Hi folks,
I am trying to flash this firmware onto my s6 edge+
G928FXXS5CRH1_G928FDBT4CRF1_DBT (newest samsung official binary)
but Odin will FAIL right after modem.bin (see screenshot)

I don't know why this happens Please help to find out.
Before I tried to flash the firmware mentioned above, another samsung official was installed:
G928FXXU4CRF4_G928FOXA4CRE1_BTU
Now any attempt to flash former binary will also fail (because older bootloader??)
I'm stuck here Please help!

I have the same problem with that file : THL-G928CXXS4CRF5-20180705114510.zip it worked before, but not anymore, my device is softbricked.

Which version is currently installed? (you can check it in recovery mode)
Most likely you are not able to install former version because it has an older bootloader.
In my case "S5" ist installed, so I am not able to downgrade to "U4", which was installed before

Use samfirm for your newest firmware and use the region option for your current region. (it should work properly) if you get hidden.img failure, remove from package and repack .tar

Use updato.com to download latest firmware with full speed download.

I'm having the same issue. I wiped everything with TWRP and was going to reinstall the OS, but I'm getting the same fail as you do. I'm trying to flash the same version as I did before wiping everything.
Any ideas?

You just saved me! Thanks a lot! I thought I was stuck on CM 14.1. Just removing hidden.img fixed my flashing issues.

same here always stuck or error on modem.img so after unclick hidden.img use z3x it worked mine is G928GUBS5CRH1

Or you can try with this. Fix the phone is bricked, black screen and more by flash a new ROM for Samsung Galaxy phone. Maybe not the newest firmware, but works perfectly.

S5 G900F problem. Urgent help needed please!

I've just bought a Galaxy S5 G900F. It was rooted, with Alliance rom. SE secure was showing G900T but the rest was G900F and it says this on the phone under the battery.
It didn't have a recovery on it but I was able to flash TWRP recovery.
Everything appears to be for the G900F model, but the kernel and the modem are showing the G900T which is the T-Mobile US version. When I am in download mode, it shows a product name of G900T. When I try to flash a rom or modem, it gives a fail notice in download mode which reads 'aboot'. The phone doesn't appear to be bricked, possibly soft bricked.
I really don't know what to do now. I'm struggling to even flash a stock rom. Flashing via recovery has failed, as well as via Odin on a PC.
If anyone can help, I'd be extremely grateful. I can't even try to return it in this condition.
How did you flash the recovery exactly?
Did you try performing a factory reset and wiping the cache partition before flashing?
Yes, we did that with the Skipsoft toolkit.
Grab ODIN and a stock ROM from sammobile dot com and flash it from download mode
Hi. Tried that but it failed
Can anyone suggest anything else please? Pretty desperate!
You can flash roms in different ways: Odin, Fastboot and through a custom recovery.
Did you try flashing the rom by using your TWRP recovery?
You can choose to install a zip.
Steps are found here:
http://highonandroid.com/android-roms/how-to-install-custom-rom-using-twrp-recovery-failproof-method/
Yes, tried this. To make it worse, Samsung are refusing to fix it, as it was previously rooted by the previous owner
I would try flashing a different kernel.
If that doesn't help, try unrooting and rooting with cf auto root.
@joekeee we can't mount the internal memory via recovery to send a file over
There's no rom to boot up anything with anymore. We need a link to some kernels. Would you know where?
SD card?
You can flash kernels with Odin as well.
When you say flashing the custom rom has failed, was there an error message in Odin or on the device?
What does it do after flashing, nothing, bootloop, ...?
In download mode, the error message was "aroot". Same thing in Odin "failed aboot".
SD card?
What Odin version are you using?
Does it say anything else but aboot?
On bootup, it stays on the S5 screen. Nothing else.
Going to try the SD card....
Not writing to NAND
What Odin version are you using?
For this problem some suggest v3.04 or v3.07.

[Q] SPH-L720 with L720VPUFNG2 bootloader question

I bought my phone in the US, and unlocked it before coming to Europe.
I was able to root my phone and now I'm running Resurrection Remix (6.0.1) on it with almost no problems.
I'm trying to find out if my bootloader is locked since I would like to do some other things as well (the partition structure is terrible and I would like to change it, and also I would like to install jfltexx modem and bootloader).
I've tried to flash using ODIN but it fails, and Heimdall won't recognize the device (even after driver installation).
If the bootloader isn't locked can I simply dd files to mmcblk0p6 from adb or terminal emulator?
Thx in advance.

Bootloader is not locked, none of the Sprint firmware for this device contain a locked bootloader. Tried to flash what using Odin?

Tried to flash both modem and bootloader for fltexx and failed both times. Reason - secure check fail: mdm and secure check fail: aboot. Write protecton enabled is shown in Download mode, maybe that has something to do with it?

You sure you don't have the L720T? It has a Write Protection setting in Settings/Security on the stock ROM that needs to be disabled before using Odin. Also if you flash another modem you will lose your carrier unlock.

Shouldn't the international modems be unlocked by default?

The international modems aren't for this device, hence your problem. Odin does a device check before flashing anything.

OK, but does Odin do something special except copying the files? Popular recoveries that we use are cool but you can also do everything manually if you know a bit of Linux over ADB.
Is it the same here?

It copies tar files. Such as modems, boot, and recovery. It's not like recovery such as TWRP.

Right, but .tar are just archives and then you unpack it and copy the files to the right place. For example aboot.mbn to mmcblk0p6 (and other files accordingly as well)

I9505 went into bootloop

Hello fellow xda'ers!
I need your help. A friend of mine gave me his Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 after out of nowhere it didn't boot up and got stuck during boot (after couple of seconds it vibrates and restarts, stuck on the white S4 screen).
I tried reflashing it with Odin3 v3.11.1 (with Windows Defender/Firewall turned off, run as admin, orig. Samsung USB cable, direct USB port, no hubs). I flashed I9505XXUHOA7_OXAHOA7 (firmware found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265477), but the same problem persists. Then tried flashing I9505XXUHOJ2_I9505OXAHOJ2_I9505XXUHOJ2_HOME.tar.md5 from sammobile (it contains 5 files: AP, BL, CSC, CP and the .pit). Still same. At this point it gets messy. I wanted to flash the GPE .zip (put on SD card) through recovery so i installed latest TWRP 3.0.2. That was fine because i could enter the recovery. Before that i thought "hey, let's update bootloader and modem first", so i did flash I9505XXUHPF4 from http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/i9505-develop/i9505xxuhpf4-flashable-tar-odin-t3436110 via Odin (AP button).
After that i cannot enter recovery anymore. Not TWRP 3.0.2 or 3.0.1 nor latest CWM. From this onward KNOX says 0x1 in Odin/Download mode (but i don't care actually).
Tried reflashing the stock firmwares i have, with and without "Nand Erase All" or "Re-partition" in Odin in any combination. Still nothing...though Odin says PASS (see attachment)

Isn't the bootloader flashed in BL and modem in CP? You flashed both in AP?

I think he flashed non-Kies (now Smart Switch) firmware, which has everything (bootloader, firmware, modem, CSC, kernel) inside one signed tarball.

Yes, this is true. But none method works. And there is still the problem with the non-accessible recovery (also flashed via AP).

Odin is failing all time, doesnt matter which FILE I TRY TO FLASH, ODIN FAILs all time.
I have tried these solutions so far :-
1. I have tried flashing COMBINATION FILE / FACTORY FIRMWARE but ODIN FAILED.
2. I have tried flashing STOCK FIRMWARE latest and old ones too but ODIN FAILED.
3. I have tried flashing FIRMWARES WITH pit files too, but ODIN FAILED.
4. I have tried 4 files with PIT FILE and without pit file but ODIN FAILED.
Thank for reading, I appreciate your valuable inputs.
For that partion error , you can go to wipe/advanced wipe/ repair or change file system and select the partitions that you want to repair , or you can simply change the file systems .
First repair the file system and then try to flash stock rom from download mode.

Flash this repair firmware via odin.this firmware comes with 5 files BL/AP/CP/CSC/PIT.
This is 5.0.1 lollipop firmware BTW but once your device is fully recovered you can take OTA update or flash 6.0.1 afterwards.
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=24411628330025773
Open odin "run as administrator"
upload all files in odin 1 by 1
Connect device and start flash.
After odin show pass go to recovery and do factory reset/wipe cache.
Reboot and wait 5 to 10 minutes.
2nd option is you can flash twrp recovery and flash a custom rom.
Hopefully this will work otherwise your EFS partition could be corrupted.
