Best ROM with fully working bluetooth - Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo Questions & Answers

Hi everyone,
I installed LineageOS 15.1 on my G903F S5 Neo, and love the OS
However, I cannot get bluetooth to work properly. It connects to my car but does not output audio to the cars bluetooth system, which is a dealbreaker unfortunately.
Is anybody using a custom OS that DEFINITELY implements bluetooth audio working 100%? I would like, if possible, to just wipe once instead of trying out different OSes one by one. Also, if you are, does your OS break any other functionality?
Many thanks
T

Turn on bluetooth, go into your bluetooth settings and select car audio bluetooth device's settings, there should be some option to tick "use media audio" or something. If not, you can try AospExtended, it works great for me

Bluetooth Media Audio Profile issues on Lollipop (Android 5.0)

Hi everyone,
I'm in need for some serious help here and I can't express enough how grateful I will be to whoever helps me out here.
The phone I'm using is a Galaxy S5 SM-G900F.
I used to be on 4.4.2 Stock ROM and I flashed XtreStoLite INTL 2.2 ROM (Android 5.0) and now my car Bluetooth connects to my phone but only shows "Call audio - Use for phone audio" Bluetooth profile and not "Media audio - Use for media audio" Bluetooth profile as it used to when I was on 4.4.2.
This means I take calls on Bluetooth and everything regarding calling works well (I can even download Mono Bluetooth Router and streamed mono music through that) but I can't stream music/sound (for example, GPS directions) from my phone to the Bluetooth in my car (A2DP style, you know, the regular).
It is important to note that on a different Bluetooth Speaker I have (NudeAudio), everything works well and as expected and both profiles are visible which is all the more confusing.
I searched on Google and came across these two interesting threads:
https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/nexus/pioR9Zo-mUc <-- This is exactly my problem
https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=79488
It's as though they've revamped the way the Bluetooth profiles are read so my phone only recognizes the Phone Audio channel.
This is one of the features I use most with my phone and if anyone knows of any solution to this I would be so incredibly thankful!
If it's not working with a custom ROM, chances are it's a problem with that ROM
Flash stock and test

Thank you for the input.
Considering that the ROM I used is very close to the stock ROM and I have had no other issues - I would love it if there was some way to handle this issue specifically.
If anyone knows of some tools or something that could help me with troubleshooting this Bluetooth profile issue - that'd be great.

SHIELD Remote - getting microphone to work in full Android

Hi all - is anyone here trying to the SHIELD Remote with full android rather than the stock firmware?
I am, and everything works (even volume control and headphone audio output!) except the microphone.
If anyone has any suggestions for how I could go about debugging the microphone input, I would very much appreciate it as it's the last thing preventing my setup from being perfect.
The message I see when I press the voice input button on the remote is "Can't open microphone" (screenshot at end of this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64552147&postcount=14 )
Android is clearly just not recognising it as an audio input device, but I'm not sure why.
My guess would be that the stock firmware has a kernel module loaded or some modification to the Android bluetooth stack to support bi-directional A2DP devices rather than just one way.
Has anyone here ever seen Android working with a bluetooth device with audio input? Perhaps a bluetooth headset with microphone? Does that use A2DP?
Hi there, any progress ? trying to find some solution for the same problem!

Just to answer last part.
Bluetooth headsets, mono as well as stereo, work fine on full android rom. Including microphone.
Btw, it is controlled in phone sections (headset) of the bluetooth stack and not a2dp which is headphone profile.
Google and by extention nvidia, have changed something in handling microphone from the remote, and that change is probably closed source.
Note 5 ?
Thanks for the heads up Idan73, I've actually since figured out the same thing by connecting a friends bluetooth headset to my NSTV (it worked fine).
I'm going to dig into the original nvidia rom and see if it's something simple like a system APK which is handling the remote audio input.
I assume it isn't in the kernel as I believe zulu99's full android ROM is already using the same untouched kernel from nvidia.

Bluetooth only connects for calls, have to manually enable media.

So weird problem here, I've had countless Android phones and this is the only one that does it. I have a car radio that connects to Bluetooth and can make calls, listen to music, etc, on other phones, they would connect automatically for both, but with the note 4, stock rom and custom ROMs as well, I have to manually enable media playback on the device Bluetooth settings.
Anyone has any idea what could be?
Thank you for any help in advance!

[Q] 8.1 - bluetooth through external device with notification sound through phone

Hi, is there a way that when we are connected to a bluetooth device, music through speakers, to have the notification sounds to play through the phone so it doesn't interrupt the music? On the galaxy S8/9 there is an option for this called Separate App Sounds: http://www.samsung.com/au/support/mobile-devices/galaxy-s8-what-is-the-separate-app-sound-feature/
EDIT: I've read and it seems it's a new option that's made available due to bluetooth version 5.0, but so far only implemented by samsung. is there an alternative for general android? It
doesn't seem limited to only bluetooth 5.0 or samsung because right now you can stream music through bluetooth speakers while also taking a call on the phone's device.
I'm on carbon rom cr-6.1 (orea 8.1 build). Thanks.

Bluetooth connection

Hello everyone. I am enjoying my s10+. I don't have any issues with it except for one. I can't get Bluetooth audio to activate on my jvc double din in my car. The model is kw-340bt. On my pixel 3 xl it works with no problem. My s10+ can connect to the unit but it only lets me make phone calls. When I go to it in Bluetooth settings the audio option is off. When I try to turn it on it attempts to turn on then turns off. It will not come on. I have even reset my unit to factory settings and still the same thing happens. Does anyone have any other options I can try?
Yeah I'm having trouble myself with my ps4 controller, it connects but doesnt do anything! And even if I turn off the bluetooth it doesnt disconnect! What hell Samsung. It's so bad I have to force close / clear and data/ cache on bluetooth system app.
This happened to someone I knew when they used smart switch upgrading from their S5 to the S8+and moved over their settings. Unfortunately a factory reset was all they could find to fix it.
This may sound weird but I had problems getting my TV to connect. I had to go through the new Smartthings app, look for nearby devices. When I tapped on the TV it downloaded something and then I could connect.
Audio track data not updating on Bluetooth car audio head unit
Same. My previous phone (LG V20) was a breeze to connect via Bluetooth to car audio (Subaru Impreza MY15) & happily displayed the track information for my audio collection.
Fast forward to the new S10+ (exynos) & while it connects for audio, track information is only displayed for the first track & remains on-screen without change.
I've gone into developer options, and while I can change the Bluetooth AVRCP Versions from AVRCP 1.3, AVRCP 1.4 (default), AVRCP 1.5 & AVRCP 1.6, the Bluetooth Audio Codec Selection always defaults back to SBC.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Better yet, does anyone have a fix that I could apply???

Every phone that I have ever had always goes back to default with the audio options. I never understood why. They give you options but you can't use the options. Makes no sense.
