The 6.0 and 7.1 boot stacks are not compatible. You need to flash the stock 6.0 recovery using jasminetool. Unfortunately, I don't have a copy. Maybe someone else is running 6.0 and can post it?

stock recovery right?

After you have the stock recovery file, post it somewhere and then you can go back to your custom ROM.

Hi I am new to this process. Kindly help me. I am currently on 6.0.1 b31 and trying to install TWRP.
The only way to do this as I understand is to upgrade from 6.0.1 b31 to 7.1.1 b17.
Now I cant seem to find update.zip which can do this upgrade using SD card load.
Does anyone have this update.zip ?

Thank you @juniorgerman. The update.zip failed. I am currently on 6.0.1 b31.
1. I downloaded 343410B1702K88V2.0.0B17 (SD card Software) .zip from the link you provided and extracted update.zip.
2. I went stock to recovery mode by pressing Volume up + Power key with the tablet connected to PC
3. I selected Apply update from ADB since I have adb installed on my linux system
4. Then I used ./adb sideload update.zip
However after sometime it failed with message This package is not ks package. See attached images. What am I doing wrong ?

I tried three different versions but none of them worked with adb sideload in linux.
However they worked perfectly when the update.zip is applied through SD card

[Q] 4.2 update - boot.img checksum fail. Broken LNX device?

When I try to update the N7 to 4.2 using adb sideload it fails at the "Verifying current system..." stage.
I get this:
assert failed: apply_patch_check("EMMC:/dev/block/platform/sdhci-tegra.3/by-name/LNX: ... ")
From searching the threads I figured out LNX is the boot.img
I got the device today and have not tampered with it in any way. No unlock, no root, only installed a couple of apps from the play store.
I first tried the OTA update which failed and after reboot it came back 4.1.2.
Then I tried fastboot + adb sideload, where I got the above error message. I assume the same error is what causes the OTA update to fail.
I can not see any reason why the LNX device would have been changed by anything I did.
Is this a sign that the LNX device is broken?
Or is it safe to just flash the full 4.2 factory image?
I solved the problem.
I'm not sure why the boot image did not have a proper checksum, but flashing the original 4.1.2 boot image from googles factory image fixed it.
After that the upgrade to 4.2 worked.
How do I do that?

I think I have a similar problem and I would like to know how to flash the original 4.1.2 boot image from google's factory image.
Problem: Trying to update my Nexus 7 looks like there is something wrong with this:
...
verifying current system...
assert failed: apply_patch_check("EMMC:/dev/block/platform/sdhci-tegra.3/by-name/LNX:..............")
Installation aborted.
Thank you.

Download the factory image for 4.1.2 from here:
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
Extract the archives and you find boot.img inside.
You then flash the boot.img using fastboot.
You also need to unlock the bootloader if you didn't already do that.
After that you should be able to upgrade it.
There are other threads that will teach you how to do both flashing and unlocking.
I had the same exact problem as miguelaso_mx. I would recommend to use the Google Nexus 7 Toolkit as it makes the steps to fix this a breeze.
1) Install Toolkit
2) Run Toolkit
3) Put device in fastboot (Power + Volume Down)
4) Unlock bootloader
5) Download and flash factory image
6) Put device back in fastboot after reboot
7) lock bootloader
Your device is now ready for OTA updates.
I have this exact problem, and will definitely try this out, thanks.
Will just flashing the boot image, delete any data? I mean, if it is just the boot image, I guess i don't have to flash the entire factory image(s) right?
I would hate to play all the angry bird star wars levels again
Thank you

[GUIDE] How install recovery on LG L Bello [D335]

Whatever you do with your phone at your own risk!
And so dudes came the moment when my idea to do something with this devaysom realized.
We have unlocked bootloader without checking signatures rekaveri and core!
Putting only D335 (5.0.2.) Because on 4.4.2 we receiving bricks!
Let's start!
1. For unlock boot and getting CWM will need Root rights and Android Terminal
2. All the files which will be used here and there ( loader and CWM) are here PhilZCWM/TWRP/uboot.img
3.So launch Terminal.
su
dd if=/storage/external_SD/uboot.img of=/dev/uboot count=1024.
Huray we have got unlock boot.
5.So go back to the terminal and write
su
dd if = / storage / external_SD / recovery.img of = / dev / recovery count = 32768
6.go in recovery can be either a terminal command
su
reboot recovery
Either way:
Hold the volume down and power button, wait for the logo and let go once again press the navigation buttons volume produced, the selection of double-pressing the power button. We agree to reset and get into rekaveri. Do not be alarmed data will remain on the site!
Thanks:

Hi,
I have a D331, and happy with 4.4.2 but understand that I need to download D335 stock KDZ firmware (v20) in order to install this recovery.
But there are now many V20 firmware to download (countries, letters) - and you can even get some for D331. (Will a D331 5.0.2 also work?)
I suppose I'll loose custom recovery if I flash back to 4.4.2 (?)
For the D335 5.0.2 firmware download, does the letter matter or can I safely choose the last one?
Thank you!
Claude
P.S: a 4.4.2 custom recovery would nice an please many people...

Huawei P8lite bootloop after update

hy guys,
i got an ALE-L21
after an update it stucks in the boot animation first comes the huawei logo and than the "android" banner - and that is going to stay .
i already tried to factory reset and flash the available stockroms on it
but it always says "software install failed"
it is also rooted what i guess caused the problem in the first place
do you guys have any ideas what else i can try
-can enter fastbootmode
-no custom recovery
Problem Solved :
- download a rom and extract it with Huawei Update Extractor
- enter fastboot mode and flash manually boot.img, recovery.img, system.img and cust.img on your p8 lite
---- afterwards your p8lite should boot normally and if you want you can now reinstall the whole rom normally
---- download a rom
------ extract it
--------- put the 'dload' folder in the root dictionary of your (empty)sd-card
-------------shut it down
----------------press volume up and down - and than the power button til' the update starts
thanks to fooox1 from android-hilfe.de

Hi Reyengine,
My huawei P8 lite ALE-L21 stuck at boot loop, My phone was rooted, my brother who was not aware of care about rooted phones update and hit the recent update issued by huawei. after update it is not booting anymore.
I tried the following,
Installing stock Rom through SD card but error: first attempt stuck at 90% and after force restart brought it to update over WiFi on startup. Then failed again and after that just gets stuck on logo.
Now I can not update through SD card it gives error: "software install failed" a no update file message blink before error.
Phone is not recognized in adb interface anymore.
Can you guide me in details, I am new to xda and not so good in fixing phones. Your help is appreciated. Thanks.
How to enter in Fastboot...?

when in bootloop hold the powerbutton til it shut off (and now i think it will reboot automatically ) --- so as soon as it vibrates and the reboot beginns hold volume down and power
if it didnt work try this
boot into (e)recovery and try to shut it off and than try to boot into fastboot

Let me know one thing...What screen it will show in "Fastboot"...? Blank or ......?
Thanks for staying with me...
p8 lite ale-l21
can anyone please guide me how to flash files via fastboot
Problem Solved
I was misunderstanding the Fastboot Screen of it at first but found some more important checks; thought let others know...First thank you for putting me on to right track.
You were right, to get into fastboot phone to be connected to PC with USB cable, I just changed the port to e-SATA and it got into "fastboot"... Just need to change the USB port or PC to get rid of problem of getting into fastboot.
1: I did flash by adb fastboot "Boot.img, Recovery.img, Cust.img" but System.img was giving every time error could not be done by adb fastboot. (may be size reason..!!) and did below.
2: Copied Rom "Update.app" in folder "dload" in SD card, Restarted the phone and by pressing Volume+&- on boot updated the system software...(It got error at 90% as it happened with me earlier too and saw people complaining in other forums as well.) Solution is simple..(Phone to be disconnected from PC during update through SD card..otherwise it get stuck at 90%..) I checked by force shutdown and pulling SD out and kept USB connected, it again start installation on restart but stuck again at 90%...
Updated to latest update with no problems...
Anyway, Thanks a lot for your tips which made my day...kudos..

-first you need platform tools from the android sdk ( a folder with a few files in it)
-start cmd and navigate to that folder
-connect phone to pc and boot into fast boot
-typ in cmd 'fastboot devices' now there should come something like "0102034012011 fastboot " --- which means you phone got recognized
-download a rom and extract it with Huawei Update Extractor
-put the files boot.img, recovery.img, system.img and cust.img into the platformtools folder
-and now typ ''fastboot flash boot boot.img'' press enter and wait til its done and than the next 'fastboot flash recovery recovery.img'' and so on...
Cannot find on fastboot
Did same adb devices showing no yield, did reinstall drivers, remove install clean still not showing.
Able to get into fastboot/recovery , firmware recovery
- i tried copying P8 Lite B044 EMUI 3.1 firmware to SD but running recovery it fails at 0% "Software install failed!" on firmware recovery. FML assist please!
update-
Fastboot working tried flash recovery.img & boot.img. still going back to old recovery and not one on SD. Doing recovery gets stuck on 90% as it did with OTA update.

Hi StrawShack, I have the same problem, I can't see the device in adb. I think I've disabled the USB debugging mode and now I don't know how to enable with the phone still bootloop.
Can't flash anything, tried to update via SD but doesn't work.
How did you get fastboot working?
---
update: Done!
connect to the PC via USB and enter in eRecovery mode (hold power button and volume up) then shutdown
disconnect USB cable, then hold volume down and plug again the USB.
at this point I still can't see the device in adb, but if you flash with fastboot it will work!

I don't understand what your problem.
For Marshmallow use this TWRP.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7F3ZXr565GkY28yUjhfRkd5MUk/view?usp=drivesdk
Another possibility how to fix your phone is flash stock rom from stock recovery. It's the easiest way.

Well, i can feel some doubt in your post...but h*ll yeah! I'm currently facing the same problem; where flashing stock rom, downloaded from their site, using their stock recovery, adb, and adb sideload....
the rom flashes successfully, but still boots with the same error...To be frank, i'm fed up...and almost about giving up on this phone...
-i believe i'll give it another shot this very night, trying different methods...funny ones though; if and when they work, i will definitely update my post again... my phone version is Z00ED, in case anybody cares to know -
UPDATE:
=======
Aaaaaanyway, I downloaded 2 kinds of stock roms from the Asus official site;
1. UL-ASUS_Z00E-WW-13.1010.1612.53-user (the latest:- M) and...
2. UL-ASUS_Z00E-WW-12.8.5.222-user (and older version:- actually, the pre-installed version)
after flashing the first one over and over again; after and before wiping my phone and cache over and over again, NOTHING HAPPENED; no change!!! still kept throwing back the error message.
So I decided to flash the second one, and for a split second, I was happy cos the error had disappear...only for me to wait for eternity and in vain for the phone to boot (that is, even if it could). suddenly, I realized what had happen....the phone couldn't boot pass the ASUS logo, neither could it load recovery again (as it used to). It only boots into ADB, but of course, that will require USB DEBUG MODE to be ON to be able for the phone to be detected through ADB (which is far from possible due to the numerous wipes I performed).
CURRENT SITUATION: I can't ADB, I can't get into recovery, and I'm stacked with the logo at boot......when the phone is completely turned off and placed on charge, the battery shows an empty battery with the loading (status) sign (but it charges, even without the OS being able to display the process).
Don't know whether anyone is facing same, or I can start a new thread with this? and I need help before taking it to a 3rd party repairs (since we don't hv Asus customer care in our country yet).
Will be glad to find help.
PS: The computer still detects the phone as an ADB Android device, and to me, that's a beacon of hope.

You must open the bootloader and again make the root of phone.
Functional is only the command:
fastboot boot boot.img
but only until the first reboot your phone.

By latest you mean 44? You flashed it using? And also do you still get error from invalid boot image? Also if you restart does this still happen or it is now fixed permanently?
It worked for me but just one time i used adb command fastboot boot boot.img but boot.img should be of ur firmware mine is ww 13.10.10.44 u can find it in ur firmware just extract it and u will get it. and its temporary u won't be able to restart ur phone if u restart the same problem will occur again u have to enter in fastboot and and u have to use the same command.
Note:boot.img file should be placed in the adb folder(where u have installed the adb)and u have to open cmd in adb folder only.
