Substratum Navbar themes? - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

Wow, I don't remember the last time I created a thread, lol! Are there any OOS 9 substratum themes for the navbar themes? The one comprehensive theme I found doesn't quite have OOS 9 support and I just figured out why that is lol. Anyone following a particular developer that plans on releasing a navbar theme?

I'm just wondering for themes in general, I can't get mono/art to work at all.

I just tried swift black with the emrald accent and everything is navy blue and orange. What should the system theme be set to before the substatum, I think I messed up having it on dark already.

Nav bar apps in play store will theme navbar.

I tried the navbar apps, but the 6T memory management seems to keep killing the app. Super annoying with 8 god damn GB of RAM. I set the navbar to amoled black, and it eventually reverts back to default.

Tweak the battery & background settings (do not optimize or restrict),allow it to display over other apps & it should stay on.
Also,lock it in recents.

Nougat Substratum themes?

Has anyone gotten any of these to work? The bright white notifications with black themes are blinding and hideous. I've tried a few on the Substratum but they always error out when applying systemui themes.

swift black is the only one i got to work and no system ui tweaks are going to work on this device none were created for it most themes were made with nexus/pixel devices in mind and a few devs decided to make updates to use certain theme aspects on the s8/s8+ if you can find one with system ui tweaks that work that dev put extra work into it to make it work on s7 edge
I got them all to work

Substratum + Andromeda Rootless Works!

So being overwhelmed with joy, I didn't spend much time searching to see if this was already stated... none-the-less, Substratum themes work great on Stock Oreo, rootless, with the help of Andromeda. Indeed. I'm trying Archangel's blank navbar for that purpose until all that gets figured out.

Sorry, no, I misunderstood. There's a blank Navbar theme you can use. its there, just invisible.
Here's a good one if you're like me and like to have more than 3 columns for your quick toggles.

How has everybody's experience been with Substratum and apps? I love the theming capability, but keep on having certain apps force close. This is my first attempt with Substratum so I am sure I am doing something wrong, but not quite sure where to look. I have ensured that apps are all updated, and I choose the correct version on theme application, but I still end up with certain apps crashing. For example, I was using swift black (very nice btw) and Google photos and facebook messenger would force close. Is it best to only theme system stuff and leave apps alone? Or is swift black to blame? Or am I doing something wrong like I suspect?
It depends greatly on the themers, but can be easily broken by an app update. Themers like de Jan, Niklas Schnettler, Jeremy Beck, I could go on... Are very thorough and quick about updating themes. One approach is to Apply all the Overlays, as I'm sure you've done, but if an app crashes, just go back into Substratum and reapply the specific app overlay. If this doesn't help (oh, and reboot) then remove, uninstall or disable that specific app overlay. I'd say I probably have a an 80% success rate on all Overlays working perfectly on a given theme. (I have maybe 15 apps over and above stock) You could also just not theme apps, and only system and the base stock apps. It will still be gorgeous...
Try these: Outline, Mono, (anything from DeJan or Kohlewrrk) Spectrum, Aligned)

I wonder if that is what it is. I may have to try being more meticulous since I cannot fix it unless attached to a computer. Thank you for the reply. Have you noticed any issues with system theming?

Anyone know a theme that centers clock that currently works
I want to be able to theme my phone without rooting, and sure, the 1.99 for Andromeda is no big deal. However, a lot of other themes (like Archangel's navbar app) are paid as well, so I'd be spending more in addition to paying first to be able to theme. Are there any other themes with transparent navbars, or just any other way so that I wouldn't be spending more on top of the first price?
Currently this no longer works with 8.1 Beta until the code is updated by the developer..

Just so you guys realize, a nav bar without any pixels (total black) will actually leave a burn-in of that exact size. In order to limit that, you need to fill it with some color other than red (red pixels don't wear).

Flux theme crashed system UI for me... which corrupted the OS. Had to do a factory reset to get it running again. Just FYI.

Dark theme not working.

Hi. I installed P beta, and in the display setting I saw the theme that can choose. There's light, dark and auto. Before locking back the bootloader the dark worked great. Now, after system was reset, dark mode doesn't seem to do anything. Quick settings is still white... Should I do something more?
Doesn't work for me either I'm afraid.
It only works if u have a dark wallpaper. Then it works
It's still broken in the official release... what sort of idiot developers or QA people can't test and catch simple bugs like this?
It would take maybe an hour to test various android settings to make sure they were all functioning as expected.

Apparently some people have a hard time understanding wallpaper selection shouldn't effect anything unless you're on AUTO.
If you pick DARK or LIGHT it should default to that mode regardless of what your wallpaper is.

If that doesn't get the point across nothing will!
I've seen a lot of people having this same issues on Reddit.
It's working for me but my background is totally black.
Set the theme to dark and the restart the phone. That's how it started working on my phone.

This is an issue which has been present for months. Believe me my phone has been restarted multiple times since the first P Beta, up to and including there current release. Does nothing. Substratum themes also have zero effect. Magisk 16.74 here.
I found the fix! Flip the theme to dark theme in the settings and then install this all black wallpaper below. That will turn everything to the dark theme. Once everything is dark you can switch the wallpaper to any other wallpaper and it should stay in the dark theme. Hope this helps!

What I noticed about the dark theme is that it changes the pull down menu, app drawer, power button selection and volume. It does not change the settings menu, those all stay light. Very weird. It should be all or nothing. Come on Google, get it together!

Live wallpapers cannot be used if you want to trigger the dark theme. That's the reason why it's not working for many. Has to be a dark image.

Best Dark Theme

Heya,
Just wondering, if you had to put a simple, but complete (full UI) dark theme on your Note 9... which one would it be (that you can find on the default samsung theme app).
I always use material dark or material black on my Samsung phones.

You can use substratum with andromeda
If you want a COMPLETE dark theme, you'll want to get Swift Black.
I like Britzer. It's a very dark cool gray with Pixel blue accents and is very lightweight. For icons I use Pixelize.

I had been using these on my s9+ but it started to get real wonky in the last few months, to the point where it wasn't worth it and I removed it completely.
Do you guys just turn off auto updates on those apps and then deal with the annoyance of having to confirm that those aren't auto updates every time your other apps update? It seemed like a lot of times, my "don't auto update" apps would somehow end up auto updating again at some point, and it would frequently break the main google app, google search bar, youtube, etc.
Still a lot better than the days you'd have to hook it back up to a PC to run andromeda, but a hassle none the less and having the main google app constantly break on me was a bad enough experience that I just went back to a dark samsung theme. Curious to see others' experience with it

I turned off auto updates in google play settings and will update apps together with "Swift for Samsung" theme so that the apps won't crash. The update cycle of the theme is frequent enough (atleast once a week). My expereince with the swift themes is really good as it themes many 3rd party apps unlike a samsung theme.

Substratum for [rooted] OnePlus 8 Pro

What Substratum theme is everyone running on their 8 Pro? Specifically, wifi and status bar icons....I think stock is uggo.
Just found this. It's called Liv Dark. Great for themeing status bar and Wi-Fi icons.
I've tried Aether to move clock to the center, but it just gave me boot to to recovery.
Does anyone know of a working theme that moves the clock? (Excluding K-Klock which uses a clock colour that doesn't change dynamically)
