LG V35 Root? - LG V35 Questions & Answers

Is there any hope on the horizon of root , for the att v35? or atleast the ability to flash a debloated ROM?
Any ongoing projects in the works that I can keep up with or donate to?

Well, this is not the V35 forum. It's the V30 forum.
The LG V35 (Snapdragon 845/JudyP) is basically a G7 (Snapdragon 845/JudyN) which sort of looks like a V30 (Snapdragon 835/Joan). But really V35 (JudyP) has nothing to do with the V30/V30+/V30S (Joan) series.
To debloat the AT&T V35, you can cross flash the open market V35 KDZ (which is debloated) with the AT&T V35 -- like we do with the AT&T V30 (H931) and US998 V30. Theoretically this would also carrier unlock it.. I suggested that here in this thread, and was eventually told YES it would debloat it, but not carrier unlock it. He says he uses an Octopus box. However, due to the guy's first response, I still don't quite believe he knows what he's talking about. He only came up with that information after I called him out on his first answer.
Go read the thread...

We can all hope but nothing yet. Your best bet would be to keep up with LG g7 devrlopement as if they have a breakthrough it'll most likely work with our v35 or the v40.

android nougat is out for sprint lg g5

today there are reports that the android nougat update for the sprint variant of the g5 is out.
https://plus.google.com/communities/109302847348648973506
just look in the community and you will see...
does anybody know anything about the EU update?
I can't believe a US carrier branded variant gets Nougat before the international unlocked H850. What happened to this world...
Me to. But so is... Sprint first with nougat... Incredible... Is confirmed.
Enviado desde mi LG-H850 mediante Tapatalk
According of the news on Internet, yes it confirmed. Looks like spring is imba
LG gives a fu*k about int versions of their phones from LG G4. They'll get it about half of year after sprint version.
Never will buy a LG phone again, I read an article somewhere before that maybe int G5 nougat just coming in February 2017.
Yep, just got Nougat on my Sprint G5 this morning!

Totally that's why LG is mostly the one with the quickest updates for their flagships at least. And I'm pretty sure it will be at latest in December but head on of you are so pissed

Then don't. No one forces you to buy LG phones. You are surely easy to be deceived by some man made no proof not official article from a common website.
I used to have worse experience with Motorola when it came to firmware updates
Honestly wasn't even receiving bug fix updates, at least in LG i do.
Nugget already was released in asia and now it's rolling to the sprint devices, I don't understand why everybody dont pay attention to the comments that were made by the people who actually recieved it..
I recieved the update as well

Is it android 7.0 or 7.1?
Its 7.0.
Runs great! The autobrightness issue seems to have been fixed. The display brightens up smoothly now, and does not stay dark. There is a weird bug with the LG keyboard now though. If you click backspace, it does not stop erasing sometimes. I guess it registers too many button presses some how.
Still playing around with it though. Have yet to leave the house to test real world use.
Thought the international would of had it by now!
Any improve or bug in stock camera application?
Thanks.
Hello guys !
I saw few of you have official nougat update for G5. Do you have any news about nougat for everybody ?
Thanks

So far only Korean G5 and Sprint G5 versions got nougat, including beta testers. My guess, by reading the news and taking a look at Lg release cycles for G4 from last year involving marshmallow, would be that the rest of us will be getting nougat somewhere between today and the end of December. And by rest I mean international g5 H850.

I very much doubt any G4 will get official Nougat from LG.
Yeaaaa.. So i think it is the right time to say "Goodbye LG"..
If korean version not get Nougat, we sure that international not getting too.

I think the same. Many low-end/mid devices from LG already got Nougat (LG Stylo 2 for example).

Many people won't buy next phone from LG and sales will be lower because of that. In spite of many problems and terrible software updates G4 was not so bad. They want to sell new phones and have earnings but none of us will buy another LG phone after this. LG G4 had many hardware problems and they did another mistake with update policy.
Wtf LG **** you. I'll wait till April and I will go for something else. I bought this because of further updates and guess what. It won't receive any...

Sad news!
I think I have to ditch the stock camera now ;(
Why I every time find out when I buy any new phone that there is any problem with upgrading, HW issues or whatever else? :/
They should at least unlock the bootloader on 81X models so that we can move on with custom roms.
I really enjoy the phone (815P) but it'll be the last one from LG for me.
I'm not sure if it's the final/legit information or just speculations but if that's true then I feel sorry for people who bought this phone and paid full flagship price for it... At least I bought it in 2016 and paid half price but one more time it proves that we shouldn't ever buy a new Android phone as soon as it gets released because of stupid update policy, never ever!!! Only in this way we can make them hear us and keep buying last years phones so their sales go down and maybe, maybe they will hear us, otherwise it will stay like this forever. I realized it long time ago, 3-4 years that OEMs don't give a **** about customers, all they care is marketing and sales, that's all I can say to you. Lets hope for the best but from what it looks like it's very unlikely as I personally received 2 updates in last year which only had new security patch...
Yes it pretty bad... Can't even supply updates for 2 years from Launch, which is a lot of peoples upgrade period.
I'm due an upgrade in May, but I can see me waiting for the next iteration of the Oneplus and jumping ship to that.
Not sure if legit, but anyway, if they dont stick to 2 major updates, i agree, byebye..
If there will be no update for G4 to Nougat 7.0 then I also have to say bye bye LG
You won't be neither first nor last... But we have custom developers for now so we could have Nougat this way.
Lg should think wisely bootloop then no updates they Will lose msny customers me included
hey, let's be positive.. maybe LG is too busy with their upcoming G6 until they forgot that G4 is actually existed..

I highly doubt about it. If they release G6, they will focus on G6, G5 and V20. There is even lower chance getting Android 7 N for G4 after G6 release.
G3 got Android 6.0 Marshmallow before G5 was released.

RS988 Bootloader unlock from LG!!!

http://developer.lge.com/resource/mobile/RetrieveBootloader.dev
RS988 now officially supported by LG bootloader unlocking tool :victory:
Let the custom roms flow...
guess any owner of a RS988 variant is kind of like late to the party
all devs on the G5 forum are either thinking to move away to a newer device or are already moved
while there may be some ROMS dropping by, I kind of think this is a late decission if you plan to buy a G5

Unfortunately, your comment proved to be prescient. Almost 4 months after, no custom ROMs has been developed for this phone. Just hoping that it'll get added to LineageOS at some point...

You could always port a ROM especially since there are already ones made for this phone. I am finding the stock rooted to my liking on my RS988. Everything works as it should. With no compromises. I had the H830 and tried the custom ROMS but always went back to stock.

LG Freaking Pathetic

I would never have believe a company the size of LG would let their smartphone business become so pathetic. My backup phone is an Essential PH-1 which is now two years old, first released May '17, and as of this AM I'm rocking Q Beta3 on a TWO YEAR old phone while LG hasn't even managed to get a supposed FLAGSHIP device (v35), released May '18, to Android Pie.
Who the F******* is running LG????????????????????????????????? What a joke!!!!!!!!!!!
Just unlock the bootloader and let the XDA community handle your business LG 'cause you obviously can't.
lg sucks butt

LG does make great phones -- great hardware, great features. The V30+ (128GB internal memory) especially was the best phone of 2017... They are just terrible at Android OS updates.
On the V30, they HAVE to give Android security updates at least every 3 months for 3 years. And they have pretty much done that.
And they HAVE to give all V30 variants PIE (also in the same agreement), but there was no date requirements on THAT.
V35 didn't have those promises in writing like the V30 did...

Send it to lg ..i just sent them some advice that was similar to this ..unlock the bootloader

Why so little custom roms here?

Why is there almost no custom roms for the lg35 here compared to the lg v30 which has a lot?
Are they backwards compatible?

No. They are two totally different phone series. V35 is more related to V40 and G8 internally than V30. The G8/V35/V40 are Snapdragon 845 "Judy" phones. V30 is "Joan" Snapdragon 835.
Why no ROMs? Took too long to get root, too hard, and V35 initially was only released for AT&T in U.S. Developers moved on to easier phones, distributed more widely.
I'd add a few more factors that stacked the deck against development for the V35.
It had a more geographically limited release than its siblings, the V40 and G7. Europe was not on the list and those phones are BL unlockable out of the box. Those phones really prime developer activity. The release in the US was by AT&T, Google, and later Amazon so limited there, too.
There are impending 3G shutdowns coming in NA so making phone calls will require VoLTE. Dev's have yet to reverse engineer the LG radio interface so that VoLTE can be supported on AOSP roms. Rooted stock is where I am for this reason and the same probably applies to anyone with LG V and G models soon enough, EoY 2020 for Verizon subscribers.
Lastly, there was the whole A/B slot transition with removal of the recovery partition.
Changes to TWRP had to be made.
Unless there are serious changes are forthcoming, this is my last LG phone. IMO, no A10 is the biggest strike against the V35.

I'm using the Korean Android 10 on my AT&T LG V35. Aside from the loud camera shutter sounds which cannot be disabled (law in Korea), I have found no major annoyance. 4 months now on Android 10.

Wait, is this confirmed? I thought they were at last eventually going to release A10 for the NA firmwares, is this not the case anymore? Edit: btw, I second the sentiment, this is my first LG phone but also my last. Their stock OS is kind of ackward in weird ways... it's not very polished. I came from a cheap lowmid Huawei phone and their OS was still very polished when compared to this LG. Huawei knew where to add "proprietary" utilities and where not to. The upgrade was still worth it because of the performance boost though.

It seems unlikely after so much time that an NA version of A10 will be released by LG. It is kind of moot at this point. Thanks to @cloud1250000 it is possible to flash the Korean A10 rom. Just follow his/her guide to localize to NA, CA or probably other regions. It works great!

I was not thinking on using that Korean A10 rom but since I have to reinstall my rom anyways might just give it a go. Can I go back to pie or oreo after installing the korean rom? I think I read it wasn't possible.
Yes, flashing back to Pie works fine.
