Is there any way to use custom fonts?(not pre-installed ones or from the store) - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Themes, Apps, and Mods

Hi everyone,
I have this particular font I always use either on my Iphones or androids(when I could jailbreak or root them). Have left it behind for past few years with my iphones. Good to be back to android and hope there's a chance I can use that font again. I've already done some research and tried a few different methods with no success. Including this one https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyS8/comments/7n1jqg/tricks_how_to_install_any_font_on_your_s8/
Is there expert here that might know a proven or even potential way to make it work? I'd love to buy you a case of beer if it works! Thanks a lot in advance.
Neil

Not sure about custom fonts, but Substratum and the Samsung System Mods theme has some fonts like Google's Product Sans.

Check this out wings fonts for substratum.
I am sure you could probably add your fonts to this app. https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8+/themes/fonts-wings-samsung-fonts-1200-root-t3710688

Thanks a lot for the input guys! I gave Wings substratum a try and had no luck:crying:

If you are not rooted you have to install Andromeda then plug your phone into the PC run the Andromeda application on a PC it sends commands to the phone to enable it you then need to install the Samsung found from the Samsung store then install the wings font pack keep your phone plugged into the PC and run the ADB Commands that are on their first page

The Substratum and Andromeda method for the wings fonts works on the Note 8. Maybe it'll work for the Note 9 too.

Well, I took a different route and it worked! https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyS8/comments/7n1jqg/tricks_how_to_install_any_font_on_your_s8/
Thanks for chiming in anyway!
Now I need some help on merging two fonts into one if that makes any sense. Basically I have this font file that I love for its Chinese characters but hate the alphabets and symbols. I am a complete noob on this. Would someone be able to help? I have both fonts and can send them to you. It would be tremendous if someone can help.:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:

Google play store "GxFonts" great app for free cusom fonts & allows you to add/create your own. Must donate a small amount, like $0.99 cents to fully unlock and be able to add your own fonts but the endless included fonts are free. Hope this helps you out.
Cheers!

I've actually talked to the developer of this app and it doesn't work the way that I have been trying to achieve. But thanks for trying.

[Q] About rooting and other stuff

I think I might've posted this in the wrong thread, so I just copied and pasted it on to here
*#Rooting
Sheesh , I was scared to ask these questions. *but I just wanted to know a few things about this rooting stuff. As far as ADB and SDK I think it is. I know theres a guide for dummies, but I just want a quick summary and then theres is this clockmod recovery and then that cynogen thing. Just wanted to know if I should put that on my phone. I mean I really just rooted my phone for the themes and tweaks and all of that. I've been going through threads where people post there screenshots of their themes and that pretty much inspired me to root my phone. *- Its my first post , take it easy on me. Haha, but I would really like to get involved with this forum community. I am a graphic designer and pretty good at it but not at the moment cause I don't have my photoshop. I used to do blackberry themes as well. I don't know if that means anything...*
This looks more like a story than a question... but its straight...
Your asking for a quick summary of adb/sdk... sdk is the component that lets you run adb commands so sort anwser without it your computer wouldn't know what adb was... adb is the terminal command so you can make changes to your phone from your computer (add/delete/reboot/install/blah)
clockwork is a version of a recovery image... its well known because he made an app to go along with it...
Cryogen is a rom developer with a ridiculous following... he blew up back in the day when google sent him a cease in desist for using google apps in his roms (now they are dl'd separate)
I think that answers your 4 questions well in quick summery at least :/
Yeah, I know it was kind of long. Haha, sorry but should I put clockwork on my phone? Maybe if I needed to go back to factory settings or something and what program should I get to change my theme? I got launcher pro but I want to change the battery meter and all of that.

Where do I get "launcher pro"... I searched in market but all I find is themes that "require launcher pro" or a launcher of some sort..

Maybe this would work, you could goto apps and then scroll down on the categories. Click productivity and then click top free, scroll down a bit and it should be the 6th top free app. Thats a harder way though. Haha
Edit: You can also search up the developers name " Federico Carnales " without quotes.

[Q] Rooted, bloatware removed. Now what?

I've seen a lot of threads about this but I can't quite seem to understand them. I switched from an iPhone and they have tweaks and such. Now I know Android is more open and more possibilities but I can't quite find a guide of some sort for my s4. I mean, is there a list of the most popular things to do on a rooted s4? Essential tweaks? Any recommendations? What I mean is that I'd like to customize my device without having to change the entire rom. I think I said that right.. lol.
Thanks in advance!
Start with xposed framework and all the various modules. Also definitely check out Wanam in the play store.
Thank You!

Can you use the XPOSED framework with the stock TouchWiz rom using 4.4.2?
In terms of customization I do:
1. Root the phone. I use root to get extra functionality out of a few apps.
2. Disable or Uninstall bloatware.
3. Download Apex Launcher [Free] and setup my homescreen with some basic gestures. I only use one homescreen with a calendar widget and 6 icons.
4. Download Better Battery Stats [Free/ROOT] from XDA so that I understand how my battery is being affected.
5. Download LMT Launcher [Free/ROOT] from XDA so that I can simply use PIE to control/navigate with my phone easily.
6. Download Llama [Free] or Tasker [Paid] or both for automation and doing custom tasks.
7. Download AirDroid [Free/ROOT] for a wireless way of managing my phone, needs root for special features.
8. Download AdAway (not sure where to get this, I forgot) but it will help stop ads in apps/games and more.
9. Download Light Manager [Free] to change the LED colour for events like charging, charged, text message, email and more.
10. Change how all notifications appear, have a look at Floatifications [Tria/Paid] and there are many others.
I find that the customization of Android depends on what you find to be annoying and inefficient, therefore I change it.
I personally think LMT Launcher to get access to PIE is the absolute best way to navigate and control your phone or tablet.
Think about themes for your phone, at least for the homescreen, I like dark icons and a dark wallpaper because when I use my phone at night it is really easy on the eyes. However certain apps don't have a night/dark mode and instead a white background and that's annoying.
Just to reiterate, think of something you dislike about how Android works and change it. There's literally an app to customize anything and majority of them are free.
Good luck!

You are like me, you want to mod your phone while keeping stock ROM intact. Well, head on over to the Google Play store and download Wanam Xposed. You need the Xposed framework installed to use it though. Wanam enables you have a scrolling background, CRT off animation, change or hide the battery icon, etc.
Keep 'em coming!
I really appreciate all the replies!
But I typically want to keep the stock system.
May be hard to believe but I actually like TouchWiz UI. Lol.
But all suggestions are considered. Thanks again to everyone!

Fonts?

Hi all,
How do you change the font on this device? Through the usual font app on the play store ?
That's a good question. There are a ton of font apps out there. I'm coming from a Note 3, so I don't know which is best.
I've used i-Font but there are some instances where it is unsure of what to do.. For instance the ":" on the lockscreen is just a big question mark "?"
The phone needs to be rooted first, then finding a compatible font can sometimes be tedious. I've ran into the same issue as the above post with the ":" in the time.... Sometimes it's a "?" some times it's a couple square blocks. With the instructions below, it gives you the option to "back up" before you change the fonts, which I would highly recommend.
I used this thread to get different fonts on my 6P: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2176490
I downloaded and flashed the XDAPowerFont zip, then downloaded Font Installer *Root* from the playstore (as per the instructions in the thread). Worked like a charm.
I used ChinaCat font and had no compatibility issues - as you can see in my screenshots, some things didn't change but most did.

Does the keyboard work in chrome?

Do the BlackBerry keyboard predictions work everywhere? They don't work in chrome for me especially when trying to type in the address bar and on Google.
Is there something that I have to enable?
Nope it doesn't work in chrome, there was a modified keyboard here on xda but the poster removed it.

Thanks. I already installed and using it on my note 9. It has some new features like quick phrase, addition number board... but I really want it to have a number row which appear permanent on top. and predict words can use all time or at least in search bar, chrome... that why I'm trying to find a modified apk with hope that someone did my favors.
I actually don't want to switch to another keyboard cuz I addicted of swiping to get predict words..
Thank for replying.:fingers-crossed:

custom navigationbar app (pc taskbar and mobile navbar and notificationlighting)

hi for the last year or so i've been working on designing a custom environment for android, i just released a custom navigationbar app called arc lighting navigationbar on the playstore allthough it has been used and tested on galaxy devices such as the note 9 it works on any other phone too, this app will let you customize the navigationbar extensively, which includes changing each button back, home, recent apps to various icons both presets and icons from any iconpack, you can also place colored layers behind the icons, each color can also follow your wallpaper or app, you can customize it so much that you can turn it into a taskbar for desktop use meaning you can use any phone as a pc without a seperate environment such as samsung dex, the app is called arc lighting navigationbar, i couldn't possibly describe everything it can do so you'd have to test it i don't think theres anything you can think of that you can't do with when it comes to customization, whats left is the dockmenu for true desktop and mobile environment but the developer i am working with does not want to finish the work until this app gets traffic as i owe him too much money for the work he did.
here you can see it on a s9+ https://www.facebook.com/symetium/videos/441167859757603/

honestly it means a lot when someone truly appreciates my work i have to go through a lot of 1 star ratings for really weird reasons such as too complicated or uses too many permissions so it's nice when someone actually appreciates it thank you, and yes it is difficult to figure out as i wanted customization per button rather than all 3 at once, i could have made it simpler and had one light control for all buttons at once but each button has it's own full set of settings icon, color, light indicator, movement, layer etc i don't find it complicated as i designed it but i understand if other people do.
I'm impressed. To be able to do that without root is awesome since this thing is in root limbo. As soon as I have 6 bucks I'll donate. I'm on an N9... Can't get the advanced option to work... Any thoughts?

well i am really sorry to say but the advanced option does not work on galaxy phones for some reason so the app has been made to block the advanced option to function, we tried to get it to work but it crashes the phones ui theres something with oneui so you'd need to use the mode that requires no root or software, the difference between advanced and simple is simply no transparency theres no other difference so you get all the same features as advanced but instead of modifying the navigationbar it will place one ontop of the old one i recommend doing this with gesture navigation enabled as then you get a very thin navigationbar as well as the gesture navigation, but i am so sorry for this i should have been more clear on that, made me sad considering you liked the app.
Sounds great. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!

you're welcome let me know if you need any help, as mentioned i do recommend enabling gesture navigation first this makes the navigationbar much thinner than usual it also allows you to use gesture navigation or taps at the same time.
