What to Expect from the ZenFone Max Pro M1 Android Pie Update - Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 Questions & Answers

Since the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M1 offers a stock Android experience, you can expect the Android Pie update for the smartphone to include nearly all the goodies that Google’s latest mobile operating system brings to the table. One of the most impressive features of Android Pie is Adaptive Battery. Google claims the feature learns a user’s usage pattern to optimize battery usage. Along with slightly improved battery life, you can look forward to improved system performance as well. Google has tweaked the ART (Android Run Time) with Android 9.0 Pie, allowing for improved app startup times as well as higher power efficiency. Android Pie will also allow you to set limits on how long an app can be used in a day. Some of the other key Android 9 Pie features include support for gesture-based navigation, App Actions, enhanced Do Not Disturb mode, improved security, multiple Bluetooth pairing ability, adaptive brightness, Slices, and more. The Android Pie update for the ZenFone Max Pro will also make the EIS feature easily accessible in the camera app. The EIS setting is currently hidden

The Android 9 also has native screenshot feature, which Android 8.1 lacks. But I hope Asus adds slow motion option for video recording

17-Guranteed Updates over Xiaomi devices
CONS-(can be fixed with Jailbreak device)
1-No advance Reboot menu
2-Weak Ram Management
3-Updates with Minor Bugs
4-Its Theme engine is buggy make lags.
5-Major Fault -
VR problem with Auto contrast mode
6-Apps compatibility is minor issue yet it is.

8-Bootloader Unlocking method.
Moving To Custom Roms
PROS-

3-There is always nightly builds to check out new features.
4- A new feature can be requested directly to developer.
5-Clean UI
6-Excellent Ram Management
7-Great Apps compatibility
8-New Drivers are loaded in the custom rom. Like Kali net hunter,
Dual Boot Recovery support.
9-Custom roms are for the one who needs perfection to get better towards the Usage of UI in routine.
10-No bloatwares.
11-Theme engines are improving day by day.
12-All new Features are available.
13-Multiwindow Feature
CONS-
1-Development can be stopped anytime.
So no promises on next builds.
2-Bugs these are present in Custom Roms but very minor.
3-Bootloops usually occurs.
4- Too pure roms like lineageOS has least features compared to Resurrection Remix.
5-Though lineageOS uses Substratum in N builds but yes Substratum isnt user friendly and has minor bugs in it.
6-Again the problem with some app compatibilities.
7-Doesnt have features like Copy Otp,Long screenshot, Quickball,Applock in memory, call recorder and many more features that are already provided in Miui 8.
If you are a Xiaomi user then I must advice you to stick with Miui 8.
Looks like you really spent time for this but i must say all of these things is ridiculous except a few one.

I choose this phone over the Honor 8 because of the camera.....!
Since is very difficult to obtain information about this model, I really don't know if it's just a feeling that you've got about the camera or it's really poorer...it's what happened to Honor 6x after updating to Nougat...
Why are you feeling that the camera is poorer....?

It seems like, that the Pictures at bad light conditions, are more poor then before the Update.
At good weatherconditions, the Pictures are really good (like before)
Macro Picutes are also good.

Need Oreo Rom for Nubia Z9 mini device

Hi devlopers,
I need latest oreo update for my nubia z9 mini. I want feature like listed below:-
ZTE Nubia Z9 Mini owners can now update their device to 8.0 Oreo by using custom ROM. Android 8.0 Oreo comes in with many improvements and features such as:
✔ 2x faster: Get started on your favorite tasks more quickly with 2x the boot speed when powering up.
✔ Background limits: Android Oreo helps minimize background activity in the apps you use least, it's the superpower you can't even see.
✔ Autofill: With your permission, Autofill remembers your logins to get you into your favorite apps at supersonic speed.
✔ Picture-in-Picture mode: 8.0 Oreo allows activities to launch in picture-in-picture (PIP) mode. PIP is a special type of multi-window mode mostly used for video playback. PIP mode is already available for Android TV; 8.0 Oreo makes the feature available on other Android devices.
✔ Notifications: 8.0 Oreo redesigned notifications to provide an easier and more consistent way to manage notification behavior and settings.
✔ Android Instant Apps: Teleport directly into new apps right from your browser, no installation needed.
✔ Emoji: Share the feels with a fully redesigned emoji set, including over 60 new emoji.
✔ Autofill Framework: 8.0 Oreo makes filling out forms, such as login and credit card forms, easier with the introduction of the Autofill Framework.
✔ Wi-Fi Aware: 8.0 Oreo adds support for Wi-Fi Aware, which is based on the Neighbor Awareness Networking (NAN) specification. On devices with the appropriate Wi-Fi Aware hardware, apps and nearby devices can discover and communicate over Wi-Fi without an Internet access point.
✔ Smart sharing: 8.0 Oreo learns about users' personalized sharing preferences and better understands for each type of content which are the right apps to share with. For example, if a user takes a photo of a receipt, 8.0 Oreo can suggest an expense-tracking app; if the user takes a selfie, a social media app can better handle the image. 8.0 Oreo automatically learns all these patterns according to users' personalized preferences.
✔ Doze Mode 2.0
✔ 8.0 Oreo VR (Virtual Reality)
✔ Multi-window support
✔ Direct Reply Notifications
✔ 3D Touch support
✔ New quick settings menu
✔ 8.0 Oreo multi-tasking
✔ Unicode 9 support
✔ Comes with the Android Pay feature, which is a mobile payment platform.
✔ A more efficient management of RAM.
✔ Support for fingerprint identification.
✔ Overall smoother, more powerful and faster computing experience.
✔ An overhauled Android extension pack and OpenGL 3.1 support put Android devices alongside cutting-edge graphics rendering, making it a serious contender with the console and desktop-type performance.
✔ A smarter notification bar that provides an intelligent ranking based on the medium of communication and who it's from. You can easily see all notifications packed neatly in one area when you tap at the top of the screen.
✔ Updated protection against device vulnerabilities and malware with the new SELinux enforcing software.
✔ And many, many other little but equally awesome features!

Guidance - ROMs / Tweaks.

Hey all.
Familiar with the general process, messed around with a bunch of HTCs, Sonys and Pixels back in the day.
Third Oneplus phone, haven't really "needed" to play around with custom ROMs or mods in a while, so have never done it on a OnePlus.
Things that annoy me, or I wish I could have:
Quick setting toggle for FHD / QHD, and for 120hz / 60hz
90Hz option introduced for 8Pro, with battery benefits?
Battery management - option to stop charging at 80% (or whatever user sets), maybe even custom charge speed (10W, 15W, instead of 30w).
Better optimised kernel? standby seems decent, but low powered use (social media, scrolling) seems to be a bit higher than desired.
Is there anything out there that fits the above, or, any work in progress to deliver the above? Preferable with no other drawbacks - Google play security still ok, not lose DRM or Widevine L1, root hidden, etc.

Since the latest updates, L1 is present for apps like Netflix, Prime Video.
If you have Tasker, you can create your own QS tile to toggle between refresh rates. As for screen resolutions, I have tried and it doesn't work.
90Hz I don't think is possible unless OnePlus introduces it
Use ACC from the Magisk modules repo for charge control
I don't want to favour any kernel but I personally use BluSpark and it's been great. I also use an app called Naptime for better standby
Sorry I couldn't find a solution for all your questions!

Flashing
You can flash it over the latest ColorOS 12.1 via local upgrade.
From OOS12, you have to go back to OOS11 and then update to ColorOS12.1 and then to ColorOS13
You can go back to old version via downgrade zips in the same way as usual from OOS12 or ColorOS12.
P.S. As usual this is closed beta version and I am not responsible for any damage to the devices and flash it at on your own risk. Also, this is not the original thread and its completely a copy of external source.

You can create and login to heytap ID using your email than phone number which helps to use all the security features in ColorOS. For that when asks for phone number for OTP just replace that with email ID and that does the job. But unfortunately as usual safety net does not pass so have to install all needed banking apps before migrating if need those. Also I am a nonroot user so not sure of root and magisk mods.
