Speakerphone (loudness, clarity) - Xiaomi Poco F1 Real Life Review

Proper etiquette aside (hint: don't use speakerphone while doing your "business" in a public bathroom), rate this thread to express how you think the Xiaomi Poco F1's speakerphone performs. A higher rating indicates that you love it: it's loud and it's clear.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

Frankly, I'm disappointed by speakerphone
I can barely here what the other person is saying if I'm in noisy room.
Btw, it's just the call output through speakerphone that I'm unimpressed with, songs play pretty loud through speaker. One more thing I'd like to mention is, system ringtones sound louder than local files set as ringtones. This doesn't mean their sound is inadequate, it's just lower than system ringtones.

Is you facing discord mic issue while using earphone after recent update?
Is you are facing discord mic issue while using earphone after recent update of Miui 9.6.18.0
i am facinf 2 issues mainly
1- sound via pubg game is very unclear and broken and ofcourse very low after update while using earphone.
2-Mic is not working only with discord while using earphone its working fine with other applications.
Note- Earphone is not broken and i also tried other earphone same earphone working fine while calls and other stuff except this two.
Thanks.

The way the stereo speaker setup is implemented is so poor. For a stereo audio, there are two channels, left and right. One comes via the bottom firing speaker and the other comes via the earpiece. Just play a song where stereo content is significantly visible. You'll note that the channel that's played via earpiece is not at all audible, say 10% of the main speaker. It makes like an entire channel is missing. This is so disappointing.
Now, the dev team could do two things.
1) Increase the gain in the earpiece such that it becomes significantly louder. (But there is a risk of damaging the earpiece though)
2) We don't need stereo speakers at all! Disable the earpiece speaker and use just the bottom firing speaker for both right and left channels. (This is somewhat practical I guess)
Hope the stereo speaker issue is resolved soon.

Tried it and it uses both speakers anyway and audio is better with mono audio setting turned off.

Mono uses both speakers but they don't have any specific channels, ie both will play same mono audio so your channel issue should've been fixed.

yes. I just felt like the quality is better when in stereo than when in mono.

The earpiece is very unclear unlike Samsung which the earpiece is very clear.

The sound is very good, i don't know why people doesn't like it. The sound is strong and well balanced.
Don't imagine you will get a premium hi-fi audio quality with a smartphone

Audio in STEREO mode CAUSES serious issues (not only in FM Radio)
The FM Radio have issue which PREVENT the using the radio! :crying: The volume drops down up to be absolutely silent every ~10-12 seconds.
But not only the FM Radio suffers, the NEUTRON player too.
The problems exists only when the MIUI plays\operate with audio in STEREO mode. If you set audio to be MONO (System&Device --> Additional settings --> Accessibility --> AUDIO & ON-SCREEN-TEXT --> Mono audio) then the radio will not silent periodically.
Please tell this to the developers!
(The Neutron player have the issues when plugging the headphones - it stops to play streamed audio and not play it after the player restarts only once, but start to play the streams after two restarts only.
An addition issue when Neutron player used: when 3.5 plug disconnected, then the Pocophone plays short part of streamed audio after ~0.5 sec delay and then it can not be used without two restarts of the player.
The Neutron player work well when the MIUI converts (as this was described before) the audio to MONO)
NOTE:The issue with STEREO MODE AUDIO is manifesting on the genuine Pocophone Device which is managed by the LAST OFFICIAL GLOBAL MIUI ROM 10.2.3.0, as all this is stated on the following Screenshot:

Speaker Crackling
Since past 2-3 days my device POCO F1 showed up the loudspeaker Crackling issue.
Whenever I play some music the Crackling sounds occurs and when the device is on Silent mode, low crackling sound also occurs when I lock/unlock the screen, when app notification comes up, etc. Is it a hardware issue??

disappointed by the stereo speakers as the one of them used while calling is not loud ..... sound looks missing that extra punch compared to my late LG v20, and of course the microphone and noise cancelling is absolutely terrible on this phone especially when its on speaker mode in calls ( phone calls, duo calls, messenger telegram and whatsapp calls are have the same $hitty problem with echo and loud voices )

Music output Quality is Pathetic.. I stand corrected please.

Load Music, connect the earphone and the output sount quality is pathetic/worse even compare to the XDA ATOM/Exec or for that matter any other WM device I owned in past. On the other side the speaker output quality is still OK. The sound through the earphone ecos..sometimeit the voice goes low and instruments are high... normally this happens when you switch on the 3D surround on other devices like samsung Innov8. But the in X1 the quality is worse.. I even took it to the sony service they reloaded the ROM a fresh but the problems still remains. IS IT THE ACCEPTED SOUND QUALITY FROM X1. How about other owners .. do they get better sound output/quality through earphone. Is there anything I am doing wrong, Kindly suggest.
really? i find the music quality more than good enough. what headphones are you using?
The Headphone quality is f*cking good!!! I havn't heard this kinda bass on my I-Mate Jam or HTC TyTN II.
One thing is correct, the quality of the original earpieces is bad.
I got ones from creative. The one that go into you're ear.
The speaker quality..... Don't talk about it. Hate it
I'm using Sennheiser CX400 earphones and the sound quality is actually better than my iPod 5g.

The headphones supplied with this phone are suprisingly high quality ones. I have my own Phillips branded ones however.
Aside from the headphones, I think you issue is with the software you use. I found that WMPlayer is pretty crap when it comes to playing my favourite tracks. I use PocketPlayer and also Pocket Music, which have some very good equaliser functions. They make a big difference.
I also find the sound quality f*cking good!!
I expected the worse because it's a WM device, but it exceeded my expectations. Also using Creative ear-ins (EP-630)
I think there is a bug in the Sony Media Player software that can result in a seemingly poor quality sound output.
I've found that when opening the media player for the first time and playing a track the soundstage of the music sounds like its collapsed (lacking any high end or openess in the stereo image). If you then tap pause and then play again all of a sudden the soundstage opens out and the sound quality is very good.
Since I've turned on the "clicking" noise for screen taps, the above bug doesn't occur so often.
However, if I receive a call whilst listening to music after subsequently hanging up the bug re-appears.
Anyone else getting this?

I have this too, but I don't think the bug is mediapanel related only.
I get this when I use S2P, Wmplayer and the media panel.
Sounds almost like flat mono before I tap pause and then play again..
I don't see this as a huge bug, but it can get annoying.
It depends on the mood I'm in..
can anyone compare the speakerphone to a nokia n73 or n70?
It's definitely weaker than the N73 one.
so much so its sickening or just a tiny bit? how bad are we talking about here :S?
I was expecting this thread to be about the poor speakerphone quality.... which it is. I know of no WM phone with a good speakerphone so I wasn't expecting it to be as good as my N95's. However, music through headphone jack is as good, or perhaps even better than my N95 (not as much background hiss as the N95). I use Shure SE430's (pretty expensive earphones) and I find the music playback to be quite good. I even hook the X1 up to my Logitech Z5500 speakers through the Line-in jack and I can pretty much DJ a party with the phone and it sounds as good as if the songs were being played off my computer. (This is all through the SE Multimedia Panel btw. I get similar results with CorePlayer or Windows Media Player).
The only problem I have with the media panel is I can't receive calls with it open. That may or may not be a plus/minus to some people, but I guess it's ok. When people call me, it goes straight to voicemail. The only way I can receive calls with music playing is to go back to the today screen (with the music still going), which works out ok too, since I hold the end key to lock the phone, which brings it back to the Today screen before locking.
worst audio player?? are you kidding?
sorry, but thats definitly NOT TRUE.

the x1 has got the best and most powerfull audio out, i`ve tested. (but not compared with n70/73)
i wrote it few days ago in the accessoires threat.
i use the Ultimate Ears Triple.fi 10 Pro Inear
with 3 drivers/speakers per earpiece. (like a 3 way oldschool musik speaker)
i`ve tested my ue10pro headsets with a lot of other mp3 players and mobile phones.
but the X1 is the first player, who can unleash the power to drive the UE 10 pro to there limit....
only my sondcard a creative x-fi has got enough power to blast your ears/tympanic membrane....
the base is unbeleavable! the headset can go down to 10hz. and the high tones are crisp, sharp, clear. but a little
to soft from the middle to the highest frequency. but this could be fixed with the equalizer/audio booster.
if you set the first base frequency to +12 and the second slider to -10, you can formerly 'feel' the extreme deep bases.
you cant beleave, that you are not in a club!
don`t use the x1+ue10 for longer time on maximum power. thats very risky for your ears. trust me.
the only thing is, you have to use coreplayer and calibrate the equalizer.
or use a new custom rom (touch it hd) with integrated audio booster.
holy ****, that rulez!!
Ultimate Ears Triple.fi 10 Pro Inear (~300$-400$)
http://www.ultimateears.com/_ultimat...escription.php
these devices with othoplastic, spezially for your ears. and a laser burns your name into the headsets.
if you have 900$ bucks into your pocket, take a look at that:
http://www.ultimateears.com/_ultimat...escription.php
or 1150$? with 4 audio drivers/speaker per ear!!
http://www.ultimateears.com/_ultimat...escription.php
this is the last headset you buy! the cables are replaceble with translucent cables and iphone button.
no more broken headset cables/wires.
my advice, use coreplayer. DONT adjust the equalizer/tone faders more then 12 db.
you will be surprised.
(core is able to adjust more than 12db/slider. more then 12db will bring disharmonies and ugly subtones and crickeling)
(the audio booster could only adjust 6 db. thats not enough for xtreme bases.
but dont use in coreplayer the 2 lowest faders both to +12. thats to much base and
the headsets and the power amp will be very unprecise and roar/rumble and you run into danger to burn the headset
for good kickbase decrase the lowest fader to -3 and the second fader to +12, the 3th to +6. increase the high tones 1-4 db.
for good ultra deep base drums, set the lowest frequenzy +9 or +12, and the second one to -2, the third 0 db.
i have a ultimate ear fi 5 pro headphones with two driver lower is range then DOMin8or tri fi 10 pro. i get quite good results but not on the default player. I only use touch flo 3d in -built music player with audio booster, if you know how to set it , i guarantee you get better sound then walkman phone. i prefer bass and vocal no to be so dull. get the touch flo 3d music player set it to rock mode first then try to made this mode to v shape by just shifting the first two bar to be same as the last two bar, trust me even if you are using your default headphones, you will notice the difference

speaker phone n95 8gb i think is the best
try this setting on audio booster
possibly, but i will it verify by my own. for me, this is the best combo i`ve tested. and ths x1 has got exactly that power, i`ve searched for. more power will destruct my/your ears
i like this unhealthy power of X1. and at 90% power, the sound is very precise and defined.
and 90% is my personal max. and i like it loud. but 100% ? not with me. *G
audio booster has got other cross over frequencies. so my advice/hint could not used with audio booster. audio booster has a range of +-6 db. thats not as good as cores +-12db(possible +-18, but most time useless. only for spezial noise filtering. for example in microphone recordings)
the most players output power broken down, if i increased the base and at high volume.
with other players, you can formaly feel the missing amp power. (ipod nano iv suuuxxxxxx, cheap no name mp3 player, orbit, diamond, nokia 6233, creative zen v plus. but zen v was the best.(not the best menu, but good sound quali)
but now the x1 is my favorit device)
imho the x1 has got a good power amp.
im not sure will it fit everyone style but after some tunning i think this settings best for me to go for on default earphones, i have been looking for post how to optimized sound quality, here is one, hopefully more will share there experience, i bought the x1 because of the 3.5mm connector if x1 doesnt has it i wont even look up to x1!

Bassless audio player sound in HTC diamond

Did you guys notice that the sound quality in htc audio output when we listen to music is almost without the bass even with bass boost or audio booster,at first i thought that it was due to lack of good audio player so i tried Pocket tunes and coreplayer but both didn't give any improvement ,its like you are listening to music with the twitter and without the bass,i tried increasing the audio quality but in vain ..its like almost horrible when it comes to audio music but pocket tunes and coreplayer in palmOS treo sounds very good with the volumes care software and even without it,the bass that it gives is almost like live..Then again I thought that it was the headset that is giving me the problem but when I listen to FM radio the sound quality is just superb so obviously its not the headset or the hardware but the audio codec that are used in the music player so I thought it will be better if there were a software like Volume care for Diamond ..i think that will do the trick.I will very thankful if any one can suggest me a way to improve the bad bassless sound quality either by enhancing software or another music player
DId you try adjusting the equalizer in the other audio software?
Are you referring to the old audio player bug where you would hear no bass at all when headphones were plugged in whilst audio booser was enabled?
Funny you should mention the FM radio sound being superb as I struggle to hear anything as the volume is too low
Yes I have tried the equalizer with full bass boost and custom mode and even volume boost feature available in pocket tunes ..there is a huge difference in FM Radio sound quality and the audio player sound quality, former gives the live like sound quality and latter is like i said its listening to twitter despite the fact that the ear piece is HTC original from the box and another thing ..don't you have the same problem?? or is it my HTC only..have you notice the FM radio and audio player sound difference..in FM radio the drum and the bass are thumping sound and very good but in audio player the drum sounds like a distance can cover banging and no bass at all(in the ear piece).

By old audio player bug means what?i don't understand.. Is there a new audio player upgrade available..if their is a new audio upgrade which solve these problems then can you point me to the right direction..your FM radio sound is too low mine is perfectly OK ..might be due to poor signal..and besides i have mention its not only the internal audio player but coreplayer and pocket tunes 4.1 too
Problem solved Did hardSPL and Radio upgrade but I think it wasn't by this coz it had nothing to do with sound quality ..may be all i needed was a hard reset which was done automatically when hard SPL upgrade was done..thanks to all
Is there a tool to reduce bass ? I have Audio Booster, but people says it has bug...so is there different tool ?
I got coreplayer, but there is no way to reduce bass in equalizer..Thanks

Hi
I've experienced something similar:
Tinny sound (no bass) hard reset everything fine.
Restore my SPB clone (push mail, all my apps) tinny sound again.
Interstingly, calls via the headset are lovely and bassy but any audio application playing files sounds really tinny and quiet.
I suspect the new version of Schapps advanced config myself as it seems to have started around the time I installed it and made my first change of some of the settings.
QUESTION: What settings in Schapps advanced config or Diamond Tweaks might I have missed? Are there any registry keys that I can delete to restore all the sound to default?
Yours
Leon
"People of Judea, Wome is your fwiend"
there's a work around for this that involves
Plugging in your headphones (vital!)
Closing Windows Media (or any other player)
Going to Audio Booster
Turn off Audio Booster
Start player - sound back to normal (sourced from Modaco)

Sound quality through headphones

It is noticed that while listening through headphones that the sound is being affected by some sort of 3D/spacial/EQ process that might give the impression of "punch" for movies but at the expense of phase-y sounding vocals and smeared high notes for music.
Yikes. Thst stuff is not good for music quality. No way to turn off? The settings options seems kind of scarce.
After playing around with various music players and headphones it seems that the audio is now OK.
Not sure what happened. It may have been a headphone jack issue. Audio sounds great now.
Oooops!
There is an issue with sound quality. Compared it to a Rockbox'ed Sandisk Clip Zip with a very wide stereo track 2-channel stereo track (fyi -- Brook Benton's "Kiddio" 1960). There is some EQ bast boost and high frequency crossfeed that narrows the stereo separation. I'm going to boot from CM and see if the problem persists.
For video I would not notice the issue, but could get to me listening to music with my Klipsch S4 buds.
Update:
It is not bad. Seems part of the issue is low gain which can be increased with Volume+ or other similar app function.
Volume+ did the trick for me. Jamming to some Coheed at the moment. Sounds as good as my other tablets now
The problem was never with volume -- I think stock has plenty of volume for driving Audio Technica ATH-900x. The problem is with some sort of audio processing that affects the soundstage and frequency response.
I am not hearing it using the Google player app. Gain is not the same as volume. Both need to correlate or weak quality.
SRS processing is used and applied at the headphone output. See HD+ file \system\etc\srs_processing.cfg
This is what I use, have my settings set to Jazz "my preference", audio sounds great, not talking about low resolution MP3's.

I understand the config issue, but I am not hearing it. I should hear the sound manipulation with cymbal decay as example, but not hearing it. Weird.

A7 Dolby Atmos Speakers Hiss at Low Volume Only

First I need to add that I find the so much advertised two DACs of the Axon very highly exaggerated in terms of power. They are just too weak, even compared to my previous Note 3, both on headphones and speakers.
Second, they seem to not be able to be effectively used on almost any app since 98% of apps do not utilise them by default and one cannot change it.
If you tweak Dolby Atmos a bit you can get it to amplify the general audio output, both on speakers and headphones, and this is why I use it predominantly. I am on the B09 update on A2017G and it is still very buggy. No matter what setting I choose, i.e. Music, Voice, Game, Custom, when I leave the Dolby Atmos screen it drops sound for a second and always resets to Movie, no matter what. Also the sound regularly interrupts, especially when unlocking screen or doing things in the background, or just on its own.
What annoys me most however from when I bought the phone is that at very low or low volume (only on speakers), when there is speach or the music starts, there is some kind of hissing, ss/sh-ing sound corresponding to the words said or the tiny beats of the music played. It's like a background noise added on purpose simultaneously with special, mostly high frequencies, i.e. words, tiny/starting percussions or similar, no matter the Dolby Atmos setting. This noise stays apparently at all times, it just is not heard when more, mostly low and middle frequencies get in. This "noise" is not available when no Dolby Atmos is used, however the volume then drops by a few levels down. Good or bad, Atmos also adds some spatial effect to the sound, which is why I like it for...
Does anyone of you, an A2017G or A2017U user, observe similar behaviour on your device? Is Dolby Atmos working better for you, i.e. unconditionally steady settings, no low volume added speakers noise, no sound interruptions?
I also noticed browsers do not get use of the DACs/Dolby Atmos, i.e. YouTube, online videos, many video players. My favourite before Aimp was unable to do so also so I had to transfer to Jet Audio and PlayerPro, both of which can work with the Dolby.
Why did ZTE add (two) DACs when they couldn't be used by 95% of the apps and games by default and even manually, also there seems to be no gain in output at all? Was this the case with the Lenovo Phab2 Pro's Dolby Atmos? For the "regulated hiss" (not present on headphones at all) I cannot currently watch any movies on the phone with Dolby Atmos enabled, unless at very high speakers volume. It hisses so badly every time a word is pronounced or some subtle 'invisible' sound plays. The same is with playing music...
I dont use Dolby when I listen to music - it makes everything so much worse and much quieter. Listening to flacs on stock music player with Super HiFi on. No hisses on low or high sound levels. Silence is silent. as for speakers - no hiss also.
ZTE did not add 2 DACs for music, 1 is for music other one is for audio recording which is records at 128kbps. and quality.. I dunno it's quite clear, I had recorded a room full of people, with two girls singing and some people chatting in backgroud and I can hear everything. but sound itself if on the lower end, girls vocals are lower than they are, everything seems shifted to lower sound spectrum.
Tooks some time and checked spectrum of that sound file 50-2000Hz. everything over 2kHz is just a noise.
and a little edit: it records nothing less than 50Hz - total silence there.
The stock player is OK but it's lacking on features, also not sure if it can play video.
I have noticed the low volume speakers "noise" with Dolby on when watching movies using almost any player - VLC, BS, MX and more. If I go above 30-40% volume it seems to disappear, but more like you don't hear it and it stays. I say "noise" but it is like a hissing/ss-ing sound added to sole frequences only, i.e. speech only or single instruments. When more frequencies get in, you don't hear it. Weird these don't exist at all with the Snapdragon amplifier, i.e. when Dolby is off.
https://community.zteusa.com/thread/12853, here is a similar thread in the ZTE USA community. I believe it has something to do with the Axon's own amp or its software and happens at low volume only. There was a thread in Reddit exactly about what I am reporting but I can't find it now.
If you go to your phone's Music\Settings\Dolby Atmos app, then move all sliders up you will notice that it significantly increases the overall volume when Dolby is on. So it's not low, if you change it, it boosts up the volume by at least 30%. On another note, the Axon's mic recording quality is quite poor/muffled, even compared to the old Note 3, hopefully they will improve it at least a bit by some future update.
I bought the A7 exclusively for its audio capabilities so am disappointed that I have to report insufficiencies in this exact area.
Does your Dolby Atmos set itself to Movie only if you exit the Music app? Are there any drops in sound when it's on and you do something in the background?
There are two DACs. "AKM AK4961 DSP CODEC, which can be considered the primary chipset for Hi-Fi audio playback and recording. The AKM AK4490EN DAC is an independent Hi-Fi audio sampler". So AK4961 works in standard mode and AK4490EN in Super mode. ADC is only in AK4961.
You can consider rooting your device and install ViperFX or the whole A.R.I.S.E. sound system. That will solve all the problems with sound output. However the sound recording filtering is surprising, leaving only the vocal spectrum is not normal. There should be a setting somewhere.
I have the Chinese A2017 model running Oreo & have just noticed this hissing sound which can be heard at lower volumes when I keep speakers close to my ear. I don't hear any hissing sound using headphones. I wonder if it's always been there or it's a hardware/software issue. I'm probably gonna hard reset the phone to see if it goes away. Anyone could fix it?

Bad headphones sound after update to Nougat

Hello all ZF3 owners,
I own ze520kl model and It is just me or sound is terrible after updating to Android 7? I have (almost) no bass sounds, anyone else feels this kind of difference? Equalizer makes a little of difference, but not like previously did on Android 6.0.
2 different set of headphones and 2 different player apps.
Regards,
Dan.
Others reported the same.
Looks like I have to hold on to update my phone.
The Android N update for the Zenfone 3 enables AudioWizard audio processing with wired headphones, meaning that any EQ you have on your phone's speakers will carry over to the headphones. There also may be a bug that activates certain AudioWizard presets on headphones without warning. Either way, you can fix the problem of headphone audio sounding tinny or weird by going into the Sound and Vibration settings menu while your headphones are plugged in, and selecting AudioWizard. Once in AudioWizard, set the preferences to your liking or just select Pure mode if you don't want any EQ or anything like that.
Big thanks, it worked like a charm!
Regards!

Will try that settings. Thanks for the advice. :good::good::good:
Sorry for reviving this old thread. I updated to Nougat the day I got this phone and learned that audio quality is worse than my last phone, even with AudioWizard set to Pure. Will audio sound better with the AudioWizard app and service disabled?

I also found two audio packages, "com.asus.maxxaudio" and "com.asus.maxxaudiowizard" which I can't disable via ADB because I'm not rooted.
