OnePlus 6T Face Unlock pattern loop - OnePlus 6T Questions & Answers

When trying to setup face unlock in the security settings I keep getting a loop of entering my pin/pattern (tried changing from pattern to pin, same result). Will we need to wait for a patch or update or is there a trick to fixing this loop? Thanks.

Having the same issues. Did you ever resolve this problem?

[Q] Unable to boot after encryption

Hi everyone,
I enabled the encryption on my unrooted unlocked G2. Once the encryption was done, it rebooted and asked for the pin to boot. In entered the pin but the phone keeps rebooting and asking for the pin again and again.
I have tried more than 20 times, sometimes it boots to android but it shows a warning sign in notification (backup account needed) and then reboots after a few seconds. I tried turning on/off but the same thing happens again.
Is there anyway I can get my data out of this mess before doing a factory reset? Maybe rooting it from download mode and mounting from recovery?
Thanks a lot!

CM 12.1 With Encryption = Must Format, Can't Unlock/decrypt

I was running CM 12.0 for a long time with encryption and no major issues, until recently I upgraded to 12.1, without formatting etc. Then I had this issue.. after the full boot, the phone reboots in a boot-loop at the pattern unlock screen. If I turned it off fully and restart, I would get to the SIM unlock screen, with the unlock dots showing below that, and after inputting the PIN it dissapears to a blank screen, where you can just pull the Dialer out, but with phone still not decrypted.
So I went into TWRP, pulled my data, fully formatted and started clean, installed 12.1 from scratch and used it for some days without any problems... until I turned encryption on, and after ~12 or so minutes (with the Android logo and some text saying it's encrypting etc).. I have exactly the same issue.
What's going on? Can I fix this without having to format all again?
Update: if I remove the SIM card it works, so maybe the issue is not directly related to the encryption.
Update2: the following steps seemed to resolve it, for now.. not sure what will happen on next reboot:
Remove SIM card
Access phone normally
Go to settings, Security, pattern unlock
Remove the lock. Then turn it on again (you'll need to draw the pattern once more)
Turn off.
Insert SIM back
~Working with some minor issues.

Pass phrase not required on reboot after update to 7.0

Finally got round to asking but I've noticed after updating to 7.0 that I no longer need to enter my encryption pass phrase to get the phone to startup.
It does require the pin to unlock the home screen but not to start up.
Is this a change in 7.0 doesn't seem like it would be as secure as requiring a pin to boot?

After 8.1 DP2 unable to unlock phone after restart

Hi All,
I installed DP2 today via OTA (fully stock, locked bootloader) on restart I have to enter my password to boot/unecrypt. When the phone is started I have to type in the password as fingerprint won't work after restarting.... at this point the screen goes blank and drops me back to the lock screen. I know it is the correct password as there is no error and it is the same password I booted with.
Is anyone else experiencing this? I think it will be a factory reset for me! (
Thanks Andi
I reset my phone and am very pleased that the google backup is so much more fully featured these days.
I think that the issue may have been caused by my companies MDM software as there was an alert / notification I could not read/action.
All working nicely on dp2 now

Help mi a1 asking pattern while booting

Help my mi a1 asking the authentication pattern/pin in the middle of booting instead of after finishing the booting like usually, its bothering me coz it make the boot twice longer
Disable the feature called secure start up in settings
deleted - I see duplicate thread now
first disable the screen lock to swipe/none under setting (security & setting), after doing first step again click on screen lock and select pattern, if its ask for secure boot clicks on NO. Now you successfully solved the problem.
