Huawei Nova 3i Earpiece/Headset Volume Low. - Huawei Nova 3i Questions & Answers

Hey guys! I recently shifted from Samsung Galaxy S5 to Huawei Nova 3i. I find the earpiece/ headset volume of Nova 3i low according to my liking. I am having problems hearing calls outdoors in traffic.
Is there any way to increase the earpiece/ headset volume through root?
I read in some other forums there is a workaround but I am not sure about the file names (in which there are settings for earpiece/headset volume) for Huawei Nova 3i.
I searched different forums but couldn't find a feasible answer.
Also will Kingroot do the job? I am new and have absolutely no experience with rooting etc. Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks.

Sorry for my bad English. Actually Nova 3i gives you great volume on earpiece. Just use quality earpiece.
Stock one is not a good one, so just throw that. Use Remax quality earpiece. It'll give you great sound quality.
Guess what, I'm using Remax 610D. Its a very cheap earphone with awesome sound quality.

No, I am talking about earpiece, not earphones or headphones.

For music I have BeatsX. But when I am outdoors I can't hear to calls properly because the earpiece volume is a bit low.

How you guys find the audio quality of the phone?

I'm pretty curious to know since GSMArena lambasted the audio output of the device when playing via headphones.
How do you guys find the quality? Acceptable?
I find it to be pretty good, even with the earphones that came with it.

How about the speaker where we listen to other people when we are on a call?
And other people hear you well?
People on call sound very clear, and I haven't had any complaints from people while I'm talking to them.
sound quality is fine i have no complaints or issues reported from people i have called or have called me speaker phone is good no issues there unless the volume is all the way up it will distort but that is the same for most phones i beleive
i also have it paired with the sexii SE HBH is800 and have no issues
PS im loving the phone
Tough choice... I wish the screen is 4inch thou. The price point is ideal for an early adopter set.
Just want to add my two bits:
The phone call audio quality is actually very good. I had the Milestone (Droid) before and this is better. The audio quality through headphones is also good.
Where it isn't so good is for speakerphone. I don't use that very often, but if you listen to music out loud all the time, this probably isn't the phone for you (get a Surround!).
P.S. I am also in love with my phone!

Commander Data one question, i dont listen to music that much, but now and then i like too. Do you mean the speakerphone is bad quality or low volume?
I'm also concerned because i use a lot of calls on speakerphone... What are your opinions?
Thanks in advance!

It's certainly manageable. I just had a 15 minute conversation on speakerphone and the other person seemed to be able to hear me fine and I could hear them fine, it's just not excellent. I came from the Milestone, which has a superb speaker. I would say the speaker on the LG is probably half the size so it really comes down to volume. If you crank it, it gets fairly distorted (especially on calls), but at medium volume there is no distortion and you can hear it fine. In other words, it is not a selling feature on the phone, but not a detractor (I had a Blackberry before this and it wasn't as good on speakerphone). Personally, the LG's superior built quality all around is more than enough to make up for a middle of the road speaker. I think gsmarena complained about the speaker because the rest of the phone is truly at premium class and they would have liked to have seen the speaker at the premium level too.
Edit: I should note that the conversation I had on speakerphone had two other people listening in with me and they heard fine.
Thanks Commander

[Q] How is the audio quality with headphones?

Hi,
can anybody say anything about the audio quality with decent headphones? I have pretty good Shure headphones, which don't work very well with my current phone, which is one of the reasons I consider buying the U8800. I'd change my mind if I knew the quality was bad.
So, how are the quality overall and how loud does it get (I usually don't listen very loudly).
Thanks!
I can't make comaparisons with other smartphones and in the month I have had the IDEOS X5 I find the sound quality pretty good through the headphones.
I've used different headphones that I have lying around. All were better than the headphones that came with the phone.
At home I use an old Koss full padded headphones that I normally use on the PC or when watching TV late at night. (It has a very long cable). I find the qality pretty good, warm bass without it being too punchy.
I also bought a set of cheap (AUD$3.50) stereo headphones from e-bay. The sound was crisp, perhaps a little too much treble but you can balance it out depending on the music app you use.
I recently bought a Sony Bluetooth stereo MW600 headset which work nicely with the IDEOS X5 using the stock music player. Sound is clear and well balanced.
Neither of these are very loud but I've had it turn it down a little depending on the outside noise level.
Having said all that there is a huge difference to sound quality depending on the type of bit rate used on the MP3's. The higher the bit rate the better the sound quality and volume...but I think that goes without saying but music listeners possibly don't allow for the quality of the re-encoding.
AND...the quality of audio is about 100 x better than through the speakers
The sound quality is bad. The bass is good but it also "spreads" out and muffles other sounds so it all sounds hazy. My PC/cowon I7 does not suffer from this.
The headphones I use daily are IE7's. Shure SE420 also sounded hazy with U8800. Tested with FLAC and MP3's with similar results on both.
Thanks for your answers.
Varatesh: Considering what high quality earphones you use, I guess your expectations might be somewhat higher than mine.
Sadly I don't know own anybody withe an U8800 so I can't test the audio quality and it's rarely tested in reviews, so no "objective" info there.

I don't now if I help w/ my case:
I only use the U8800 heaphones/mic and I must not change because the pinout is different (begining by the point):
Sound.L/Sound.R/Mic/Ground.
The others like Samsung, LG, etc. the pinout is:
Sound.L/Sound.R/Ground/Mic.
If we chage it the sound is bad because it return by Mic, not by ground. And the Mic also work bad.
That's interesting, ValenteL. So that means it would be possible to solder an adapter? It's just a matter of switching two channels.

Helo
It's possible. For music only, no problem, I use one w/ 3 contacts.
W/ Mic I encountered only one same the U8800, is the ZTE Blade one.
Cumps.
Using ideos x5 + poweramp (it uses ffmpeg's codecs = better quality than the stock android codecs) + sony mw600 = eargasm.
Deep bass, rich high's and great fidelity, even on low bit rate HEAAC files. Although one thing to note, i had problems and dropouts using by bluetooth handset over a2dp with the stock froyo roms. That problem vanished as soon as i moved to the 2.3.5 roms floating around here (My personal favorite is MIUI and i'm waiting for an official cm7 nightly )
I'm not an audiophile or something - i wouldn't use my smartphone for music if i was one - but for the price tag and the hardware we get, music quality is superb, especially compared to the crappy sound output my previous htc wildfire had.

Sound is normal but you always can hear empty noise..the current noise.. there is no silence when there is no audio (yes it shuts down audio after 5secs of no audio) but it always have noise if you listen at more then 25% of volume then you will not hear it but if you listen at night you can clearly hear it.

I agree with this. It's very apparent when listening to audiobooks, not a big problem with music though.
I can confirm the "current" noise too....

OK, Great tip. Xaomi phones are great, no doubt but am yet to try one.
I wish stereo speakers. But 0 comments about this.
probably it will have like htc( bottom speaker in tandem with the ear speaker, this has been the case for mi6 and mix 2s)
I expect speakers to be good, no Headphone-Jack = more space for speakers.
Mi8 speaker is mono
I will pass
No buy
1. Source?
2. Mono can Sound good also.

Sorry but this information not rt
It has only bottom speaker
I tried it
The term dual speaker is coined because there is actually two speaker grills at the bottom much like one plus one. But if it have stereo speakers or mono speaker is unknown. The other speaker grill might be just a vent.
Mono-Speaker confirmed (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3H_-zbnTEC8 from minute 10 [german]). Seems to have good quality tho.
Second grill is for microphone.

Two grill at the bottom area is more as aesthetic design. It consist one speaker and the other one is microphone. So it is mono speaker. I use stereo speaker on google pixel 2xl but not that much different though... I guess Mi 8 still has good quality speaker even in mono.
I just got my mi 8 and compared to the Samsung Note 4 I've been using the past couple of years.. it's definitely a downgrade. Sound isn't as clear and it tends to go silent (?) at times.

YOU JUST SAYING IS VERY BAD ?
I SEE THE GERMAN REVIEW IS VERY NICE MONO SOUND FOR THIS PRICE OF PHONE
It's not, it's not that bad like the OP6 but some 100-200$ devices are much better.
Louder than Mi6 but it's trash for a >350€ device.
i'll come back to give my comment when i got my phone next week
It is on the low side. Can't hear if it's noisy like at a train station. Wonder if there is an app that will increase the volume.
After a month with this phone and tried some roms, this speaker is, to put it mildly, quite bad. As someone said, 'flagship my ass..'.
Ring call distorts, volume is low.. and equalization is **** like a bad radio.
I found a way to make it sound better. PowerAmp app has a good equaliser and I have managed to adjust for a quite better sound.
I have tried installing magisk Ainur and Viper'sAudio modules on Sphynx kernel to implement system-wide but I haven't managed to make them work.
I have succeeded installing VIPER4Android FX latest version 2.7.0.0 and it makes a difference over default speaker sound. It doesn't require root or custom kernel, and it installs as an apk file. it doesn't need custom recovery or Audio Modification Library.
Available for download at https://labs.xda-developers.com/store/app/com.pittvandewitt.viperfx
It needs root. Additionally I installed it as a system app as I feel it may need high privileges.
It has a useful 'Playback Gain Control' and 'Speaker Optimization' that upgrades the speaker sound, as well as headphones/usb.
I am happier with the sound now, and so far it doesn't distort ringtone or call quality. It improves on youtube and whatsapp sound.
Recommended.

Does not work as it needs root to install the driver. Tried to access settings but only has settings for notifications.

Hi guys, can someone provide a little review of the speakers? Curious how the perform. I see it has dual speakers, do they sound balanced? Bassy or tinny? How is sound effected when it's on charge, given the usb port is the speaker!
Cheers

i would like to know how loud sound in headphones is> huawei phones normally fall short in loudness in heaphones
I would like to know how is it compared to Samsung Galaxy S9+ or Note 9. Does it have Dolby Atmos settings?

Yes it does have Dolby Atmos as does the p20 and p20 pro.
I'm more interested in the headphone output where Huawei phones are normally dire.
But as it uses usb-C, the right sound quality should lie in the interested dac on the headphones, that also goes for usb to headphone jack, it lies in the dongles dac.
I use with the USB-C dongle and Sennheiser HD 4.30G, the sound is very powerful.
My Mate 20 Pro shows a crackling symptomatic whenever i do sth. that would emit a sound.
Even with the speaker disabled (vol. on 0)!
How-To:
1) Get in a quiet location & Turn down the media volume to 0 (mute)
2) Open any audio playing app (Telegram, Whatsapp, Spotify, Youtube etc.)
3) Press your ear against the USB-C charging port (if you hear some faint whitenoise coming out of it, wait until its gone. If you dont hear anything continue with 4)
4) With the phone still muted perform an action that would trigger a sound from within the application (play video / music, or send a message)
5) You should hear an audible *POP* sound coming from the speakers.
// If you cant hear it try this:
A) Get an audio file between 50-100hz and play this after you completed steps 1-3
(I tried toggling mono sound too)
If you still didnt hear anything i need to RMA my unit :S
Expected behaviour:
- The audioIC should not power up if the volume is 0.
- No crackling on normal audio playback.
Kind regards
Although the speaker is inside the USB C Charging port, it's still outputting loud and clear noise. Definitely can distinguish if you're listening to a song and then you put in the charging cable, however it's one of those things where if you started the song with the charging cable plugged in, then you wouldn't notice a difference unless you were severely autistic.
Overall, very nice speakerphone but not perfect. Would have preferred the speaker grill.
Only just picked up the device today after letting family member use my p20 pro... Yup it's all clear and doesn't sound too tinny but only gripe is the volume feels like it's a bit low even at max.. quality is pretty good and on par with majority if not better In my opinion that is..

The stereo speakers of Oneplus 7 is just performing like a Oneplus 7 pro. I think there won't be any issues like call drop or reception connectivities.
I bought OnePlus 7 yesterday and its amazing. sound quality of this phone is too good as both sound driver is working well and louder.
Compared with 6t, you can feel the difference.
Speakers are great...
Fall just short of S10 and Xr speakers imo.
But loving the loudness.
Haven't gone above 50% volume yet.

Back of the phone vibrates.
Front speaker in the earpiece make my OnePlus 7 vibrate. Vibration is so much that it feels like an hardware issue. During phone call and also during music or video playback. Anyone facing same issue. Is it natural or did I received a faulty product.

I just watched some YouTube video and put the volume up and the earpiece speaker didn't vibrate. Damn it's loud as hell.[emoji24][emoji1787] Maybe eventually it will vibrate because it's so loud?

I have the same issue.. the loudspeaker on this phone is useless while making calls as the other party cannot hear me. It seems it is a software bug:
https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/speaker-phone-poor-mic-quality.1062469/
OP7 is not turning on the external microphones on the top and right-bottom of phone when on speakerphone and only keeps the left directional mic on as it is during regular calls. Strange that if you turn on sound recorder apps or any other calling apps (Duo, Whatsapp) the mics for the loud spaker work properly. OnePlus needs to fix this!
integrated sip calls in phone app at loudspeaker make mic stop working, OOS 10.0.0.1 and 10.0.0.2
Dear Oneplus 7 Users (not PRO and not T version) – pure Oneplus 7.
I would like to ask about your feeling of earpiece speaker. (especially call quality and loudness).
I have had many phones in my life but with Oneplus 7 my experience of earpiece speaker is quite bad.
I feel calls are not so loud and other issue is that I have to put earpiece speaker directly in front of my ear. Any small movement of phone strongly decrease call volume. It looks like earpiece in Oneplus 7 is very small or something is built very specific way in this phone because I haven’t meet similar issue in any phone that I have previous. I have real problem speaking "on street" to hear other side.
I would ask other people for their opinion.
