Night-Core kernel for Redmi 5A
I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead sd cards, explosions, nuclear wars, alarm applications getting failed, please read the first 3 posts (features, faq, settings) carefully before flashing this kernel to make sure everything goes well with your installation.
This kernel will focus on quality over quantity, I will add only those features which don't cause instability and really improve performance or battery life of our device. I like to test my changes properly before release and keep stability the topmost priority, I don't guarantee weekly or nightly builds, updates will be given whenever required.

Cant change power suspend mode to hybrid it reverts back to lcd panel in kernal auditor>misc, i thought to change it as it saves battery.

@Vony C Can I have your source code please? I would love to see that how you managed to overclock Snapdragon 425 upto 3.8GHz.

I don't think it is actually an overclock. Battery drainage is about the same under a stress test. I'm getting worse scores according to Passmark PerformanceTest. I was already sceptical of this. That's a 200%+ overclock, which is just about impossible on any CPU.

Exactly! He is just fooling users by just changing the values instead of actually doing something LMAO. And for god sake this much overclock is not possible for a device like Riva or even many of the other flagships.

Confirmed. THE CPU OVERCLOCK IS FAKECPU is slower than 1651MHz. If I set the CPU to a max of 1401MHz in Kernel Auditor, the performance is like 960MHz. The number is clearly scaled up. I don't know how much.
I don't understand. What is stopping the developer from giving us an OPTION for 3.8GHz, but set the default to something every device can achieve, like 1.61GHz. Then, the individual user can tweak their max clock to what their device is capable, because every CPU is different. I'm going to look at the battery life, and if that offers no substantial improvement over Catalyst, then I'm going to switch back.
Interestingly, the memory seems to be slightly faster.
In terms of desktop CPUs, people are extremely lucky to get an overclock of 50%. From 1.4GHz to 3.8GHz is absolutely impossible.
---------- Post added at 08:15 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:13 AM ----------
And what is this adding cores thing? Adding virtual cores? You cannot add more CPU cores by software. And I don't think the SD 425 supports SMT or hyperthreading anyway.
---------- Post added at 08:20 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:15 AM ----------
One last thing, the display is not overclocked. Still 60Hz.

Wifi is exported as .ko module (as MIUI requires) and aosp/cm requires as internal object driver.
Um just noticed on 7.9.21 kernel auditor can't save changes on boot so "on boot" is empty meaning you have to make all changes manually after each boot. Also I noticed my phone won't go down to deep sleep. MI 5s Plus.
Correction, my phone goes down to deep sleep but for like 15seconds from a full charged battery down to 61% will get back to you once I leave the phone to settle. I know I haven't used the phone as much as the stats state.

Give the autostart permission to kernel adiutor for applying changes at boot. Deep sleep it's perfectly working on my mi note 2. Check your battery stats with wakelock detector and see which apps are draining your battery. Also disable the gentle fair sleeper from Kernel adiutor

In case some one wants to know more about Lionfish
Summary:
PERFORMANCE: GREAT, BATTERY LIFE: GREAT, COMPATIBILITY: GOOD
Description:
The Lionfish governor combines traits of the conservative, ondemand, and interactive governors. It is designed to maximize battery life without noticeably impacting performance. It responds quickly to heavy loads while staying within the region of optimal CPU performance per watt. With moderate loads, it periodically votes to raise, maintain, or decrease the frequency. When there are enough votes to change the frequency, it is ramped up and down gradually. The voting mechanism reduces frequency jitter compared to ondemand and conservative. squid2's testing had found that this governor uses moderate frequencies (where efficiency is optimal) more effectively than interactive, ondemand, and conservative. This improved frequency distribution results in a moderate reduction in CPU power consumption while maintaining responsiveness comparable to the interactive governor.

No, you don't need to flash the entire ROM. Only flash the backup boot image because the kernel resides inside the boot sector.

I thought you told him to flash another 4.9 kernel which supports MIUI. Maybe I got something wrong, because this is 4.9 kernel discussion thread

No i did not tell him to flash another 4.9 kernel, Nito have 4.9 kernel for AOSP 9 and 10, and Nito also have 3.18 kernel for miui.. so i tell him to use that for MIUI.
Are there hotplugs for cores in this kernel. without that battery drainage cant be controlled.
currently all kernels have discarded it i assume.

Your recovery should have backup function, use it to backup your boot
Using this kernel in conjunction with crdroid. It's fine. But will monitor battery consumption. I hope that the sudden freezing of rom is fixed with this one. And also, is there a possible way to switch off the 2 cpu big cores? I can't do it in smartpack.
Can i use in miui 12 .eu ?

Did you read op? It's said "no support for miui"
Bro is it possible to overclock the screen refresh rate of mi8 se? Because it feels like the touch response is enhance by using this kernel. Just asking.

You should use the Q&A thread instead of spamming multiple thread with this question. I think I saw a dtbo image allowing 72 and 84 Hertz but honestly you won't see a big difference and a higher refresh rate will drain your battery faster and on a long term use it could burn your display as it's not supposed to handle such frequencies. Do it at your own risk
Great Work .. Thanks Devs ...??
Can I use this kernel with Pixel experience rom [A11]. Will there be any different?
