Can't add google account SM-N9005, date and time correct - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just booted up my old note 3 for use as a drone controller, but for some weird reason I am unable to get into the play store because every time I try to add a google account it gives me the message 'Cannot establish reliable connection to server' despite my internet connection working perfectly fine (can access play store on chrome and android browser)
At first I thought this might be due to a date/time error but even after manually setting the date and time (as well as automatic settings) the error persists. The weather app, S assistant, Youtube and web browsing works fine, however several applications like Flipboard, ChatOn, DJI Go 4 and any type of google service which requires a account are all unable to connect to their servers. I've tried using a different WAP, verifying client access via the web and factory resetting the phone, but nothing seems to fix it.
If anyone knows how I can fix this it would be greatly appreciated.

Gmail weirdness

I've had very bad luck with using my Gmail account on my new Touch HD so far. Anybody else had problems with this?...
Here's what I've observed:
I've installed the Gmail Java client but haven't been able to login to my Gmail account with it even once. It fails to sign on every time, saying "this program requires a working data connection". Of course, I'm sure that I'm using the correct user name and password. I've also tried entering just "username" into the first field rather than "[email protected]". Didn't change the result. Meanwhile, I can connect to the web via Opera Mobile and Opera Mini just fine and use other network-enabled apps like Google Maps. So, I do have a working connection. I've also tried turning off my data connection so that it's established from scratch on the next attempt. It didn't help. Turning on airplane mode for a little while and then turning it back off to try again didn't change anything either.
I've set up Gmail as an account in Outlook Mobile. Initially, I just used the automatic setup. It worked fine at first. It downloaded an initial set of that day's e-mails. I'm pretty sure a later send/receive also retrieved an additional messages even. But it stopped working at some point after that and, ever since then, this Outlook account hasn't worked either. It keeps showing an "error synchronizing" message on the status bar and I get a pop-up saying "cannot connect with current connection settings". There's nothing wrong with my connection settings, as I explained above. I try a website (that wasn't cached) on Opera Mobile immediately after this and it comes up fine. I've also tried a warm reset, but it didn't do anything. I've then deleted the Gmail account and created it from scratch using the manual approach explained here and on the Gmail site (starting with "[email protected]" as the fake address, and so on). Still, no go.
Meanwhile, I can login to my Gmail account via Opera Mobile on the same device (or from any desktop machine) just fine.
This is only the second day I've had this device and I had spent last night installing a bunch of applications on it (which I'm accustomed to using). Some of these were networking-related applications, too. However, I'm pretty sure that my Gmail account in Outlook Mobile was set up and was (temporarily) working after installing all those apps. So, I don't see that much chance that something I've installed might be causing the problem. (But I'll still try a hard reset and start from scratch as a last resort, if I have to.)
Is anybody else seeing anything like this? Specifically anyone who's using the Touch HD on AT&T's EDGE network, perhaps? Because, I'm beginning to wonder if I should suspect some weirdness about the network. That is partially because I also noticed another strangeness last night: The white square background of the "E" logo for the EDGE network on the Touch HD turned from a solid white to a "cross-hatch patterned" or "faded" appearance for a few hours. During that time, I couldn't connect anywhere at all. I tried a few things and some resets, but nothing changed it. That was the status last night as I went to bed. This morning, I woke up, and the logo was back to normal and all connections (with the exception of Gmail) worked fine again. So, that's why I think that strange logo was due to an AT&T network issue. Assuming that one was an AT&T screw-up, I'm now wondering if another more minor AT&T network screw-up might still be at play that prevents me only from connecting to Gmail. (Something specific to SSL connections, perhaps?...)
Incidentally, after typing the end of that last paragraph, it occurred to me to try an SSL connection. I tried the web-based mobile login page for Gmail in Opera Mobile once again. (It uses HTTPS.) It worked fine. So, it can't be a fundamental problem with SSL connections either.
Or could Gmail be experiencing some short-term anomalies with their IMAP server at the moment? Anyone seeing anything like this with them at the moment when using IMAP?
I'm completely stumped. I can't even imagine what else might be going wrong.
Any ideas as to what I should try next?
It turns out that I solved the mystery myself. For those who might have the same problem, let me explain...
The problem was that my cellular network data connection was set up to use a proxy server. I can only guess why it initially worked, which must have been because I think I did a new "connection database" download after Gmail (as an Outlook account) worked successfully for a while. I suppose the settings were correct before the connection database update, and the update must have screwed up things. (The Java-based Gmail was something I installed very late anyway, so my first attempt at using that must have been after the connection database update.)
To fix this, I needed to go to Settings -> Connections (tab) -> Connections (item) -> Manage Existing Connections -> Proxy Settings and deselect the checkbox labeled "This network uses a proxy server [...]". That fixed the problem for both the Gmail account in Outlook Mobile and the Java-based Gmail app.

3 Questions about andoid

I have a sprint vogue flashed to metropcs with working internet and mms. I am running Nfsfans v14 rom. I installed android 1.5 bundle off of the google code page. I have 3 questions about android.
1.I have internet working with all the proxy settings and everything. Is there any way i can get mms working also?
2.Marketplace, Google Maps, Downloads form the browser, and Google Sync do not work. I get a connection error in marketplace, Google Maps does not load anything, Google Sync tells me to try again later, and the Browser downloads just say waiting for connection. is there any way to get all this working ??
3. is there any way to calibrate the screen? My 1,2,a,s keys are a little off
Thanks in advance
As far as your Google account not syncing - I think its a problem with any proxy based access.
I have cricket and its the same story. They use a proxy and either A) have a terrible reverse DNS issue - or B) They are blocking port 25.
This led to me not being able to have outlook connect directly with Gmail and download - id have to use the web version.
To my knowledge there is no work around for it - its an issue with the provider. Of course this is also assuming that the syncing Google does is using the same port it would for simple email.

All Google related apps not downloading on S7 Edge via WiFi

Hello Board, I hope I can get some help with this one.. I upgraded from S6 to S7. After the transfer of all of the files, I'm able to get to all of the Google Apps on the phone, but for some reason it will not download the content on them on WiFi. Examples: in Google Play Store I can view the pages, but when I start to download it just hangs and download shows download bar, but nothing downloads. In Google Maps the background maps will not download, Google Play freezes after asking which account I want to use. Youtube loads the pages but will not play videos and there area few more. It is All Google apps only and only Via WiFi. If I disable WiFi and go onto Data, it all works...... I have access to my old S6 and a second S6 and both devices work just fine on the local WiFi with N/G and AC WiFi modes.
This has to be a Marshmallow/Google/S7 issue. only. I have tried all of the standard fixes I could find on Google. Clearing data and caches, resetting app defaults, installing and reinstalling apps, changed every setting and restarted everything multiple times and restarted the device several times as well.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Clear data on Google play services, sign out then sign in again.
Sent from my SM-N920W8 using Tapatalk
OK, Cleared out Google Play Services data and cache, closed all apps, signed out and in, retried Google Play and same issue. Did the same and then rebooted cleared again just to be sure and retried and same issue.
Can someone check on their S7 to see if there is a Download Manager App?
SOLVED: Marshmallow is having issue routing on the phone when DHCP issues an IPv4 and IPv6 address at the same time. Disabling IPv6 on the Router removes the IPv6 and routing issue. Because Google uses mainly IPv6 address internally, the apps on Marshmellow tries to communicate from the app via IPv6, at which the local WiFI router had no way to route it.
Hope this helps others.

Mod to remove certificate changes in Android N?

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone knew of a mod (in any form/fashion) that will "revert" the certificate changes that were introduced in Android 7.0, or if this would be a possibility?
The story in the beta's was/is:
To use my Wi-Fi at my school (I literally live at school) I have to install a certificate on all devices. In Marshmallow I just enter my credentials when connecting to the Wi-Fi, and it connects, however there is no internet connection yet, I then have to open the browser and visit cert.localnetwork.zone, and install the certificate which then allows me access to the internet (well, 'restricted' access, hence the purpose of the certificate).
However, in N, there are some extra steps, when I [connect to the Wi-Fi I have to select between use system certificates and do not validate, which I then select "do not validate", as I don't have any certificates installed on the device to use, and I don't know the domain to enter for the other, and it kicks up an error if I enter cert.localnetwork.zone (the only thing I could think to use). Then when I go to Chrome just like any other time I go to cert.localnetwork.zone, and download and install the certificate like any other ROM I would do it on. It installs and grants me access to the internet, however the access is 'different'.
I can't use the Google App, which means that Google Now doesn't work at all, neither does the search bar on the GNL, going to Chrome I can't search something in the URL bar, instead I have to go to bing.com, and then search it from there (google.com returns an error). I open Sync for Reddit (Pro), and it will not load returning that I have no internet connection, however upon using the official Reddit app, everything works fine. Using the Bing app results in the same error as the Google App (no internet connection), however when using the bing website as mentioned before it works fine. Other services like Google Plus do not work either.
But I am still able to access the Play Store, Gmail, Inbox, Twitter, Tumblr and other services just as I would before, but it seems that anything using https, does not work due to an added security measure. However, when switching to another Wi-Fi network, or using my data, everything returns and works as per usual (which is quite annoying, when a heap of Google Now, Reddit etc notifications come streaming in). Every version of the N preview has been like this, however any version of 6.x has no problem. I haven't come across this error on any other devices (OnePlus One, Nexus 5, iPhone 6, Macbook Pro, Dell XPS 13, Chromebook Pixel, Nexus 7). I've basically narrowed it down to the connection not being private, as it says when I press "do not validate", however I don't know of any other way to connect to the Wi-Fi..
However, in the official 7.0 release it's even worse, now I connect to the Wi-Fi, and I can ONLY access the Play Store (which works without the certificate being installed anyway). I contacted our IT department, and they said that this is not something that they can change since they are required by the ADoE to monitor internet activity.
So I was wondering if there was some either mod/rom or ANYTHING that would allow me to revert the certificate changes in 7.0, or a root app or whatever that allowed connections on an "insecure" Wi-Fi network.

Weird internet access situation

Hi folks,
I'm trying to (remotely!) solve some kind of weird issue. On a Samsung A3 phone, on any wifi or on the mobile connection :
I can : download apps from the Play Store, take remote control with TeamViewer, browse the internet (only with Samsung browser!).
I can't : receive mails from Office 365 (neither Samsung mail or Microsoft Outlook app), I can't browse the internet with chrome.
I tried :
- accessing websites with their IP, same issue, so not a DNS issue.
- Uninstalling a bunch of apps (like sophos). Now there are only really basic apps installed.
- Rebooting a few times.
- Clearing all datas from Samsung browser, chrome app, samsung mail app.
I'm slowly running out of ideas... Do you have any ?
Thanks
