Want to change my LG g3 to Lg g6 - LG G6 Questions and Answers

Hello guys, I am overall happy with my G3, but I want a newer phone. I read som good reviews about this phone.
I also read about some customers that had issue with Your device is corrupt etc. <-- What is this all about and is there a fix for this?
I will root and put custom rom on this phone. My Lg g3 has gotten a little bit hot sometimes when working hard or charging wireless. How is this phone, anny heat issues?
Is there any other issues I should read about before I buy?
Thanks,
regards Morten

I upgraded from lg g3 to g6 and love it!
Unlocking boitloader and rooting was easy.
Sooo much better than g3.
Matt.

Hey, I see you're Norwegian, so you're probably going to buy the h870 model. Just keep in mind that only the h870, us997 and h872 models can be bootloader unlockable.

i dont know if you gonna update your G3 for G6 because your are on the budget, but if you dont have limitations is rather better buying V35 or V30S (even V30), the reason is: more features, OLED display and so on...
G6 is good dont get me wrong, i have it and love it, but if i know today, i rather put more 150 and go by V30 just because the camera and hifi DAC, is a major updates from G6 to V30.
Trust me, when you go for V series you never want to go back to G series, since V is more complete, have a lot of better features for people who like to have them is a must go and i am sure you will enjoy it more.

If on a budget...go for G6....huge improvement over G3.
If not on a budget then don't buy V30 or V35...wait for V40.
Matt.

Even thinking this way, remember LG phones price drop so quickly so, when V40 came out V30 will be under 450 if not under 400, and this is some value for money phone, not like V40 because that will be at 799/699 at the launch and people dont need to wait for a little improvement phone and overpay for a minimum upgraded phone.
Here is easy, if they like G6 and can grab it for good money then is a go, if the difference between G6 and V30 is little then go for V30.
V40 is at least a month or two away, for what? a bump from SD835 to SD845, little better display, little better camera?! At the time they release them isnt worth that much money.
I think people buy LG phones because price is good, and of course is on a budget side...if people arent on the budget and have money to spend is easy to see what they gonna buy: shamesh*t, crapple or one of the more advanced phones out (NEX S, Find X)...but that is people who like to overpay for something who dont have the value they are paying for.
* im not saying bad or good from anything, is just my opinion and my thoughts.

Hello guys, thanks for all your answears. yes I am on budget. I can afford to buy new flagship, but I think its waste of money. And new phones doesnt have much android development support either. Lg G6 is cheap on used marked, and I have been happy with my G3 for the years I have had it.
I have also been looking on Xiaomi mi mix 2 that has 6 gb ram compared to 4 gb ram same price used. Seems like a decent phone also. But its missing wireless charging.
My G3 never had good Wireless charging. There was allot of heat made when charging, so If I used it at the same time it would crash/get to hot sometimes. So I stopped using it. Is it still the same with G6? If it is, I do not care to much about wireless charging.
Yes I am from Norway. Is H870 the norweigan model or european model? For me it is a must to open bootloader.

WAIT! European LG G6 didnt have wireless charging, if you want wireless charging you need to buy a US variant, thats only one who have it so...be cautious when buying something you didnt know about.

Hey all. Just started this thread for all the uk people to congregate Getting ever closer to the release date.
Unfortunately I've only just got a G2 on contract a couple of months ago. So unless the G3 is competitively priced I will be staying with my G2. I'm very happy with it I just get jealous and want the newest when I see there's an upgrade ha ha.

I am in a similar situation. I'm still using my Nexus 4 (great device) but looking to upgrade once it's nearing 2 years old. The price is a huge factor in what device I'll upgrade to. I'm sold if it's <£350 but my hopes aren't that high to be honest.

I have the M8 and I am going to get either the G3 or the OnePlus ONE. The M8 is a good phone but it hasn't really wowed me. I prefer the design of the original HTC One, I would rather have 32GB internal instead of 16GB+MicroSD, the camera isn't particularly good and the build quality has been a bit dodgy. It picks up small scratches and nicks really easily. Whilst HTC Sense is one of the nicer UI's the new LG Optimus UI is looks great based on the leaks. The only real positive I can say about the M8 was the battery life which was solid.
hoping for SD 805 (slim chance)
but minimum must be waterproof, have an SD card, good camera and a 3000mah battery....
due my upgrade today from my s3 but still not 100% on the LG g3 till the launch announcement.

I'll stick with LG from now just because of the battery on the G2. I've had a LOT of android devices in the past few years and never seen one like it that just keeps going and going. I double the screen on time i got out of my N4.

What do you reckon to the size of the m8? My biggest concern about the g3 is size at the mo. Will have to hold it in my hand and see. It looks about the same size as the m8 but wider, that's why I ask.

I just don't know what to do at the moment. Still have my Galaxy S3 and love it but been thinking of upgrading and passing it on to my wife.
Been looking at pre owned handsets on eBay like the HTC One M7 & LG G2, then started looking at the new HTC One M8 and now the LG G3 has caught my interest along with the OnePlus One. Only thing that's putting me off slightly is the SIZE!
Need to buy Sim free as don't want to be tied in to a contract. Will wait and see on expected price of the G3. Does look nice with the metal body.... :good:

The M8 size isn't too bad to be honest. So I assume the G3 will be fine for me.

I do love my M8 but my new-phone-a-holic tendencies might have me looking at this, especially if the £450 SIM-free price I've seen bandied about it true...either that or get a OnePlus One when they're more readily available (or the next Nexus, etc...)

that £450 price is most likely for a 2GB/16GB version. I had an M8 for a week and returned it because I couldn't get over how big the phone was for the screen size.. just too much wasted space and the stereo speakers aren't worth the sacrifice to me.
According to rumors, the next Nexus, which is going to be called Silver, is slated for February. And the OnePlus probably won't be readily available for another month or two outside of China. Hopefully the G3 has an availability soon.
If I was to go back to Android I would most likely pick the G3 at the moment, but I am a bit suspect about its size.

LG is gonna die pulling crap like this

So, LG opened pre-orders for the G5 in Indonesia earlier this week. First big mistake: taking too long to release the phone. The S7's been out since March 25.
Second mistake: The G5 here is the SE variant, model number H845. The SD652 has smooth CPU performance, but reportedly struggles with graphics-intensive tasks, and is a high-tier, but not flagship chip, AT best.
Third mistake: the G5 is launching here merely 300,000 IDR (~21USD) cheaper than the S7 at off-contract prices (~586 USD), which is just expensive for an LG flagship. I know plenty of people who've bought LGs in the past because of their affordable pricesm, but that ain't happening this time around. As points to compare, the G4 launched at ~623 USD, but had so many pre-order discounts, bonuses and rebates that a friend of mine secured one at ~490 USD at launch, while my dad bought the G2 at ~500 USD a week after it launched. Both of these people have told me they bought an LG over Samsung simply because the price was cheaper. Not because the LG was a better phone (which was arguably true back during the G2 days).
Last year, LG also had the unique advantage of shipping the first dual SIM flagship on the market (Indonesians go nuts over dual SIM phones because no single provider has great coverage: one comes close; it's the one I use; but they all have plenty of room for improvement), and the benefit of shipping with microSD support when Samsung had just dropped it. Samsung now has both on its S7 (not both at the same time though, not sure about LG)
Now, the general consensus is that the S7 is far and away the better phone. The G5 (SE) is shipping two months late with an inferior chipset and none of the advantages the G4 had, which already didn't do that well. All LG has is a slightly better camera, removable battery and a minor price advantage to back it up, while Samsung has name recognition, better battery life, IP68 water resistance, the most powerful mobile chip on the market, much wider availability than LG does, the support of the nation's largest carrier, a huge advertising budget and not to mention trade-up events that rack up huge lines and press coverage every so often, keeping people locked into its ecosystem. LG also had the advantage of getting Marshmallow out the door earlier than Samsung, but that's likely not gonna happen this year with it being the less widely-released SE model. Had LG at least come out with the SD820 model at the same price, my tune may have been different, but not so.
It's not that I'm hating on LG. I love the company - my first Android phone and tablet were BOTH LG-made, and I think the V10 was the best Android smartphone you could buy last year. I'm also looking forward to that phone's successor. But LG's Indonesian arm better prepare for a disappointment.
Sorry to hear that but maybe don't pull the trigger yet. LG included freebies with LG G5 in various regions, such as Cam Plus module, extra battery / cradle kit, etc. You've waited this long already. I upgraded all my family phones to LG G5, I probably would have gone with a LG G5 SE, if there was some good reasonable cost savings.

Oh I didnt wait. I pulled the trigger on the S7 in March, (correctly) assuming the G5 would cost less and that if it was the better phone, I could sell the S7 and get the G5 for only a minor extra price. That price, while a little higher than I expected, would've been OK had it shipped with the 820.

Wait some, they may release the H860 after which is what you want.

Is it worth buying a used G2 right now? (2016-2017)

Since my Xperia ZR got broke a while ago. I don't have any enough money to buy a good brand new smartphone. There's a shop at my place where G2s are being sold (F320 model). And that's the best one I can afford (costs around $80). Is it still worth buying G2? I don't play games on a phone. I'll only use it to check emails, listen to music, and for social media purposes. This is the best one I can afford right now and that prices of smartphones here in my country (Philippines) are inflated. All your opinions are much appreciated. Thanks you.
In my opinion it's still a great phone to have, I still have one as my daily driver (D802) and it works like a charm, even for today's standards
I would go for it
f320. Great phone. Also you can buy a second battery.
I love it.
Sent from my Galaxy Tab 2 using Tapatalk
go for D800 or D802 so you can install dorimanx kernel
I think yes. I own it from 6 months, used phone
I have used these phones in chronology
Alcatel one touch glory 2s pro
Alcatel one touch glory 2s
Xperia M
Xperia SP
Redmi 1S
Redmi 2
Mi 3
Grand Prime
Redmi 3(bought this 2 times)
LG G2
,
it basically has the performance of a SD800, its really smooth, compared to all of my previous phones , its definitely an all rounder
-performance
-battery life
-camera( dont expect much like in its phone reviews and youll be happy)
-community ROM support(one of the best I ever had)
In my country (malaysia) , secondhand LG G2 are sold at quite a low price, around that price (80USD), the first time I researched a good phone was this and I was just shocked it having a really low price point, it really shows that people(including casuals) dont see this phone because its from the 2013 and its LG(to casuals they only know LG as appliance company lol). I was skeptic as thinking it might be a bad phone and for as little as 80usd you can get this performance im sold.
been using it for about 2 month now
I used a G2 D802 and a G2 VS980. Great phones, with a good choice of custom ROMs
Sent from my LG-D851 using Tapatalk
Keep in mind that a 3 years old phone could have lost a third of its battery capacity. Mine did.
Definitely a good buy

Wow, they are pretty cheap there ,here in Serbia I bought mine d802 16GB for around 150$ and its beaten pretty much

I would recommend this phone. Best phone for me.
It performs like a new mid ranged device. Even better than some of them. It also has 1080p and 3000mAh so I would say it is still a good phone. I bought one for 100e used it even had foil on the side like it's new.

Best phone for +-300

My little cousin is looking for something in the range of 300, I'm pushing them toward swappa and telling him to research some things that he has enough money for but can you guys find something you would recommend for that price range? I'm leaning towards a Nexus 6 because I loved that phone. He brought up HTC m9

I would be really wary of buying a used Nexus 6P. There were obviously quality control issues with this phone. Too many people with boot loop and battery issues who need to RMA. Without a warranty you could end up with a paperweight.

Moto G4 Plus looks really good for a $279 price tag. The one major drawback is no NFC. But he can get a brand new phone with decent specs and a warranty.

I had a g4 plus (moto) before i bought a nexus 6p. All i can say is it is one kf the best phones that i used.
No issues at all. Running great up to now.
go for moto x pure edition 64 gb with great dual speaker at $260 best buy on sale
Depends what carrier you're on.
The Google Phones get updates faster than the moto phones of course. I would recommend the Moto Phones if he either a) knows how to unlock bootloader and flash custom roms, or b) doesn't care about stock updates. Moto is generally notorious for lack of updates.
If you're on GSM, could always get a OnePlus device.

Nexus 6p is great and in many peoples opinions one of the best phones currently out. It is very customisable and easy to use with good battery. Also if your cousin is into nodding then this is one of the best phones for stuff like custom roms etc. I would highly recommend this phone because last I checked it was around 300. I bought mine from the google store almost a year ago for 300-320. Can't remember exactly. Good luck searching.

Hello,
I would like to know when the LG G6+ releases in Europe but i can't seem to find any info on that.
Could someone tell me what the releasedate is in Europe and what the phone is going to cost?
I'm in the market for a new phone, at the moment i have a LG G3 and i think the G6+ is a worthy successor.

Just buy the H870DS model from somewhere like eglobalcentral.eu and you get pretty much everything the + model has bar the extra ram. Given the G6 DS model has 64gb storage and Quad Dac at less than €380 right now, if and when the G6+ launches in Europe you will be looking at a recommended retail price of around €759, pretty much double .....

I agree with you pricewise but the H870DS can't be unlocked and i find this a big deal.
I would like to run a near stock rom in the future. Running OwnROM on my G3 at the moment.
Uhg.. It's so hard to choose a new phone to use for the next 3 to 4 years.

I'm in the same situation as you, also have a g3 and looking for a replacement...
I would have bought the g6 already, but i hate that it has only 32gb of space (i like to mod my phone and always have a twrp backup on it) :/
DS falls out of the picture because of locked bootloader and no official support for this variant in europe in respect to warranty...
And now i'm waiting for g6+. I think/hope it will arrive to europe in a month.
But if the price will be to high, I will probably wait to see v30 specs and price to decide
