HTC 10 Verizon Oreo OTA or Backup Needed - Verizon HTC 10 Questions & Answers

I just bought a used sim unlocked HTC 10 Verizon off eBay yesterday, it was shipped with marshmallow firmware and I successfully managed to update it to the 7.0 nougat through htc sync manager, however after updating it to 7.0 sync manager shows that the phone is updated to the latest version and there aren't any further updates available, we all know that verizon released an 8.0 update as well for the htc 10. Also, I tried updating through OTA but whenever I press on check updates it says "Cannot connect, we had trouble checking for the system updates." Can anybody provide me with an SD card backup or anything so that I can update my phone to 8.0 officially without losing data? I just want to update it to 8.0 and nothing else, don't want to root it or anything. So far the device seems amazing.
Some information about my phone:
Model Number: HTC 6545LVW
Current Software Version: 2.41.605.36

It's a zip file so you'll need to rename to 2PS6IMG.zip, put it on the root of your SD card and boot to download mode.

im fairly new to HTC, this might sound like a noob question: Will it start updating itself as soon as I boot it in the download mode? P.S file being in the SD card on root

No but it will prompt you to flash it, as long as you named it properly.

You can't. I think you can flash it using fastboot commands? I don't know how though. I saw @yldlj mention it, maybe he can help?

You need to download htc_fastboot from HTC dev. I'm not sure the commands tho but im sure if you google it it will come up. Htc_fastboot allows flashing bigger files. Or just go to the shops today and get an SD card which is the easy way.

the "flashable root" version would be PRIME 1.8.2, thats the closest you'll get. There is no stock + superuser on any ROMs yet.

If your device isn't rooted, go to settings, about tablet, then click firmware update up top, and it will install this update, if your device is rooted this file is useless to you since you need to unroot to apply it until someone mods it for rooted devices. Good luck!

Should i leave it with it current name?

If you rooted you cannot apply this, you need to unroot (head over to the development threads or google "unroot asus transformer xda" then after you have unrooted simply go into settings, about device, then click firmware update and it will apply this update, then simply re-root =] there is currently no way to apply this otherwise to my knowledge
hey
Mine is not rooted but ia still cannot update . What need to be the file name?

it is supposed to be in /cache and named the same with the .zip removed, however I don't believe you can place it in that location without root so just update as instructed in the above posts
I need some help. The update popped up for me yesterday, but I was rooted. So I proceeded to follow the steps to unroot my device, and got it all working again. Now I can't get any updates to appear for me. I even tried to manually check for updates, it says none, but I'm still on 8.6.5.6.
Any ideas?

Sorry for the late reply, I have been busy with my other thread, alot of people want to make their devices louder I guess. As far as updating you could also check with the Asus website, they might have the update with instructions.

How to downgrade firmware on Zenfone 2 Laser?

Hi, I am not happy with the latest update (V1.15.40.639) and would like to downgrade to the previous one (V1.13.40.496). I read on zentalk forum that we can downgrade by downloading the latter firmware from asus site(http://www.asus.com/Phone/ZenFone-2-Laser-ZE550KL/HelpDesk_Download/) and place it on SD card root. The reboot to the recovery and select something like "apply update from external". Can someone confirm if this will work? Is there an easy enough and confirmed way to downgrade the firmware. Any help will be much appreciated.
Edit: The method works!
Haven't done that but it should work, if you face any app crashes you will need to reset phone

Like I said the you'd face app crashes which you can fix by resetting phone.
If you are not comfortable to do this then simply go to service center and tell them you want certain update flashed for whatever reason.

Did you actually go into recovery and flash the previous firmware or just let the phone detect the firmware and install it by itself?

I placed the update on sd card. Booted to recovery. cleared data and cache and applied the update via SD Card method. The cleared cache once more and rebooted.Voila!
This method is going to wipe all user data???
Probably a reboot would do the same result.
I have, like many others, the latest firmware and I didn't encounter no problems. So definitely is not the firmware itself.

LOL. That's one question I never ask. It's always a good idea to do a backup before any update, especially if it's a full firmware flash and not an OTA update.
No. I only wiped cache and it seems to have kept the data intact at the time. I had a backup for safety's sake but I did not need to restore it.
Can We root the phone after downgrading it to lollipop using Kingroot?

Hey everyone
I have a P8 Lite ALE-L21C02B130 from Vodacom South Africa.
My question is, can anyone give me assistance on loading android 5.1.1 (BETA or Official ROM) on this device?
Bootloader is unlocked, but device is not rooted.
Any help with this query would be really appreciated.
Put in on a sd card and install as local update.
http://huaweifirmware.com/huawei-p8-lite
Here you can find B008(5.1.1) and through OTA get B010(5.1.1)

Can I go from B150 (5.0.1) to B008 (5.1.1) ? My model is ALE-L02......
No, you can't go from B150 only from B136.
Model ALE-L02 is the same as ALE-L21 they only use another freq so i guess it should be working.
So fron B150 we can go to B136? I have ALE-L02 too.
So this will work on B130 for sure, no other steps needed other than mentioned? @EpicBass
I'am not able to downgrade to 136a cause i have a single sim phone.
My device is also single sim so I wanted to know if this will work as mentioned in your post? @EpicBas
I'll try to fastboot the rom in a couple of days.

No Android 7.0.1 Beta?!

Does anybody know why the AT&T and unlocked versions don't get the US Android N beta?! I REALLY WANT IT and the only workaround is flashing the T-mobile firmware but I have some reasons not to. Someone please touch on the situation is feel so cheated!
I agree! If they only went with unlocked versions and one carrier it would make more sense, but this just seems odd that two CDMA variants get it yet only one GSM variant does.
I can't tell you why AT&T didn't get it, but I can also tell you that the work around no long is a work around. I flashed the 935T ROM and tried to get on the Beta program..... Denied...... Got a message back saying they got all of the "slots" filled. No more are being accepted

How did you install T-mobile firmware?
With the prince comsey odin. I managed to get a spot and I'm currently waiting for the Ota. Seems to be one day after samsung announced so the 15th I should get it.
I really can't understand why Samsung shows no love to the US Unlocked S7 Edge. It's things like this that make me want to just stick to an iPhone. No reason why a factory unlocked phone shouldn't be on the latest software. We are still in Septembers security update and get shafted on the beta program. I bet 7.0 comes out way later on this phone as well.
I took the plunge over to the verizon firmware, at least until the t-mobile guys have gotten their update.zip from a device. currently moving their nougat update to my phone then ill check it out.
So their is a way to get Nogut on this?
yes, and i have it. i went over to the verizon firmware, didnt root, downloaded their update, made an FOTA folder on my external sd card, moved the update there, went into recovery and used the "update from SD" option to "flash" the update and im on nougat. its kinda laggy but its amazing, thanks to the great people over at the verizon thread for making this possible.

Everything is working great except the Facebook app. Just switched over to swipe pro. Uploaded a video of this in my Android group. Honestly reminds me of good lock paired with xposed and "n-ify"
Can you give a step by step for this. 1. Odin to which Verizon firmware. 2. Download Ota from the thread in the Verizon forum. 3. Create fota folder in external. 4.boot recovery. 5 update from SD card.???
Confirmed, up and ruining beta on AT&T galaxy s7 edge, all is working. Odin to latest Verizon firmware, download the ota that was pulled over in Verizon forum. Create "fota" folder on external. Reboot recovery and apply update from as card. Very impressed already.

There is a thread in the Verizon forum, the link to the OTA is in the op. You need to put the update zip on your external sd card in a folder named "fota" which you create. Once you're on the Verizon firmware via Odin, you reboot to stock recovery and apply update from sd card. Just go follow the thread instructions, the only difference being that you need to Odin to the Verizon firmware first so that the nougat beta update will apply.
So the SD card update zip is nougat right

Correct.
1. Odin to vze firmware (there's a thread over there)
2. Download nougat beta ota (there's a thread over there)
3. Create folder on external sd named fota
4. Place update.zip (nougat beta) in folder.
5. Turn off oem unlock in settings.
6. Turn on usb debugging in settings.
7. Reboot stock recovery
8. Select apply update from sd card and find it in the fota folder you created.
Note: mine took well over 5 minutes. I thought it froze at one point. Just wait.

[SOLVED] Unable to update

Hey everyone!
I know there are threads here about updating the Axon 7 already. I've pretty much tried everything I've read on here but I still can't seem to update my Axon 7 which is currently in version A2017GV1.0.0B03.
I've tried downloading from the update files from the German site, which didn't work & also download the B06 from the download centre, which also didn't work.
The update app doesn't detect any update files & when I try to update via recovery it gives me an error saying footer error.
Would really appreciate some help here.
Thank you.
1.0.0 - so, you should do Marshmallow higher up to b11, then try to do Nougat update version that you want.

First look at the back of the phone and be sure it's an A2017G. If it is, and you don't care about losing all data, just use MiFlash. You can get the idea of how to use it by looking at my DFU unbrick guide. Just download the latest miflash package there is, use adb and issue 'adb reboot edl' and skip to the part where you get edl by shorting a testpad on the guide. There you will be able to flash the FULL_EDL package with no problemo
Common trouble is that people rename stock pack - there is "update.zip" inside folder in zip. Check is that not dual zipping.
