Hi all,
I would like to share something on this topic.
The build quality and the materials are really good. But after I hold it in my hand, I was bit upset - the screen edges where really rough. You can sense it on your finger tips. The same was on the back screen.
After that, I did realise, that actually that's a screen protector. The phone is coming with preloaded screen protectors on the front and back. Nice approach.
Also the dealer where I got it, has attached a free of charge case with the color of mine phone.
Pretty nice.

Hey, thanks for the info! You mention a case. Can you please describe how it works out with the back screen? Does it cover the sides only or what? TY

I works well, there is hole for the backscreen.
I hope the link will work: https://bit.ly/2EMGl3w

Did someone notice a little gap between the front glass and the metal frame? Sometimes at night when I am using the screen, I can see some light coming from this gap. Especially the upper one, and it has some dust stucking in it. It isn't actually a big deal for me since I always use my phone with a case. But I just wanted to know if others have it too.
I have case but still lol
Build quality is really good. When I take it out of my case its just porn for my hands lul.
No flaws. Speakers are awesome for watching stuff and music.

Me tooooo, I could not agree more. A few days ago Im having a dilemma, either go with a skin or go pure naked. But im afraid I might drop it especially I got sweaty hands :crying:
Awesome build, but in its nude form its actually really hard to hold onto. Like a slab of wet soap. Close to unusable without a case for me.

Ergonomics (in-hand feel)

Please, no "that's what she said" jokes. Rate this thread to express how you think the Huawei P30 Pro feels in-hand. A higher rating indicates that it's comfortable to hold for long periods of time, even in one hand. Resist the urge to say "TWSS" just now. Seriously.

Feels much more comfortable to hold than the p20 pro ( my previous device) due to the rounded sides. The buttons are easy to reach as well. The only issue is the camera module that sticks out if you try to place the device flat on a surface, but that is no longer an issue if you place it in a case. The top of the device might be difficult to reach by those with smaller hands as well.
really big, and its only an issue if you use gestures as theres no shortcut to pull down the notification panel.
But thats solved with Nova, which works perfectly btw.
Unfortunately while the glass feels lovely, it is a very slippery device to hold. had to get a case to get some grip.
And also to stop me going crazy wiping off all the fingerprints!
Quality device, but that quality does have its downside in that its so slippery

Quality feel (use of materials)

Rate this thread to express how you think the Samsung Galaxy A71 feels in terms of quality. A higher rating indicates that it feels premium and high-quality (attention to detail is high, manufacturing defects don't exist, etc).

There is no good feeling of quality. It looks like a slouch-designed device. But the A71 is not the only one. Several Samsung devices manufactured this year give me the same feeling. There is a lack of care and affection with the details.
First: All made of plastic. The edges, in addition to being made of plastic, are shiny and easy to scratch. Incidentally, mine already got a scratch next to the USB type C.
Recently I had a quick experience with a very cheap Samsung J2 Core. And despite being all plastic, it feels more premium than the A71, as it has a matte side finish.
Second: The sound output grid at the top is completely decentralized. I see much cheaper devices from other brands that have greater care in this regard. It seems that Samsung just cut out a piece of plastic grid anyway and fitted the speaker line anyway. From one side up. On the other, lower. And totally off center.
Third: The input of the USB type C connector also demonstrates Samsung's lack of whimsy in terms of finish. There appears to be a gap between the metal connector at the bottom and the plastic body. A beautiful entrance door for dust and debris into the device.
Just for comparison, I have a cheaper Motorola device, made of plastic too, and there doesn't seem to be any spacing between the USB Type-C connector and the plastic body. I also photographed my old Samsung Galaxy A7 2017, a premium intermediary smartphone from 3 years ago, which cost a lot cheaper than the A71, and has a much more refined finish.
The images have been attached below.
i have a good case on mine , problem solved. got mine for 340 quid, ( UK ) cant moan yes its feel cheap at the back , i have no gap by the usb socket . it ticks all the boxes. there was either that or another LG ( came from a V20 ) is it more flimsy than than my V20 .. oh yes!
People who complain about plastic and then complain when their glass back phone cracks are hilarious to me. I've had plastic builds and glass built phones and guess which ones last the longest and looking better over time, the plastic build.
My note 5 looks like crap now with all the cracks and repairing it is expensive. I also have a note 4 and that still looks awesome and looks better than my Note 5. Marketing has just swayed people to think that glass-back phones are better. I agree that the side would have been nice if it were metal but a simple fix for that is to use a thin case. Another thing I do is put a skin on it which makes the phone last and look longer whether it's glass or plastic. Problem solved.
The A71 would be heavier if it was made from glass and metal and make it more cumbersome to handle. The build makes the phone easy to handle in a one-handed operation. To each their own I guess.

its definitely a plastic... there's a teardown on YouTube
It doesnt feel as premium as of the time I unboxed it
... it would be also nice if I can replace its phone case like a Nillkim CamShield (the case feels pretty premium) and it has also a protective cover to the camera...
(im broke for now btw)
the only thing that makes me worry that it would also have a camera dust issue like in the Redmi Note 9 Series because on how wide the camera module is and how it is design like on the Poco X3 Series... but until now, no problems on the camera....
Overall very good experience with the phone, even excited that nearly a month, theres new custom ROM that made for this device... Xiaomi is definitely one of the brands that devs love to play around!

I hope your wrong because if you don't that means the Xiaomi lied about the special system cooling by using the aluminum frame too...and that's a fraud already and not just a mislead.
When you tick on the top right/left on the back, you also hear a sound like something is loose? Or that's a vibration motor?

I really think they lied about that metal frame. People say that only poco X3 Indian variant has plastic frame, not global version. But i don't believe it. From the X3 NFC teardown videos, i saw the plastic frame connect to the main structure by dovetail joints.

Yeah That's exact what i mentioned ! Thank you for the picture mate !
Man this phone got a plastic trim between the glass of the screen and the "metal" frame . That trim is out a bit you can feel it . The problem with that trim is if you push it with a plastic or with a pen or something is bending is soft . Looks ugly to me . My one got 3 dents already

I don't think you should spread around this picture when we have no idea what actually happened. A picture and the video he posted in arabic of a burned phone doesn't really tell anything... This would be more legit if we saw more cases but so far none. So this just looks sketchy now...

i use this picture to show frame connections ;P what cases ? dont know what are you talking about.
If you are careful, you will feel a vibration on back cover. Its because speaker. Its annoying if you play some games.
My volume rocker wobbles a bit, like a milimeter movement or so.
Is it only mine or other units as well?

Same here
Also I got many scratches on back of the device within a week with light usage.
I never kept my phone on any bare surface let alone while charging.
Seems the back is cheap quality.
And yes the volume rocker buttons seem wobbly and cheap.

Yeah same here my phone never left its case after unboxing and i was surprised to see a few scratches, thats why i quickly bought a carbon sticker to ease my worries a bit
I guess they really exchanged the build quality for the specs.

Glasstic backs are very prone to scratches, Even if u put it in and out of bundled TPU case 2-3 times, they catch microscratches. that's why I prefer getting a plastic film (Protector) over these from the day 1 (or 2 at most).
Matte finish of some entry level realme C series phones or old nokia lumia phones fared much better.
Still I prefer plastic as it is less prone to break than glass.

This is somehow my biggest problem with this phone. As others have established, it's one slippery, tall boi. Even with my fairly large hands, using android you tend to end up cradling it with your hands around the bottom of the phone. Then its so top heavy that I've almost had it flip out of my hand multiple times now.
So slippery that I can barely hold it in my hands. Every pick up from the pocket in the open is a risk. What's the point of making quality and premium glass if you can't hold it without a rubber case. You wont see this luxury when case is on. I also have large hands and it's almost impossible to get to the top when you need back arrow in some apps. 16:9 aspect ratio is not so bad but I prefer the normal one like on Galaxy S20. But then again on Galaxy you wont get stock Android experience. That's why I choose this phone over S20. The others are just too big (>6.2 inch) for my taste.
Yes, its too slippery. But its easy to fix with a kinesio tape or any better looking tape.
And since yesterday I am testing "IMAK HYDROGEL III PROTECTION FILM BACK" - and looks and feels ok
I use a slim transparent case and got the slippery thing solved
I waiting for a case to arrive. There is no Sony Xperia 5 ii case in Oaxaca, Mexico. It's like handling an ice cube or a wet trout.
