Need serious help with Huawei P Smart phone :( (NO IMEI and corrupt sys files) - Huawei P Smart Questions & Answers

Hello, I require some help with my phone which is a Huawei P Smart (running on oreo 8.0).
The problem im facing is that the firmware im using has many corrupt system files which stop the phone from running properly, so the IMEI does not work and apps such as the EngineeringMode app or MTK App doesn't help me change the IMEI.
Anyway, how I got here was from trying to unlock my bootloader. I used a program called Huawei Multi-Tool which helped me unlock my bootloader which worked perfectly fine. Then I proceeded to add TWRP which I'm not sure but was partially my fault as I flashed my ROM 4 times with the TWRP and after that my phone was soft-bricked. I used a SD Card to boot up on my phone but now It lacks on a lot of things!
I have tried to install official firmware again to reset but i get many errors like update failed and so on...
Please help me

[Q] U8800-51 CR GB Read-Only Mass Storage and wrong IMEI

Well, Hi!
A little history before the real problem.
My girlfriend bought a U8800-51 phone by my recommendations, because it's a great phone in this range of prices.
The phone had a problem. It reboot many times in a day (10~20 times) So I decided to upgrade the OS to GB with the gingermovida v1.1 ROM.
The phone stopped in the bootanimation secuence. I tried 5 times with the same result.
I downloaded the official 2.2.2 ROM from the Huawei website and put it in the SD card. I turned on the phone in download mode and started the install secuence. But stopped in the 2/2 step with the "Update Failed" message.
I tried to enter in recovery mode without success, with 5 different "recovery.img" files. In a thread in this forum somebody explained a method to back to stock froyo ROM using a .img file and the Roadkil's Disk Image tool, but with a AT&T img file.
My brother has the same phone so i made a backup of his phone and put it in my girlfriend phone. Everything works great! Boot OS and load all the information, 3G work and USB Mass storage work, so I did a wipe data - factory reset and everyrhing works again.
At this point I discovered that the IMEI is the same of my brother's phone. I tried many different tricks or tutorials (QPST, CDMA Tool, DFS, AT Command in Terminal, etc) and nothing changed. In the last try I upgraded the OS using CM7 movida v2 and 3G works, WiFi works, but I still have the same IMEI and a new problem came out. When I plug the USB cable and activate the Mass Storage Mode, only shows a Read Only CD drive with all SD Card files.
In the stock froyo ROM I went to the "Project Menu" and changed the USB options, but I can't remember in what option I leave it. In this ROM (CM7 movida v2) i can't go to this menu and check if I have the same Stock ROM configuration.
Besides, I didn't backed up my GF'S IMEI. So I don't know if it can be recovered.
She's gonna kill me, so I need a little help ASAP!
That's all. So here's the thing:
- I have the same IMEI of my brother's phone.
- Everything works except for the Read-Only Mass Storage Mode.
P.S: I don't know if the different driver that I installed affect something here.
Try to upgrade your phone, puting dload folder on sdcard, maybe it can fix your IMEI. About the mounting, I dont know what is happening, but maybe if you upgrade your OS, it will work fine..
What ROM can I use? The Official Huawei ROM (Movilnet U8800-51) didn't work (to solve the IMEI problem) If I try to downgrade using that ROM the phone stop in the 2 step and then I will need to do everything again.
What about B565? You can download it here: http://www.huaweidevice.com/cn/downloadCenter.do?method=toDownloadFile&flay=software&softid=NDEyMTU=
And I also found this topic, there is a user who says the solution so check it out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1513439
Well, that ROM is for PRO version of the U8800 phone and I have the U8800-51 version. Baseband and other thing are different between versions. I will try the steps of your link when my girlfriend let me try again
Sorry, my mistake :/
I dont own a u8800 51 but the software isnt the same as u8800?
No, unfortunately, like I said: Baseband and other tiny thing are differents :crying:
-.-" Wait a bit, maybe someone will help you
Do you have any sort of backup from where you were when the phone worked correctly?
that's why I don't share backup. The fw on the -51 is tightly locked. I'm surprised they allowed pink screen. Your better off going for warranty. Unless, you can open the background password. I'll look for an alternative fix.

Huawei u8800 pro stuck on image signature verification fail!

I am in need of help....
I have a Huawei u8800 pro. I upgraded it to ICS the official upgrade. the new one as in TWRP 2.8.6.0?
which version of ICS did you install B928?
if so did you:
check if baseband 404029 instead of 404020?
IMEI wasn't messed up during process?
follow pink screen unlock method?
where does it say image signature verify fail during which process?
I am not able boot the phone its....neither to recover or normal mode...the baseband was 404029..I think

If you were on B928 version, you can run pink screen unlock to install a custom recovery such as TWRP.
However if you're not able to boot, this possibly means you flashed a wrong firmware. double check if you have a u8800pro not the u8800 or u8800+ (i'm not sure about the + one) they have different firmware.
Overall if you have a u8800pro, i recommend installing the stock B928 following the official procedure, this is almost a foolproof method to fix any possible software issue you may have.
the link below should have all you need.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1736650
Solved the problem
The answer was so simple....If u want all the data present in your mobile download the boot loader unlocker from the website given above by sarsiroslayer..thx man
Paste the Update.App in folder called dload and the folder should be in the root of the sdcard...yes you need a sdcard...and then remove the battery of the phone so it switches off...then connect the phone to the USB wire without battery...and immediatly press the volume. Down, volume up and power button...so it goes to a pink screen..and remember the sdcard should already be placed in the phone...and yes if the phone does not go into pink screen and instead starts to update the software Olla ur phone is fixed......restart and all will be fine...
Ifthis did not work or u don't want any data download the official 2.3.5 android from the huawei site and place the update.app in dload folder and do the same thing as above....My phone is working..:highfive:
Remember remove the battery...before updating ....
Thx all for ur support..xda rocks...
I have typed the solution so even a begginer can utjnderstand...

Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro Rebranding Guide

Due to quite a bit of research, I now have faith in the rebranding method. I'd like to share the method and knowledge for rebranding with the XDA community.
Currently Available Rebrandings:
For Mate 9:
MHA-L29C432 (Dual sim, European version)
MHA-L29C10 (Dual sim, Russian version)
MHA-L09C432 (Single sim, European version)
MHA-AL00C00 (Dual sim, Chinese version)
For Mate 9 Pro:
LON-L29C636 (Mate 9 Pro, Int'l Version, Asia)
LON-L29C432 (Mate 9 Pro, Europe Version)
LON-AL00C00 (Chinese version)
Requirements:
1. (VERY IMPORTANT!!)THE DNS ON YOUR ROUTER MUST BE SET TO 37.114.61.203 -- Make sure this is done and it works before proceeding.MOD EDIT:Link to paid service removed If you can not set your DNS server on your wifi router, you might not be able to recover your phone. Changing windows DNS settings will not help!. The setting must be done on your wifi router. Consider this your warning!
2. External storage (SD card or USB OTG for Mate 9, and USB OTG for Mate 9 Pro)
3. Bootloader code
4. Ability to install TWRP (Check the TWRP thread)
5. MOD EDIT:Link to paid service removed A way to flash firmware to Mate 9.
(NOTE: The partition table is different between versions, and MOD EDIT: Link to paid service removed is the only method I know of right now that can handle changing those. If you use another method and brick your phone, please don't blame me.)
Steps:
0. Before starting, do a full factory reset from the Settings, Advanced Settings menu.
1. Unlock your bootloader, and install TWRP. For instructions doing this, check the TWRP thread.
2. With your external storage inserted into your phone, enter TWRP by holding Volume Up key without USB cable attached to your computer.
3. Once in TWRP, go to the backup menu, and make a backup of your oeminfo partition.
4. Turn off your phone.
5. Put the SD card or USB drive into your computer, look in the TWRP folder, and find the oeminfo backup.
6. Replace the files in the backup with the same files from the download link below for the version you want to rebrand to. Keep your original files somewhere safe so you can go back if you need to.
7. Put the SD card or USB drive back into the phone, boot back into TWRP, then restore the oeminfo partition you just modified.
8. REMOVED flash the firmware that matches the model you rebranded to. REMOVED
9. After the flash has finished, boot into recovery by holding volume up key. Choose the second option to wipe data/factory restore, then choose the third option to wipe cache. Your phone will now boot.
IF YOU HAVE TROUBLE AFTER FLASHING (Wrong version number, no OTA update in the menu, etc.):
1. Perform a factory reset from the setting menu, then do eRecovery again.
2. Ensure that you chose a compatible firmware.
NOTE:
It is very likely you will have trouble after the first flash. You will most likely need to flash TWICE with eRecovery.
oeminfo links:
Thank you for your help.
I've done the conversion almost as you sad but I encounter some problems.
So I started from MHA-AL00C00 and wanted to have MHA-L29C432
1. I've installed TWRP and backup-ed/ restored the oeminfo from your download link.
2. After the oeminfo restore and reboot the phone was in a booting loop - I could't get into TWRP anymore- I could only go into fastboot or into eRecovery.
3. As I didn't have the posibility to get access to modify the DNS on router (I was not home) I flashed MHA-L29C432B138 using HiSuite method.
After succsfully flashed I still have the normal bugs like directly flashing the EU software - Themes do not work, wallpaper changes to default, no Update, etc...
Right now on the phones it shoes :
Model Number : MHA-L29
Build number : NRD90M test-keys
Can you give some advice how I can rebrand it so it is full functional on EU software ? Is the eRecovery the only method I should use ?
Thanks

Hello.
To clarify, do you mean that you put the phone in fastboot and used HiSuite?
If it's possible, you should use eRecovery. I know that fastboot+HiSuite will not work correctly for rebranding (it will have the side effects you mentioned) but you might be able to try booting the phone, then using HiSuite update function.
But the way which is most successful is eRecovery. This goes for flashing regular updates as well. HiSuite is more convenient, but eRecovery is more reliable.

HI,
I put the phone in fastboot and used HiSUite to flash with funkyHuawei..
One more question : Now after the update when i put the phone in fastboot it shows as Phone Locked/ FRP unloked - is it normal ? SHould I do the enire procedure from the start to unlock the bootloader--> TWRP-->oeminfo--> reflash with FunkyHuawei or just reflash? to get the official update doesn't work neither from normal login or from fastboot.
Thanks

You don't need to touch TWRP again. Just use eRecovery method, and it should work. HiSuite/fastboot is only good for recovering a previous version, not good for flashing a new version.

Use erecovery to install the correct firmware.
Is it possible to rebrand from MHA-AL00 to MHA-L29C636, or MHA-L29C900. I'm living in China, and would like to receive OTA updates, I do have a SIM card from the Philippines. Thanks
Just to confirm , if you use HiSuite you will not get OTA and themes, etc just like reflashing without changing oeminfo. If you use eRecovery everything goes as intended. I haven't try to flash the firmware with Two or other similar. I just used funkyhuawei for both methods.
I wanna rebrand a phone (Chinese to International) but the monthly payment seems to me ridiculous, once I rebrand it I don't see the need to use the service anymore, it should be a one time payment.

P8 Lite Boot loop

I've been trying almost everything for days. When I turn on the phone the bootloader enters in a loop.
I can't access to recovery (vol up + power), not even in update mode(vol up & vol down + power).
The only thing I can access is the fastboot but my phone is locked and I don't the have the imei to unlock via calculator or the oficial huawei page.
If someone have any suggestions.

Ok i searched for ways to find an IMEI number and found couple of ways...
1) Look under/in the sim tray. It may be there (I didn't check this out)
2) Find the IMEI/MEID using Google Dashboard. This is Google's control center that can be accessed from any computer with a web browser. You will need to log in with the Google account associated with your Android phone. You can access Google Dashboard by visiting www.google.com/settings/dashboard Expand the "Android" section by clicking the "Android" heading.Locate your phone in the list. If you have multiple devices associated with your account, all of the devices will be displayed. Find the device that you are trying to retrieve the IMEI/MEID number for. (This works)
3) At last, you can try to remove the back case and remove the battery. This can help you in 2 ways. Firstly, there should be IMEI code present under the battery. Secondly, this may cause you to get out of bootloop

I've got a problem. My brother got the phone locked on NRD90M test-keys and can't roll back. I've tried getting into the SD card the UDPATE.APP for my model (VNS-L22) but when doing the three key method it shows an error message with something like "incompatibility with current software" and it just gives me the option to reboot the device. I have access to the device as it boots but things like camera stopped working (it's been a while since he did that and he just told me)
I've tried with the "Huawei Recovery Updater thread" here but I don't know if I am doing something wrong or what but it does not work.
Reading a bit more it seems I've to unlock bootloader and do a bunch of things, just wondering what do you think is the best approach or how can I get back to stock ROM, so we he can get OTA updates and have the device working without a problem.
He did this by using the Firmware Finder app from play store, so I guess he did an update and got the device on that state.
Device details:
EMUI Version: 5.0
Android Version: 7.0
Huawei P9 lite
Model: Huawei VNS-L22
I appreciate all the help you could provide,
Thanks!

Hello,
if you remember exactly the complete firmware your device were on
before been stucked on NRD90M test-keys, maybe using Firmware Finder ( FF )
you'll be able to force the update to a newer and working version..
( ex. mine was VNS-L31C432B381 and updated to B415 )
The other method is most complicated...
Unlock the bootloader, flash a custom recovery and use
Huawei Recovery Updater in order to reflash your stock rom.
Then you should use FF too to make an update and correctly
relock the bootloader.
Is you'll use those awesome apps don't forget to thank the developers.
Cheers

Yes I do, actually I just realized the one I could find here wasn't the same I had before so maybe I will try that one. I tried firmware finder from the app but it wasn't working properly, when downloading the FULL OTA files it started crashing and then I was not able to proceed with the "downgrade" now i've used the FF for PC and downloaded the files from FULL OTA, however there are 3 files. I am not sure what to put into the dload folder.
These are the files:
update.zip
update_data_full_hw_normal.zip
update_data_full_ice_cr.zip
As per my understanding I should place only the files from "update.zip" right? I also saw a few comments on a video that said put all content from all three files into the dload folder.
If you happen to know the answer I will appreciate it!
Hello,
I'm also stuck in this rom... But in my case I went from a custom ROM to it. But it blocked my bootloader, etc...
And I forgot my bootloader code
Now I have to unlock it and I will use DC-Unlocked but when I dial this number: *#*#2846579#*#* in this ROM it doesn't show anything!!! So I can't open Project Menu...
What can I do?
Thanks

Dude,
you cannot use DLOAD aka three buttons method
on nougat ( android 7 ) 'cause it wont work.
As i wrote you should know exactly the firmware your device were before the softbrick.
Getting 'nrd90m - test keys' firmware probably mean you already tried to use a wrong firmware.
I don't know whic firmware you downloaded, but i can assure you without that correct no methods will work.
As you can see in the attachment exists many custs ( C185, C569. C576, C635, C636, etc... )
and firmware ( Bxxx ) that indicate the region/brand were you live or where the device was sold when you bought it and if single or dual sim.
Without those info become a lot complicated bring back your device in an working state.
The last chance should be a rebrand but you need some files like OEMinfo zip but ever first you should unlock the bootloader, flash a custom recovery and use HWOTA method, but the risk
to completely brick the device is really high.
Example of a firmware : VNS-L31C432B415
VNS ( venus is the name of the device )
L31 ( is the version of the device )
C432 ( is the cust that indicate the region where was sold )
B415 ( is the running firmware/security patch on the device )
You had VNS-L22 C??? B???

Dude,
before attempting to unlock again the bootloader
you should try to force the update with Firmware Finder.
What was the firmware you were on before flashing your custom rom ?
Which custom firmware you were on ?
How you gone back to stock ?
Which stock firmware you used to go stock ?

So the firmware I had before doing that was VNS-L22C106B150.
What should I do with that if the android app is not working? I mean... I tried doing it with firmware finder and it didn't work, used proxy thing, dns thing, downloaded the files (multiple errors, files corrupted) and it is not my internet connection, it's the app. I did downloaded the files on the Windows app

Ok, if you sure your firmware are L22C106, things aren't so good.
Cannot make an update, can make a downgrade but you need the correct rollback package
and i don't know were you can find it, but in any case you couldn't re-upgrade to android 7.
Checking in the FF PC 's app, as you can see, no nougat
versions of this firmware are present. Which version you downloaded before ?
If you are really sure about that firmware, you have only a possibility, which is
make a rebrand but it's a bit complicated and really dangerous.
Choise remain yours, you can find some guides how to do a rebrand, just search
in the p9 lite threads.
Cheers
