This is back story if you want to get to the meat of the problem you can skip this paragraph:
Ok so I've done ROOTING and ROMing a few times now, with my first phone being the Samsung intercept, then the HTC EVO 4G, then it was a Nook color, then the Galaxy SII, and then I bought a Nexus and loved its Vanilla Android goodness.... but that was too small so I got myself a Note 3... I work at Verizon retailer (I'm sorry in advance) since I did a good job last month and the new Note4 came out, the owner gave me the Demo unit of the Samsung Note 3... it has never been updated because the Verizon servers does not see it as a Note 3, they see it as a "4G Test Device" even getting it turned on was a hassle since the system did not detect it as a phone more like a Jetpack I had to start up my servace with my Nexus, but the strange thing is Straight Talk (At&T) saw it fine as a Note 3... Verizon has total control of its updates and pushes them to phones as needed... mine will not update since the server does not know its a Note... SOoo I've gone back in forth from Verizon to Samsung and one just keeps pointing the finger at the other blaming each other saying that the other one is the one that needs to fix it in their system... I'm 90% sure its Samsung since they report the devices as they are made... but I digress the MAIN reason I wanted the update was for the firmware updates, but I have seen them KILL some of the V Notes signals, so maybe this is a blessing... I DO want to put a new ROM on this phone, but I'm a little worried that maybe its "different" then the other Verizon Note 3's and I could brick the device... yet I'd like to try since I am stuck with stock 4.3 and REALLY REALLY want a Google play edition type ROM on my device, something that is totaly Vanilla (GOD Verion has a ton of crapware) with some pen features of course

The google play store has NOTHING good for IR remote apps, but I can live without that... I can't live without using my sPEN... anyway if someone with more knowhow can check these numbers and get back to me that would be AWESOME I'd like to do this right away...
maybe a link or two would be awesome if its a standard Note 3 I'm not asking for a step by step here if its not needed...

I would bet, if you're at a Verizon company store...the dude in the back could flash it for you. Or you could flash it yourself via Odin or Kies. But first, I would simply try a factory reset on it.

I work for an inderect premium retailer and I'm the guy who flahses phones but even kies is not showing an update... That's why I wanted someone with the same phone to check the numbers and see if they differ... Mainly for root and custom ROM and we all know kies and Verizon software won't do that... I can follow one of the many posts on this site to do all this but I'm a bit scared that my phone is different in some way...

Other than the firmware/ROM it's not different. Use Odin to flash to a a release ROM but NOT to the latest NJ6. I would suggest NC4 and then use Towelroot to root.
As usual, it is up to YOU what you do to your phone and if anything goes wrong..no one but you is responsible.

I thought it needed safe strap or some junk (I haven't really got into it since I didn't know if it was OK) I'm looking for a google play edition ROM, isn't my boot loader locked? Sorry I'm at work so I haven't checked the link yet... I'm sorry if these questions are answered in the link...

Yes, the bootloader is locked. No, you can't use Safestrap until you're rooted. You shouldn't root until you get on a stock release ROM...again, NC4 is your best bet.

If your afraid of bricking learn how to get out of a brick and all recovery info beforehand if that's too much of a hassle don't bother. Honestly you can't get 5.0 or 4.4.4. On note 3 there are no such roms. 4.4.4 is said to be unrootable. There are good vanilla roms but do research beforehand because with you saying you think it needs safe strap tells us you aren't 100 percent sure with what your doing. Yes you need busy box and safe strap and towel root is your easiest way to root and safest. Your numbers are the same don't know why you would think there not? Just be careful. You don't need a paperweight just because you want stock android.

Like I said I've done this a bunch of times, but I was asking since my firmware was A BETA unit and I wanted to make sure it was compatible with the same methods shown on this site. When I wrote this I did not read anything about the Note 3 yet and thats where the safe strap question came from... I wasnt going to read all the forms on it to find out I needed something totally different in the way of rooting or files.
As for making it a paperweight YES it would be a BETTER paperweight then full of Verizon Bloatware I refuse to use a phone with verizon software on it since I do work for Verizon and I have seen what this software is really for. Thanks for the concern but its SUPER easy, I ask all the questions so I don't get hit with anything later I did not plan on, I have never bricked a device yet, not even a soft brick... and I don't plan to.

not yet... I cant get a clear method to install this update... my device is not only on the beta firmware verizon and Samsung don't recognize my phone as a phone....

super easy to update it if you just want that like I do... go to http://www.sammobile.com/ and join (its free) then just enter the model then follow instructions... only do that if you just want the update and no root... if you're looking for root then follow that post the guy did up a few posts;...

I have this phone since last September and really regret that I bought it. Even though it looks like and feels like a normal 9505 or 9500 model, due to its specifications you can not use any custom rom of more common variants. (No Cyanogen, No Miui, No any other well known custom rom). Do not even try flashing 9505 or 9500 roms, I managed to soft brick my phone already with them.
There is almost zero support for this product in forums or if there is any it is in Korean language. The only custom rom I came across is TeamLeader rom, which is a cleaner stock rom practically, getting rid of Samsung's bloatware, but nothing special, same user experience.

IIRC the SHV-E300 is the Galaxy S4 LTE-A and more or less the same device as the ks01lte. So take a look in the i9506 section, there you will find some custom ROMs for your phone, some already LP-based.
I recommend arters 97's CM12, he is doing a great job on this phone.

I am feeling the same regret my friend i dont think this phone is going to get an official Lollipop update either
why do they make so much devices they can't give support to, or some phones are just labs rats experiments
And yeah thanks for the info, i m not going to flash any other Rom.... yet but i m getting really frustrated :silly:

Have you seen this thread? The official Lollipop-ROM for S4 LTE-A has begun to roll out, did you check if it works with your SHV-E300L?

yeah man i know that and SHV-e300l and i9506 have some notable differences like the chips (Exynos and Qualcomm) it would definetly brick my device

don't install any custom rom for now if you want everything in working order.
and If u want to upgrade to lollipop, just download firmware of another s4 with same configuration from sammobile.com
I think yours is Korean and it will not get 5.0

there are some reports of bricked devices after installing Firmware of another S4, suppose i bricked my device would i be able to get it working again if i installed the stock ROM again i mean can u flash a bricked device?

HI i already tried that rom. im using galaxy s4 SHV E300L..
flash via odin. the rom works well. it wont brick the device because i checked first the file. it does not have modem.bin so the device wont get problem on imei..
i just dont like the chinese characters at the top notification located in the date

That is awesome! are there any bugs? wifi games all well? good to know it is a working rom i will flash it now and hey tell me how to check if the file is ok to go and not corrupted or something

[Q] Installing Another country on my note 4 and few questions!

Hi, im tired of waiting for Lollipop on my note 4, i have N910HXXU1ANK5 and i was thinking about flashing the other country's firmware, how much is the risk of bricking my device? i pad 800$ for this and im extremely scared! its so much compared to my previous nexus 4 on my old nexus 4 is was like fastboot unlock and tada! its a bit harder in here and i bricked my old n7000 so i rather be careful this time!
Generally how much is the risk of bricking a note 4! what could cause it! i know in general its wrong firmware but like the old n7000 factory reset on ics would kill it and which it did is there anything special like that with the note 4? just be sure too check rom versions?
and what should i do to install 910C on my 910H? what happens if i do something wrong?(soft or hardbrick?)
sorry if this thread sounds stupid, but im going to be 100% sure before i do this as i paid my whole life savings on this

From my understanding of the 910h, it is a 3g unlocked note 4. What service are you currently running it through? I just got the lollipop update from verizon a couple of days ago. Before the update came out I got a taste of what lollipop would be like by switching my runtime in the developer options. After the update there isn't too much of a difference. Just color scheme of messaging and some animated pointer click detection and top and bottom wave animation on screen when fully at the top or bottom while scrolling. If you want to get the same performance with your apps as lollipop is running right now, simply go to developer options in your settings, then select runtime, then change from dalvik to ART. Then you won't have to worry about bricking your phone at all.

i just wanted too see battery and other stuff but ok, i'll wait! but just for knowadge, if i wanted to do that, how much is the risk? i may install sweet rom etc when a new version of android comes(im keeping it for years! until phones use aluminium batteries )
im rooting it anyway! i rather also install TWRP in case anything goes wrong or for backup!

Root for my phone isn't available yet. Comes stock with knox. There's actually a bounty for a verizon and at&t root method right now, so I'm going to have to hook mine up to my Linux based computer and see what I can do. The biggest risk is of course bricking your device by installing another country. I've been rooting devices since froyo was being developed. I've bricked and unbricked a few of my own devices. Unbricking is usually not easy. Because your partition is more than likely specifically for 910h you'd have to repartition it for the 910c that you would want to install. Make sure to make a copy of the 910h partition before you start. Also copy all of the .rar, .tar, .md5 files that are on the device currently. Haven't done it for about a year myself, but if I remember correctly there are 5-7 of them. One for the modem, etc.

Lets start, its too hard on todays day to brick a device, there are a lot more work around, its not 2011 anymore, the only thing u need to be able to do right is READING, without insulting nobody if you can read then your fine, reading and following all steps on this forum is a key. You can flash anything u want on ur phone WHILE ITS MADE SPECIFICALLY FOR YOUR N910x MODEL, if ur not rooted yet, go and root it, it takes 2 minutes, remember the key READING, then you can make ur own research by reading the Development section, after u have done rooting and flashing a custom recovery, most people use TWPR, then ur good to go. If you just want a stock experience, then go to sammobile website, search ur model number, and download the stock rom, this you will have to flash it using ODIN, but like a said, by READING, you have NOTHING to worry. Remember if something happens to ur device, this is just to have it in mind,
WHILE U CAN ACCESS DOWNLOAD MODE VIA VOLUME DOWN+HOME+POWER, YOU ARE SAFE MY FRIEND, GOOD LUCK

You can flash anything u want on ur phone WHILE ITS MADE SPECIFICALLY FOR YOUR N910x MODEL, if ur not rooted yet, go and root it, it takes 2 minutes, remember the key READING, then you can make ur own research by reading the Development section, after u have done rooting and flashing a custom recovery, most people use TWPR, then ur good to go. If you just want a stock experience, then go to sammobile website, search ur model number, and download the stock rom, this you will have to flash it using ODIN, but like a said, by READING, you have NOTHING to worry. Remember if something happens to ur device, this is just to have it in mind,

Thanks! Im rooting tomarrow, there is no mention of rom version so i assume it is for all 910H firmwares!

I am sorry if I missed this somewere, but I just got my Galaxy Edge 7 Plus. I see were to root it, but I am not seeing were we are flashing (odin) a custom recovery ?? Are they any Edge 7 TWRP recoveries yet ?? and if so, were are the instructions.

If you have the t-mobile version twrp doesn't work

Can you please provide a link as to where you acquired it as well as the exact model of the device?
If it's Qualcomm, you're probably SOL.

Yeah, I don't believe that there is such a thing as S7 Edge Plus.
On an unrelated note, what rom are you using galaxyuser88? I don't recognize it from your signature.

There is no custom recovery. No TWRP. No custom kernels either. We install roms via Flashfire... of which... there is only one (so far) to flash.
No. You cannot install roms from other carriers (unless they are intended to be universal) or for other S7 devices.
No. There hasn't been any progress on changing any of the aforementioned.

Its a rom iam currently working on. Its using alot of note7 stuff that overdrive was working on before the whole fireball and recall. Unfortunatly i was hoping that me and overdrive could make something good for the s7, but he decided to leave sammy and get an lg v20. So iam trying to do it in the limited time i have between work and side jobs. Hopefully soon ill have a working rom..

Agreed, but right now i am having an issue with sys.ui . Iam trying to get it working without any sys.ui fc, i hate posting anything with those type of problems due to the fact that many user on here do nothing but complain about fc even if you tell them that doing this or that will cause an fc and not to do it. We went thru this on the note 7 rom we started to work on.

And if you don't have much free time to work on it, it'll be too stressful to provide support for.

Maybe it would get posers to learn how to be ACTUAL power users, and fix stuff themselves.... Good learning tool!

Yeah that would be nice. But Some XDA user have gotten to the point that they want everything to work. Otherwise they complain and the most common response you get it. "Why is the dev posting something that is not working 100 %." , " Why doesn't this rom have this or that" or my favorite " I need this or that app in this rom to work. ( this is more towards being rooted and needing to have sammy pay or android pay working) ".

I need conformation on the s8 i am getting is good for rooting

From a day of searching and asking,i found out the best way to go for a samsung galaxy s8 for rooting is to get a exynos model (the ones that have a F instead of a U in the model number) and install twrp with magisk.It will trip safety net for an app called samsung pay but i dont think thats a real big deal if i am going to get a unlocked exynos model with a sim card of my choice.Any objections or is there something else i need to know?

Exynos is the right way. But is it worth rooting? I'm not sure. If you're into custom roms or clean Android, then go for something else, oneplus5 or something. I don't think S8 will ever get working Lineage or RR (aosp) roms.
Also, just look at how Samsung is acting. Oreo still in beta phase? Many other manufacturers already brought 8.0 on their devices. Also, I don't feel like flagship-owning customer. Look at upcoming A8 specifications! Nearly all the same... 4gb ram too! Meh.
S8 is the last one Samsung I got. Next maybe something Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 ^^

what if i just want free apps and emulators with full controll over the device? To be honest i dont know much about the custom rom stuff.Is that needed to be able to do as i mentioned in the first sentence?

I don't see the relation btw emulators and root. You can install apks without root, it's a security option.

You got the best choice. Would of gotten the plus however tho. Bigger battary. Root wise your golden. Custom stuff wise eh....made a,big spew about custom aosp linage rr roms but in short, just root and flash kingrom. V6 or v7 if you want an amazing experience and amazing battary life and if you want my list of debloated stuff shoot me a pm and ill get you one. I have 85% of Sammy stuff gone and most everything Google gone and other misc apps that eat battary gone.

If you want pirated productions as I call it you needs root and a few apps. I can't sit here publically and discuss it but you can Google or send someone a message. If you want help rooting I can help with that or just about anything else. Send me a message.
