Random shut down 60% battery - Meizu Pro 5 Questions & Answers

My phone is shuting down with high battery level. Sometimes it also stays at 1% or 0% for hours. Also battery live is WAY shorter than it used to be, I usually get like 30 minutes of screen or so. Right now I'm running Flyme 7.0.2.0A frimware with TWRP Recovery.

replace battery
Hi.
I had the same issue.
The battery needs to be replaced but this is a little tricky and needs some technician skills.
If you don't mind to disassemble the device (a little bit) you can do the repair for less than 20€.

Just what i thought! Already bought a new battery but when i was about to mount it I realized my other screwdrivers I have for and old phone won't fit, so I'm waiting amazon package now. Also thought of changing the back aluminium plate (has some scratches and so) but it seems like you need to unmount ALL the parts

Battery swollen

First some backgound.
In preparation for a big event where I will be using my phone for web surfing a lot, I pick up the huge brick2600mah battery. It works well and last all day. I forgot my charger and had to charge the phone over USB and that only seems to charge the battery to 75%. But that is a different issue.
So when I get home, I put back in the stock battery so the phone will no longer be a brick in my picket any more. (The 2600mah battery will be used for events where I need the power)
But the stock battery is not lasting very long at all any more. The capacity seems to be down 50%. I left it in my truck once and came back to find it almost dead. It went from fully charged with the car charger to dead in 2 hours.
A week or so later, in the same spot, I knew I was going to be out of ear shot, so I left my fully charged phone, in airplane mode to save the battery. 4 hours later and it's dead like a door nail.
I have since done the same and the battery is low after 6 hours, but not dead. Something strange is going on. I have ran the phone till dead 3 times and fully charged it and that seemed to help, but it's still not happy. It also takes 8+ hours to charge.
A few hours ago, I managed to hard lock the phone, so I pop out the battery. The battery swollen. Not Sony like, but like something inside is really pressing hard against the case and wants to get out. Note I am talking about the stock HTC battery, not the brick.
My stock battery problems may be unrelated to the use of the 2600 brick battery, but I figure it's worth bringing up.
Anyone else seen this? Can I bug T-Mobile about getting a new battery?
Any suggestions next to bury it in a hole before it explodes and kills us all?
If the stock as really swollen, you'd better contact Tmo and get a replacement. I think it might got over heated when you left it in the truck. Did you put it on the dashboard? Was that a hot sunny day? Any temperature above 60 degrees Celsius can cause permanent damage to lithium-ion batteries. Crystals growing on one of the electrodes (can't remember which) can penetrate the insulation and touch the other side, causing a internal short. This will heat the liquids inside the battery and when the pressure rise beyond control...
You need a new battery, batteries can swell like that either from heat or too high current drained. Might be a defect in the battery from the start as well tho (short-circuit waiting to happen or something, who knows?)

Any lithium battery that experiences swelling should immediately be viewed as a potential hazard. At this point you cannot drop it off in a battery recycling drop-off point (and perish the thought of just tossing it in the trash). I recommend you take it to a T-Mo store and demand an exchange for a new battery. You'll also be relieved of the responsibility to deal with disposing of it properly.
Nice game of connecting the dots. I normally put my phone in the shade when left in my truck for several hours. But I miscalculated the position of the sun and when I checked back in a few hours, it was not in direct sunlight and hot. Not too hot to handle, but toasty. Only happened once, but I guess that sure could be the cause.
The battery is not hot now or bursting out of it's case, and I have been using it for 2 months so I don't think it will be an issue recycling it. Is a T-Mobile store just going to hand over a new battery to me?
Bonus, I now know why the battery in my GPS only lasted 2 months.
Even if it's not in direct sunlight, the temp inside of a car on a sunny day can easily go over 200 degrees F... in many cases going up to 300 degrees.

As said 100% correctly by jashsu, your battery is basically hazardous. Keep it away from anything you want to stay alive (you, your property, your G1...) until you can get it to T-Mobile.
XDA does not condone this, but your best bet to get a new battery is to lie. If you tell them you left it in the sun, they're most likely not going to replace it. Play dumb and tell them nothing odd happened and you have no idea why it did it.
If you bought it from em and are still in contract with them, I'd be pretty shocked if they didn't replace it on the spot (even if you don't have warranty). Until then, do NOT use the battery, and be thankful that it didn't destroy your G1.

water boils at 200 degrees, there is no way a car goes to 300 degrees, it would explode....

Guess I got my numbers mixed up... according to a few websites, they can get up near 200 degrees.

I have been still using the phone. Bloated battery and on. It has not tried to kill me as of yet.
Today I went down to the t-mobile store and told the guy at the counter that my phone was only holding a charge for 5 hours at most. He suggested a battery swap and if that does not fix it, a phone swap. I handed him my puffed out battery, and he handed me a new, slimmer one. He never asked for my phone, my number, or nothing else. Once again I am reminded why I go with the only carrier that does not offer 3G service in my area. T-Mobile service rocks.

[Q] Need advice upon a hardware damage.

Ok, I made a stupid mistake while I was assembling my N4 back, after replacing the screen. I damaged one small part of the motherboard. 3 small things where ripped off ( shown on the first image ). As shown on the second image, I damaged some connection parts of the Avago 3012 Ultra Low-Noise GNSS Front-End Module. The first month after assembling back, I didnt notice any problems. But the first problem was that the battery dies when getting at 20-15% level, if forced too much with a game or any other apps that load the phone too much. After 2 weeks another problems appeared. The wifi signal became very bad. It doesnt reach all the routers around, only the ones close to me with a very good signal.Sometimes it even freezes until reboot. It stucks on same found signals and doesnt show anything else. Times by times, even the gsm band turns off completely as if its on Airplane mode. I've read online that this low-Noise chip somehow reffers to wifi and gps but can it somehow affect the battery? The second problem is that after asembling phone back, the back cover doesnt close fit enough. The left middle side of the battery became too blowed up, and it takes some space to close the cover completely so it remains a little opened. I have no ideea how it changed it's shape so suddenly. So my last question is: is there any chance if I ask a master to solder these three small pins. It will work back? Or the Avago chip is already damaged permanently?
please see attachments.
I'm not a professional at soldering but it should be possible if you find the right person to do it. Does the chip or the motherboard look damaged? As for the battery being blown up. Its most likely just bent because of all the glue holding it. If that's the case you can just flatten it out slowly.

No, nothing is damaged, only these three conductors are ripped off. And I still have them, in a small box. But I wonder if the chip didn't get permanently damaged after some time working without these 3 elements. Cause, if so, even soldering them back will not fix the issue I guess..

Yeah you're probably right. To be honest if I were in your condition, I'd just get a new motherboard off eBay or probably even a new phone. That's just my opinion though. Good luck.

I want to update my issue. Actually, after weeks I realised that the wifi and other signals were not working because the battery was blown and the back case with all the antennas were not touching the corresponding connection pins. I solved it with replacing with an original battery from eBay. But I found out what is the real problem. The damaged pins are somehow related to the battery. When it is fully charged, aftet plugging out it goes right to 80%. Everytime. Sometimes it holds on 100% and discharging in a right way but when it reaches 20% of charge, it goes down to 1% right away. So this is the result of damaged pins. Can anybody say what are these pins doing and if it can be repaired somehow? Dont want to buy a new MB
There are few phone shops that are capable of repairing things like this, especially on nexus 4 (in your favour you still have the chips), I think you're best off getting a new phone, don't buy a new mobo it's not gonna be worth it.
Like you say, those chips missing could have permanently damaged the IC, if they're resistors to drop voltage the chip could easily be damaged.

I think you should consider getting a new battery soon, I once teared down a battery to see what was inside and it's basically a lot of compressed layers of what ever the inside of a battery is made and that's basically where it keeps the electricity from when you charge it so I'm pretty sure that the little hole you made will slowly reduce battery until it can no longer charge plus it will also expose your phone to those toxic chemicals and I'm sure that is not good for y]the phone and as for the smell it turns out that depending on the amount of usage you have given it(charging and killing the battery) makes it produce a different smell because out of the many that I have teared there was one from an ipod touch of about 8 years ago(a few years have passed since this happened so more about 12-15years in total) smelled really good compared to a battery which was practically brand new
so in little words yes you should replace it asap

IMMEDIATELY change the battery and DO NOT use the phone. Li Polymer batteries vent when punctured, worst case scenario is a blowtorch fire that can cause 3rd degree burn on your skin, to be more precise a hole in you, or you can put your room on fire. Please, change the battery immediately!

Battery Damage Advice

I have ordered a replacement battery but I am wondering if there is something else that should be considered.
The LCD screen was replaced about a month ago and it was a battle to get the battery out. The battery was damaged trying to slice through the glue when the outer covering of the battery got accidentally sliced open.
After reassembly everything worked fine except for the battery would get to about 40%, then shut down after a notification that the battery was at 0%.
That percentage when it shuts down is getting progressively higher. In fact it can happen any time now.
I've done a clean install of the latest Pure Nexus, but there was no difference.
While it is on the charger, it never happens.
So do the XDA gurus think a new battery only is required, or might there be something else?
Thank you in advance.
It might have to do with a certain chip thats gone missing, I don't think it has to do with a battery, i will look into it later. Anyway don't change the battery yet.

The fact you know you sliced into the battery makes it pretty obvious. Damaged battery=battery issues. Replace the battery. Also if the battery structure has been compromised at all you risk being one of those people missing half a thigh because your Li-Ion battery turned into a jet pack in your pocket.

I read your advice, powered off the 6P, swapped the sim into the trusty HTC S One, and will wait for the new battery to arrive.
Thank you

Swollen battery, how to change it?

Hi everyone, I've had this phone since the day it was released and it has never failed on me, and I've always charged it correctly not usin it while charging and not overchargin it and never letting it die from battery low
Anyways, recently I have noticed that the back of the phone is slightly bulging up, it's still veeery slightly and to be sure im not mistaken, i put ut on a flat surface and saw that the phone is standing on the center of its back. Where XPERIA is printed.
Is there a way i could change the battery myself at home? Or is it even easy to be done by a repair shop or not? There arent any Sony support centers in my country.
Btw, I havent noticed any changes to the routin batterylife of my device
Try this guide here:

Assuming you can get access to the battery, when you get the battery out you will notice the plastic skin around the battery is bulging. Use a pin an pop it, then the gas stuck insde will escape. Then put back in your phone and your done.
I did this for my Xperia Z. No issues... good as new now.
i will try to do it, hopefully not exploding my phone or hand
the reason why im hesitating is that Ive heard that the NFC will most likely get damaged when trying to change battery
