Oreo update - Menu / back soft touch button don't turn on - Samsung Galaxy Note FE Questions & Answers

I recently upgraded to oreo and my back / menu soft touch buttons (off screen alongside home button) do not light up. The keys are functional but it just doesn't light up.
Power-saving mode is OFF. I dont have option to set "touch key light duration" in Settings->Display anymore. Please suggest!

I just did this with my Galaxy S7. It worked.
Connect your PC to your phone via USB
Run the ADB command to enable USB connection.
"adb usb"
Now using ADB Shell you can manually set the touch key settings.
To get the current settings use this command
"adb shell settings get system button_key_light" -> get the current setting ( 1500 ms )
Turn the button lights on or off
"adb shell settings put system button_key_light 0" -> always disable the capacitive button lights
"adb shell settings put system button_key_light -1" -> always enable the capacitive button lights
Set the time until button key lights turn off
"adb shell settings put system button_key_light 1500" -> always disable the capacitive button lights after 1.5 seconds
"adb shell settings put system button_key_light 6000" -> always disable the capacitive button lights after 6.0 seconds

Wow it worked, I managed to turn off the touch key light on my Galaxy Note FE (running Pie, One UI) :good:

Used an app for mine. Samsung Button Light.

Lucky dude. I wish I had never updated to Pie.
If you think about root, do spare us a backup of Oreo. I'm sure many will be thankful

how get back from "Sleep Mode"...?

is there a way to get back from the Hermes' "sleep mode" aside from using the power key?
say, like pressing any other button? or is there something im missing here?
thanks in advanced...!!!
Yes, you can change this. Go to:
Start / Settings / System / Key Lock
you will then get 3 options:
1-Lock all buttons except Power button (default)
2-Lock buttons if device is locked
3-Do not lock buttons
Change the setting to 2 or 3 depending on your preference

Disable unlock from standby

Under my original rom I could push the power button and the phone would go into standby (screen off, buttons dead) and then push the same button and it would wake up. I just installed Open Touch 2.2.1, and now when I go into standby, when I wake it up, I have to go thru an unlock process. How can I disable the unlock process, I've checked under keylock and lock and neither of these have settings that apply. Thanks.
you should ask this in "Open touch" thread. perhaps there is s2U2 installed - a programm that is for locking and unlocking...
you ahve to ask there how to disable this program

D810 soft reset by itself...

Hi,
Sometimes when I need to turn it on by pushing the on/off switch, it started to perform soft reset! I also found out that when my D810 going to sleep (in my words), all keys but the on/off switch were dead even the phone. I tried to call myself using another telephone, the D810 was off!
Is there any idea? Or any advice?
firstly, have you ever dropped your d810 ?? or maybe 'accidentally' flush in on water...
if you don't, then
1. for auto reset power button : consider to check the 'shortcut button' on Start -> Settings -> Buttons, check on there, if you assign power button to 'Soft Reset'
2. for 'dead key' : check on Start -> Settings -> Key Lock, check on there, if you Set option into Lock button if device is locked, and change it into Lock All Button Except Power Button
for the third problem, have you ever try your sim card into another gsm phone ?? and call it again ??
ps : some dumb question...you sure it's not on flight mode ??

Question regarding turn off device

Well in several ROMs the device turned off after several seconds, and until I push the turn on/off button it will not respond to other buttons (e.g. send), the device is not locked.
In other ROMS when the device is turned off, every button are active.
Is there a way to make the buttons not active when the device is turned off ?
Just go to "start / settings / system / Key Lock" for locking options.

Other option is to edit registry.
Got to HKCU > ControlPanel > Keybd and set DefaultKeyLock to '1'
Perform soft reset and problem should be gone.
Thank you both, it was very easy....

Screen not turning on

Occasionally I get a problem where pressing the power button does not wake my phone up from standby, the lights behind the buttons flash and then turn off but the screen turns off. This normally fixes itself fairly quickly but it's still a pain in the mean time
I'm getting the same thing and it started today. Pressing the power button doesn't turn on the screen but the keypad lights comes on and after 10 sec it goes away and the screen remains black. Pressing and holding down the power button for 3 sec brings up the lock screen and all is back to normal....that is until the screen goes black again!
Anyone having the same problem?
This is happening after i installed chainfire's new 2.0 3d patch. I'm going to uninstall it and see if it persist.
I'm on stock TmoUS HD2.
I had this issue before. Check whether the below setting is enabled.
Start > Settings > Menu > All Settings > Today > Items
The setting "Today timeout", at the bottom left hand corner,
should not be selected/enabled.
