You know I am almost thinking of preordering this thing. I have wanted a tablet for sometime and I have been looking at the Transformer as my first choice. This however looks like a great device for the price for what I would be using it for. Basically an e-reader, as I already read all my books on Kindle Software on my EVO, watching movies on the go either from HBO Go, Netflix or even Amazon's services and maybe some light web browsing and email.
So the question is, buy it now and have in in November and wait for the wonderful folks here to root the thing so I can run what I want on it OR wait until someone else gets them and puts out a review on it?
hmmmm..what to do what to do...

Do they charge your card if you pre-order? Or does it only charge when it ships out? I'd hate to have $200 something out from my credit card balance for over a month. It wont be out until November (mid).

I could have sworn I've seen Amazon preorders say "You won't be charged until this item ships" but that seems to be lacking for the Fire.
Can anyone that has preordered confirm if they've been charged?

Pre-ordered while in class . Can't wait for this thing to get into my hands. Praying that there won't be a locked bootloader. If not this thing has a shot of running a homebrew Ice Cream Sandwich!

I preordered as soon as it was up.figure worst case i give it as a gift. But im really intrested to see how a 7 inch tablet works out.
Current use ipad2 but been wanting something smaller.

I am getting one for the wife - just her speed I think...
I'll stick with my ASUS EP121 and ExoPC slates for me.

Amazon charges you when the item ships. So if you pre order, you have a couple months to decide what you really want to do.

I just went ahead and preordered one. I just read on AndroidTablet.com that Amazon acknowledged that this device will be easily rooted and that they won't stand in the way of it happening.
I figure I will get it, play around with it while the great folks here figure out the process and then I will decide if I want to keep it or not. For $200 I am not out much and I can give it away as a Christmas gift or return it if I don't like the thing.

DONE! How can you pass it up at that price? And with XDA throwing knives at it..... This is the entry point for E-readers and Tablets....

I ordered a couple for my family. We have the older kindles and it looks like a worthy upgrade.

I ordered one and the new $79 kindle as well. Cannot wait.

I preordered a few days ago. I still have not been charged for it yet.
And I have preordered things from amazon before. They don't charge until the day it ships.

As per usual the U.K has to play the waiting game and will probably be 40% more expensive when it eventually gets here...... Grrrr

My Sad Nexus 6 Story... (aka First World Problems)

So I am now going to be without any Nexus 6 at all....
I was lucky enough to purchase a 32GB N6 from Motorola on the 12th of Nov and I received it the 26th of November. I was loving the phone but knew I really wanted a 64GB version.
So, before I received my 32GB one from Motorola, T-mobile released them on the 19th of Nov and I jumped on a 64 GB version, only to be swallowed by the backlog vortex!
So fast forward to this weekend, I had been using my 32GB and loving it but couldn't wait until I got my 64GB, which arrived on the 19th, but since I was out of town, I couldn't get it until Sunday, the 21st.
I set it up, decrypted it and started to use it. So Monday night, I put my 32GB Nexus 6 on Swappa and it sold in a couple of hours, I was super excited as I got what I paid for it and I now had the 64GB phone of my dreams!
I then began to notice the camera had issues and problems....
I was seeing "snow" in the view finder and now I can't get the camera to load at all...
I call T-mobile, hoping they can help, but nope, no luck. I can get a refurbished phone, or I can get a new phone but since it is on back order, I have to wait another 6-8 weeks.
So I am returning my 64GB phone to t-mobile for a refund. My 32 GB Nexus 6 is sold and being shipped today. So I am falling back to my HTC M8. I'll try and buy again I guess, but not until next year some time. Sigh... I went from 2 Nexus 6 phones to 0 in a 12 hour period. :crying: And I guess the $80 in accessories I purchased for my N6 will have to go on a shelf until later.
Enjoy your phones guys! And perhaps, as you read this, you'll send some good thoughts to the phone gods on my behalf!

WoW man that sucks, glad I haven't had to go thru that. I wouldn't know what to do in that situation. Just glad I don't. Hopefully you'll find it available in Christmas. Just remember to keep checking every Wednesday. Or if your going thru T-Mobile hopefully they'll get some in,

I would be all over Tmo on that one, back order or not. If they make you wait to get new one i would fully expect them to compensate you for that.

Shipping / Wait time room.

For all of those who ordered this through moto. Whats your shipping wait time? Ordered mine last fri the 27th. Not shipped yet as its coming from china. Estimated delievery of 3/9. Seems like a long wait but worth it.

got mine today as well, same order date

No tracking number for mine yet, called moto. Still on target for monday.

Mine was set for delivery 3/9 also, however I was surprised this morning with the email saying shipped. Then even more excited when FedEx says Thursday AM delivery.

For those who ordered through moto and live in the US how long did it take you to get shipping notice and a tracking #? Still nothing here and i ordered fri, getting a bit frustrated.

Hows the screen on it? Pretty clear? From the reviews it doesnt seem laggy either.

As expected but im hearing its alot clearer than the desire 610.
Still waiting on fedex tracking. Gonna give till fri then call moto again. Id like to get my tracking number at least. Getting impatient.

Hey so I'm getting this as a second phone so I can take it to the gym and go running with it or when I have a lot of walking to do. (I have a nexus 6 on Verizon and it is just too big and annoying to carry sometimes)
Does anyone know any really cheap prepaid plan to look into? Right now I think my best bet is Ting or US Mobile. I don't need anything more then 30 minutes/texts or so a month. But would like around 1 gig of data so I can try the different fitness apps that use data and gps.
Sorry if this is an inappropriate place to ask this but shipping/waiting rooms have been places for off topic discussions from my past experience.

Straight Talk ATT. Refill using http://refillphones.goodsie.com/ and it's like $30/m for unlimited everything.

mine shipped via fedex, still on track for monday. gotta go get a micro-sim from tmobile though this weekend.

Have you notice the wifi issue? Mine only connects if I am in the same room where the router is

The only issue I have thus far is it's not rooted, but that's a WIP. Everything works the way it should. I have a Sandisk 128GB card in it, formatted FAT32 with 4096 cluster. Don't let that 32GB max scare ya, toss a 64 or 128 in there, just format it FAT32. Wifi works great, pixel density doesn't bother me, I can fit my hand around the phone and touch fingers. The battery life so far is phenomenal, I had a 2.5hr conference call Wednesday night, went from 100% to 89% at the end. Bought the black one, and bought the 3 pack of yellow/red/blue bands. I'm digging the yellow/black combo. Only thing not caring for, camera while fast processing, is taking grainy pictures. Pics below are using my Nikon AW110.

got mine last night. this phone is amazing for a mid-range. i cant believe how smooth it feels and how crisp and clear the lcd is. compared to my desire 610 i took back yesterday it blows it away x10. cannot wait for root and roms. moto did a great job.

I ordered mine today (Mar 7th), and my confirmation e-mail says March 17th.
We'll see what happens.

Did not expect to get the Gear VR promo so soon.

Didn't expect to get the Gear VR from the S8/+ promo so soon. Was honestly expecting a few months before it was shipped. A few shots of the contents and comparison to the 2016 Gear VR that I had to take to bits to fit a Galaxy Note 4.
Really can't wait to try this thing out.

I had submitted it on 4/19, same day I got the S+. Took a picture of my receipt and it was verified on the 21st. I got an email about it being shipped on the 25th, just yesterday and here it is today.

I just got mine approved yesterday (Best buy receipt issues), so maybe I will only be a week or so behind. But it does kind of sound like you got ahead of the rush since you were lucky enough to get it early.

Just got email this morning that mine shipped out yesterday... yay!

Did you ever get an email about it getting shipped+tracking number? I submitted mines on the 19th and was approved on the 21st. Samsung Promotions websites says my gift has been sent on the 22nd but I never got an email about it

A little update, Sideload VR works, though I had to manually set up the OSIG. Sideload VR kept saying that it might not be compatible with the S8+, however loading up Stream Theater and running Steam games works with little latency that I can still play a first-person shooter and not want to throw my headset off.

Curious what the weight showed on the tracking. I got a text from FedEx that I have a delivery coming tomorrow that needs a signature. Showing 5lbs and coming from Indiana. I don't know that I have ordered anything else. I also haven't gotten an email saying it has shipped and I checked the status on the website and it isn't saying shipped either.

I remember the s7 and note 7 ones took about 2 wks before even getting a tracking number.
But my s8 was approved in 2days (about the 20th, got phone on 18th) And got the tracking number yesterday. Hasnt made it to FedEx yet but says it will be 2 day mail.

Recieved mine today from fed ex.

Does anyone mind sharing a few with their app usage? Can be light moderate or heavy. I'm interested in this model more than pro version because of the price and pro cost is too close to poco so I'd probably get either non pro or the poco. Also how come pro has a real life review section on xda but non pro doesn't? Ty!

Pre-ordered from Banggood on March 25. Shipped to rural eastern Canada April 1 using Air Parcel Registered. ETA April 27. I'd rather wait a month for the postal system than have to deal in any way with DHL though.
Back to the topic, there are plenty of youtube videos showing good screen on time. One person did a youtube streaming test for more than 12 hours. Others report around 9 hours screen on time with moderate usage. I'll see what I get when it gets here eventually. YMMV.

Uh so that's why it takes too long :/
Wow the battery is so good! I still can't believe I had 15 hours of SOT on my old device (redmi 4 prime 4000mh snapdragon 625 5 inch). It was like a legend! After 2 years of usage it went down to 9 hours which is better than a lot of new devices!

My Note 7 arrived today to shop, but I am still thinking - buy it or cancel order. I am using HTC U Ultra now. Nice smartphone, but 3000mAh battery is a joke. I had Poco F1 in the past, so I guess that Note's SoT will be a bit weaker due to 14nm SoC.

I've seen some YouTube reviews and have an idea now. Looks to be similar to older models maybe slightly less but still good. Also I think most reviewers aren't flashing EU miui rom on it. I would asap right after receiving the phone for a better experience because I heard the rom shipped with almost any xiaomi phone can be buggy

:good: best u can do! indian and china roms are very...buggy

I think this topic is buried here and should transfered into Real life Review, too little info for screen time for such an excellent device. Screen on time threads of RN4 and RN5 have many people discussing this matter. Here is dead.
After a day use, everything always on(data, gps), wifi on when needed, auto sync only wifi. Stock rom EU 10.3.4
