[ROM][ICS][IML74K] teamhacksung's CM9 ALPHA for Captivate (BUILD 17)

Introduction
Teamhacksung has been porting ICS (to be CM9) for the Galaxy S and Captivate we feel that it has reached a state where it would benefit from public testing. However this is still a very early versions and there will be bugs. Bug reports are allowed in this thread only. Please check the known issues section before reporting a bug. The most minor bugs are welcomed (we'd love to know them, but we may not fix them instantly).
Download

Google Apps Fixer will fix your problem with not being able to add Google Account or Calendar Sync, but will also reset your Google Apps data. Only flash if you're having problems. If Google Apps Fixer does not work for you, do a factory reset from CWM (or Android Settings) and do not restore system data via TitaniumBackup.

Frequently Asked Questions
My calendar sync isn't working!
Install the latest build and gapps and gapps fixer. If it still doesn't work, wipe your data.
App X isn't working!
Check the list at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1402210 (unaffiliated with teamhacksung) first and check if it works on other ICS phones. Most likely, it's the application's problem, not ours.
Can I mount the phone as mass storage via USB?
Starting from BUILD12, mass storage is the default configuration (might not apply to existing installations). The below command can be used to change into USB Mass Storage mode. USB Mass Storage mode is always used in recovery.
Code:
setprop persist.sys.usb.config mass_storage,adb
If you want to switch to MTP mode use
Code:
setprop persist.sys.usb.config mtp,adb
Please reboot after executing the command.
I can't adb into the phone!
Please install Nexus S drivers from Google. (Or Galaxy Nexus's driver in MTP mode)
Can I flash other modems?
You may flash modem packages designed for CM7.
How do I take a screenshot?
The screenshot taking function is built into ICS. Hold volume down + power.
Can I use CM7 kernels?
No, the kernel has modifications to make graphics, camera, data counter and data limit work.
Can I disable LED Notification?
Yes. Untick Settings -> Display -> Pulse notification light.
Maps keeps asking me to sign in even though I'm signed in!
Ignore the sign in dialog and pull down the notification menu. Answer the request for permission. Do this a few times and Maps will work.
How do I enter Captivate Settings (Device Settings)?
Type "am start com.cyanogenmod.AriesParts/.AriesParts" from adb. Or starting from BUILD 7, it is available as an icon in your launcher.
How do I enter service mode?
Type "*#*#197328640#*#*" into the dialer.
Is there a Vibrant version?
We currently lack a developer/maintainer for Vibrant.
What's working? Why is there only a list of issues?
Everything else not listed are supposed to be working (aside from the usual CM7 bugs). If they're not listed, please post so that they can be added to the list of issues. A list of issues is far more useful from a development standpoint.
Why am I getting notified that my data partition is getting full when I have 1+ GB free?
Your /datadata partition, a smaller partition, is getting full.

what does [ITl41D] mean in the title?
Wouldnt [CM9 beta] be more descriptive?
there are already 2 other ICS port threads.

It is not Cyanogenmod 9 yet so why would it be a beta. This is no even an alfa of CM9.
I'm definitely going to be flashing this today

That was fast! I look forward to trying it once it has some of the major bugs worked out. Thanks to teamhacksung for all the effort to get to this point.

Its the build number. All AOSP builds have them.
Additionally, this isn't CM9 yet, it hasn't been merged.
Awesome, thanks!
What is meant by "lack of hardware composition"?

I have no idea what the difference between the two on-going ICS developments are but Pawitp did have a hand in developing the other version.
I have more confidence in trying this version knowing that Teamhacksung is behind it. Great stuff atinm.

I would assume he means the fact that samsung never released the hardware source (the reason cm7 had poor battery life). But I would like to know for sure, too.

Pretty sure it has to do with not having the correct libraries for the gpu, and therefore not having gpu acceleration in apps.
However, the Nexus S has the same gpu as us, so *hopefully* when ics for crespo drops, it'll just be a matter of using those libs.
I haven't flashed ICS yet, but it would be appreciated if someone who flashed the ICS rom from DemonWav's thread gave their thoughts on the two ICS roms out right now.

First thing I noticed is that network worked right away. None of those additional fixes needed. Will get back to you after some more time. For me A7 was laggy as hell
Update: After just 2 min, I can tell this seems like a much more mature port. Definitely smoother than A7

The ROM is uploaded to baidu cloud storage @ china, if you have mirror the it to other country which is faster out of China, please send me the link for the thread
True Dual boot should be disabled because since MIUIv6 adds encryption to data is is not supported by this recovery hack
Please install to system 1, only
The recovery provided by my link is in Chinese menu, you may want to use English one. I don't have time to find English one for you

Can you built some of these WIP feature into your CM 12.These are some great feature that makes a phone stand out. Also can you do anything about camera quality.Sony Z or z1 uses same sensor, they have great image quality.
Please include feature which will make our phone stand out. Thanks
can we use this rom for MI 3W...?
I'm working on some feature/bug fixes
No it won't work on anything else other than MI3 TD. Check MI3 W roms for MI3 W

you need to disable the dual boot and install it on system 1
The bugs i found till now
maps google search not working fc
, camera video force close on saving
, sometimes in calls just turning call on background on call reply
, graphics glitch on performance when trying antutu i have some screen glitches
storage not shown as normal don't see sd internal storage in settings only system storage
- antutu score 37055 performance 26540 on balanced
root works perfectly
some screenshots with bugs and antutu
I've atached the antutu score and camera and google maps problem
ROM updated. some bug fixed
please update links
on baidu fails to download pleas put androidhost links or other sources that work well outside of china failed download every time
---------- Post added at 09:05 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:52 AM ----------
when i reach the half of the download crashes for the first 5 min works great then jumps on low transfer then chrashes , that's strange on a gigabit connection use anything else for this but can't dowload it
Finaly managed to install it
every bugs that i reported are fixed i'll try to see if i'll find any more bugs , sorry for tte delay but i had to write the kk recovery again via adb because it was overwriten by the cyanogen one , for now everything works only one request do you know someone to translate the kk recovery it took a week for me to find the options i don't know chinese and the tdb was not a option in the clasic one so arangement differs a litle from the english version .
i'll test it for any more bugs i will atatch screenshots

sorry, i don't have access to the source of this version of kk recovery
good job
after all the fixes and an antutu test i found a 400 points boost , maps and voice work now still i will have to test on a long term bases to see the battery stats, no bugs except you reported i mean fm radio ,
there is a bit of lag in call animations but is easaly fix with reducing animation to 0.5
by the way can you put the internal sd in storage i only see system memory and i need to go to file explorer to see how much storage i have
an ironical opinion about cm12 vs miui
for me at list it's more stable then miui v6 rom on miui v6 had some sim problems and found myself with no sim error mobile networks grayed out on cm12 never had that problem some small glitches but there were fixed ,
i mean this is ironical that a custom firmware works better then the original rom , if xuefer works the fm radio we will have a better rom than miui v6( i don't use that but i mean that is the only thing that is missing for me )
P.S : thanks xuefer for the fast support ,
FM app is not working for the lack of MIUI framework
SIM card may not work after a hot reboot, so make sure you can dial after boot (it's easier by checking carrier name, it seems different between working or now)
good to know most bug is fixed correctly. the animation is by CM or AOSP which i don't know, they should have tweaked it better i guess
the way MI3 TD partition the disk, emulating SD-card using a separated partition, is in-formal way and isn't supported by AOSP/CM
MIUI show it by hacking the framework code.
I could try to build a recovery with support for
true dual boot
English
datamedia (merged emulated-SD-card to data)
But It take some, and maybe donation. It seems not much non-China user is using MI3 TD. And a little (if not zero) of the China user like to donate

ROM Repository - Info / Open Discussion / tips on all '9' Pie 9.0 ROMs (1.11.19)

Please keep this discussion to only Pie 9.0 ROMs, as the ROM Repository - Oreo ROMs serves that purpose.
Please keep the discussion clean, no bashing someone's opinion or a Dev/ROM.

Section 2:
-> Recommended Gapps <-
---------------------------------------
1. OFFICIAL Open GAPPs.
Note: consult the ROM install instructions per ROM either on this thread or the ROMs support thread.
-> Preparation (If flashing a Pie ROM for the first time) <-
---------------------------------------
*** If coming from 8.1 or lower ROM. Proceed with the following, otherwise you'll loose all data, media, etc***
1. Make a nandroid of your current ROM in TWRP.
2. Make an external back of all of your internal storage.
3. Understand that by clicking Format Data in TWRP that you will lose everything on your phone and that you have made an external backup to your PC.
4. Format Data, this will decrypt your phone.
5. Move what you want back to your phone from your PC including this ROM, Magisk, etc.
6. Flash one of the ROMs below.
7. install Magisk (Optional)
8. Reboot.
-> Before Flashing <-
---------------------------------------
1. Make sure to be on the latest TWRP recovery image.
2. Backup your current ROM.
3. Understand that clean flashing is always the best route, and understand that dirty flashing can bring performance degradation and instability.
4. Research is your best friend.
-> Flashing Instructions <-
---------------------------------------
These instructions can be used on any of the ROMs listed below.
Note: consult the ROM install instructions per ROM either on this thread or the ROMs support thread before proceeding with the below flashing instructions.
A. Clean Flashing: (Preferred method)
1. Wipe everything except internal storage.
2. Flash ROM.
3. Flash GAPPs.
4. Flash Magisk (Optional but recommended)
5. Flash any Magisk Modules.
6. Reboot.
B. Dirty Flashing: (Keep all your apps and data, but risk stability)
1. Wipe cache and Dalvik cache.
1a. Some ROMs require the system partition to be wiped too. (If you are stuck trying to flash in TWRP, try this)
2. Flash ROM.
3. Repeat steps from 'A' 3-7.
C. Semi-Dirty: (Either A or B works)
Option 1.
1. Make full Nandroid backup of the data and boot.
2. Wipe everything except internal
3. Flash ROM
4. Flash Gapps
5. Flash custom kernel. (optional)
6. Flash Magisk. (optional)
7. Reboot
8. Skip everything until you reach actual homescreen
9. Turn on advance reboot (if ROM provides it), then Reboot again to recovery
10. Restore DATA ONLY from last backup.
11. Reboot.
Option 2:
1. Make full Nandroid backup of the data.
2. Wipe everything except internal
3. Flash ROM.
4. Flash Gapps.
5. Flash custom kernel. (optional)
6. Flash Magisk. (optional)
7. Restore data partition.
8. Wipe cache.
11. Reboot.
---------------------------------------
For easy flashing and backing up, I recommend:
Wugfreshs Nexus Root Tool Kit.
Note: If you do not flash Magisk at first boot, you may run into a "Device not Certified" message. This is something that was just put into affect on 3/16/18, though it is not fully rolled out as of yet. Follow this XDA post to bypass this issue.
Section 3:
My ROM Experience:
12/25/2018:
I went back to 8.1 AOSiP in September, I have recently flashed DU 13 and have decided to stick with it for the time being (even without VoLTE). All settings stock. Stock kernel. I use One Plus Gestures to replicate the AOSiP feature and Pixel Filter to replicate Smart Pixels. Almost identical battery life to Oreo.
8/30/2018:
I have currently been testing AndroidX Pie since early August 2018 (built from Camcory source). As you may have seen in posts in the AOSiP forum from myself and Camcory, Shamu Pie now has working Bluetooth, NFC, WiFi, Camera, Data, Location, etc). At this point I have been running this since 8/16/18. In my opinion, this can be run as a daily driver but requires a few hurdles to get around. I posted a detailed guide below.
Thanks to Camcory and all the great devs whose hard work has gotten us here.

1. AndroidX
Dev: Camcory
Source: ROM, Kernel, Device, Vendor
Status: Discontinued.
Security Patch: August 2018
ROM Updated: 8/22/18
Device Tree: AOSP (Camcory)
DRM: L1
SELinux Status: Permissive
Custom Kernel Support: N/A
About: First official release from Camcory. Everything is working (NFC, Bluetooth, Camera, ETC). To flash I recommend dirty flashing from Androidx 8.1. Currently GAAPs are unstable for 9.0 and in some cases you won't be able to sync your Google apps if you clean flash. (Your mileage may very). As this is AOSP, it doesn't contain Pixel features like adaptive battery, or slices. (Yet).
Feature Set:
- Wireless display casting currently not working.
- VoLTE currently not working

Flashing instructions (Specific to this ROM).
6. Flash the 8.22.18 build of Android X from AFH (link below).
7. Flash Magisk 16.7.1 for root. Only 16.7.1, Magisk 16.0 does not work with P) (17.1+ and above as of September 2018)
8. Reboot system from TWRP
9. Go through Google Account setup normally.
10. Profit.
Note: if your Setup Wizard (Pixel Setup) keeps crashing you may need to perform the following.
1. Boot to TWRP.
2. Wipe everything but internal storage.
3. Mount system partition
4. Go to the follow folder -> system -> priv-app -> lost+found.
5. Delete the lost+found folder.
6. Reflash the ROM again.
(This has been fixed in the latest unreleased test build)

Flashing instructions (Specific to this ROM).

1. Make a nandroid of your current ROM in TWRP.
2. Make an external back of all of your internal storage.
3. Understand that by clicking Format Data in TWRP that you will lose everything on your phone and that you have made an external backup to your PC.

5. Move what you want back to your phone from your PC including this ROM, Magisk, etc.

6. Flash the build of Android X from AFH (link below).
7. Flash open GAPPs (I used the aroma build)
8. Flash the latest Magisk for root.
9. Reboot system from TWRP
10. Go through Google Account setup normally.

[ROM][PORT][ALPHA][MT6735] Lineage OS 14.1 for Brown 1 (V4701_I01)

Code:
*** Disclamer
* I'm not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed (like it did for me...).
* YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
* Your warranty will be void if you tamper with any part of your device / software.
[B][U][SIZE="5"]Introduction[/SIZE][/U][/B]
[QUOTE]
LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 7.1.2 (Nougat), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review.
LIneageOS 14.1 has now been ported from source and is available for the Brown 1. This ROM is not recommended to be used as a daily driver because of its issues. As usual do not hesitate to let us know of any issues regarding this ROM.

## I want more
A complete work/gather up about the GCam fixes for Mi Note 3 has been done by Engineer_Mode and you can learn more on [this 4PDA post](http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=878111&st=3460#entry83639600) (use Chrome's translate)
It doesn't work and returns my hardware support level to Legacy. I had to setprop persist.camera.HAL3.enabled 1 again to use my gcam, and this 7.3.020 version doesn't work either.
It works but i have whatsapp front camera lagging issue. Now found v25 and will try it.
