How to enable VoLTE (and WIFI calling) on HTC U11 unbranded phone - stock rom - HTC U11 Guides, News, & Discussion

I have HTC U11 CID 034, stock rom and my carrier support VoLTE and WIFI calling. Because I have unbranded phone I cannot turn on this functions. Today I found out how to enable this and it works. Everything is easy and it took less than 5 minutes to activate it. Your carrier must support this features and need to activate VoLTE and WIFI calling for you.

cant seem to find an mns code for usa at&t, any help? none of the built in xmls are for anything usa either. also can this be used to activate 1mb mms messages because i see some settings in there for the inbuilt 100-300k sizes, would adding a line for 1000k actually work or no?

You can download from Google Play eg. Netmonitor and check your carrier number.

In case of twitter instability or the information getting lost, here's what LlabTooFeR said:
1. You need to edit lines in \system\customize\MNS xml files
2. Find applicable MNS file, for example 26207.xml -O2
If you can't find it, use this page to find the code http://www.numberportabilitylookup.com/networks?s=
3. Once you find it, create xml with proper name (just take other file and copy it)
Then you need to add these lines https://pastebin.com/pt7mMwQ8
If your xml never existed, you need to add it into MNS map, system\customize\mns_map.xml
For example we do it for Afghanistan 41240 Areba
We need to add following line
<item name="41240">41240.xml</item>

i cant run it from dual sim india sid 60

Hmmm wondering how I could do it for freedom mobile at Canada. On my OnePlus 5.
There is no customize folder in system. Where OnePlus hide their files

works on CMCC network China
choose 45403 xml (a HK mobile company), works on CMCC( china mobile), LeeDroid v3.4.
Don't know how to enable on China unicom network.

I've tried Asia Taiwan, India and Emea devices. But calling wifi and the volte was not active.
Is there another way? or where is the error.!

Hi,
If root, open :
/system/customize/ACC/default.xml
Édit default. XML and replace all items "Volte>false" by "true"

Hello, maybe someone can help me, I'm trying to enable VoLTE and VoWiFi on my HTC U11+, non-carrier version,
European Dual-SIM version, CID HTC__034, with unlocked bootloader, and rooted by Magisk patched boot image,
for my carrier Orange Romania, 226 10. The SIM card is already provisioned, tested in another phone and worked flawlessly.
I've already tried everything that I saw on this thread, modified in /system/customize/acc the default.xml file, but also HTC__034.xml,
with both files but also with each one by itself. Also tried to add my carrier config file in in /system/customize/mns, 22610.xml, based on 226.xml
which was already present there, and added it to mns_map.xml. So far nothing worked, I get the toggles in Settings->Call, but neither
functionality works. Also debugged with Network Signal Guru, and I don't see the ims APN registering.
I see here in the opening post the LlabTooFeR method is mentioned, but the only the changes to /system/customize/acc are suggested further,
then are the changes in /system/customize/mns necessary or not ? And the xml parameters to change are actually different between LlabTooFeR and OP,
then which one are correct ?
But where are the actual apn settings for the carrier network ?, in which file.
For the people that succeeded, was the ims APN added automatically by the phone or did you add it yourself ?
Did anyone succeeded for an Orange carrier in any country ?
Thank you for any suggestions or tips.

Finally Volte working on HTC U11
Thanks to 8bitbang Finally I was able to get VOLTE working on HTC U11 J15 unlocked version by following these steps.
1.) Downloaded the attachment provided.
2.) Extract the zip and copy default.xml files from MNS & ACC folder and paste files into device MNS & ACC folder situated in system/customize.
3.) Delete all other files except default.xml from MNS & ACC folder.
4.) Reboot the device and it's done
I tested on JIO network (India carrier) and it worked flawlessly.

Did you have to Contact the Carrier to have them add you to the VoLTE network? Or just changing the files worked?

HTC U11 was already supported by my carrier so it was a matter of getting VOLTE settings right.
BTW I also tested with another VOLTE carrier which doesn't support HTC U11 and as expected it didn't work. So carrier must recognize your handset.

Anyone managed this on an AOSP-based ROM?

This works for HTC m10?
Unlocked version, carrier: Telekom Romania.
Please help me.

[Q] wifi tether / mobile hotspot

Does the froyo mobile hotspot works on an unlocked Droid 2 global? Let's say in Chile with a chilean SIM?
(On my nexus one using 1900 mhz Entel Chile works well)
Yes, buid in one works fine.
But you need to create APN for the tethering "dun" type.
D2g will not let you create it manually due to Verizon restriction but you can use app from market (apn backup restore) to backup existing ones, edit on your computer to add the type, then restore. Works perfectly on my Rogers Droid 2 Global
You don't even need root to implement the 'hack'. If you have root, you don't need any app, just edit straight on the phone.
Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL
Leobg would u be so kind and briefly tell me the procedures to get that mobile hotspot working on my d2g with Rogers? I dunno what that dun type is, I tried googling it but failed thank u very much in advance!!

[Guide] Tmobile N3 on AT&T's Network the Unofficial Developer Edition, CM11/KitKat

[Guide] Tmobile N3 on AT&T's Network the Unofficial Developer Edition, CM11/KitKat
This is for people who have AT&T Service and are looking at the T-Mobile US Note 3 (N900T).
Why are people wanting to use a T-Mobile Note 3 on AT&T?
Because AT&T, much like Verizon, has tried to lock down their phones making it very difficult to use custom ROM's or apps that require root. AT&T and Tmobile's networks are similar. The N9005 is not an option since it does not have the required LTE bands. The N900T (Tmobile Note 3) is bootloader unlocked. More on that later. The progress made on the N900A is shown below. Note the limitations because of the locked bootloader.
As of 10/7/2013 root has been obtained for Jellybean AT&T version which is being phased out. This will not trip the trip the KNOX warranty counter.
As of 12/5/2013 custom ROMS can be flashed to the old Jellybean AT&T version. No kernel flashing.* If you don't have an Odin version of your stock ROM do not try this. This does not trip the KNOX warranty counter.
As of 12/16/2013 Safestrap is available for the AT&T version. This will allow you to flash custom ROMS but not kernels.*
As of 1/21/2014 KitKat is available for the N900A.
As of 6/15/2014 a simple root app was made available by geohot. Geohot used an exploit discovered in the linux kernel. It took nearly 5 months for root to be obtained on this update. If you are an AT&T customer I would seriously consider switching to T-mobile completely and not give your support to AT&T. This will be the norm for new phones going forward from AT&T. This current root exploit has already been patched in the latest kernel. So again, no current root method will work in future updates. If you are forced to use AT&T as a carrier like me, this guide is for you.
*Custom kernels still remain out of reach at this point for the AT&T version. The bootloader is still locked. This means no AOSP based ROMS like Cyanogenmod, and future versions of Android with its associated kernel will only be available for the AT&T version when AT&T releases it or there is an AT&T leak.
Does the T-Mobile Note 3 support ALL bands used by AT&T?
Yes it supports all bands used by AT&T. Full compatibility.
What bands does the T-Mobile Note 3 support? Is it good for traveling outside the US?
The phone supports a large number of bands from the US, Canada and Europe. This was taken from the back of the box.
GSM: 850, 900, 1800, 1900 UMTS: Band 1 (2100), Band 2 (1900), Band 4 (1700), Band 5 (850)
LTE: Band 4 (1700), Band 17 (700), Band 1 (2100), Band 2 (1900), Band 5 (850), Band 7 (2600)
Bands 900, 1800 and 1900 give good coverage in Europe but you will need to verify what bands the foreign carrier uses.
LTE bands 3 and 7 are the most popular in Europe. This phone does not have LTE band 3.
What does carrier/SIM locked mean? Is it the same as bootloader locked?
No. US phones that operate on GSM networks require a SIM card. The carriers don't want you taking your phone to another carrier without fulfilling your contract so they lock your phone to themselves and the SIM cards they offer. Once you fulfill your contract or pay for the phone in full they should be willing to issue you an unlock code. Some carriers like T-mobile make you wait 45 days after you buy the device to unlock it. SIM unlocking the phone will allow you to put a SIM card from another carrier in the phone. See the next question if T-mobile will not unlock your new Note 3.
How can I carrier/SIM unlock my T-mobile Note 3 if T-mobile won't?
Several people have used cellunlocker.net including me. Select U.S.A. T-Mobile and N900T as your device. This also removes any region lock. Chainfire also has an app that is used for the region lock on international phones that has the side effect of SIM unlocking the T-mobile note 3. This works by patching the modem. It requires root. Info on rooting can be found below.
Will LTE work on AT&T?
Many people have confirmed that LTE works. There is no speed difference between an AT&T branded phone and the Note 3. Documents obtained from the FCC and also on T-Mobile's site say it supports the frequencies used by AT&T. Do NOT give AT&T your IMEI to your Tmobile Note 3. If you do, AT&T's system will remove your LTE data even though it works perfectly. Give them another AT&T Android IMEI if you have to or if you are coming from an Android phone don't even talk to them. Just remove the SIM in your old phone and put it in your new phone. If you mess up and give them the IMEI some people have gone to the store and gotten the IMEI off the demo unit then gone home and called ATT to change the IMEI. You can also get an AT&T Android LTE IMEI from a family member or friend's phone. It will not effect their service in any way. One user also reported explaining the issue to a rep that changed the default plan and manually made it a plan with LTE. I'm not sure that a lot of reps on AT&T's front line know how to do this though.

Root, custom recoveries, roms, and kernels for the T-mobile US Note 3
Warning: Flash roms at your own risk. Do NOT flash a N900 rom or a N9005 rom unless the dev has specifically stated that it will work with the N900T. These could have different bootloaders, modems, kernels and other files that are not compatible with our Note 3.
The T-Mobile Note 3 has a dev community that is very large and growing rapidly. You have plenty of options to customize just about everything available on your Note 3. You can flash roms and kernels that give you extended run time and overclocking. We can even cut out the carriers and flash international roms with some modifications so we can have the latest and greatest directly from Samsung. Using custom recoveries such as TWRP will trip the KNOX counter.
For TWRP recovery use this. This is the recommended recovery for the N900T and is the first step to flashing roms and kernels.
TWRP 2.7.0.0 TeamWin Recovery Project is available here.
If all you need is root use this.
CF Auto Root is available for the N900T (T-mobile).
For CWM recovery use this.
The first step is to flash a CWM recovery and can be found here. After that you can flash a pre-rooted ROM that is compatible with the N900T or flash SuperSU here.
Android 4.4 KitKat and Cyanogenmod (CM11)
The Samsung build of Android 4.4 Kitkat (has Touchwiz) has been released for the T-Mobile and international versions. Please visit the development forums to download the Kitkat rom of your choice based on Samsungs stock build.
CM11 is remarkably stable and fast on the Note 3. Cyanogenmod is a rom built off of source code released from Google (AOSP). Cyanogenmod version 11 (CM11) is based on Android 4.4 Kitkat. It is often the fastest way to get the latest Android releases from Google. Cyanogenmod supports phones long after they are abandon by the carriers and device makers. It comes with no carrier apps or bloat. CM11 for the Note 3 is my daily driver.
You will need a few things when flashing to Cyanogenmod.
1. Get the latest nightly from cyanogenmod.org.
2. Get the gapps "full modular package" from here. You will need to flash both the nightly and gapps .zip files in the recovery of your choice. (TWRP or CWM)
3. (optional) S-pen functionality add on for CM can be found here in the play store. You can also follow this guide for additional S-pen features.
4. (optional) You can use the new photosphere camera app that is here. This camera is only available on Nexus devices. It's supposed to have better stitching of photo's than previous apps. The stock CM11 camera app does not have photosphere.
5. (optional) A KNOX partial replacement is here. It is basically truecrypt for android. It creates an encrypted container and you can store sensitive files in it. Encryption and decryption is done on the fly so it is very fast.

This is helpful. I have a T-Mobile S3 unlocked on AT&T getting hspa+ and it always runs hot/warm, not sure if it's because it's not an AT&T phone. I just worry this may also be the case with a T-Mobile N3. I wonder if this is happening on T-Mobile S4 running on AT&T LTE. Would be great if someone can comment. Thanks

No problem!
Negri has stated that it is the same phone that you can buy in the store. So yes it is bootloader unlocked. There is a 25 day return policy. I'm using squaretrade. Squaretrade is cheaper but will only fix your phone up to the value of your policy so if you have multiple failures then they will not pay over the value of the policy.
Negri's return policy can be found here.

Apparently the CWM for the T-Mobile variant is not working at the moment because it is outdated. Thought this might be important.

I think he was just saying he didnt want to flash the one from 9/25 because the others are newer (9/29) and support exfat. I dont think it was a technical problem if you are referring to Diablohtr's post. That's what I thought anyway.

"This is a Question" - LG G2 Regional Carrier Menu

EDIT: Sorry, forgot to select the check-box indicating this was a question. This feature cannot be edited after the fact hence the title modification.
The LG G2 (model: LG-D801 and LG-D803) are sold in Canada. The LG-D801 model is the same variant sold my T-Mobile (USA) but both models have identical specs. and have been crippled as for the agreement between LG and the specific mobile vendors. The LG-801 does have the LTE capability but being crippled, even if the device is "unlocked" with correct APN settings, the fastest speed received will be 4G. When you go into your network options, 4 modems should be present:
LTE/WCDMA/GSM (auto connect)
WCDMA/GSM (auto)
WCDMA (auto)
GSM (auto)
Unfortunately, the LG-D801 model has the LTE modem crippled and in order to enable, you must flash the appropriate carrier ROM and change the regional settings to reflect your LTE carrier otherwise the modem will not enable. I do know some have been lucky with LTE enabling but for the most part, this is not the case.
I know with Samsung Galaxy Note 3, there's a dial-pad sequence you enter to get into the CSC menu to change your carrier. I also know you can install any variant of ROM onto this device for model: SM-N900W8 and it will work.
My question are:
■ Can I install the Telus LG-D803 ROM onto my WIND LG-D801 device without bricking and if so, is there a good instructional guide on how to do so?
■ Is there a recovery program such as TWRP which I can install?
■ Once installed, the KEY point is whether or not anyone knows the regional dial-pad code? This will change the carrier settings to reflect the newly installed ROM so it will unlock the LTE modem and other options specific to the carrier.
Thank you!
Refer to thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2493652&page=3 for my opinion and conclusion. Thanks!

Please help me, can't use other carrier sim on G930V

Hi guys, last night I trade in my S6 for S7.
That guy told me the phone is sim unlocked, I just need to manually adding APN and it will work. I am too stupid not to try with my sim.
I am in Malaysia, S7 variant should be G930F, but it's G930V, I tried two different carriers with manually input APN but the signal icon still blank with a cross:crying:
Besides, whenever I change network mode, it will revert to Global.
I can't select network operator too.
Is there any method to get it works with my local carrier? Flash rom from G930V to G930U or change IMEI will works?

Flash the "U" unlocked firmware on it. Looks like the phone is locked to Verizon. I would strongly recommend against changing the IMEI because that can add a lot of unnecessary complications.

Currently on Verizon Offiicial Nougat 7.0 G930VVRU4BQC5
phones out of country with other networks, and att USA since note 2 came out.
I currently have s7 too and it travelled with me out of country as well no problems, I get 4g in most places, if not 3g until I can get to fast WiFi.
Ur carrier data bands must not be matching or phones damaged, in my expert opinion.
Once u put other carriers sim u either request carrier to send u apn via text msg where u just open it and it gives u option to save it.
Or the Sim itself will/should have those settings in it. And upon inserting sim then going to where apns are added, u may be able to select it.
A quick Google of bands of ur network can tell u, but I'm optimistic only a very few bands are missing off g930v/g935v
Edit: Yes Verizon phones work on gsm in global mode
There is another option in there LTE/GSM/UMTS
U will have to experiment between global or the one above mentioned, does the trick for me all the time

Boost Mobile Moto E4 XT1766 MOT1766ABB on Tello

Have anyone had success with using Boost Mobile Moto E4 (Stock) on other MVNO like Tello? I did a device swap over Tello's website. After PRL / Profile Update, I was able to make phone calls. But data does not work at all. I update PRL/Profile with Wi-Fi off, and the LTE symbol is seen. But after that, it disappeared and I get no data at all.
Hi Nookin, this worked for me: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e4/how-to/guide-add-edit-apns-ncq26-69-64-sperry-t3822394
I used the APNs from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/general/help/tello-apn-settings-t3409432
Added these for the "Sprint mms" APN:
MMS port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 120
Everything now works for me, calls/data/mms. Good luck!

Did you do it after installing the last OTA? From what I am reading, I need to root my phone just to get to the APN menu?
I am thinking of paying someone on eBay to do it. The listing seem to claim that I can use the phone for domestic GSM carriers too.

Yup, I did this after the last OTA update (NCQS26.69-64-10). Yes, root is required to get to the APN menu. By adding the APNs, calls/texts/data now works for me on Tello.
I was able to use the Boost Moto E4 on Ting (T-Mobile MVNO) by: unlock the bootloader, install twrp, and install a custom rom (RR or Lineage).
I believe GSM carriers only work with a custom rom; because the stock rom is what carrier/sim locks the phone. Since Boost and Tello uses Sprint's network, they can be used with the stock rom.
This post says recent OTA (NCQS26.69-64-8) blocks the ability to use other carriers with custom ROM:

I don't know if reflashing to earlier build can make it work or not.

My phone is on 64-10 and Tello works. I think the recent OTA update only blocks GSM carriers. Carriers that use Sprint's network are fine (e.g. Tello)
I had the Boost phone rooted and APN changed to work on Tello. But I made a mistake of taking the latest OTA. What can I do to restore?
Update: I managed to boot the phone again after using the following instruction:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4/help/troubleshooting-twrp-boot-loop-ota-t3714325
My phone still ended up wiped of any data (factory reset). I don't know if it is because of that or something the phone owner done earlier.
