Screen colour calibration request - Xiaomi Mi A2 / 6X Guides, News, & Discussion

Hello.
Is there a way to calibrate the screen of our phone (Mi A2)? A tool (app)? The colours on my A2 are good, but the white balance is slightly on the blue side. I'm used to the srgb calibration, which is more warm. I'm rooted with stock kernel.
P.S. Maybe this was more appropriate for the questions section.

try Kernel Adiutor (ROOT)

Please post (and bump) my thread at the Mi forums here :

Acc to the XDA review, MIUI allows calibration. Xiaomi could provide it for the A2.
Wonder if the Xiaomi 6X provides the same?
EDIT : Acc to this review : https://beebom.com/xiaomi-mi-6x-review/
The 6x does provide some screen adjustments.
If you’re not a fan of warm displays, however, you can choose the “cool” color mode. Alternatively, you can turn on the “warm” mode to make the display more tender to the eyes, although that would result in yellowing of the white portions. The other available option allows you to choose the display’s color based on contrast. While “standard” contrast makes the display warmer, the “increased contrast” makes it whiter and closer to the real colors.

I'm using it. There is no option for that with stock kernel.

[Q] LG G2 Screen at max brightness

Hello,
I wanted to ask how it is with maximum brightness at the LG G2? During direct comparison in shop my Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 (i9205) vs. LG G2 be a little smaller maximum brightness and white is a little gray.
on G2 I am only shifted the regulator to maximum brightness (automatic was turned off) Battery been charged enough.
Is there display mode such as the Samsung?
In review writen radiant display
I am imagined something better .
How satisfied are you with maximum display brightness and white tint?
Thank you for your response
Sincerely Andrew Gale

Dude. Which do you prefer?
Something like a screen, nobody can tell you if you'll like it.
And you're posting into a G2 forum; of course most people are going to say this is the best phone evar.
Go with the one YOU like best.
The LG will always be brighter and have better whites because of the different technology.

Kernel with RGB adjustment

I'm looking for a G2 (LS980 compatible) Kernel that has custom RGB adjustment support. Any suggestions?

Why would you? According to anandtech.com G2 has one of three most accurate displays of mobile devices, other two being iPhone 5S and HTC One. If you think your display is faulty and displays wrong colors probably you better buy another model
A kernel with RGB color control can be used in conjunction with programs like auto lux to enable night mode for low light situations.

improving the color saturation

I was just tinkering with my old S2 and I was wondering why the G3 doesn't have different color profiles like the S2 does. "dynamic", for instance, increases the already quite vibrant oled colors.
my laptop doesn't have an extraordinary screen but nvidia's digital vibrance make up for it quite nicely.
So, is there any way we can digitally enhance color saturation on the G3 on a rooted, stock rom? I don't mind the colors becoming inaccurate, I'm just a color nut (the only reason I'm not switching to a note 4 is the price).
Note, I am aware of the color tweaking you can do in the ease of access panel, but that only gives a small contrast boost before it starts to change the hues completely.
It doesn't have the Samsung tweaks because it's not a Samsung device.
The only colour Adjustment I know of is the one in Accessibility. Haven't heard of any others
Go to Settings > Accessibility > Color Adjustments, and set it just above the camera icon
Check out the screenshot
and put it exactly there
and BOOM... colors are more vibrant and more contrast to the display in general
Oh and BTW the reason is that the G3's display is an IPS panel while the S2 ( and most Samsung's phones) is an AMOLED display..which is by it's nature has more vibrant colors(more than I like) and deeper blacks than IPS displays

Increase saturation?

Hi how can I increase the saturation of my screen with stock ROM to make it as saturated as Nexus 6P?
I personally use a cm based rom and kcal color control. Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software-hacking/dev-kcal-advanced-color-control-t3032080
In addition to that, I also use MDNIE tuner by gekke. I'm not sure whether this would work on exynos note 4's
Hi I have tried that but the results are not the same, it seem to only clip the colors.

Adaptive Brightness

Is anyone else having issues with adaptive brightness taking a while to adjust? I am on stock 8.0 with latest security update. When I open the phone it can take 3 seconds or so to apply before I can see the screen.
yes there is a problem, and it is even more irritating for me when in low light room i turn on the screen and it takes 3-4 sec to turn down the brightness
Yes, I have the same issue. Also, my friend has Xiaomi Mi A1 and he also has the same issue. The ambient light sensor responds slowly for some reason. My wife has Redmi Note 4X and its ambient light sensor is much better. Responds instantly when the light changes (e.g. exposing it to direct sunlight). Also, the screen is so much better on the Redmi Note 4X, I couldn't believe. I compared them side by side, and the whites are so white on Redmi Note 4X. On my Xiaomi Mi A1 the white is...yellow, wtf.

Are you sure night light isn't turned on on your phone ?
there are 2 types of screens used in Mi A1, and apparently one of them is showing yellowish colors like you described. the other one is much better and i am really satisfied with color reproduction even with the blacks (not like amoled ofc but really deep).

Of course not. It's just that the display on Redmi Note 4X has better color accuracy. Before I thought Mi A1 has identical hardware as Redmi Note 4X, buy it seems that's not the case.
By now the only thing that annoys me on my Mi A1 is this ambient light sensor being too slow. Apart from that, the phone is OK for the price.

I guess I wasn't the lucky one to get the "right" display.
Ok, after I posted this I turned up the brightness to 50% and still have adaptive switched on, it seems to have sorted it. Previously it was on 5% so maybe there is a bug there that is seeing what brightness setting level it is and adjusting that way and taking too long. Try it and see if it helps (or lower from 50%)

Mi A1 has identical hardware as Mi 5x. And you will be able to adjust the colour of the screen if you root (I'm not sure if it will make it better, because I've got the "right' display, so can't test it)

you can check which display is used in you phone by entering specific code in dialer (i cant remember the code :/), there you can see which components are used, 2 sets of different screens, memories and cameras( not 100% sure for this one) are used.

Did it and the app (Factorykit Test) hangs with a black screen on version info. I think all the other options are fine.
Does it work with the phone rooted with magisk with the stock rom+recovery?
Edit- disabling magisk and xposed solved the issue. The rear modules are OV12A10ii and OV13880ii.

Doesn't work with Xposed. Disable Xposed, reboot, do the tests and enable it again.
