Here's the variant I use on my V35, its intended for the G7 but works fine on V35 as well.

Gcam's detail and range is perhaps better, yet the color may be equally upsetting depending on the scene:

Camera2 api

It looks like we have full support of camera 2 api.
try snap camera from the store it have a option to enable..used the app if I was on aosp rom with the m8
Good to see
I forget where, but this was actually confirmed a looooooong time ago (well... long in tech time. Couple of weeks ago though).
I thought that since Samsung doesn't offer shutter speed control in pro mode that they didn't enable the full camera 2 api.

Hi,
According to the person who wrote this article, it seems that the camera2 api is not fully supported at the moment :
http://spectrastudy.com/camera2-api-on-mwc-2015-devices/
The manual camera checks would then bit too enthusiastic if this is true.
Can anyone who has manual camera installed try to take a picture in RAW and post the DNG file here?
I couldn't find any S6 DNG file on the web; it would be great if someone could confirm whether it is really possible to shoot in RAW with the S6.
With a Nexus 5, the 3 following apps can shoot in RAW :
- a better camera (there is a free version with limited number of shots in case)
- camera fv-5 (paid app)
- manual camera (paid app)

It does, but due to driver limitations, the longest shutter you can choose in Manual Camera app is 1/10. The longest shutter the S6 and edge is allowed to use (when ISO is manually set in the stock camera app) is 1/7. And when Manual Camera opens, WB is all green, so you need to long press WB to make it normal. There is now RAW support wither.
Right now the best camera SW for the S6 and edge is the stock, which is extremely fast to open, very quick to focus and snap, and offers a wide variety of options including manual settings, without shutter control. The latter is a pity, but without long exposures, you can just indirectly control it via ISO, either way, you are maxed out at 1/7. On the bright side... the lens is very bright, offering dramatically better lit details at the same SP and ISO than the S5, Note 4 or One M9, and it makes it a solid snapper indoors. Overall camera2 API is a mixed bag at it's current state and I hope full manual control comes soon with long shutter options.
Not sure this is because of camera 2 API or not, but you guys notice you can now separate auto focus from exposure point in pro mode? You can press and hold to lock the focus point, while shifting the exposure point to elsewhere on the screen. Makes it much better while shooting in situations where background and foreground are in vastly different exposure brackets.

I Installed "Manual camera" app (compatibility app said that it would work) but it doesn't work.
"Manual camera" interface appears, turns green and freezes, and phone either reboots or app
just shuts down. Camera gets a little warm too.
Was hoping to get DNG files from S6, but doesn't look good.
Very disappointed about this.
Uninstalled app and was refunded.
Thanks for the feedback!
I tried the Manual Camera app as well and it all appeared to be working for me, until I attempted to save a RAW image. This crashed my camera and required a full reboot to resolve.

I don't think there's RAW support for any non-Nexus phone (maybe one of the Chinese ones, but not from the major OEMs).
Also, doesn't the shutter top out at 1/10 or 1/7?
Yeah when putting it into raw and gpeg you will get a crash we have to wait for Samsung to do an update . I have a feeling that the ois is the reason samsung cannot alow shutter speed variation as even dslr cameras don't use image stabilization when it's on long exposure and as ois cannot be switched of manually then this will be a problem .

[Guide][Camera][SD]How to enable Camera2 API

Hello guys) How to enable Camera2 API?) Custom ROMs (MIUI, CM, etc)
1) Root!
2) Open build.prop, make string 'persist.camera.HAL3.enabled=1' , save, reboot.
3) Check manual features by Manual Camera Compability utility.

It's working on my xiaomi.eu latest MIUI7 and Mookee ROMs)
p.s. I have Snapdragon version, pls test on the MTK who have this devices.
Thanx to Nevio (4pda.ru) )))
BUG! Stock camera in MIUI7 crashed with this feature. MIUI8 is normal.
Tested with Krexus rom and working!
It's gooood)
it's for mediatek or snapdragon version ?
SD working. Try if you have MTK version. If this hint will work - I will change head of topic to both versions)

Ok, thank you!
I enabled camera 2 api and I am experiencing a crazy battery drain with mokee ROM. Is it normal? The battery drops 10 % in a matter of 10min and the phone gets really hot
How many of the manual settings stated in the manual camera compatibility app are supported after enabling camera2 api?

But RAW pictures are buggy on our phone, atleast on my phone
Edit: I had 3 reboots within a short time while opening camera apps since I've edited the build.prop. I'm on official RR, but the camera2 features are working fine (except raw), thanks for sharing!

Camera fv-5, snap cam (from play store), open camera and a lot others, they have to support camera2 api. On some camera apps you have to enable it manually in the settings. Then you can control shutter speed and some other things. I've attached also a picture, on the left side the shutter speed is short and on the right side the shutter speed is a lot longer. So for "normal" pictures you won't need manual controls, but in some cases it can be useful.

Can u plz show the ss of build prop after the edit? And the settings in any camera app?
Thanks for the guide.....this has solve the problem of reboot while using third party camera apps......google camera is also working without any problem
At least. MANY DIGITAL COOKIES TO THE OP. This was a thing that I was asking before even buying the phone. Many thanks to the OP.
Hmm I am using Snap Camera with camera2 API. Best thing) But it's need to activate camera2 in the Snap Camera settings (menu--"other"tab--go down and check Camera2 API string). Nice manual focus and manual settings in the HDR mode) Snap camera may a RAW format. There opens in built-in viewer and (who installed) can be pen into Snapseed editor.
Example of the photo in HDR mode with manual settings) Sorry for my curved hands and academical English)))
My curved hands cannot make good man ual photos yet)) Who knows Russian - you can check 4pda.ru forum--Redmi Note 3 Pro Camera branch. http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=750102&st=860 Many people tested this hint and VEEEEERY pleasured)))

Magisk Based GCAM Port, Google Lens Support, Slo-Mo, 60FPS Enabled

I have created a Magisk based DIY GCAM port for our 10's. Basically, it installs everything you need for it to work, and you try/select whatever GCAM you think works the best. All this will do is enable the extra features for GCAM
***SLOMO NOT WORKING ON OREO FOR ME***
Prerequisites:
2.xx.xxx.xx Nougat Stock sense, not sure about LOS or others (you can try, no guarantees).
3.xx.xxx.xx Oreo Stock sense, not sure about LOS or others (you can try, no guarantees).
Magisk 15.0 or newer (Uses 1500 template)
No Other GCAM installed (remove any prior to flashing magisk module)
REMEMBER TO SET ALL SETTINGS AND FC ONCE BEFORE USE!!!!!
What it does:
It replaces media_profiles.xml in system/etc : this allows for HEVC and 60fps
Oreo Version
It adds ARCore and ARStickers to system/app
It sets ro.config.calibration_cad=/system/etc/calibration_cad.xml
It adds res_ctrl.conf to system/etc
it updates all the various .xml files that have media settings within them
This is a free-for-all zip, meaning i dont care if you modify it, pass it off to other groups, help anybody else, etc.
I am not responsible if you get your phone messed up, it works for me, and for others. I will help as much as i can. Its a work in process, hopefully, it will make life easier for everybody. This is really close to being a DD, i will try other GCams as i find time. Im really waiting for Oreo on VZW, then ill really get into it. (AR Stickers, etc.)
Also, this is a HTC 10 thread, and while i dont mind helping people (I want everybody to have a working GCAM) this magisk module, especially the media_profiles.xml is very very very 10 specific. You can however, do the legwork, use this zip as a template, and make one for your threads/personal use as well. And i dont mind. Just dont come in here without a logcat with some phone that's not a 10 and say its broke. I will at least look at a logcat and help if its not a 10, but my demands have been expressed.
Also, for those with a 10.. Dont come in here and tell me its broke, not tell me anything relevant, have no logcat, and expect a fix...you will be meme flamed for my amusement...You have been warned. You should know better at this point!!!
Thanks
@Arnova8G2 Porting Gcam over to us, and listening to our needs

Changelog/Bugs:
DIY GCAM MODS: Everything but GCAM, Pick the one you like the best and use this mod to get the extras to work.
V31: Version back to 2 revs. 1: Skulshady V3.0, portrait works (6p or pixel 2017 zsl hdr +, that one has low light bug still), Tolyan009 v1.3.5, portrait doesnt work, more options (needs alot of configuration, pixel 2, 2017 pixel zsl hdr+ new, black level 64, hdr+ control on, turn off use google photos in debug settings)
V30: Oreo and Nougat: Added HEVC Back in, Removed Lens (Built into photos now), some people say slomo works in oreo now, you tell me Uses Arnova V7B6 Camera...too bad it's junk......
V28: Cleaned up media_profiles_vendor.xml and added HEVC support. (Slo-Mo at least loads the viewfinder now, getting warmer )
V24: Low Light/Flash Bugs fixed, increase sharpness might be better, still no slo-mo
V23: Same oreo bugs
v8 Nougat: Updated to arnova pixel2mod v6b14, probably the last good one
v8 Oreo: Initial release, has b14, and AR stickers, need someone to test it on oreo.
v7: 99.98% works, only "little" bug is if you take a low light/room is completely dark photo (front and rear), very rarely, but sometimes the camera app crashes.
v1: Initial release
Bugs: No front HDR, Slo-mo crashes went set to 240fps (120 is fine), can only take picture with hdr+ enhanced on for rear, view finder is a little slow for portrait mode rear.
V28: To ease confusion, 6P works with everything it appears, 2017 Pixel HDR ZSL has some issues in low/no light still (wanna help, PM @tsalta )
V24: Either works i believe
V23: I use nexus6P, you can use pixel 2 as well
v8: Use nexus 6P, it all works, you can use 2017 pixel zsl HDR+, but it will FC in dark/no light using flash.
How to modify the zip for your a new gcam:
1. uninstall gcam mod
2. reboot
3. Install gcam of your choosing
4. using root browser, copy directory from data/app containing google camera directory.
5. take the contents of that folder, copy the contents to the zip file, in system/app/GCAM, replace the contents in there.
6. reflash zip with new gcam
thank for share

Just wondering
Thanks for the Share will test it now!
Edit: Yes 1.6 i guess or perhaps 1.7 but the feel is like more 1.6
Yes this is the most stable build with all the options that we can have the only one thing we gona miss is the Pixel 2017 HDR+ ZSL the ZSL works only with this presets and since the new versions it doesnt work anymore the last time was worked fine on V 1.2

well i can take pictures with HDR+ and HDR+ Enhchanced from the Back camera so it is working fine not bug.
Also the Front HDR+ is working what i mean is it is made to work only In portrait MOD so when you shoot Portrait with the Front and you have HDR+ portrait camera enabled will get the effect this is how the build is mean to work so you can remove this from the Bugs it is not actually a bug.
Slow mo crashes on stock Oreo
And also 60fps does not work

Arnova 1.7 beta 1
It will only take pics on hdr+ if it decides hdr should be used. If you turn hdr off, it won't work.
Yea, I'm aware of the work around for front hdr+. But you can't just have hdr+ on the front camera in normal mode. So it's a bug still until we find a better alternative camera that works.
You can be the tester @tsalta if you like. I explained how to put different GCAMS in the magisk zip, so you can find the perfect version.

Yes im planing to make one version same with 1.6 because 1.6 is more stable than 1.7 beta ad 1.7 in 1.6 will take pictures always with HDR+ or Enchanged whatever you want from the back camera.
and i think 1.6 is one idea faster no freeze slownes on the viewfinder
Los Ron (rr), HDR working, portrait mode too, but slow motion mode not
Thanks anyway)
@aer0zer0 i was planing to make another version but after alot of test the most stable build that work is 1.7 Beta 1 so thanks for the share.
I mean compared to the Other builds that have Portraid mode if not 1.2 is the most stable
Like ive sayd many times every build have some advantage and dissadvantages for example 1.2 is super fast and stable also has working Pixel config with ZSL in other hand do not have POrtrait
Well above 1.6 they have everything but the pixel config is not working and no ZSL at all.
Also i have some other builds that are Not Arnova diferent from different russian sites and i had the best Front + HDR+ mod and take amazing HQ selfies but only this is the advantage of the mod.
if we have somehow to make a mix like frankenstain from the mods we know who is best and work perfect to make One build that include all the things.
Thanks for the Magisk Module.

Yes it is media Profile xml i never ever had Slow Mo to work no matter of the presets in best case just freeze and i found out that this heppand only in Viper Magisk ROM people who are with Lee Droid v 4 have Slow Mo working so im pretty sure its ROM related and thats why i leave it thats way i get tired of trying to fix it and just waiting the OREO.
@tsalta have you tried older builds, like in the 1.4s I would sacrifice portrait mode for clean front and rear camera implementation. The 10 was my daily driver till I got a essential phone mid September. So I haven't messed with it much. Are the bsg versions any good?

You have to add Google's preset media configs to media_profiles.xml that's how it works. 240 fc, since the sensor can't handle it.

About the Gcam Mods.
I tested all of them by all i mean even builds that are not even listen on XDA.
for me Arnova 1.2 is one of the best for us because its fast and all HW levels are added to support level 3 so we HTC 10 users and many other devices that have and can handle camera 2 api have HW level 3 support.
In the 1.2 Bold Red build from Arnova even the Pixel 2017 ZSL HDR+ preset work in all conditions i never had a single crash there shooting day and night, the only one downside is that there is no Portrait MODE.
Another info like i mentioned befor i had one Build if you wish will upload it that it has the Most amazing fron Shooter with HDR+ it is based on BSG build but edited by some Russian folk from 4pda i used this mod only because of the front facing camera a slefie is about 5 mb in size Crisp and clear like you shoot it with back camera.
Other than that one of my Favorite as well is the ArtZ based Mod that is Pixel based Version 2.
Have everything working ZSL all is set to use Pixel configs have a Portrait Mod working and so on.
The only problem with this build is like i explain several times befor shooting in the dark when there is not Object to focus the app force crash it is somthing related to the Focus plus the Flash it is like the Flashligh do not work properpy in synhron with the Focus and the HDR+
but for a day and good light photos i got the best pictures with this ArtZ MOD.

Try this out just set up the camera on 1st run for Max Quality and shoot with the Front Camera in Good Light condition.
If we have somehow to see what settings use this apk for the front to implement in the 1.7 regular front will be Awesome.

Try this out just set up the camera on 1st run for Max Quality and shoot with the Front Camera in Good Light condition.
If we have somehow to see what settings use this apk for the front to implement in the 1.7 regular front will be Awesome.

Google Cam 6.2 /6.1 broken after taking some HDR+ enhanced Shots Any Fix ?

I have been using Asus zenfone max pro m1 6gb with official pie .53 I tried lot of gcam version from different developers .
and I noticed , after taking some shots using HDR+ enhanced mode camera portrait mode ,HDR+ enhanced mode and night mode are not working or the shutter goes blind also night mode view finder goes black .this fixed by a device restart fixes and it not solving by cache clear and data clear of cam app data .
I have tried almost all developers Gcams
the_dise
bulkin043/innocent parrot
blackrider
BSG
arnova8
but all have this issue with HDR+ enhanced
So people those who are using Gcam without these issues comment your Gcam link.
or test it in your device gcam mods has this issues or no issues at all .
EDIT: I hope this might be the issue if everyone gets the same issue
Edit 2; found a. Temporary fix
Temporary fix
Update 1: it's happening due to DSP processing, use arnova cam with DSP or hex process off
Sabre is a merge method created by Google that improves photo quality on some modes. Some call it "super resolution" because of the sharpness/detail improvements. It's used by Google for Night Sight, but some GCam mods also use it for zoomed photos and HDR+ Enhanced. Works with the RAW10 format (other RAW formats may result in black photos).
Sometimes Sabre isn't supported by all cameras and Google Camera will crash after taking a picture. In this case, the only solution is to disable Sabre (only available on some mods) and restart the app.
Try this
Replying from Max Pro M1 6gb
It is old version I am using latest 6.1 ..
After trying some APK I found out a arnova version which has the sabre switch .. so testing with the option off

Is Gcam fully working? I cannot get it to work

I was up until 430 am last night trying different configs and Gcam APKs and the best I can do was using 6.1 or 6.2. No crashes but these 3 problems are present in every APK I tried so if there's anyone that has an APK that works for these, would love to hear it.
Problems:
1) Camera takes first picture quite fast. 2nd picture is slightly slower. 3rd and beyond is unbelievably slow. Slower than Night Sight. You can tell that the picture is being taken all at the same rate because the picture is showing up in the Gallery Icon, but the viewfinder is just loading and hanging.
What is the reason for this? (HDR Enhance is NOT on)
2) Turn off HDR+ and camera button doesn't even work. It works in Portrait and video but not in regular camera mode.
3) If I switch Cameras or modes (From regular camera to wide... or regular camera to Portrait and then back to regular) then it will take the picture fast. Which means that it's a software issue of lagging. Almost like it's lagging or having problems clearing memories while taking consecutive pictures?
Night Sight and actual photos look GREAT. Which is why it's pissing me off. The VG35 is a godly phone I just bought and I love everything about it. But the camera is lacking. And having a somewhat partially working gcam app just teases me that the picture could be better but isn't. The camera itself is good it's just the software that isn't so great.
LG's stock camera app puts on a lot of sharpness everything gets so blurry.
Any FULLY working apks out there that don't have issues with lag when taking pictures?
UPDATE: I tried cstark and a few others but the one that works for me fully (Night Sight, portrait, wide lens, correct colors, etc) is Arnova 1.7 here
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-suggested/#apk411
Arnova 1.6 also works.
So I managed to fidget with all the settings and basically... here is an update. AS IS, the Gcam with Arnova takes 2 pictures at regular speed. The 3rd picture on, it will show the circle and lag, taking about 5 full seconds to complete a picture. (There are other people on reddit who confirmed this) If you change the camera view in any way, OR press the home button and come back to camera, it resets allowing you take 2 more pictures at normal rates before it starts to slow down again.
By reducing HDR frame from 7 to 3, it allows you to take about 5 pictures before the slow down happens. So, it's not ideal but a workaround is to just take 5 pictures and press "portrait" and then come back to regular camera and it should allow for 5 more pictures at the regular rate.
HDR off also does not allow the camera to take a picture.
But that being said, does anyone know WHY it's happening? I don't know much about how android and the camera works but if we can figure out why the loading circle starts to slow down after a certain # of pictures, and WHY it resets when you change the camera view for a split second... I'd be happy to contribute in any way I can to get a fully useable Gcam app for us. V35s are so underrated with the High Quality Dac and if we get fully working Gcam, it would be a massive upgrade for anyone with a V35.
The pictures with Gcam are no joke.
The reasons for why the Gcam can only take a few pictures before it starts to load in the viewfinder very slowly, and why it resets when you "refresh" the camera view:
(These are complete uneducated guess but using logic based on what I'm been testing)
- It's not related to HDR. There was 1 apk that allowed me to take pictures with HDR off and it still did it.
I thought it was the HDR processing in the background that was queueing up but that's not the case.
- Changing camera view and switching back, RESETS this problem. Is there some sort of memory that needs to be cleared in the camera after each picture? Or after each # of pictures you can set that might address this problem?
There was another APK that I used that had the ability to increase the memory and it didn't do anything.
- I have a feeling it might be related to the buffer fix issue. The buffer fix, fixed the lag in the view finder. However, after taking a few pictures and hitting the limit, you can tell the loading circle will start to slow down because the viewfinder for a split second will lag as if the buffer fix was turned off.
So, maybe buffer fix is being reset or paused after a few pictures?
I wish I knew more about this stuff but if anyone has any ideas, would be great.
I read somewhere that the LG V35 and the G7 have similar cameras.
Check the G7 gcam thread for more info and assistance

Gcam_6.2.030_Advanced_BF_V2.2.2beta2.190904.1817
from https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-arnova8G2-beta/#apk1121
This is the one that works very well. There is .a work around for the camera shutter loading really slow after 2 pictures.. and that is the setting called Reinit for HDR+. Just turn it on and after every time you take a picture, your camera and viewfinder will reinitialize and blink for a split second. Every picture taken is fast. You just have to wait a full second in between pictures or so.
Its way better and more useable and waiting 6 seconds for each picture.
Night Sight works without ANY lag, so does portrait, wide angle, etc.
Things that do not work at all:
- HDR Off mode
- Flash (goes off doesnt take a picture)
This is a useable version for me.
I also also narrow down and say the shutter loading slow is caused by something in the "buffer fix" setting. If you turn off buffer fix, the camera will take a picture INSTANTLY. Like the stock LG cam. However, the viewfinder has that crazy lag so you cant see what you're taking a picture of.
i tried above but when its low light it freezes. i'm on at&t v350 /w PIE (20c)

Are you on Pie or Oreo?
Mine's on Pie(20s) and everything works relatively well except for images taken with the wide angle lens: the red and blue color channels seem to be swapped, making photos looking weird.

I'm having the same issue. Is there a fix for this? Tried playing around with the settings but couldn't land on a solution.

OK, so I spent all day trying a bunch of versions, and finally found the one version that can get rid of the color issue and the lag between shots. Here it is:
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-arnova8G2-beta/#apk1114
With this one, make sure to enable both the "Use Restart for AUX Mod" and "Use Reinit for HDR+" settings in the "HDR+ control" menu. Make sure to enable the AUX button as well, and disable Google photos. You'll see the screen go black a little bit after taking a photo, and then you can take another one and switch cameras. When you switch cameras, it reinits the camera app, which gets rid of the channel swap issue. For some reason the other version that was linked has an issue when both these settings are enabled, but it works great with this version.

Glad someone finally found the right one, but the link you gave us only leads to a list of many gcam apks, which one exactly did you mean? Also, by disabling google photos, you mean that we have to disable it completely or just disable it somehow from gcam?
The version that I linked to blinks when you first open the page. It's V2.2.1.190831.2245-fix-2. As far as disabling Google photos, it's a setting inside the camera app that uses Google photos as the viewer when you look at the photo you just took. However, this integration doesn't work, so disable that so it uses the built in viewer. You'll also need to go to the About screen in settings and turn on advanced options to see most of the settings I've listed.
Thanks! It really works great, taking pictures is fast and even night mode is quick.
Good job on finding this

Hello,
I have found this version works on the V35.... Gcam_6.2.030_Advanced_BF_V2.2.1.190831.2245-fix2.apk. Wide Angle, Regular, Night Sight. However getting the white balance just right for both indoors and outdoors is not easy, so I I actually use a dual install combo for slightly better results:
OUTDOORS/Regular - Gcam_6.1.021_Advanced_BF_V1.6-Fu24_5Lens-02.apk - With this version I can customize sharpness without loading custom libs, etc. White balance is yellow indoors, and Night Sight has buffer problems so I don't use it.
INDOORS/Night Sight - Gcam_6.2.030_Advanced_BF_V2.2.1.190822.1145.apk - This version does well indoors with Night Sight... outdoor photos are pinkish however
You *should* be able to install both these versions without overwriting each other...

Near as I can tell this works perfect after following the indicated settings. No need for a buffer fix module, it's built in. Night sight works, viewfinder works properly in wide / normal etc etc.
thanks for mentioning it, there are so so many available that *might* work, a daunting task to try them all.
