Dual 4G/VoLTE - Moto G5 Plus Questions & Answers

Hey everyone..
So the Pie update is being rolled out for the MI A1 and it brings with it Dual VoLTE/4G capabilities.
Both MI A1 (tissot) and the Moto G5+ (potter) are using Snapdragon's X9 LTE modem. So is there a possibility for Dual 4G on Moto G5+ too?

I don't think so as the sim slot 1 is only have 4g hardware and sim slot 2 is having normal 3g hardware. So it won't work.

Both slots have 4G hardware.
You can use 4G on both sims.
But you can't use 4G on both sims at the same time.

Yes exactly... So was the case with (Tissot) MI A1... Somehow Xaiomi managed to get Dual VoLTE working on the phone. Which is pretty amazing to be honest as i didnt think the X9 modem supported dual 4G or VoLTE.
Hoping that the peeps at XDA find a solution for that. Im dying to use that.

Im in NA, our sim tray only comes with one slot, but if I look in my sim tray slot I can see there is two spots for two sims, I purchased a dual tray online, but it never works, Im not sure what makes the dual sim work it must be software ?

Thanks. I am aware the official support is over, but magic often does happen in this forum.

Is the Moto X Play a Dual LTE device?

Hey!
Are each sim slots 4G capable in the dual sim variant? Because I have an LG G3 currently and the thing is only one slot is 4G capable, the other one is restricted to 2G (which just kills the point of a dual sim device for me).
Thanks in advance!
Nope, same as you have. 1 - LTE + 1 - GSM
To be precise: only one SIM slot at a time can be chosen as full LTE/3G/2G capable, the respective other SIM slot is then only 2G capable without any data. But you can change the selection of the slots on the fly, so it does not matter which SIM is in which slot.
That's great to hear. Which region phone do you have? Just curious.

Thanks! That is actually great. My LG G3 has two slots, but one of these is strictly 2G, I mean really LG? lol. So you cannot change it on the fly.

[Moto X Force] all Mexican Moto x Force are Dual sim!!!

Hi! jaocagomez here.
i've sent about 5 mexican moto x force to different places, but nobody makes clear this.
is the mexican x force dual sim by default?
i know it says something in settings.
can ANYONE confirm or deny this?
could the DS on baseband and system version mean DUAL SIM?
pic related.
i'll answer myself (sorry for the doble post)
i was suspicious because the name in the baseband said DS which mean dual sim, after this i only needed confirmation that it works right out of the box without having to flash anything.
strange thing is, this is not listed on the x force motorola page, but it works if you put your 2nd sim.
All moto x Force from mexico are dual sim
so far i only confirmed the 32gb version working.
im waiting for the 64Gb version confirmation.

My MXF (64 GB) comes from a retail store in México D.F., and is a dual sim model too. Dual sim working out of the box and after 6.0 update
Mine is from UK and sim slot shows sim1 and sd card/sim2. I have to replace another sim for nano to be able to test.

Because most probably is just generic slot. Doesn't mean that phone itself has dual sim support. Honestly I don't think it has, will test when I get another nano sim.

So far, all the sources I have seen report that the UK version is a single SIM model.
Even if the tray says "SIM 2", it doesn't mean anything...
Even the single SIM version of X Play has a tray that includes space for the second SIM card (and also says "SIM 2"), it's just covered with a piece of plastic.
In X Force the same space is shared between second SIM and SD card, so they can't cover it. That's all...
---------- Post added at 08:18 ---------- Previous post was at 08:12 ----------
So, to sum things up, so far we know that 32GB version from Mexican Moto Maker is a dual SIM model.
And that 64GB version from a retail location in Mexico is also a dual SIM model - but this may not be the exact same model as available through Moto Maker.
Whether the 64GB version from Moto Maker is, in fact, dual SIM hasn't been confirmed yet...
It would be nice if Motorola actually confirmed that...
I'm going crazy already installed more than 6 versions, LAT, MX, BR, EU and any works DualSim.
My team is BL Unlock SIM Unlock and does not work, apparently has to do the system, the version that you have your 23.11.5.kinzie_retmx_ds.retla.en.01 retmx * * is the only one that is DualSim, as you installed this version ?
You can have the link or location came down?
You can make a backup of your modem?

This post doesn't make any sense. What team? What doesn't work?
What does unlocking SIM have to do with dual SIM capabilities?
What device do you have? Which country did it come from?

Usually if you see "ds" in baseband / sw version on stock sw, then it's a dual-sim.
On the side note, which LTE bands does mexican Moto X Force have? I kinda like it's dual-sim, since now I have two Moto MAXX in my pocket.

Out of curiosity, I removed the SIM tray from my Turbo 2 and took a peek inside with a bright light. Apparently, my XT1585 has dual SIM... hardware-wise at least. Of course, my SIM tray won't fit a 2nd SIM, only the SD card.
Would it be safe to say all Turbo 2 and X Force variations are dual SIM from a hardware perspective?

Is the SIM tray different than the one in XT1580 (X Force)?
Because SIM tray in X Force has only two slots -one for the first SIM card, and the second one for either SD card or the second SIM card - but not both.

I'm not sure what you saw inside your phone, but X Play (XT1563) also looks like,
from hardware perspective, it has connectors for the second SIM - and the single SIM version cannot be converted to a dual one regardless.
So it probably doesn't really matter whether those connectors are there or not...
I'm really intrested in this topic. I'm in Italy, and I'd love to put my hands on a Moto X Force dual sim. The ultimate smarphone.
So far I understood the only version ds is the mexican one, and no single sim version can become dual sim by flashing firmware. Is that correct?

I haven't seen a single X Force from Mexico being reported as a single SIM version, and there are several reports saying it is a dual SIM device.
However, Motorola Mexico still claims it is a single SIM device, and their webpage doesn't specify whether it is a dual or single version,
just that it uses nano SIMs.
There is also X Force from Brazil which, according to Motorola Brazil webpage, is officially a dual SIM device.
The UK version of X Force is officially (on the webpage) a single SIM device and it doesn't have options for the second SIM.
However, I don't know if anybody even tried flashing the UK version with a different firmware or what the result of that flashing would be.

It's the same for UK X Play, but X Play can be converted to Dual SIM by flashing a Dual SIM firmware. I guess it will be the same for X Force, but someone has to take the risk to confirm that.

LG G6 Dual Sim (H870DS) software support

I plan to buy a brand new H870DS, and I have a quetion: since its not the regular model - will it get OTAs as fast and as long as H870? And what about costum ROMS made for H870? are they going to apply to H870DS?
no no and no
What he said. We are still on April. The single Sims are on June / July maybe. Even with my G3 updates were slower than my mates single SIM. But I still love the G6 though.
Single sim updates are faster than dual SIM
.

Im afraid he is correct. Dual SIM support and community builds are rare or atleast not as fast and not as versatile as that of Single SIM.
I own a Dual SIm variant and stuck with March Security update, even now.

So still no working dual SIM options?

As per the title, are we still without dual sim support? Killin' me!

Correct, nobody has figured out a way to do it yet. It's possible we never will depending on if the X55 modem will ever play nicely. Nobody has been able to manage to boot the International 7T Pro ROM either, which could be a first step.
I have found people using dual SIMs on the OnePlus 7T. I think you just have to get SIM unlocked from T-Mobile then buy a dual SIM card tray.

Sadly, it's more involved than that. It normally involves switching to the international variant of OxygenOS. The problem: this device is a T-Mobile exclusive, which means there's no variant of the software that'll allow dual SIM without a custom ROM.

One plus 8 pro dual sim solution?

Hello, just received my new 8pro but it is still not supporting dual sim. It's already September and I think it's ridiculous. Customer service is saying the same crap that it will be available it the next update.
Did anyone found solutions to fix the problem? Is there some kind of rom you can install to enable it?
Also Galaxy note 20 ultra is available in dual sim supposedly. The ATT version is locked as well. I don't understand why. I would go for ATT because they give up to $1000 off for trade in but again I really need that dual sim capability. It seems to me that both phones can be rooted and the issue will be fixed? Can anyone confirm that?
Any help will be appreciated.
It can be done with box and software modification, as all 8 Pro's share same hardware and modem/sim slot.
If you don't have any tool for unlocking/repair - just bring to local mobile phone repair shop.

I had no issues taking the Sim out of my pixel 2 when I went to the Oneplus 7 pro. Then from the 7 pro to the 8 pro I had no issues either. Used the same SIM.
Open Beta has also recently came out today and isn't filled with bugs so I would recommend going that route.
Yes, Beta 1 should be a better route..
DP4 was pretty stable. I just installed Beta 1. Its only been a couple of hours but it seems to be pretty good.
