Debloat P9 Lite - Huawei P9 Lite Questions & Answers

Hello,
I want to debloat my P9 Lite from apps like Youtube etc. I used the approach from a video called "Remove ALL Bloatware from any Android Smartphone without Root" (cannot post link)
Bringing my phone into debug mode and installing adb all went fine. However, when I start Debloater (version 4.0) -- it shows me the correct serial number and battery status, though -- the model gets called "generic_a15" in Debloater. Furthermore, no package is listed when I click "Read Device Packages".
Does somebody know how I can resolve this issue? Thank you very much for your attention!

Hi,
i never used that method, so
just my thought...
Maybe you have to try to reboot your device in fastboot mode,
then try to launch the debloater and see if it shows you packages.
Regards

Downloaded and installed, also not working.
Any other method to remove unwanted apps?

Installing a custom ROM usually brings a series of benefits including that
of not having bloatweres so it is my main recommendation.
On the other hand, manually, with superuser permissions and a root app manager,
you can uninstall all the applications you want, but you must pay attention to what you touch,
the system could become unstable (google apps). Do some research before venturing.
Making a Nandroid backup before starting is almost mandatory, always recommended.
Good luck

Installing custom roms is nice But simple huawei backup and restore for stuffs is so much easier than some third party app to do.
I would so easy install some of the many custom roms But eui is so easy and works.....

Excuse me I probably did not grasp the juice of the speech.
I have already answered for what I know, custom roms or manual uninstallations of what you do not want.
Another way would be to freeze / disable unwanted apps ... the device will be grateful ..
Dear use @ to quote.
Best regards

[SM-P905][SM-P907A] Debloating bloatware after rooting + Power On sound removal

** DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT A DEVELOPER. I DO THIS AS A HOBBY AND SHARE MY FINDINGS IN CASE SOMEONE ELSE FINDS THEM USEFUL. **
** THIS WORKED ON MY DEVICE BUT IT MAY NOT WORK ON YOURS. APPLY AT YOUR OWN RISK **** These scripts are written for Kitkat. Do not use on Lollipop. ** What is new (9/7/2014)
Version 4 provides more Samsung bloat removal, Google bloat removal, and as a bonus it can disable the power on sound.
Background
Samsung has a program running on most of its devices that pushes "Security Updates" onto the device. If you make the mistake of accepting this security update, even after you root your tablet, it will patch the hole and you will never be able to use towelroot or any other know exploit as of June 2014 to root your it again. So this must be immediately disabled after a successful rooting.
Your tablet is also equipped with Knox. One component of Knox is in the bootloader and checks the integrity of the recovery and kernel. If it sees anything has changed at that level it trips the knox flag immediately, which is irreversible. That component can almost never be touched. The second component runs when the OS is up and running and its main task is to monitor the activities of the apps in your system and shut them down if they act "suspiciously". When you are rooted and install SuperSU, this element of Knox keeps detecting the background root activities and shuts them down and gives you warnings. There is therefore a high level of risk there if you let root and knox exist concurrently. So after rooting, this second component of Knox should normally be disabled.
Finally, there are useless junk apps that most of us agree Samsung should have never shipped with the tablet, or even if they are useful we want them gone to get a better battery life.
I will call all of the above (updaters, Knox, and useles junk) bloatware. The scripts attached here can disable or enable the bloatware on your tablet, which comes in handy if you do not have Titanium Backup Pro to freeze or remove bloatware. And since someone will ask at some point, no, it won't trip your Knox!
Please read below and understand what this script disables before you use it. There may be an app on the list that you may actually want to keep.
Requirements:
Rooted Samsung Note Pro 12.2, SM-P905 international model.
Android Terminal Emulator: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jackpal.androidterm&hl=en
The international version (P905) is tested with baseband P905XXUANA7, build P905XXUANC3 .
The ATT version (P907A) is tested with build KOT49H.P907AUCU1AND7 (thanks to @gerard0986 for testing the script)
Makes sure you download the version that is suitable for your tablet. It may work to varying extents for other models and firmwares. You try and tell me
If you are using models other than P905 or P907A, I can make a new script for you if you provide me with a "ls -R -l" dump of your /system, or even better, if you post your firmware somewhere online.
Download link:
Attached below
Instructions:
Generally speaking, you should always have a Nandroid backup before trying anything new. Also have a flashable ROM handy. I am not responsible if you brick your device while using these scripts.
To debloat:
1- Unzip the attachment and copy debloat.sh to your phone at /sdcard
2- Run the terminal emulator and type the following:
su
cd /sdcard
sh debloat.sh3- Choose what you want to disable, or exit.
4- If you choose not to exit, the code does its thing and reboots your tablet. The bloat is gone now
To restore the bloatware:
1- Unzip the attachment and copy enbloat.sh to your phone at /sdcard
2- Run the terminal emulator and type the following:
su
cd /sdcard
sh enbloat.sh3- The code will warn you:
Are you sure you want to restore the security/firmware/software updaters, and Knox?
They may immediately patch your system and make the existing root methods impossible to apply.
Then you can choose what to enable, or just exit.
4- If you choose not to exit, the code does its thing and reboots your tablet. The bloat is back now
Note that while running the debloat script you may get force-closing popups. This is normal; after all you are disabling these applications!
Limitations:
If you have previously removed bloat using other means this script CANNOT recover it for you. enbloat.sh can only restore what debloat.sh has disabled.
If you have debloated using an older version of this code and you want to try a newer version of it, first use enbloat from the older version to return everything to the original configuration and then use the newer version.
When you are restoring the bloat, it is best to enable "airplane mode" so that your tablet does not try to patch your system with a security update without your knowledge. You can disable the airplane mode after you debloat again.

thank you
Thank you najoor for the neat script, it executed successfully on my sm-p905 (UANE1 rom) & removed the useless software, it saves a lot of time removing them manually.
Nice work
Hope to see a version for the SM-P907 soon.

I think the only existing models are SM-P900, SM-P905, SM-P907A and SM-P905V. I don't know what T-900 is.
If you are referring to model P900 (wifi only) this code may partially work but a lot of files are different between the two models so the outcome is a partial debloat. If you want, you can make a system dump file as I suggested in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=55029414&postcount=5 and send it to me so I can make a custom code for you.
Edit: It appears that T900 is the Tab pro model which is a different device. This thread is for Note pro 12.2 and since I do not own a Tab Pro I cannot answer this question. Perhaps help can be found in the XDA's Tab Pro forum at http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-pro-12-10-8. or try these scripts as they are and see if it works for you.
Hey najoor, Im hoping that you can help me debloat my galaxy tab pro 12.2 sm-t900. I just bought it today and am shocked at the amount of bloatware thats included lol.
Basically I want everything removing that I can install through googleplay, leave the default browser.
Here is the log that you mentioned to the other guy also:-
View attachment sysdump.txt
Ill try to pm it also, really hope you can help out.

Debloat method
I used this method but i accidentally uninstalled all google services, and google play store was apart of that, is that normal? And if it is are there ways to get it back?

Yes, that is part of bloat removal. To get Google bloat back run the enbloat.sh script and hit y when it prompts you about restoring Google bloat.

If i do the enbloat method will i have to reinstall knox ? Or will i still be able to keep it off?
When you use the enbloat.sh you only restore the stuff you choose. You don't have to restore everything. In your case you leave knox and other things out and only answer yes when it asks you if you want Google bloat to be restored.
The script is very user friendly. Just run it and follow the instruction. And just to give you peace of mind, these scripts do not delete anything from your system permanently so don't worry about breaking your system.
Any chance you could add the option to remove individual items?

Removing apps is what a debloating script does. If you want your app back just run the enbloat script. All the instruction you need is provided in the original post.

Appreciated. I wanted to debloat but did not expect the scrapbook app to be debloated. Is there any way that I can retrieve this one app, without the rest of the garbage that will return if I "enbloat".
I recall finding the app the last time and renaming from .bak to .apk and it worked.
Can you tell me where to find the apk.

The app is either in /system/app or /system/priv-app. Rename app.apk.bac and app.odex.bac if it exists to app.apk and app.odex and reboot. I don't remember exactly which app is the one you need.

Reverting from Calendar 5.0 to 201404014

This is cobbled together from various sources online. Thanks to the respective authors.
Please read the ENTIRE guide before starting. Also please familiarize yourself with the 'adb' tool and make sure you have the proper USB drivers for your phone installed (Something like this might work). I will not be held responsible if you brick your phone or anything like that. In fact, I won't be held responsible for ANYTHING, Haha!
Go into the play store. Browse your way to your currently installed calendar. DISABLE AUTO-UPDATE.
Otherwise all your hard work will be for nothing when Google overwrites what you've already done.
Go in to Settings -> Security -> Unknown sources.
You must allow installation of software from unknown sources, otherwise the installation won't be accepted. You can disable this again once you are done, if you wish.
Download the old Calendar APK to your computer (http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/calendar/calendar-201404014-apk/)
Get root (http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/orig-development/n4-cf-auto-root-t2025274)
If you don't already have root/oem unlock YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR DATA.
Install Titanium Backup (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup)
This requires root, which is what we needed to do in the previous step.
Use Titanium Backup to uninstall Calendar 5.0
If you want to protect yourself, use Titanium Backup to make a backup of Calendar 5.0 in case things get ****ed up
If anybody knows of a different way of installing a system app, please let me know. It would be nice if this was possible "rootless"
Reboot
Install the old calendar apk using adb
Open cmd.exe (or equivalent).
Find where you either have your existing adb tools
Issue the command "
Code:
adb install com.google.android.calendar-201404014-201404014-minAPI15.apk
"
In my case, this looked like it hung. After about a minute, I did Ctrl+c to get out of it.
Thinking it had failed, I tried again, only to be told that the application was already installed (Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_ALREADY_EXISTS]).
Moments later, I was greeted with a calendar notification in the old calendar style. When I clicked it, I was taken to the old calendar.
Thus, it works.
Keep in mind that this is a bit of a hack. I'm writing these steps down as I remember them, rather than as a fully researched guide.
If you're not using lollipop, there's a chance you can simply "uninstall upgrades" to the calendar in the app store, instead of rooting+titanium+uninstall.
Great! I just did it with success following your steps exactly. Thank you!
I'm wondering though if I could have just used Nexus Root Toolkit (used to root) to backup and uninstall Calendar 5 rather than Titanium? I did use it (NRT) to install the apk with no issues, it indicated success and I assumed a reboot was needed. So good to have it back, thanks again!
nexus 4, 5.0.1, rooted stock rom
p.s. I was able to uninstall Calendar 5 updates via settings on my lollipop but it only left me with a Disable button (no uninstall). I think Titanium, or the likes, is needed to uninstall system apps.

I think you can use any method you can think of to uninstall the existing calendar. That's really the tricky part. Side-loading the new one is relatively simple.

Your article was the only one i found that detailed "how to", so deviating from it was out. A revisit to NRT didn't give me the affirmation I needed to validate my thought of using tools other than what you specified. I'm green but am progressing.
Perhaps it would be privy of you to include a pointer or two to highlight that it needn't be Titanium but rather any tool with similar abilities. Maybe even mention a couple popular ones you know of.
Thanks and Happy New Year.

I don't actually know of any other approaches, personally. I did mention that it might be easier in my second post. I can imagine that you could simply "uninstall updates" provided you started with an android version before lollipop. I'm not 100% sure that would work, however, as then "adb install" might complain that the application was still installed.

As the word "Useful" varies user to user. Here are some apps those I always keep on my rooted phone.
Titanium backup:-Helps to backup games+apps even with data. The most needy app as I am Flashaholic.Lol
Es file explorer:-My favorite file manager. You don't need root for normal using. But for advance use(like editing system file, set permission to system files etc) root is needed.
Ad blocker:-Help you to get rid of annoying add on web pages.
Tasker:-Apps for little bit of more advance user.Helps you to automate your device.Such as ,I want to silent my phone when I am school,it automatically does that.
Xposed:-There are several module in Xposed by which U can taste the flavours of such things those are not present on your ROM.There are a long list of modules.Just check it.
Greenify+Amplify+power nap+App oops Xposed:-Battery back up is Bad.Just give it a try.For instruction check here.
Viper4android+Dolby Atmos(optional):-A must apps for music lovers. It comes with its own driver.U can Controll many parameters of music sound.
Kernel adiutor:-Helps you to take control of various Kernel parameters.Just use it with little bit of concern.
Battery calibrator:-Useful apps If battery monitor is showing wrong information.Use it when U flash different Roms like me.
Link2sd:-Helps you to move app over to Sdcard.Smae as Apps2sd but works in different way(by creating link). Don't know if it will work in marshmallow or nougat. As there is now adaptable storage now.
Flashify or Rashr:-Don't have PC all time.Helps you to flash zip or image file without rebooting to recover, including zip file, kernels, boot image, recovery image etc.
Servicely:-Sometime some apps keep running at background and consume battery. This apps helps you to prevent those apps from running in background.
Root call blocker:-If your ROM don't come with call blocker option .This is a useful app.
There are also many apps like Lucky patcher,Wakelock blocker,Rom toolbox,Dumpster,GL tools,Gravity box,Sdfix etc,U can use.
Just make sure what U R doing before using most of those apps.As mishandling some apps may cause brick your phone.

If the stock kernel(coming with ur ROM) supports DT2W then there should be an option in kernel adiutor. If not then then there will be no option. If u want DT2W then u have to use another kernel which supports that.Look into your devices forum.

Which version of Android are you on?
The best way of flashing t.w.r.p is by fastboot.
1)Setup ADB and Fastboot on your PC.
2)Open a command window inside the folder where your TWRP recovery .img file is saved. To do that, “Shift + Right click” on any empty white space inside the folder and then select “Open command window here” from the context menu.
3)Connect your device to the PC, make sure USB debugging is enabled from Developer options.
4)Boot your Lenovo A6000 into Bootloader mode using the command below:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
5)Once your phone boots into bootloader mode, issue the following command to flash TWRP recovery image:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
6)Reboot your phone using the following command:

How to install TWRP in Lenovo a6000 mobile.. please give me links adb and fastboot file download links..and give me installation process

Q: Bloatware on boost mobile E4. I need help removing them.

I have tried uninstalling them through multiple apps in the playstore and it always says failed. I am rooted and I want to use the stock rom for now until the data issues are patched. I have disabled the apps I just don't want the on my phone. The facebook apps you can't disable the update. I don't trust facebook and I don't want anything to do with it on my phone so if anyone know's how to remove them please let me know. Thank you.

BEFORE READING, MAKE A BACKUP PRIOR TO THIS ANSWER:
I'm sorry to say, but it would need to be done using the file manager via TWRP. It is a lil tricky because it lacks concise deletion. So it is best to use a rooted file explorer (es file explorer is beneficial for this) and look around these locations:
/system/app
/system/priv-app
/oem/app
/oem/priv-app
Each folder holding the apk must be deleted individually in TWRP's file manager, or you WILL face a possible soft-brick.
Good luck.
(The reason why is, because the oem section is more secure to avoid a break of the phone itself, so it will freeze everytime while the actual OS is in use. Doing it via TWRP ensures deletion and avoiding a freeze bc the recovery OS is different from stock OS)

I try to delete bloat system apps but they keep coming back

I installed this rom:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/rom-slm-version-t3704143
(I wanted an android 7 stock rom - not MIFavor - but incredibly I couldn't find it)
after that, I tried to remove with Titanium Backup many system apps that I didn't want, like Mi Assistant, Es file explorer, Z-backup, an app with russian characters which I have no idea what it does, an app with chinese characters which I have no idea what it does, etc.), but the problem is that they keep coming back even after removing them with Titanium Backup :| this has never happened to me before, and I have no idea how to solve this.
Try this zip. Backup before flash.

thanks for the suggestion, but it didn't work: first I tried with this method, then I installed the zip you provided, but again it didn't work.
As before, if I uninstall system apps via Titanium Backup, and then reboot the device, the apps are still there.

In TWRP's terminal do
Code:
reboot disemmcwp
If that doesn't work do it from your computer with
Code:
adb reboot disemmcwp
I tried exactly as you said, but again it didn't work. I unistalled apps with titanium backup, they disappear, then I reboot and the apps are again there :'(
Apart from that the phone works perfectly (the root remains, xposed works, etc.) so I have no idea why this is happening
Oh I have a a2017g and I dont' have Magisk, if that changes anything.
just a quick update, I have already installed busybox 1.21.1, and if i try to update it to 1.27.2 with busybox app from play store, nothing happens/changes.
edit2: I even try to install the "dm-verity and forced encryption disabler zip" listed here, but again it didn't work.

Try Magisk. AFAIK with Magisk you can make changes to system without actually modifying system, so it might work.

Could you explain this? You were looking for LineageOS maybe?
To be able to delete apps you should get a computer with ADB, connect your phone, then from the computer issue "adb reboot disemmcwp". Doing this from TWRP or a terminal emulator doesn't work

Don't use Titanium to remove the apps.if you have run the above command to disable write protection, download mxplorer or any root explorer and go into the folder and delete them. For some reason Titanium doesn't delete them properly
I was having the same problem with with all the b13 roms. The b13 bootstack it the problem for me. What phone model are you using? If you are on the U model trying installing the b32 bootstack by drakenfx. That's how I solved that problem. I am not sure on the g model though.
thanks again for your help! in the end since I couldn't figure it out, I decided to factory reset everything and start from scratch with Magisk and LineageOS. With them I succesfully managed to delete system apps with titanium backup. now i have only a small issue with adblocker, but i will create a new topic as the problem is different from the one i talked about here.

yeah I wasn't really clear. I was looking for an android vanilla experience, and then add gravity box to personalize it. however i am quite happy with lineageos, so i just may stick with it. only issue is that i couldn't find dark theme for drawer/settings, but i will look into it.

i think you're using the stock system, a.k.a. MiFavor. LineageOS is the vanilla android experience you wanted, that's why I mentioned it.
I'm attaching a few screenshots
