LG V20 H910 Permanently Network Locked: How to Unlock? - LG V20 Questions & Answers

Dear all, I bought my lg v20 on eBay network locked. When i dial 2945#*910# it brings out different network unlocking options on clicking on dismiss i get "phone is permanently locked and cannot be unlocked". Pleasr anyone know how i can unlock the phone? It's root with dirty santa already. Your help is needed. Thanks

Hello. Did you fix this issue?

Flashing a US996 KDZ should do the trick, only model with ****ed up SIM lock is the H918

using the patched dll files for LGUP and used the US996 KDZ file.... choose the Partition DL option to flash the firmware using LGUP wola it worked.... again it worked with me but not sure if it will work with all...... if you do it you may end killing your phone forever..... right now my H918 is running US996 os

Please tell me is it work with H990Ds?

Anyone heard of the green screen of death?

So I got my H910 back from LG. and of course it had the latest firmware -- so dirty cow was patched.
Thanks to a discovery by @smitel and then @Prowler_gr doing the dirty work of patching it for our device, LG UP is now able to easily flash firmware from other variants.
So, with this patched copy I proceeded to flash the H915 v10e KDZ -- which IS rootable.
The H910 and H915 are the same phone (at least as far as the FCC is concerned). It worked flawlessly -- except I had no service. No big deal, just need the modem firmware (I hope). In order to flash said modem firmware, I would need a rooted device, so I proceeded. Again, @me2151's dirtycow worked great -- phone rebooted as it was supposed to, I rebooted to recovery and proceeded to flash SuperSU.
Everything went as it should -- till it rebooted. Now I get a green screen of death. The text is too small (getting old), so it is hard to make out, but I can see:
Apps FIQ: NOC Error!
Press vol down if you want to reboot
Reset reason -- some strings with hex values
Board info
a bunch of stuff, but the interesting bit here is:
secure: enabled
Then there is a stack dump.
I know with the engineering aboot, that if you do a fastboot oem device-info that it showed as locked, but this is curious that the XBL thinks that it is secure.
I have tried flashing several kernels, and flashing back the stock system partition, to no avail.
Before I started over in the hopes that I maybe there was a bad flash along the way, I figured I would see if anyone else had a hint.
Thanks,
-- Brian
The good news (I think) is that I can still get into recovery and download mode, so I don't think I bricked my phone yet again.
Its always said secure for the engineering aboot. The engineering aboot allows modified partitions but still considers itself secure(but its not). So you dont need to worry about the aboot saying secure. As for green screen im pretty sure green screen is related to modem. have you tried replacing the modem?
@me2151 First, thanks very much for replying -- I know you are out of the V20 scene.
I haven't been able to get anyone to dump the H910 modem for me yet, and I am now sure you are right.
With an AT&T SIM, it boots, but with a T-Mobile SIM it green screens. Do you know if the SIM dictates what bands are used? If so, I am guessing that T-Mobile is trying to use a band that the H915 firmware isn't aware of:
SIM: Tune to channel 6!
Modem: Uhh no, there is no channel 6!
SIM: Do it anyway!
Modem: Uhh -- how about I just green screen instead...
Thanks again dude. Now I just wait for some kind soul to dump their firmware.
-- Brian
I got a lot of those on my first effort to root. Fastboot was failing to flash TWRP, so I was booting with stock kernel getting all sorts of crashes (green screen & black screen). Once I successfully flashed recovery & flashed @emdroidle 's kernel for H990Ds it was all smoothe. Maybe you need a new kernel...
I did have the stock H910 kernel still sitting around from before I bricked it, and had to send it to LG. I also tried the Werewolf kernel, and even the H918 stock kernel.
I am pretty sure that @me2151 is correct since it will boot with no SIM or with an AT&T SIM -- it is only when I put in the T-Mobile SIM that it green screens.
I need the H910 modem anyway since the H915 modem is a no go...

yes and no. the simcard would call for a band but usually the phone would ignore it if it is disabled on the phone. Whats probably happening is the tmo simcard is calling for paramaters that are different than the h915 modem and its crashing the modem.

Guys~someone had flash LS993 to H870!and how?

How to do that?
This can avoid sprint‘s sim lock.and after that, the phone can do something like do a hard reset.
so how they can do it?and can LS993 flash to US993?
ls992 is able to flash US992‘’s rom,but it should exhange the phone's chins......
Where did you see this? Can you provide a link to the site showing where someone flashed this as your title says?
I recently flashed my ls993 on the h870 and everything worked except wifi and sim. I wanted to try h872 but this led to qdloader 9008. I need help and it's possible I can unlock the bootloader. I suspect that all lg g6 have the same motherboard and firmware can be put one and the same. I'm asking for help in unbricking and I wanted to check unlock.bin

[Help Pls] LG V20 VS995 after Root No GSM Signal - Service Disabled - No Service

Hello All,
For the past 3 weeks, I was reading threads and trying to solve the issue, but no luck. So please help me.
My problem/story started when I have ordered an LG V20 US996 from china, everything was working. I wanted to root it so I have tried this https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/v20-h915us996-dirtyelf-bootloader-t3568013 and it worked, but I have lost the GSM Signal
I have tried to fix the issue by going to *#*#4636#*#* -> Phone information, but the US996 rom can’t access this menu. So I have tied to flash LineageOS for US996 it has started but the touch didn’t work so I have used an OTG Mouse, I went to *#*#4636#*#* but no result
After a long search on the internet I have come on a thread that suggest to see the original model of the phone (because as they said in china they may change the phone version), so I have checked the motherboard and I have found out that my phone is VS995.
But when I enter the LGUP or UPPERCUT it says that it is US996, I only can flash US996 KDZ ROM. However, after I went to ##PROGRAM996 I hit there reset (I don’t know exactly where) the phone restarted and now it shows in LGUP that it is VS995
So I have flashed using UPPERCUT VS99512A_06_1114_ARB00.kdz and no result still no GSM Signal then I have rooted the phone using https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/development/ls997vs995h910-dirtysanta-bootloader-t3519410
I have flashed back the original EFS, no result still no GSM Signal
So I have Installed LineageOS for VS995 in order to access *#*#4636#*#* (because I couldn’t access any hidden menu form the VS995 original dialer) after Installing LineageOS the touch screen didn’t work I have an OTG Mouse, I went to *#*#4636#*#* -> Phone information, I Turn on the Radio but the still no GSM Signal
I have tried flushing multiple kernels and ROMs but no luck
I even tired this https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/manual-program-sprint-ls997-v20-t3557676 but no luck, I couldn’t contact Verizon for the MSID number because I live in Lebanon
P.S: I have an IMEI number
I am going crazy here
Please help me
i have also tried this https://forum.xda-developers.com/v2...-ls997-v20-t3557676/post71315675#post71315675
and didn't work
i have no signal problem too, after doing firmware update using wifi, now my VS995 won't register to GSM/LTE network and it says Sim Card is not from Verizon...
how to activate this phone? i'm not in USA as your problem i cannot activate the VS995 using Verizon services,..
what should we do? to activate manually without the Verizon simcards??
Mine was showing no signal until I made a call, then it worked. I'm in the US, though.
VS995
LineageOS 14.1
Verizon
Habe you tried changing to Global. I am in the UK and have a vs995 and i am getting the not a verizon sim (which you can ignore). My problem is that using my contract carrier (EE) i cannot access 4G only 3G GSM but if i use a different carrier sim (O2) 4G/LTE is working.
hey..
can anyone pls share the qcn for vs995..?

VS995 with T-Mobile ROM? How to flash back to VS995?

Hi,
I have a V20 that works fine but I'm trying to unlock it. I thought I had a H918 but when I give my IMEI or use the unlock app from T-Mobile they are not able to find it. When I plugged my IMEI into a checker it says I have a VS995. I verified with a Verizon unlocker that my IMEI is a VS995.
Either way, I'm trying to flash a stock VS995 back on to it but LGUP obviously says I can not cross flash. How could this have happened in the first place?
Grab the patched copy of LG UP and dump your aboot partition and post a link. I need to see if the RSA key matches a VS995 or an H918.
If the key matches a VS995, then you can use the patched LG UP in partition DL mode to put the VS995 firmware back on your phone. If it matches the key of the H918, then you will brick your phone if you use anything other than H918 firmware.
If it is an H918 aboot, then someone has changed the IMEI of the phone. Even suggesting this is a gray area, but considering I am not telling you HOW to do it, then I think I will be safe...
You will need to buy a cheap T-Mobile phone, and change the IMEI over from that phone to this one, and then throw the cheap phone away.
Do not ask how to change an IMEI -- that is a no no on here.
-- Brian
Not asking about IMEI change
aboot dump is here:
https://1drv.ms/u/s!AvCSuR2bvtpdg91pTxaM5ldEXe0M4Q
Thanks
That is most definitely an H918. Someone swapped the IMEI with a VS995.
If you flash VS995 firmware onto it, you will brick it.
Your only choice is to swap the IMEI back...
-- Brian
So strange, is there anywhere the IMEI is printed on the phone, I'm pretty sure its mandatory.
The phone has a T-Mobile ROM on it, was like that when I bought it as well.
Both of my V20s (H910 and H918) have the IMEI on a sticker under the battery. Did you buy the phone new?
-- Brian
Bought used, will report back. Thanks for all the help Brian
Edit, no sticker under battery, just a QR code.
Someone bought it used off of eBay (or somewhere) with a bad IMEI, refurbished it, and put a VS995 IMEI on it. Don't know if you bought from eBay or not, but whenever you buy a used cell phone, make SURE you are buying from a reputable dealer. It is very easy to grab a bunch of junk phones just for their IMEIs.....

hey guys..
anyone has qcn for vs995..?

Network locked V35

Hi. I recently bought the LG V35 supposedly unlocked; however, I am unable to activate on T-Mobile.
Backstory: After purchasing the V35, I followed the instructions on cross flashing to get rid of the AT&T bloat here https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-v35/development/bootloader-unlock-root-instruction-t4052145. The firmware I downloaded was from https://lg-firmwares.com/lg-lmv350ulm-firmwares/; however, the AIO and the USA versions are both the same. I flashed one of the firmware and all is fine, except now I get "Network locked" after I insert my SIM card from T-Mobile. I went AT&T's site https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/#/https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/#/ for an unlock code; however, I do not get a prompt on my phone to enter the code. This is after I flashed the phone.
My questions are, which version of the firmware was I to use so my phone is network unlocked AIO or USA? If they are both the same, how do I get the phone to be network unlocked so I can activate the V35 to T-Mobile.
TIA

You need to be on AT&T firmware to use the carrier unlock code. If you cross flash to different firmware before carrier unlocking you are out of luck. EDIT: see posts below where new information has emerged.
Obviously your V35 was not carrier unlocked/SIM card unlocked, in spite of what the seller said?
Unlike with the LG V30 series, flashing carrier unlocked firmware does NOT carrier unlock AT&T LG V35. You need to use carrier unlock code prior to cross flashing different variant firmware.
Perhaps you can contact someone with Octoplus box and get back to AT&T firmware to use carrier unlock code. AT&T doesn't publicly release KDZ for their firmware, but some dealers with Medusa and Octoplus boxes still somehow have it.

My understanding is that if you flash the firmware for south america, when you boot it with your sim card, a pop up will appear asking for an unlock code. Haven't done it myself but it sounds like in your situation it wouldn't hurt to try...
Of course, if u don't get a pop up, try the code that supposedly brings up pop up to enter code.
follow this link for the MIA version that should work.
cheers, let us know if you try it the results.
Thread Cleaned and it will end here regarding this back and forth, take care.
Hi OP, use LGUP to flash Mexican region kdz, insert your T-Mobile sim and unlock window will pop-up upon reboot and you can use the unlock code to unlock your phone. Good luck.

Guaranteed? Well, as stated by those mentioning it here, I don't think we've actually done it, only repeating that others say it will work. So again, guaranteed? I couldn't guarantee it, but it seems unlikely that people would say it does work, and be lying about it?
Here's a GDrive link to the kdz you'd want to flash to try it. It's the latest Oreo for the south american region. Aside from using LGUP to flash it, you'd need an unlock code.
The md5 sum from this LG Page should match, to verify legitimacy.
Let us know if it works.

So I just flashed my phone from the link you provided and no dice. I reflashed, factory reset, insert the SIM card after completing set up, insert SIM card after factory reset the second time, etc. with no luck. I am not getting a pop to ask for the unlock code.
EDIT to add: So I found a set of instructions when I don't get a pop up asking for the network unlock code (below)
Second option (device doesn't ask for an unlock code with an unaccepted SIM)
1. Start the device with an accepted simcard (example LG V35 ThinQ was bought in Orange you need to insert an Orange card)
2. Go to the dial screen and press “2945#*model number#” (the same way you enter a phone number)
Example: the device is a P999 you need to enter “2945#*999#” or for KU990 you need to enter “2945#*990#” etc…
So far I am getting closer. Now I get a message saying SIM not provisioned. I will continue to research and troubleshoot. If I continue to run into a another roadblock, I will post here. Thank you all.
Okay, now I fracked up something else. I went from V350EM10h_OPEN_SCA_OP_118.kdz to V350ULM20f_00_NAO_US_
Okay now I am stuck at the LG Life's Good splash screen. I went back to LGUP and did not see it was defaulted to Refurbish going from V350EM10h_00_OPEN_SCA_OP_0118.kdz to V350ULM20f_00_NAO_US_OP_0218.kdz. I went back and reran LGUP with Upgrade chosen; however, the phone is still stuck at the splash screen. Help!

So you've tired to reflash ulm and have an issue there. But did you get it sim unlocked?
here's also some instructions I found re unlocking sim if you don't get a pop-up
UNLOCK LG UNLOCK INSTRUCTIONS
ONCE YOU HAVE RECEIVED THE UNLOCK CODE EMAIL, PLEASE FOLLOW THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY.
1) Insert a SIM card that is not from the original carrier in your phone and power on the phone.
2) Once finished loading your phone will ask you for the "SIM Network Unlock PIN".
If your phone does not prompt for a code, please dial 2945#* [model number] # to bring up the prompt
For example LG G4 D851: Dial 2945#*851#
3) Enter the LG Network Unlock Code.
If your phone asks for the "SIM network unlock PIN", use the NCK code.
If your phone asks for the "SIM Service Provider unlock PIN", use the SPCK code.
---------------------
But now you have an additional issue, you say you used 'refurbish' mode for both flashings? To the S.A. one and then back to the ulm one?
To my understanding, that should have worked. But whatever the case may have been, you're stuck now, from what I understand. If that's the case, all I can suggest is trying 'DL' mode for the ULM and select all partitions, OR maybe try 'Upgrade' (if you did refurbish" or refurbish if you did the other.
Sorry to hear you're having trouble, I guess, if you followed the procedure and it didn't work, then this is an indication there IS NOT a way to unlock the sim if you failed to do it on ATT OS.
Let us know if you're able to make any progress / got it sim unlocked or not. We'll have to start relaying the results so others don't have the same issue.

Well that's not good. I can only suggest try doing a partition D/L? I don't know if that would help or not, but not sure it could be worse than it is now? Certainly don't try the other options like chip erase etc. Those are not for a situation like this, they will certainly make things worse!
