Trying to flash VZW firmware on SM-G950U1 but not sure which firmware to use - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

A co-worker of mine just had their office moved and no longer gets cell phone reception in their new office. I tried to help them enable calling/sms over wifi but it looks like they have the samsung firmware on their phone and are on verizons network, and she'll need the verizon firmware installed to enable calling and sms over wifi. I tried to flash the verizon firmware to her phone with Odin but the flash failed. The firmware currently on her phone is G950u1UEU5CRH3, which leads me to believe that she currently has a version 5 bootloader installed, and the VZW firmware I tried to use was for bootloader V2. Is there a stock verizon firmware I can download that will work with the bootloader version she currently has?

We're you able to flash the firmware you found and did it get your friend wifi calling, VoLTE, etc?
I'm trying to do the same thing but load ATT but I'm afraid of doing something wrong and brick my phone.

[UK] Unlocked S7 Edge - Enable EE features?

Hi folks,
So as in iPhone user, i've been following the latest Galaxy very closely and decided to take the plunge on Sunday!
Suffice to say, sat in front of me at the moment is my first Samsung (I went for the Edge).
I'm on EE, so i'd like to know how I go about enabling Wi-Fi calling (and VoLTE when it launches - although i'm aware it's testing in several areas at the moment) on my device. I bought it unlocked, direct from Samsung - which probably explains why I can't see the settings for it?
I've ready that I may have to flash the firmware with the EE version to get the features - my concern with that though is tripping Knox, as i'd like to use Samsung Pay when it launches.
Is there a method of enabling the features without flashing the firmware?
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

i wouldnt if i were you. i tried that with apple pay in australia and it didnt work. its region locked. wait for the official launch.
for me, my ban offers nfc payments through the phone so i can wait abit for samsung pay to arrive in australia and if im lucky, they will give out free stuff like in america.
i never tried volte calling. but you can always use whats app and stuff.
Its safe to do so,
I bought my S7 Edge from the Samsung store, and flashed the EE firmware, it doesn't trip knox, only custom changes will trip knox, So rooting/custom recoveries and such. its safe to flash the EE firmware. and WI-FI calling working for me, (How to enable WiFI calling). as we speak. But I did do a factory reset(delete everything) after flashing to make sure the CSC for EE was installing correctly.

Ah - just what I wanted to hear
Can you tell me if the EE firmware comes with loads of bloat? Also, will OTA updates work, or will I have to manually flash them when released (I'm sure I read that auto-updates don't work if flashing a different firmware - although I could have misconstrued that).
Thanks

Auto-update will work, but you will have to wait for EE to push the updates out. so might be a delay until they release them, Only difference from buying the phone from EE or Samsung is the firmware, So if you flash the whole phone and factory reset in recovery, its pretty much a EE phone. be warned sometimes WiFi calling will not work until you call up EE and ask them to activate it on your handset, (and that can be a funny conversation, since you didn't buy the phone from them but I managed to talk my way around it on my S6 edge+), And on my S7 Edge it seems to already be enabled after I flashed the EE firmware and enabled in the phone settings.
It's a shame that we still have to install carrier specific firmware to access these things. I thought I heard samsung had overcome this?
Some articles suggested that the S7 could install carrier specific software upon detection of SIM accordingly. This doesn't appear to be the case. I have just had to flash H3G firmware. BTW op it didn't trip KNOX

It is a bit rubbish really - it's one good thing Apple has over android imho. I know Google are trying to go down the same route with Carrier Updates - but they're gonna have to grow a pair if they're going to get anywhere with it.
Anyway, thanks kossiewossie - just finished flashing mine. Hoping I haven't tripped Knox (not checked yet, it's restoring my Google Account backup).
To flash the firmware is it just a case of downloading the EE firmware from sammobile and using Odin to flash it? Because I know for the S6 there was an issue where the partitions were different between the EE version and the unlocked version meaning you had to get hold of a PIT file to flash the EE firmware. Is that still the case?
I'm also considering doing the same. I'm on EE but it came through a re-seller so I've got stock Samsung firmware.
Other than the delay in updates being released, is there any other reason why not to do this? Are you able to flash back the BTU version if you grow tired of waiting for carrier updates and don't end up making the use of wifi calling?

The only benefit I see with the EE firmware is Wifi calling, but as I am in a fantastic reception area, I do not need it. Therefore I see no other reason to use the EE firmware and prefer updates as soon as they are released.
Yes, if you grow tired of waiting for carrier updates, you can flash back to BTE/XEU firmware.
I can't speak for EVR firmware. I used Samfirm to download 4 file H3G firmware and I was not asked for a PIT file.
Interesting there are PIT files included in the files if you unpack them so maybe this was used?
Having downloaded the EE firmware I'm a little confused with Odin.
I have:
AP...
BL...
CP...
CSC_EVR...
Home_CSC_EVR...
Do I need to select all of these within Odin? If so, which CSC as there seems to be two? Sorry if this is a stupid question....

When I did it last night, within Odin I selected files for AP, BL, CP and for CSC - CSC_EVR. I didn't use the Home_CSC_EVR file.
Knowing my luck, i've probably done it wrong - although my phone does seem to be running fine!!
I'm too cautious about flashing the wrong one lol. I'll wait until we know the difference I think!
Edit: Flashed it with the standard CSC. All seems well.
I flashed the standard csc myself and all seems well for over a day now. Would still like to know what the home csc file is for.
Edit. Just found out that home_csc doesn't contain the pit file so it doesn't wipe the phone. So would have to use the standard CSC when changing firmware.

Hello everyone
So i got AT&T note4 SM-N910A on a good deal about 135$ yesterday and its unlocked running on android 5.0.1 lollipop i just want to flash 6.0.1 marshmallow stock via ODIN but i afraid if i flash another stock rom it will get network locked and i know deep down so far this thing is not rootable. so please anyone know exactly is it safe to upgrade from 5.0.1 to 6.0.1 without messing anything up because its running a modified firmware with lot of languages included and all blotware/bootanimation/tethering hotspot unlocked etc from AT&T removed.
Here are some screenshots to help understand the device i got.
TIA
EDIT-I FLASHED STOCK 6.0.1 AND EVERYTHING WORKS FINE

Now that you mention it, I did get that error on my T-Mobile Note 3 a while ago. I upgraded to the latest version via Odin (I also live outside the US) and the phone is unlocked, but I kept getting invalid T-Mobile SIM inserted and didn't get any data.
Fortunately, my plan wasn't to go back to stock, only to test GPS (Google Maps) on stock. After that, I went immediately to a custom ROM and did not get that error any more.
Hope you don't get it xD
Good day :good:

I tried something new and I have interesting results.
I installed a Firmware U, it is a version of android 7. I installed it by odin and everything well without problems. When I restarted I put the SIM and it told me that I had to restart to configure the options of my operator. It restarted without problem and to my surprise it CONTINUES without Signal. In '' Access Point Name '' the APN of my operator's MMS has been created ONLY and AUTOMATICALLY. I did not set it up, it came out alone.
I still do not understand what problem this phone has. There are several people reporting similar problems with the upgrade to Oreo even in other S7 EDGE models.
Any ideas?????

[HELP] G950U confusion

I recently bought a used S8 from a friend, it's all great and I am liking it so far but I wanted to root it and install a custom rom on it, or flash the stock One UI rom at least.
So I was looking around and see which carrier phone it is, since I am not in US so it didn't matter to me
I went into Download Mode and the carrier there says TMB but if I search the baseband version (G950USQS5CRF5) on the google, it says its Verizon, so I am confused that which carrier version is my phone exactly.
and can I just flash the stock One UI rom (for TMobile) ignoring the version that I have.
Sorry if I posted in the wrong section.

No put your tmobile sim in and it should auto select its own csc which is for carrier selection and reboot. If not download the latest firmware from sammobile and select the tmobile one and flash.
These devices are awesome at selecting on their own. My wife's rebooted and installed verizons csc all on it's own
Should be a screen says new sim inserted please restart to use

N986U Android 11 Firmware works on Rogers (Canadian) N986W

Just flashed the latest version of Android 11, and it works flawlessly. Just have to install a Rogers CSC to it and you'll get 5G aswell.
My phone says it is now a N986U device instead of N986W.
If you have any questions, post them.

How?
The 986W version isn't going to be released until Jan 5th so you can download the 986U version from this site and install it with ODIN. Don't do this if you don't understand how to use tools like this, especially if you like your phone...

Did you have to change your CSC? Did you pick HOME for your CSC during the download? I noticed the *#272*IMEI# method to change your CSC doesn't work on the NOTE 20. Regardless, I see my phone still sees 5G. CSC right now is OYN??

Sorry for the late reply. I found the Rogers CSC by googling "Rogers Note 20 ultra Rogers Stock firmware"
I downloaded the whole 6gb file, but only used the Home_CSC from Rogers and used it with ODIN after I got the ATT update.
Have had no issues at all, and One UI 3.0 is a blessing.
