Screen mirroring GT-I9060I share apps that need network with Wi-Fi only. Is possible? - Samsung Galaxy Grand Neo Plus Questions & Answers

Hi there,
I am able to do screen mirroring with a TV miracast and/or an android tv box when I share pictures or videos stored on my smartphone but I am not able for instance to do it with apps like Youtube or Amazon prime video that need network. At least I’m not with an official Samsung ROM or with rom LineageOS 13.
Being connected to network using only Wi-fi: for what I could test when tried to share with rom ‘LineageOS 13’, as the device uses ‘Wi-Fi direct’ feature, as the rom official, this option disables the Wi-Fi network connection and for that reason the sharing cannot happen, unless I had another option to be connected to network (3G/4G network), option that I want to avoid.
As you may know, other devices have this option available using only Wi-fi: I mean, doing screen mirroring with Youtube or Amazon prime video apps.
Do you know if this feature is something related with hardware or can be managed by software, for instance with another Rom version?
Please let me know if the question is not clear.
Thanks.

Anyone did the same question?

Sorry man Miracast/DLNA is a hardware feature so you cannot screen mirror.

Wi-Fi direct doesn't work with all devices

Some people have tested gs2 wifi direct with other wifi device without success.
It work only with other wifi direct certified device.
From the reference web site: "... Wi-Fi Direct-certified devices can form connections with nearly all the Wi-Fi CERTIFIED devices you and your friends already have..."

Why Samsung Wifi Direct is it limited?
sorry for my english
Same problem here, no way to make it work.
Not even one guru knows where is the problem? In the samsung's software or in the description of the wifi-direct site?
Tnx.
C'mon guys ..
Where are the settings for wifi direct
i'd really like to know how to use wifi direct too. the only hint at what to do is in a android forums post where they talk about kies air, but as far as i understand, and in practice on my device, kies air requires you to be connected to the same wifi network - i.e. it works like dlna, not wifi direct. when i go to wifi direct settings and try to scan, it never finds anything.
trying to connect to a network from the pc end using the details under "configure wifi direct" doesn't do anything ether.
please, if anybody has it working, let us know how you did it!

thankyou, but it doesn't work like that for me. the phone example was two wifi direct devices connecting (which i don't have) and the pc was ether wifi direct certified too or im doing something wrong. is there a special server client or something to install to enable wifi direct on a laptop? as i said, i have tried entering the same network details as are shown in the wifi direct settings manually, and tried waiting for ages since the guy in the video says it takes a while, but no luck so far.
Hey guys... The wifi-direct certifier said, that they got a galaxy s II with a fully working wifi direct. They cant explain why samsung limited this feature...
Samsung didnt make a statement yet.
I hope i can add the source tomorrow (read in on a popular online magazine)
Edit: Source
I guess you can translate it via google translate. Going to bed now

[Q] MK809 with 3G dongle and wifi tethering?

I have tried to search for an answer to this with no real success. I believe that it is possible to connect a USB 3G dongle such as Huawei E1750 to an MK809 such as Justop K9. Hopefully someone will be able to confirm that? Then I would like to know if it is possible to then share that 3G connection via wifi tethering to other devices.
Basically I'm trying to combine 3G modem and wifi router into a hdmi stick/dongle. If anyone has tried this I would be interested to hear their experience. If it is someting that is really not practical then I more than likely will give it a miss. I would need to use this as my "main" internet connection, although I wouldn't consider myself a "power user" I do stream youtube and online such as BBC iPlayer. I have had good experience with wifi tethering using my old HTC HD2 (flashed with android 4.0) and can get 4Mb connection speeds which allows me to stream no problem.
If this works well I would then be connecting a usb hard drive and using webdav server app to share the contents to my other devices.
I would appreciate any guidance! :good:
P.S. I notice that I'm not supposed to post questions in here, but I can see a few questions already within this section and it seems like the best place for this question to me. Mods, please move it if you need to.
I think it could be done as long as the router has a connection but just a bit of info, I watch YouTube quite a bit maybe 4-5 20/30min vids a day and in the past 7 days YouTube has used probably 12gig of data. Since everything is HD. I know a lot of dongles have data limits. IPlayer doesn't work great these devices for now you have to use the flash version and its a little buggy. Its best to get it from xbmc add on.
Oh and the 808 doesn't have tether not sure about the 809

Thanks for the reply.
It's a virgin media contract I'm looking at. Supposedly truly unlimited according to vm themselves and can be used to tether. I got my dad one and he uses it to tether his laptop and ubisurfer when away. It works very well when I've tried it myself.
Thanks for the tip about tethering on 808. I imagine this is just a software limitation? It was possibly never considered when the rom was built. I think there are Google play apps that will enable this on phones that didn't have it as an original option. I'm hoping it will work in a similar way.
Xbmc will be on my list. I assume it's possible to side load flash onto these things.
Can't answer your 3g question but just bought the mk809 justop k9 and it comes pre installed with flash. Have xbmc installed and it works brilliantly with streaming from my server, an app called tvcatchup and all the usual on demand add ons.

yes that would be interesting. I know that a lot of usb devices are supported. tried a webcam on it. Works perfect in combination with skype. for wath I read. its also possible to use a usb to lan adapter. maybe an option for the poor reception.
but a 3g dongle. got to see that.

Thanks for that. It is nice to hear a positive review about the Justop K9 as I was considering one anyway. This project might just save me some money having to buy other equipment. Would you be able to try whether you can install one of the free non root wifi tether apps from the play store? Obviously there would be no internet connection, but if you can establish a wifi hotspot and connect a phone to it then it's a good sign.
As for the USB to ethernet, I have a couple of those connectors spare. I'm aware you can use them on various android devices to give them an internet connection, but I don't know whether the reverse is true? Is it possible to share a 3G connection to the USB, and via the ethernet connection to a separate wifi router for instance? I can't find a good answer to that. I'm gonna have a play with my TF700 and see what I can accomplish!
Regards,
John
No need to install an app, android 4 onwards supports wifi tethering natively. Just needed to go into the 'more' menu and set up from there. Managed to connect easily with my Sony Tablet but, as you say, couldn't browse as the stick wifi was being used to tether.
Spoke too soon on the on demand stuff, seems itv player, 4od and 5od have been messing around with their encryption so the xbmc add ons have stopped working, I'm sure the devs are working on it. Iplayer add on still works and there is a work around using firefox anyway.
Can't help with your other query I'm afraid, sorry.

connecting to two networks

Hello,
I have an ultrasound device, which connects with wifi through android app with my samsung galaxy tab 4 10.1 and shows real time image.
I want to stream that real time video with my tablet, but wifi is already occupied by ultrasound device. Is it possible to connect to two wifi networks at the same time. If not do you have any solutions? Maybe its possible to use 3g data to stream video online when you are connected to wifi. Are there any root programs that allow that?
Thank you for your answers in advance.

i have attached a list of supported usb wifi dongles. the support isnt out of the box, but its no problem to make a kernel module, just tell me which dongle you want to use.
Thanks, but I am not sure how usb wifi dongle is going to help? Could you please explain? Because the ultrasound device connects to tablet and occupies its wifi connection and the tablet is left without ability to connect to the internet and stream live ultrasound image.
If i had wifi dongle would i connect it to the pc or tablet? Is wifi dongle going to allow to connect to two different wifi on my tablet?
Sorry if I misunderstood you I am not really a tech guy.

Can't use cellular data while connect to local only WiFi (GoPro)

Hi, I would like to use my S8 to livestream my gopro (with a self made app based on FFmpeg), for that I need to be connected to the GoPro stream via WiFi and I need to use my cellular data (LTE) to send it to a streaming server.
In my test I noticed this phone is unable to keep both connection open at the same time, it was not the case on my previous LG G4, I was also able to test on a nexus 5X where it worked successfully, so I blame the samsung software (PS: I just did an update, didn't change anything).
I tried every options (and combination possible), keep cell data, agressive wifi/cell, both in dev' settings, also smart wifi (agressive or not) in regular settings... And it didn't change anything (the smart thing only either fully disable the wifi connection to local only wifi or connects fully to it and awaits internet connection).
I found this thread on samsung forum https://us.community.samsung.com/t5...internet-while-connected-to-GoPro/td-p/185875 with no answer...
Do you guys have any solution?
Quick edit: I did try to use "Download booster" thing but it doesn't help, it seems the phone is still using the wifi for DNS, I tried with and without smart switch thing... They really didn't think about people using WiFi without internet connection voluntary??
Thanks
same problem here, i don' t know how to fix it. you can share your code? with other guys we are trying to do a solution to live stream gopro on android , if you want i'll link it to you
It cannot be done as we cannot change our IP, Default Gateway, or Subnet on our WiFi.
With iOS you can, thus why iOS users can use the GoPro and LTE simultaneously.
Enjoy.

Wi-Fi Sharing (Like Samsung)

Coming from Sammy that has offered a "Wi-Fi" sharing" feature for years I am really missing it on my OnePlus.
This feature allows you to keep your WiFi AND HotSpot on at the same time. It allows you to connect you Samsung to the hotels WiFi and then connect other devices (such as Chromecast) to your WiFi sharing Samsung phone that is using the Hotels WiFi and not your mobile data.
Does anyone know of a way to get this working on the phone? I have looked on the playstore but only found ones that work for a PCs.
Thaanks

Hey so it ends up the OnePlus actually has that already. Go to developer options and go to networking and you'll see WiFi coverage extend feature.

. Did you get it to work? I enabled this feature but as soon as I turn on Hotspot it turns off my WiFi. If I turn WiFi back on, it kills hotspot. . Maybe I am missing something?
Same here. After enabling that extend option, turning on hotspot still kills wifi.
Just curious... If your phone is on WiFi.. Why would you need hotspot? Why not just put the 2nd device on the same WiFi your phone is on...

it's for traveling purposes it's not so easy to connect a Chromecast to a hotel Wi-Fi. It's very nice to have your phone be your access point for all of your devices like your computer your Chromecast Etc. and especially with the Chromecast since it really isn't possible to do the login page on a Chromecast. With Samsung's Wi-Fi share feature it works seamlessly the Chromecast connect to the Samsung hotspot while Samsung is connected to the hotel's Wi-Fi and I can control all of the Chromecast casting right from Samsung
