > Binary 1. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
AT&T lock their bootloaders......
You mention something about your colleague updating the device......
That would mean the device probably OTA'd to Lollipop.
The locked bootloader means that you *cannot* roll back to KitKat.....
From now on, your choice of firmware you can flash is limited to Lollipop or Lollipop.....or you could try Lollipop
Sorry fella....blame AT&T....it's entirely their fault.....
http://i.imgur.com/rVnFwJM.jpg
Is there a Lolipop firmware I can redo it with? The phone freezes/restarts constantly after we do a factory reset with it.

There are only 2 websites I am aware of where you can source firmwares......
Sammobile dot com
Samsung-updates dot com
XDA doesn't allow direct linking of those sites, but replace the word 'dot' with the symbol and you should get there....
Edit.....just checked both sites and they only carry 4.4.2 firmwares.....
Sorry fella....don't know of any other sites that could help.....
I'm guessing the phone has never been modified (knox at 0x0?)......
If so, you could try an AT&T outlet to see if they will do a complete re-flash to 'repair' the device....
.....or (involuntarily shudders) Use (cringe) Kies to do an emergency recovery.....

Secure Check Fail: (PIT) - Can't flash original firmware

Hey guys.
Just trying to get back to stock on a Samsung S7 Edge.
Had no issues with device, with root.
Went to reset as I sold it, and it failed.
Have since done the following.
1. Tried to use odin to reinstall original firmware. Fails with SECURE CHECK FAIL : (PIT) in download mode.
2. Formatted the data partition in TWRP. This worked and allowed me to boot into a reset OS.
3. Tried to wipe system partition in a hope to allow me to modify it. Worked, but now have no OS.
4. Continually tried to use odin to flash without success. Device is detected, but when flashing keep getting the SECURE CHECK FAIL message.
Out of ideas on what to try next.
Any help much appreciated.
Adding a couple of screenshots in case it helps.

P.S. I'm using Odin on Windows via Parallels on a Mac if that makes any difference.

Can you get to Download Mode? Why don't you flash everything through ODIN? That'll fix it for sure.

For anyone else with this issue, double check the firmware is correct for the device. I had downloaded the wrong firmware.
All worked fine in parallels with the correct firmware.

When you decompress the firmware you can see two file, CSC and HOME CSC, we usualy flash the HOME CSC.
Try Flashing the CSC, it works to me

Just find the newest firmware release and that should work. Also can reboot recovery and select view recovery logs and click /cache/recovery/last_log and roughly 4 clicks down with your volume button, maybe 5 or 6 you should see firmware that's in use.
I wish to update my Samsung SM-N960F/DS from Android 9 to Android 10 using ODIN.

I notice in download mode Product Name is SM-N960N

Did you use the CSC_HOME or CSC file? You should use CSC and if need copy and paste CSC to a different folder, in file explorer hit view and check box "file name extensions" and add extension .zip to CSC file, extract and find .PIT file and use that file when you flash as well as the usual firmware. That will repartition the device. I'm sure you've seen the PIT option in Odin. Make sure it is the correct firmware when you download the new firmware.

CHANGE FIRMWARE try latest Android of the same version
I had the same issue flashing 7.0 caused the problem
BUT
Flashing the same verion LATEST ANDROID 8.0 Solved
my Problem Successfully 100000.....% Tested by Sireal
i already try it but it fails

Im an idiot, i bricked my phone, and i need help..

So, ive been away from the rooting scene since i had my droid 2, got an s7 edge on release day, and decided it was high time to root it yesterday. So long story short, i rooted it, was going fine, decided to use flashfire to flash xposed, and something went wrong. The phone will turn on and stay at the "Samsung galaxy s7 edge-Custom-Powered by android" screen. I didnt pay attention to what firmware i was on, i just know it was a sm-g935v, so i decided to reflash some U firmware (G935UUEU2APEH_CL8086184_QB9638174_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT), that didn't go to well. Am i flashing the wrong firmware? Am i compeltely screwed? Any help is greatly appreciated!
Im getting this when i try to flash
SM REV CHECK FAIL : [aboot]Fused 4 > Binary 2
[1]eMMC write fail: aboot.
You can try going to Verizon stock firmware (or U firmware too I suppose), here's the "How To": http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-s7-edge/how-to/firmware-verizon-s7-edge-t3344092
The write fail for aboot is the bootloader I believe, so something error'd there it didn't like.
You're flashing an old revision of the u firmware. Your fused bootloader is revision 4 so you have to flash the U firmware on revision 4. That would be Api3
---------- Post added at 03:40 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:32 PM ----------
If you got into download mode look at the second to last line of info in the top left. Should be RP:SWAEV: B4(otherstuffhere) b4 signifies your bootloader version. If it's b4 you need to flash the api3. Further more Samsung phones require a special version of xposed or they go into a boot loop
use Odin and you can reflash the stock firmware . If you want to root you can try it again.. You are soft bricked.. and not bricked.. your phone can be repaired.. I have also used Samsung Kies to restore to stock, but you need the serial number of your phone to do so.

I have tried flashing an unlocked Samsung S8 with the above Verizon firmware but I am running into a problem. I set up to flash the BL, AP, CP and HOME_CSC files and Odin begins the process but hangs for many minutes at "Setup Connection", and then eventually states FAIL for reprogramming. It knows the phone is connected and "added" on the right COM port but will not flash. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for the help, a lot!!!!! I am running Odin3 v3.13

I was enabling USB debug in developer mode but when I went into download mode it would not work. Apparently I am fat fingered and deselected USB debugging so no usable connection. Once got that done used ¡BBB! Odin patched (THANK YOU SIR!!!!!!!!) and loaded the files above. Reflashed and rebooted in a few minutes, got PASS out of Odin and phone booted up just fine. Now I am able to enable the Advanced Calling feature which I sorely needed living in a lousy reception cell zone area. Thanks all for the work you put in, it is most appreciated!

It sounds like you are trying to flash a version 2 bootloader when you already have a version 3 BL installed. You need to find an updated ROM that has the version 3 BL.

I knw all that. I meant to say it's Verizon carrier firmware not att. Cuz i have installed it on my phone and there are few Verizon apps in there.
BTW... When I Odin the files my neice disconnected the cable from pc and process didn't complete(I think it finished around 75%). When I tried going to download mode again for reinstall it gave me emergency recovery software error. Furnately, I was able to access my phone without any problem and nothing got deleted, but all my Samsung apps detecting it as modified firmware and whenever I try going to recover mode, download mode or safe mode I get the Emergency recovery error.
& I'm getting 4 options for software update now in settings.
Samsung pay and pass saying my phone is rooted.
Any suggestions how to Odin files again cuz I'm unable to get to download mode now. Thanks

Is your device or service provider from Verizon? Also, you may have flashed the odin files incorrectly. I see that you have 2 software update sections. Make sure you back up your files, flash odin files to their correct slots. BL to BL, AP to AP, CP to CP, CSC to CSC and flash userdata to Userdata/UMS. Also, flash with odin version 3.13.1. That should fix the problem.

My phone is usa unlocked. & i flashed Odin files in correct slots including userdata. The process just didn't complete cuz my phone got disconnected. Now main problem is that I can't get back to download mode. It gives me emergency recovery error whenever i try it. So can't use Odin to flash any files. Thanks

That's download mode i have been on that screen before here's what you do, go back to that screen just like you posted then plug phone in open Odin add the tar files and proceed with that error emergency screen it will install your tar odins, once it passes odin that screen will be back to normal.

Hey Venom0642,
I have updated my Note 8 to 4cre5. I want to get my phone back to cre1. I have switched carriers to Cricket. When I try to Odin cre1 to my phone it says it worked but it went fast and it is still on Cre5.
Any idea what to do?

1st Thank You for your work!
So this can be flashed on AT&T devices? Someone stated that it's for Verizon and I'm confused with that statement. Also
There's 2 CSC files?
CSC_OYN &
HOME_CSC_OYN
Which one do I use in CSC slot and where does the other go?
