Unlock sensor kinda useless

I find unlock sensor kinda useless sometimes I don't. want to unlo k with sensor and I have to write the password, is there any way I can use sensor with unlock pattern? I like sensor but sometimes its better to use pattern.

Sometimes the fingerprint reader doesn't active when coming out of sleep on my phone. I have it set up to use a pattern. After you setup the reader go in to your security settings and just set a pattern. The next time your phone locks it will unlock with the sensor or the pattern.
I can see how it is a pain for some, for me it really helps I have so many things I used to keep in a secure folder now i can swipe my finger instead of key punching a strong password.

I had my fingerprint and 4 digit psswd setup, so I had to enable the pattern, then re-enable the finger print. Now it shows finger print at first, but if I slide to unlock, it shows the pattern. Hope that helps.

Wow rhis works

Yup, to get the pattern, you just have to enable pattern and then re-enable fingerprint sensor (enabling pattern will disable fingerprint). You'll end up with fingerprint or slide to unlock with pattern.
yee. i have fingerprint with gesture lock
pretty awesome.

Require pin to sign in after certain amount of time of inactivity

Is there a way I can set this? Like if I don't use my phone for an hour require a pin to unlock it instead of a fingerprint.
Hola
Simple I think. 2 areas you need to configure:
1. Settings -> Display -> Sleep
2. Settings -> Security -> Screen lock -> Automatic lock

Unless ZTE changed the lockscreen behavior from Marshmallow, the fingerprint scanner will always unlock the device. If you can disable the fingerprint scanner temporarily, I can work something out for you using Tasker. On the lock screen, look for the padlock logo (it might be a fingerprint) at the bottom center of the screen. Either tap it, or press and hold. You may or may not see a message appear (see the attached screenshot). Try to unlock the phone with your fingerprint and let me know if you're forced to type in the PIN.
Apps designated as Device Administrators are supposed to have the ability to lock the device and disable the fingerprint scanner. Nova Launcher, Secure Settings, and Tasker all have Device Administrator supported lock commands. On stock Android, this would disable the fingerprint scanner and require the PIN to be entered. On B29, I found that ZTE removed this behavior and gave the fingerprint scanner absolute authority to unlock the device. If this is still the case, I never figured out a way to completely lock the device.
FWIW I was forced to enter a password today, fingerprint did not work. I did not knowingly reboot. I too find this behavior very disturbing. I do not memorize my passwords as the are robust (long) my finger should suffice in all circumstances IMHO. I am wondering if I could get any kind of an answer from customer service at Axon....

Lock screen app

I really like the fingerprint sensor on the back of the phone. I have tried several of the lock screen apps. When I wake the phone up again, I have to enter the password. The fingerprint sensor doesn't work. Does anyone know an app that is compatible with the fingerprint sensor?
This one works and it's light.

There is a software also. its called fingerprint scanner tools it's available in Google Play Store installed it and try it can solve your problem and it makes the MI A1 lock and unlock through the fingerprint sensor only
Help
Dear mates I'm new on Xiaomi Mi A1 device and I have been using screen off app on Android 6 (HTC) to lock the screen to avoid using power button. But I've installed several apps on Mi A1 and no help so please anyone can help me with it would be a great pleasure. Thanks
any screen lock app will work fine on mia1 as i have used many. You need to grant device admin privel. and use screen off feature instead of lock immediately. If you use lock immediately setting it will ask for PIN for security reasons.

is it possible to use fingerprint for particular app even screen lock type is swipe

when applock with fringerprint for any app is enabled even if screenlock type is swipe, it used to work in Nougat (Android 7.0). But in oreo, applock with fringerprint for any app will work only if screen lock with fingerprint is enabled (No screenlock, no fringer print for other app). i mean i want
a) screenlock -only swipe no pin, pattern or fingerprint
b) want to protect only particular app (like galary, email, private mode etc ) with fingerprint.
when enabling screenlock from fingerprint to swipe it says to save the fingerprint data but same can not be used for other app & private mode in my S7.
Is there any solution for this problem?

Compatibility of 6T fingerprint sensor to unlock SafeInCloud Password Management App

I read some threads about using 6T fingerprint sensor to unlock some banking apps without any issues. However, how about password management app like SafeInCloud that supports to be unlocked by fingerprint sensor? Does the fingerprint sensor also being able to unlock SafeInCloud?
Actually, I am quite new to this new technology. When you about to unlock any App using the 6T fingerprint sensor, does it display the fingerprint image overlaying the original App display so that you can press your fingerprint on it? Would there be compatibility issues with some Apps?
Anyone can advise?

I use fingerprint login on SafeInCloud on 6T and and a few different banking apps that support fingerprint login and it works fine. You have to enable fingerprint authentication within the apps. The apps do display fingerprint image over the sensor.
I use Fingerprint in all Apps that provide FP authentication and it works flawlessly. in my Banking app, PayPal and playstore (that's the only app I use it with) the System Shows the FP indicator just like on the lockscreen, i can press it, unlock it, voila. No issues here.
