Rooting an older Verizon version 10.1 w/Android 4.0.4 - Galaxy Tab 10.1 General

Thanks for the help.
I'm looking to root an older Verizon version 10.1 w/Android ver 4.0.4 in order that I can load newer apps. What is my best path forward?

This one will work:

Since you are on 4.0.4, don't install the
"no-verify-opt-encrypt-6.0zip". That's just for later Android versions.

This is pretty interesting. Check out the press release. Think they're cooking up a 3.2 ROM for the GT10?

Samsung supports multiple versions of OS based on model and region. The newest ROMs for the SGS2 run on 2.3.3, 2.3.4, and 2.3.5, based on the region of the phone. They might not update the Wi-Fi Tab just to give it 3.2 but would use 3.2 in the next maintenance release they issue. I'm sure because the T-Mobile Tab has a different radio than the international 3G version there was additional s/w work needed so they used the latest OS as a base.

Sure, all manufacturers do that. What's interesting here is that there's a possibility of a GT10 running Honeycomb 3.2.

Why have some new sticks got android 4.1.2 and older ones 4.1.1 can we update?

Is there a way to update? Of am I stick with 4.1.1 version of an droid I have an imito mx2

Samsung 10.1 GT-P7500R able to update beyond 4.0.4?

This a a rogers tablet android version 4.0.4 baseband P7500RUXLH2 kernel version 3.1.10 buildnumber IMM76D.RUXLH2 - no sd card slot
The other tablet is a GT-P7510 same android version 4.0.4 - no sd card slot
I recently bought 2 of these tablets as they were decently priced.
Just realized they do not have sd-cards [can't believe Samsung makes a device without an sd-card slot]
Haven't found a thread yet to update to a newer rom, wondering if it is possible with these tablets?
Anyone with these rogers tablets who were able to update beyond 4.0.4?
I guess without an SDcard slot this is probably impossible but there is always hope...

Your P7500 and P7510 should be able to upgrade to these ROMs below:
[ROM][Unofficial][AOSP] Android 5.1.1 Lollipop
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...android-5-0-0-lollipop-lrx21m-p4wifi-t2938870
[ROM][Unofficial][AOSP] Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-10-1/development/rom-android-6-0-marshmallow-t3266663
Personally I'd suggest 5.1.1 over 6.0.1, but it depends, you can have a try.
Good luck on flashing!
Compatibility?

The 5.1.1 Lollipop link lists TWRP 2.8.7.0 (or newer) as requirement for install , but the early retail model P7510 wifi is not listed as compatible with 2.8.7.0 (see Win Team-TWRP website). A search for the newest TWRP version compatible with early p7510 came up with TWRP 2.8.0.0. Would the installed CWM version used to root the early P7510 (ICS 4.0.4) work, or does TWRP 2.8.7.0 provide a function that earlier TWRP versions and CWM don't provide when upgrading the ROM to 5.1.1?

When I do it, I just followed OP's post and didn't pay much notice to this TWRP version, but I did see some posts saying that a different TWRP version would cause unsuccessful flash.
I think only the owner can explain your question...

Hoping to upgrade a Canadian GT-N8010 to something newer than 4.1.2.

I'm new to the tablet upgrade process and I'm looking for guidance.
Details...
- GT-N8010 purchased in Canada
- I believe the Android version is 4.1.2 (Have to check)
- Can't update certain apps as a newer Android version is required
- I don't believe I need a version greater than 4.4.2, but I'm willing to upgrade even higher if the firmware is stable.
Can someone explain to me in layman's terms, what I need to do to improve the usability of this tablet with a newer version of the Android OS?
For example,...
What info besides GT-N8010 and 4.1.2 do I need from my tablet to ensure it is compatible with a newer Android version?
Can purchased Play Store apps compatible with the newer version be downloaded and installed in the same typical fashion?
Are there any potential country or localization issues where general usability and apps are concerned?
Did I miss anything?
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks, Steve.
No response? The tablet worksgreat just the android version is too old. Damn capitalism
Does not help posting in the wrong section .

Tab A Update

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab A (SM-T350) that is on its last official Android version of 7.1.1. I'd like to update it to something newer for fun, but also for experience. Could someone please provide me with some instructions to update this tablet to the newest possible version? Thank you in advance!
