Reduce Unlock Bootloader time to 60 hours for Redmi note 6 Pro - Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro Guides, News, & Discussion

Hello, everyone
I decide to share the experience how I unlock the bootloader in 60 hours.
At first my unlock time was 720 hours when my phone was installed with MIUI 9. After I manually updated to Miui 10, I synced with the cloud and bound account to my redmi note 6 pro again, tried to unlock and the unlock time reduced to 60 hours. Now I have successfully unlocked my device.
Hope this helps.

Didn't work for me, downloaded the 10.0.4.0 as posted; waiting time just updated for the past hours but not reduced much (from initial 360)

Tried, but didn't work.

Didn't work for me.

Android 4.4.4 KitKat update received in unlocked (Non-US) Moto X

I received the Android 4.4.4 Kitkat update OTA last Friday for my non-US Unlocked MotoX. It is ~148 MB and downloads in the background. During installation the phoen will restart and takes 5-7 minutes to complete the update. No data or settings are lost.
I am in Dubai (UAE) and the phone was bought here.
The details are in the attached screenshot.
What's New (that I noticed):
1. New dialer and Phone app
2. Can capture still photos while shooting a video
3. HDR photos are processed faster
4. Camera quality is relatively better
Have faced no problems since the update. Batter life over WiFi/4G is decent and lasts the day. I plugged it out at 8 am and at 11 pm I still had 20% juice left with always-on push email, Twitter and WhatsApp. Taken a few photos and videos too and of course, did what a phone is supposed to do. Make phone calls.
Admin, please delete this thread. Another thread already exists for 4.4.4 update rollouts. Sorry, I didn't notice that.

Seeing about 1 hour SoT difference between encrypted and non encrypted.

So I ran both variations for about 3 weeks each., completely stock with locked boot loader where it force encrypts the phone and unlocked with force encryption off.
Both completely stock and same apps and same permissions.
I'm seeing about 1 or more of SoT time difference between the two. The latter, force encryption off, having about 3.5 - 4.5 hours SoT. And completely stock about 2.5 to 3.5 SoT
Anyone else seeing this much difference?
With force encryption off, I regularly got 4 hours of SoT. Whereas in completely stock form I rarely saw 3.5 hours of screen on time

Just picked mine up today. Would love to know if there is that big of a difference.
I might have to try that. How do you turn encryption off? Does it require an unlocked boot loader or root access? I don't want to put my phone in a state where my warranty/insurance would be void but I like the idea of improved battery life.

You need to be unlocked and format data to decrypt.
Also you need a modified kernel to disable forced encryption.

That's too bad. I guess I'll just deal with my battery life as is.

I started out unencrypted and accidentally encrypted again when flashing the latest build. It does not feel to me that I have that much less SOT though.
What is your usage pattern? Also, how dit you turn force encrypt off? Just a modified boot image or different kernel altogether?
As I understand it by this post.

force encryption needs to be disabled in order to even put custom recovery?.. I;ll have to check again when I'm back at work (where I leave my USB A to C cable) but even using the skipsoft tool kit. it's the same way. No custom kernel is needed.

Just modified boot image. No customer kernel. I tried Elemental and found zero difference between stock.
I don't play any games.
- lots of emails and texts sending over picture/multi media.
- facebook and News reading (min 2 hours)
-lots of pictures and video (my 2years old son)
-lots of google play music streaming (min 2 hours a day)
-on LTE most of the day. (i don't connect to work WIFI)
-lots of "OK google" searches

Did you actually wipe your userdata partition though?
Just modifying the boot image does not decrypt your phone.

Is this the guide you followed?
It doesn't seem to be actual anymore. We're on a different build now.
If you use the latest twrp you don't need to decrypt anymore (to use the custom recovery fully).
Best bookmark Heisenberg's guide to root/unlock/flash. It's on this forum somewhere.
I took the decrypt option using skipsoft tool kit on 6.0.1. I believe it gives you option to pick, and I picked the decrypt route. And yes I did have to wipe user partition.

Probably just the clean install. Google restore seems to be causing issues for some people and a factory reset without restore can fix them.
after one hour?

Redmi 3S Reboots while using GPS and DATA

Hello everyone!
I have a China version Redmi 3S prime (3/32GB). Bought it on Gearbest with vendor ROM. Then I flashed China EN MIUI ROM and unlocked bootloader. After that I installed MIUI from Xiaomi.EU, installed TWRP and rooted the device. Everything was running great! Phone was fast and stable, battery lasted two days with intense use (about 8h of SOT) and running 2 SIMs.
All in all a great little cracker. Now for this holiday season I needed to use GPS and that's when I started to notice problems with the Redmi 3S. Basically, everytime I use GPS with DATA CONNECTION the phone will reboot itself after a few minutes of usage, sometimes after 1 minute and sometimes after 20 minutes. I did several tests and came up to the conclusion that this only happens when I use GPS with a data connection (3G or 4G the result is the same). If I use GPS with offline maps (and data connection off) there are no reboots whatsoever. If I use GPS with online maps (Gmaps or Waze), but connected on a wifi hotspot (my wife's phone) there are no reboots as well.
Thinking it could be something from Xiaomi.eu I reverted back to the global stable EN MIUI version without TWRP and without ROOT and ran the same tests, results were exactly the same!
Has this happened to anyone else? Is this a hardware issue? Shipping the phone back to China will probably make it disapper along the way
I am thinking about flashing a CM to see if it behaves the same but don't wanna go through that hassle if most probably is an HW issue

Sudden slowdowns on Oreo

Hello guys I've updated to Oreo three days ago now I'm expecting sudden slowdows and the camera (no matter where) starts up really slowly. I'm rooted with magisk 15.1 and I have tree modules installed. Could magisk be the cause? Thanks for help
My 2 cents here — run Androbench and check the read and write speed.
Bought my A1 about 2 weeks, Oreo + March update, with very light use as it’s my backup phone.
All of sudden, it became extremely slow one day and came across “process system isn’t responding” error from time to time.
Tried factory reset, worked for be first time but slowed down again on the following day. Any following resets, including flash it back to Nougat, Oreo+January update and Oreo + April update, none helped.
While it’s still slow as a shxt, I managed to run Androbench and can see the read/write is terrible - only 50ish mb/s. I think that’s the culprit.
Have contacted seller and hope they can exchange it for me.

Regret my decision of buying my first Xiaomi phone – Redmi Note 6 Pro :(

Hi All, I have purchased a Mi phone for the first time ever – the Redmi Note 6 pro. The hardware specs are amazing and so is the quality of the hardware, but the MIUI is just too pathetic.
I was earlier using a Moto G4 plus running on Android Nougat 7. I wonder why anyone has to build a skin above Android, which runs so well!
I feel I have actually been downgraded by switching to Redmi Note 6 instead of getting an upgrade! Basic functions as listed below are missing in MIUI 10 compared to my good old G4 Plus:
1. Does not have a section for frequently called contacts (have to save nos. on speed dial and remember them like old days)
2. Not able to easily block calls – in my G4 plus, I could simply long press the contact and block it, now I have to go to settings and block contact… such a long process
3. Above blocking of contacts is complicated for SMS also unlike my G4 plus
4. There is no cast icon (screen mirroring) in the notification slider – have to go in to settings to do so
5. Not able to set separate ringtones for each app like GMail, my office email, etc (this could be done in MIUI 9 – checked on my friend’s Redmi Note 4)
6. My employer provides me VMWare boxer as the enterprise email client, it vibrates when new email arrives but does not play notification sound. Furthermore, although the app allows changing the ringtone, on trying to do so the phone nothing happens 
7. Notification icons are not appearing on the top left corner of the screen
8. Does not display no internet on wifi, phone just automatically switches to Data – but I cannot keep checking whether my phone is on wifi or data all the time (in G4 plus, it used to indicate no internet on wifi with an exclamation symbol on the wifi icon in the notification bar)
9. Quick charge 3.0 takes 2 hours to charge the phone to 100%. The G4 plus, although with a smaller battery of 3000mAH used to charge in approximately 50 mins, why should 1000mAH more take almost 1 hour more?
10. Vodafone VoLTE is not support on this latest device.
In the last week I have spent hours browsing forums understanding how to fix issues or find alternative ways to work out. I never had to do so for my G4 plus.
I really regret the decision of buying a Xiaomi device and I wish I could go into the past and revert my decision and would have rather brought Nokia 6.1 puls, Moto One power or the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1… wonder why I brought the Redmi note 6 pro…
The forums have so many users who are very helpful and thanks to them I am able to use the phone. But, why should I browse forums for such basic issues after investing so much money in a new phone which was supposed to be an upgrade?
Since I have criticized the phone so much, I would also like to mention the reasons I brought this phone and the advantages of this phone over my G4 plus:
1. Significantly better camera, actually excellent camera
2. Almost full view screen with a good screen size
3. Hardware is good hence the phone is faster
4. Very good battery life
These are all in terms of hardware, I wish the software was robust as well. I can’t even root the phone or use custom roms as my enterprise apps will not work them. So, now I am stuck with this phone hoping that someday updates will resolve the basic issues I need….
keep going on motorola.
waiy for a few days.. maybe stable GSI starts to roll and u can flash custom roms
Well that´s your opinion and I respect it. But you are mentioning issues related to MIUI and not exactly exclusives to this device. I think you should have done a little research on MIUI to know if you´ll like it before.
Also you can wait for the development of custom ROMs with closer experience to pure Android .

Yes I agree with you I have issues with MIUI.... I did check the MIUI 9 on my friends phone before buying this device... MIUI 9 was much better... I feel more frustrated because the enterprise apps provided by my employer do not work on rooted devices and customer ROMs, so I am stuck!

Have you tried Magisk (systemless root) and Magisk hide per app settings?
Quick Charge
Quick Charge 3.0 is working fast for me, try changing the charging with the 12v/1.5A. My redmi note 6 pro charges in less than 1:30hrs.
1. Download and use the Google Phone App (working on my Pocophone, should work on this phone too):
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-google-dialer-t3557412
2. Download the Google Contacts app from the play store.
3. Use Android Messages
4.-6. Sorry I can't help with these
7. Sadly, you need root to fix this. If you're willing to root, try this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-6-pro/themes/mod-xiaomi-eu-rom-miui-10-t3869257
8. Can't help, sorry.
9. Are you using the included charger? I read that the included charger only supports 10W, not full QC 3.0 speeds. You need to buy a separate QC 3.0 charger if you don't have one.
10. Can't help.
I hope this helps a bit! I had some issues with MIUI on my Pocophone too, but doing the above made the experience great for me, and now I am enjoying MIUI overall!
4- install quick settings app from playstore.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.simonesestito.ntiles
Enable toggles you want inside app.. Then You can find them in more option in quick setting area.

Install a custom ROM like Pixel Experience, but don't root that rom, no problem arise with your enterprise apps. (If you enterprise apps Pixel Experience ROM as a custom ROM, then you can try OxygenOS port, it will definitely won't get detected as a custom ROM)
Install Custom ROM like Havoc OS or Superior OS. Will do the job for sure.. and my phone takes around 1 hour and 35 mins to fully charge from 0 to 100% , don't know what kind of charger you are using. i am using aukey QC 3.0 charger.

Hello,
Thanks a lot for your help... I have also been searching for workarounds for quite sometime..
For 1. Did install google phone but sadly that does not display call log dont know for what reason - so I have created contact shortcuts on my home screen
2,3 Did as u suggested thanks again!
4 - no solution
5,6 - have rolled back to MIUI 9.6 wherein there are inbuilt options to set separate ringtones for all apps and my enterprise apps are also playing notifications correctly - alternatively u can also use the app notification manager pro
7. If u use latest MIUI 10, u can see notification icons for few seconds on unlocking ur screen - cant fix this as now I m on MIUI 9.6
8. will work only if u scroll down notification bar (not a good option though) - does show the exclamation mark when wifi is not working
9. I have a QC 3.0 charger which takes 2 hrs to fully charge the phone fully... cant do anything about this
10. VoLTE is now working - i also raised a complaint with vodafone to sort this out
I have realised that MIUI 9,6 was much stabler and rolled back to it... so the phone is much better now compared to MIUI 10

Buy this Charger for Quick Charge it supports Quick Charge 3.0 support with 24 Months warranty, I am using it from 2 years. It is the best charger. Price is a bit high from other charger as it is imported, but quality is definitely good. Link:
