When the Whitestone Dome goes, it goes! - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Accessories

Amazing how just in a few hours and not even dropping the phone, all of a sudden a small spiderweb crack appears and spreads like crazy. Beyond frustrating.

Screen protectors are stupid and a waste of money. Last phone I had that scratched was a Nexus 4.

I don't use a screen saver. I have insurance on my phone. If I scratch it I just give it a good punch and call and my insurance sends me a new one for $150.00 by the time you pay for 3 screen savers I'll just get a new phone .

Whitestone provide lifetime warranty. Have now had 4 screen protectors from them in the past 2 months free of charge so no need to even spend $150.

I'm not sure which Whitestone dome company you're referring to but they do not replace screen protectors free of charge at least not anymore because I just did it and I had to pay $15

Strange as its only been costing me $12 which they class as a shipping charge. Still better than replacing the screen.

I paid around $15 to replace the last one I broke (and had to mail my old one in.) My current one is cracked along the side off the screen. When it gets worse I'm putting the Aliexpress one on (which cost me less then $20 for two protectors), if it sucks I'll do another warranty replacement.

got a temporary fix...just popped the back cover off and removed all the shattered glass and replaced with a piece of clear tape for now
OooooO sorry to hear that. I bought a cheap o case and s/p before i even received the phone. Im taking no chances. My otterbox was on back order. Still haven't received it. I'm glad i bought the case cause it took a nasty spill 30 minutes after installing the case and sp. Bottom line protect your investment.

Same here, I spent $10 on ebay to get a temp case until case makers get get the damn cases out. I plan on either getting the Kraken or the Defender. *I prefer the kraken but I don't know if it will have a built in screen protector*

Not to worry OP
The rear camera on this should be extremely easy to replace. You'll just have to wait a few more weeks until that part begins to make it's way out to us. You should be able to make the phone look just like new and it shouldn't cost more than $40 including tools.

To get your warenty on Staples you must have your receipt but you also have the Google 1-Year warenty wich doesn't require a receip just call them number is on google.com/nexus

You'd need the receipt in order to return the unit to asters for a refund within their standard 14-day return period. You don't need a receipt to get warranty coverage from ASUS/Google.

I more prefer a local store than asking Google/Asus for repair as the would take more Time...
So just tell me one thing would the local staple be able to repair it I'm even ready to give additional charges...... I just have few dent marks on the steel frame around the nexus I just want to get it changed so is it possible to do that if I take it to the staples
Of course not. They are a supplies store, they don't have computer repair shops

I don't think so yet. I think until the tablet is out longer, and there are spare parts, I just don't see how they could repair it since it's plastic. Have you considered finding a nice case that covers the bezel?

The only other suggestion I have, though it's a long shot, is finding a local store that repairs iphones or computers, and show them and ask what they can do. I doubt they can repair it though, but that is where you would go to get the glass on your iphone replaced, for example...

The bezel will be hard to repair since its glued and hard to remove. You would have to seperate the bonded glass and LCD. At least that what it looked it to me when I disassembled mine first tablet trying to fix the screen lift. Its very easy to break the glass even for a pro so even if you get a pro or Asus to do the work it will be expensive since if the replace the entire front panel. Just get a hard shell to put on it and you wont even see the bezel. Sounds like you just have cosmetic damage anyways

I've used a product like that on my headlights before, it's basically a polish compound for plastic. I think it will ruin the finish of the bezel and won't do anything for your dents. Only way to make the bezel like new is to replace it or you can just ignore it since it's only cosmetic.

Just for info, in the UK they scan the barcode when they sell you a product, receipt or no receipt they have a record of your purchase and can confirm this without a receipt, if it wasn't scanned then that might be a problem.

Broke Screen Glass - screen won't work at all

My Nexus 4 met it's demise at Subway next to my work. I found a display/digitizer replacement for less than $90 including shipping and sales tax. Look around, you'll find cheaper places just make sure you buy from a reputable merchant.
Make sure the quality is good as well.

how to get screen replaced when cracked from dropping phone?

Ugh, it JUST happened.
To be specific, my screen is now completely unusable. The cracks are likely within the digitizer so nothing shows up properly.
I have no Sprint warranty on this phone, it's only a couple months old and sadly I bought it off of Craigslist to save a little money on the full price.
What should I do?
I went on ebay and got everything replaced with the exception of the motherboard for $155.
It's really easy to do yourself. YouTube, a screwdriver, and 7 screws.

That's the expensive route. If he didn't break his digitizer (screen is still responsive) then he can just replace the glass that should be about $50 and take about 15 mins to do.

Yeah. Check that video out on YouTube. It is not that easy. It should take 15 mins if you have done it before. You also run the risk if breaking the lcd in your attempt making the $50 purchase useless.
You have to use a heat gun to soften the very tough glue that holds the glass to the digitalizer and slowly and carefully pry them apart. Don't get glass on the lcd (scratches) and don't get fingerprints, lint, or hair on there either (pain to completely remove).
I'm actually really good at hardware repairs (prior Apple repair tech) and even that fix makes me uneasy, but it's your call.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda app-developers app
So basically, I have no good options to get the digitizer repaired at a low cost other than to do it myself? What a waste of money this has been and now with repairs I'm bringing the cost back up to full retail price. This has been a bad day.
I actually bought my phone off of Amazon; and when I activated the phone through Sprint, I was able to put the mobile insurance on it. Maybe you can call Customer Care, and put the insurance on your device. Then take it into a corporate store, and they should exchange it.
@redchevy90 what do you mean by mobile insurance?
insurance
I mean the premium insurance that sprint has. Its like $7 or $9 a month, and it covers your device.
I just called in and they said I activated this phone ONE DAY over a month ago so they won't do it for me by phone. They said I could take my chances at the corporate store. If this works, I *could* actually get a free replacement. But the corporate store would have been nice enough to give it to me...
You dropped your phone, you broke it, they won't replace it. That is an Assurian claim if you had insurance, which by the way is $11 a month not $7. Plus you will have to pay a $150 deductible. Sounds like the cheapest route will be fixing it yourself and next time being more careful. What was suggested earlier is pure fraud and the reason why the insurance deductible keeps going up. Own up to your failings and fix it yourself instead of increasing the fees and deductibles for the rest if us.
Sent from my icrap 2 using Tapatalk HD
Yeah, forget the fraud option. Didn't fully understand what was going on with that anyway. I found someone semi-local who has an extra digitizer that I'll just pay for and repair myself. Life's a ***** but you suck it up and move on.
The phone is still new, but radio shack now fixes screens for around $70 I believe. That's lower than a deductible.

Where did you get everything but the motherboard for 155? Who was the seller?
just bought a used sph-l720 (sprint gs4 with good esn) on the cheap
the lcd dont display anything and the digitizer is cracked of course
when i do power the phone on i do hear the sounds and the bottom capacitance buttons light up
anyhow i been following taredown guides off youtube and to my understanding (as i sit hear with my phone mostly disassembled) is that the digitizer and lcd are actually one piece unlike the s3 and s2 and almost every other phone i have had in the past?
it looks like to me the lcd and digitzer use the same "one" connector that plugs in
the digitizer and lcd used to each have their own cable connectors
so what is this actually called? its not just a digitizer and its not just an lcd is it just now called the "screen" since they are both combined into one unit only?
no info from anyone on this?

Broken screen/glass? This is what it'll cost you (in Belgium)

(These are prices for Belgium)
For those of you who wonder what the cost could be to repair a broken screen on the Galaxy S8+ (or if you're not sure yet if you need a case to protect it)....
I dropped mine from +/- 1m and the front glass cracked on 3 corners. The display itself was still ok but after sending it back to Samsung I got a quotation for 378,00 EUR....
For that, they'll replace the display, the side plastics and apparently also the battery (not sure why....).
Oh, and they'll install the latest software too
So my next purchase will be a good case to protect it from falling out of my pocket again...

On a side note, with T-Mobile Netherlands you pay €12 per month for screen insurance on a 2 year contract. That's €240 in total. Not as much as for a new screen, but I didn't take it. I'm willing to pay one time for a broken screen, after that it's going in the bin when broken again.
