[REQUEST] Screenshots / videos of T-mobile version recovery mode - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

Hi folks,
To maintain Oxygen Updater, a tool to allow updating OnePlus smartphones faster, I'd like to know some things about the T-Mobile variant of the OnePlus 6T:
- Is it true that it has no 'local upgrade' option in the System Updates section of the settings app?
- Is it true that sideloading / flashing update packages in the stock recovery mode is not possible?
- Are there any other ways (without requiring a computer, root or unlocked bootloader) to update this device - other than waiting for the official OTA popup to appear?
Since I don't live in the USA, I cannot get my hands on one myself to answer these questions.
Therefore, i ask if somebody can answer these questions & post some pictures / screenshots of the stock recovery mode & the system update section of this 6T variant. That way i can confirm if the t-mobile device can actually be supported in the Oxygen Updater app. Your help is highly appreciated!

Simple guide for unofficial BL unlock, TWRP, root - Redmi Note 3 Pro Kenzo SD

This guide is meant for people that have experience in flashing Android phones. I just consolidated the information from various threads around the web, so it's easier to find.
Advice here works on the latest Lollipop MIUI stable ROM, 8.0.5.0 LHOMIDG for Kenzo Snapdragon version. I tested it myself.
Just to be clear, I am not responsible for any possible problems you may encounter white attempting to do anything mentioned in this post.
1. follow this guide to unlock the Bootloader unofficially ( http://en.miui.com/thread-253680-1-1.html )
2. do not use "emmc_appsboot.mbn" from the above thread, or you will have a bug that causes your notification led light to blink red constantly, while the phone is connected with a USB cable to a charger, or a PC.
3. use "emmc_appsboot.mbn" from this thread ( http://en.miui.com/thread-280771-1-1.html ), or if you prefer, this is the direct link ( https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B6qi9i0uOR-BY21NRGxVN1JiRDQ )
4. install recovery from this thread ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/how-to/zcx-twrp-install-twrp-flash-supersu-t3462448 )
That is all. Enjoy.
EDIT: Apps that are safe to freeze with Titanium backup are listed in the attached screenshots. Remember, do not uninstall or remove them. Just freeze them. List updated on 10. Nov 2016
Also, my advice is not to bother with official BL unlock. It's just a data mining operation by Xiaomi. They use it to get your e-mail account, phone number, location and who knows what else... Also, avoid any MI related services, like MI accounts, storages, backups and sync.
After rooting the phone, FREEZE but do not REMOVE any bloat apps. Do not forget to firewall MI apps!
ty for this, although I agree with you they use this for data mining, but unlocked it officialy anyway, because they gave me permission in few hours... Also unlocking only takes like 5sec,
I use dropbox & google stuff so they have my data already
Agreed, but there is no need to add Chinese to the mix
I will post a list of apps that are safe to freeze in a few days, as soon as I finish testing.
List of apps ( screenshots ) added in the first post.
Updated the list of frozen apps. This is as good as it gets, without getting force close on anything.
Thank you. Your thread helped me with the red light issue.
mhm, this method work in miui 8 global 6.12.1 beta? ( dev)
tested and success. thanks you

@Tomo123
Please confirm, that Using this ROM as base would work for unlocking unofficially?
http://bigota.d.miui.com/V8.0.5.0.LHOMIDG/miui_HMNote3ProGlobal_V8.0.5.0.LHOMIDG_a831ea486e_5.1.zip
And, i plan to use AOSP roms, but please tell me how to go back to STOCK MIUI ROM[without brick] in future if i decide to unlock officially, i have already got the permission, but the unlock tool stuck at 50%.. cant wait more...
Thanks for the help.
Confirmed working.
I'm on MIUI Global 8.2 (8.2.9.99 LHOMIDG) will this procedure work? I just got my Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon variant today and i want to Root it, Xposed it and Enjoy it

@Tomo123
Thanks for the reply, i could unlock the bootloader successfully, but i have a problem.
when i rebooted to the MIUI system ROM while in the process to unlock(after unlocking the bootloader),
i could observe that there was no network, my 4G sim couldnt be detected.. And thereafter when i try CM14.1 or RR rom, i get network but cant make calls/sms but 4G data works.
I tried a few Nougat firmwares, but same problem of no calls/sms
I am getting the feeling it all started from the 5.1 MIUI ROM with no network..
So i was thinking to flash the latest global/dev Marshmallow ROM and start over the BL unlock process.. will it help? have any ideas?
And the most important Ques is that the bootloader talked here would even work on With marshmallow ROM for unofficial unlock or not?
Please suggest.
Thanks.
I've tried this guide loads of times now and I'm always stuck with "FAILED (remote: oem unlock is not allowed".
All the info regarding the problem mention to boot into the system and turn on oem unlock in the developer options. But I can't boot with the modified emmc_appsboot.mbn I only get the Mi logo flashing.
Any ideas?

Bootloader locked, custom rom: how to go back to stock?

Hi everybody,
My past Zuk Edge died, so i bought a new one.
Unfortunately, the website where i bought it sent me a "modified" Zuk Edge:
It's in 2.3.079 ST (ZUI Version) based on Android 6.0.1 BUT...
- it's an unofficial ROM (not the Stock one) cause for example a lot of languages are available (not only English & Chinese), i can't find the "Search for updates" button, a lot of Chinese apps (like WeChat etc) are not there, GAPPS were already installed on the device, some icons are different...
- i think there is a Custom Recovery because when i reboot into recovery mode, the device asked me "Chinese" or "English" language and then i have a screen where i can reboot, poweroff, or... "install update package", so i guess its a custom recovery? (TWRP? Another one? How can i know?)
Anyways, i was so pissed off, until i rebooted my device into bootloader mode... I was surprise, but it's still saying "Device state - locked"...
I know this is the only think which is non-reversible and which make me UNABLE to get OTA updates forever, so i'm glad they haven't unlocked it.
Now i'm a bit lost. How should i proceed to go back to a perfectly 100% original Zuk Edge? Like NO custom recovery, and go back to Official Stock ROM?
PS: the device ISN'T rooted (i checked with Root Checker)
use QPST to flash this

Update to Android 8.0 Oreo

Hi all,
I'm on WAS-LX1AC432B184 and i can't update via OTA because "no update" and I think there's update as a friend of mine has the same phone but different build numbers as i needed to unlock my dual sim capability.
When i bought my phone i could only use 1 sim then i changed it to a dual sim. Can this be the reason why i can't get updates? The guy that did the dual sim conversion told me that i will be able to get updates as normal but i don't at all.
Please help me get the latest update so that i can enjoy the new Android – 8.0 Oreo
Hey there, by looking at your build number, you've got a 3GB RAM variant (LX1 instead of LX1A) Dual SIM (even build number) P10 lite on the global cust (C432).
The strange thing is the build number, stuck at 184 when Nougat arrived at B209/210 (Oreo is at B360/361).
Maybe you did some kind of modification (root, bad EMUI flash in the past) to the system so you can't receive official Huawei updates via OTA?
Have you tried clicking on the top right in System Update > Download latest full package?
Just some guesses here…
Probably, the you're huawei p10 lite dual is a branded? Usualy these models is the very slow for porting major release.

I want to get new updates for my phone to be honest.

Hi sham_1
I sent you a guide wrote quickly in DM (for anyone who might need it, I left it here).
One quick question, now you have an even build number, right? That means that you are on a Dual-SIM firmware.
I suggest you to follow these steps and maybe wait some weeks because I did something similar too while Oreo was hitting Huawei's servers, but I received it only a month later, when the IMEI finally matched my firmware (the IMEI has to be approved in order to receive updates, suggest to "check firmware availability" on Firmware Finder).
"Hey,
I'm not so experienced in Huawei modding, but I managed to debrand my device from C55 to C432, so maybe it's worth a shot.
•
Anyways, try this:
- Download Firmware Finder from Play Store
- open it and click on WAS-LX1C432
- search for builds like B210 (must be an even number and not an Oreo B361, otherwise you can brick your device) choose a FullOTA
- click on update via proxy/DNS, follow the steps on screen
•
The important thing here is to know if the phone grants you into updating with that build, then failing in erecovery (detecting an error, no brick) so that you can reboot with not updated firmware and do a standard System Update from the settings, that update will contain the same build that you've got installed, but it will be used to basically overwrite everything without losing any data, even thought I suggest you to do a backup.
•
Before doing any of the steps I gave you, could you please describe me what you did, what method did you follow?
•
In this post, I am giving steps that worked for me when I had a corrupted firmware, but your problem may be different from this.
Check also the HWOTA method (to solve the same problem but with the warranty void, I suggest to use it only if the above method doesn't work), search "HWOTA P10 lite" on Google for more info.

Hope this helps

AT&T in Australia

Hi all,
Was recently in the 'States and broke my S8 - it's now the third mobile screen I've busted since Samsung brought in curved edges, never had any issues with the S2 or S5 - who ever thought tempering glass and curving it would be a good idea??
Anyway I had the opportunity to pickup a brand new Samsung Galaxy S8 Active and did a quick bit of research. I found the most compatible version with my carriers back home in AUS was the SM-G892A from AT&T. Picked up a brand new unlocked model, stupid me didn't connect it up to AT&T while I was there. I turned it on and played around with it on Wifi for the last few days of our trip and returned home to Melbourne.
Basically I now understand AT&T are a bunch of ***** and do not allow updates to be pushed even for unlocked devices overseas. Considering a lot of the updates are for security I'm very surprised by this.
Anyway so I've notcied a few tiny bugs here and there with apps/OS and figured updating my device/OS is the way to go and might resolve the issues. I guess the easiest way to get the info I need is to put the questions I have individually, as my mind tends to jump all over the place when I'm working a problem:
1. Is there any way to get my phone updated without rooting/flashing the phone?
2. If not, what is the best option for a S8 Active? Are there any firmware versions that will enable OTA updates so I don't need to keep flashing everytime new firmware is released? I have seen some posts about T-Mobile being able to be flashed over an AT&T model or even the G892U or maybe a custom firmware that allows this?
3. Will rooting/flashing interfere with any of the carrier settings etc? Don't want to upgrade it only to find it disables an LTE band or something?
4. I am an absolute noob at flashing, have never done it but am pretty tech savvy so if there is a step-by-step procedure I wil have no dramas following it. Saying that, I would rather not make the device worse than it is so I only want to follow tried & tested procedures if that makes sense, I don't want my device to be a lab-rat.
5. If there is no way to enable OTA internationally as per Question #2 when new firmware updates become available on XDA will flashing a new update delete personalisation/settings/files etc? Or will it retain them and update like a stock model performing a firmware upgrade would? If not, that would be a pain in the ass and time consuming to have to re-apply settings and reinstall apps every time and almost makes the idea of flashing unattractive.
6. I have baseband G892AUCU1AQG4 - taking into account Question #2 what is the best way to move forward? Considering Android 8.0 is available for the S8 Active and has been available for my model from AT&T since March 1st, 2018 apparently I'm hoping there might be some way to move towards that.
Hope someone might be able to help,
Thanks in advance
UPDATE 05/05/2019
Got some answers to my original questions...
1. Rooting/Flashing are different things - rooting allows custom firmware, flashing is the procedure to install custom or OEM firmware onto the device.
2. The best option for me I think is to just update to newer AT&T firmware so I get the updates and new software features as I'm not interested in custom firmware. I still do not know if it is possible to get OTA updates for this device directly from Samsung/Google.
3. As long as you are flashing from the same model firmware as in SM-G892A to SM-G892A should be no issues, however using SM-G892U might cause issues.
4. Once I wrapped my head around how baseband versions of firmware work and what is needed to get between bootloader versions flashing from SD Card or Odin (as I suspected) was very straightforward thanks to some of the guides out there. To make this easier for anyone facing the same issue I have written how I did this below.
5. Yes, flashing for AT&T will delete everything, it's an absolute PIA and that's why I will keep searching for a way to get OTA updates enabled if at all possible. However I believe Samsung SmartSwitch is pretty good for backing up and restoring so that might be a simple way forward.
6. See my latest post, I was 12 updates behind but able to skip 7 of them using my method.
I'm considering importing an S8 Active AT&T and have the same questions. How did you go?

Sorry for the slow reply I've only just had the time to dive into this. Yes I have figured it out.
There are two ways, incrementally update by applying OTA updates via the SD card. However trying to find all of these can be a pain.
The other way you may have read about is to use Samsung's own 'Odin' flashing software.
Because I had the very first baseband version G892AUCU1AQG4 I was way behind. The fifth-last digit designates the bootloader version, you cannot jump from v1 to v3 for example. So what you can do is use a few OTA updates to jump you from v1 to the first v2, you can then use Odin to jump you all the way up and use another OTA to get you to the next bootloader version. Hope that makes sense?
So I was able to use x2 OTA updates to get from 1AQG4 to 1AQJ2, then I was able to do one more OTA to get from 1AQJ2-to-2AQK3. Now if I was to continue using the OTA method with the SD card, I would need to run the process x8 times. This presents 3 issues:
1. Time consuming, trying to find all the correct OTA updates.
2. Even when you do get all the correct OTA updates you then have to copy each on to the SD card waiting for the phone to update and then repeat the process.
3. Even if you can find a link for a required OTA update a lot of the links are dead.
However using Odin and the flash files I was able to skip these and go directly from 2AQK3 to 2BRF2, use one OTA update and then I was onto Bootloader v3 (which is the latest version). Here is how I compressed 12 updates do into 5, good luck..

4. 2BRF2-to-3BRG1 OTA (SD CARD): androidfilehost.com/?fid=1322778262904016441

Have the s8 active outside of America and desperately want to update it
Hey ,
I'm sorry to bring up this old thread but I didn't really understand the method you used sorry I'm really new to this thing, I have the s8 active Sm-g892A ( the att) model it's on the baseband version G892AUCS2ARB1 . If you could help me out a bit with this I would be really grateful, having Android 7.0 really makes me concerned as I've heard the security patches also won't update.

So you are on Bootloader v2 (5th character from the right). So you can skip straight to Step 3. Be warned all instructions below will result in all data on your device being wiped!
Using Odin to upgrade as directed on Step 3 & 5 or future upgrades (there is now v4 software appearing):
You need to download Odin (you don't need a modified/Comsy version).
You need to enable Developer Options on your Galaxy.
Once you have developer options you need to enable 'USB Debugging'.
You need to shutdown your Galaxy.
Connect your USB cabble to your PC.
Boot into Download mode by using the Power+Bixby+Volume Down combo. OR if that doesn't work Use the Power+Bixby+Volume Up and use the menu to get into Download Mode.
Open Odin on your PC, it should say 'Added' if it detects your Galaxy correctly. If it doesn't you may need to install some USB drivers (you can Google how to do this).
Once it says 'Added' you can add the files from Step 3 and flash but be warned it will wipe everything on your device.
For Step 4 OTA:
Very simply download the ZIP file and place the complete ZIP file on an SD Card (it should not be extracted must be complete ZIP archive). Place the SD Card in the Galaxy, power off and boot into Recovery Mode Power+Bixby+Volume Up. Then simply use the Volume Up/Down and Power keys to navigate through, 'Apply Update from SD Card', find your SD card and the ZIP file and allow the update to run.

A few questions

I apologize if some questions have been answered, please post the link.
Thanks!
1. Which is the best way to backup Non-rooted devices? LG Backup doesn't restore all data apps.
2. And best way to disable apps (aka Debloater- didn't worked).
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/debloater-remove-carrier-bloat-t2998294
3. I have problems with Wi-Fi and Tethering. Wi-Fi appears "Connection not allowed" and can not connect, or if it connects does not make traffic. And using Tethering I can't connect from other devices. May be software or hardware related nature?
4. Anti rollback should be 0 (Zero) for downgrading? If so, what is the latest version where anti rollback is zero for both Android 7 and 8 for LG V20 990DS SEA?
5. As far as updating from Android 7 to 8 Non-root OTA can I root later by downgrading to 7 and use this method?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/development/dirtysanta-h990-t3624296/
6. I have used LGUP and selected all partitions from DUMP. Is it enough if something goes wrong, do I have everything I need? It must have specific extension?
7. If I install TWRP is it possible to go back to stock recovery (how)?
Seriously, no recommendation?
