Which 930T rom do I need, I had gotten one and it "Auth Failed!" during the flash, now I'm left with "! Use emergency recovery software" brick. Can get back into Odin Download mode, just don't know which rom I need.
Sim is unlocked.

Evidently you did not read basics about bootloader prior to starting flash.
Now you can flash back to your original bootloader 6 sprint rom to revive the phone.
You cannot flash your phone to Tmobile rom due to bootloader issues, but you may be able to use sprint phone on Tmobile. network.

His listed version would make it seem like he is on BL V6 - which should be able to be flashed. Or am I wrong?

Well there chief, would you be so kind to point me to the "Basics" about the bootloader, because this site is ****ing terrible for finding stuff. Sorry I'm not going to spend 14 hours combing XDA to find something that's "Basic." No matter what bootloader it is; there should be a way to roll it back, after all it's just a rom chip, even if I need to flash a custom first, there should be a way to do it.

It is BLV6, which apparently doesn't accept any T or U roms, the only rom that works is the stock;

There has to be a way to load a custom bootloader. The answer "It's impossible" is wrong plainly. The solution is to load a custom bootloader that is compatible with the T and U roms, I know this can be done as I've seen it done. I just need a little help finding compatible bootloaders.

You can't flash T-mobile rom on Sprint phone because of bootloader updated by sprint if you bricked your phone with bootloader 6 on it you should flash this to recover your phone.

Galaxy S5 chinese clone ROOT problem

Hello. Recently I got Galaxy S5. Then after trying to root it I realized it's a chinese clone which haa complicated my life. I tried to root it and put in a wrong version of Clockworkmod. As a result, I fortunately haven't bricked the phone, but my bootloader is not working anymore. It doesn't load up. Only thing that works is the factory mode. Now the problem is - I want to get the phone to it's stock ROM and firmware, but because there is no way to access bootloader, nor download mode, I can't use Odin to do so. Is there any way I could flash the phone with a stock ROM and make the bootloader work again? The OS works fine, only thing that doesn't work is the bootloader. Thank you.
Samsung Galaxy S5 clone (G900S - South Korean), MT6589. Android version 4.4.2 Kit Kat, Kernel version 3.4.5, rooted.
You need to identify what model you have, obtain the stock firmware for that model and restore that. There are forums that concentrate on the clone models, use Google to find them, and they will go into more detail about your options.
Beware that many things on XDA will brick or worse a clone as the apps and advice here are not intended for a clone which is completely different under the hood.

Thank you for your reply. Well tge stock firmware is secondary for me. The problem is with the corrupt bootloader. I think it tries to load the CWM, but due to it's incompatibility it cannot. Is there any way to replace the bootloader only? Without the working bootloader, I can't do anything to fix it or to flash a custom ROM. I haven't find anything related to it. Or at least not yet.

Try to get your money back bro. If it's a chinese clone s5 God only knows what it's running. It's not a Samsung nor an s5 for that matter so the recovery and Odin won't work.

Well, everything worked well until I tried to flash it. The reason was corrupt GPS. I found a way to fix the GPS but it required root and somehow I clashed it with incorrect CWM and the problem was born :/

Dude, get out of this forum or you`ll break your device permanently. You don`t have a Galaxy S5 and thuss neither a Qualcomm 801 cpu fow which these roms are build for. Find a forum somewhere for your device. Good luck
A normal (full) software image would include a bootloader. Separating a bootloader is much less common.
And as several people have already warned you.. quite a lot of the advice, procedures, firmware, et cetera on XDA will further damage your clone. Your clone may look like an S5 but it is very different internally. If you truly want a completely unusable phone, a literal paperweight, then continue.
Find another forum that has firmware and advice on how to program your specific clone.

Was the purchase of this clone made inside or outside of the USA?

[Q] Seriously desperate...

Ready to sell this phone... tried everything I know how to try... Dev Edition Verizon S5, CAN'T UPGRADE from stock NCG. The most I can do it root... any ROM I flash is nonfunctional on Verizon's network with NO SIGNAL. Replaced SIM, flashed modems, etc etc... I think I'm just not sure how to do it with a dev edition... seriously feel like I'm missing a step. Would like to start from scratch. Does anyone have a stock image of a G900V Dev Edition I could work from, since I'm starting to think the one I've been working from is somehow the incorrect version. Thanks!

I would but I'm trying to avoid locking the bootloader, if possible. Didn't intend on having a developer device, but now that I do, I'd like to try to maintain it's use as one. Bought this phone on swappa, seller didn't give any indication that it was a developer device. Now I'm concerned he did something to it prior to selling that is causing me difficulties. I don't think I should be having these network difficulties, but there could very well be something I'm supposed to be doing with the modem that I'm just unaware of. I figure if I can get back to the way this phone was when it was new (when the original seller bought it) I'd at least have a clean slate to work with.

I don't think so, but thanks... I think that's the same device firmware that the retail version comes with, which will lock my bootloader. I've actually considered just flashing it anyway and saying the hell with an unlocked bootloader, since I didn't really intend to have one to begin with and apparently there's nothing I can do with it, anyway (none of the unified builds work on my device, anyway) but this is a last-ditch effort to preserve it if i can, and I'm hoping some dev will be willing to help me diagnose my problem.

It's not like there's a ton of development going on for Dev edition. I'm loving the retail version of the phone just rooted and running some Xposed. Like it so much, I went out and got one for the wife too and I paid full retail for both to keep my old unlimited data plan. Hers I just left out of the box stock. Will be interested to see how Lolipop looks when it drops to her phone. Sure hope we keep root with Lolipop, I use the heck out of my hotspot, to the tune of about 70gb/mo ...

I'm far from a developer, but this may help. I also bought the phone without realizing what it was I was getting into and had similar problems flashing the Optimal rom on my dev edition s5. I could flash but phone would hang on the activation screen with no signal. I eventually succeeded. As near as I can recall this is what I did:
I dirty flashed Beantown 4.4.4 rom (twrp) over my 4.4.2 stock firmware. then flashed n12 firmware (included stock kernel, and modem) from dev edition make an update .tar thread (odin) (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56604757&postcount=2). I did a factory reset after flashing. Switched to art. Flashed optimal with clean reset, but did not flash kernel. Later flashed koontsez 4.4.4 kernel. Still running Optimal
Good luck.

Had marginal success using this method... Have been able to maintain a 3G signal, but no LTE after first boot. Rather, when I first booted, I had LTE and thought I was good, but since my first reboot, I can only get 3G and nothing I do can get it back so far.

INTRO
Hey guys. I'm french Canadian (please understand my bad written )
and thanks to the phone I choosed (s5 active g870w telus)
I'm becoming pretty much bilingual I've checked all over
around The Web and over this forum. And can't find an accurate
answer . I know I picked the wrong phone for rooting but
as a construction worker it was a good compromise.
DONE AND SEARCHED
My Samsung Galaxy s5 Active g870w from Telus
is still on 4.4.2 since there is no and there will not be
any update for a while.
I managed to used the g900w8 version of
Chain fire auto root method using Odin 3.09
to get roots.
I have also succès to flash Unity 2.0.1 rom.
So far I figured that my version can count as
the Canadian version of the s5 small g900w8. (I may be wrong)
I found a stock Firmware (that accualy make my
lies in russian ) Wich I used a lot lately due to all
my soft brick.
My goal is to be able to upgrade to a nice custom rom
on lollipop. I was hoping Fusion. And as for the recovery
TWRP would be my choice if it was possible.
Now I am stuck trying to install TWRP. I have followed
multiple guide. I have tried to install from TWRP manager
the version 2.8.6.0 klte. I have tried 3 times and after the app
installation I tried to reboot to recovery using Quick boot,
i always end up in Odin mode.
I then tried to install using Odin flashing the same version
Downloaded from TWRP.me site. Then it let me load into
my stock version. Then if I try to reboot in recovery
it still stock.
I even tried to use safestrap both version at&t and Verizon
and both soft bricked me.
I have read or scan about every thread and none talk about
S5 a g870w. Beside the att version Wich are locked.
QUESTIONS
My Questions and I really beg for answers even if
You have only 1 answer.
1- Is my phone g870w compatible g900w8?
2-is it compatible to any other versions?
3-when looking should I only look for Canadian version or I can also
use either g870 from at&t,Verizon or international. Or I look for
International g900. Since I guess my bootloader is unlocked .
4- Since only at&t and Verizon are supposed to be lock I guess
I can't use safestrap... so are TWRP and CWM the only options?
5- Can someone help me troubleshoot my installations. ?
6- After I install my recovery a a g870w on kitkat 4.4.2
Should I be able to flash lollipop base custom rom?
7- Is it possible that there is no option for me beside
Unity and stock rom.
BOUNTY
It might not be much but I offer a 20$ minimum bounty for who ever
take me outta this non ending bulls*"t.
Thanks guys. And please I swear I have search and read a lot
just Google my model number and you'll always end up on me
Searching and I seems to be the only one g870w talking about
recovery or custom rom. All I found is how to root...
Jon
1- Is my phone g870w compatible g900w8?
No, it is different flashing anything that isn't designed for your exact model number ( even the AT&T ones which are one letter different) won't work.
2-is it compatible to any other versions?
No, only firmwares for your exact phone will work without someone modifying something specific for you.
3-when looking should I only look for Canadian version or I can also
use either g870 from at&t,Verizon or international. Or I look for
International g900. Since I guess my bootloader is unlocked .
Flashing any other model number but your own risks bootloop/bricking as they although look similar can have different firmware partitions amongst other things.
4- Since only at&t and Verizon are supposed to be lock I guess
I can't use safestrap... so are TWRP and CWM the only options?
If someone can have a look at TWRP is possible that they can make a version work for you: ideally I would say with it being so difficult as so few have your model I would go to stock: root and use xposed, and leave the rest.
5- Can someone help me troubleshoot my installations. ?
Sure, happy to help but don't know how much can help when you are trying firmwares for different versions.
6- After I install my recovery a a g870w on kitkat 4.4.2
Should I be able to flash lollipop base custom rom?
Unless someone has made I've for your model type I doubt it.
7- Is it possible that there is no option for me beside
Unity and stock rom.
Yeah unfortunately this is quite likely.
thanks for taking the time.
Now I'll go private with you for personal things.
but before maybe few extra questions will help the very few others in
the same painful situation.
about compatibility you answered no.
What made me search so bad is that I've seen
other members(g870a) claiming they we're using
g900 roms I'll search for a link.
-Does it mean even tho its risky or
it means that American version have more luck ?
-am I still able to use a recovery like safestrap?
-can I hang myself?
- and if I'd like to have TWRP and a know custom rom
would it be a lot of works for Des.
Is it "askable" are some working for money?
I hate stuck to death I miss my note 3 like crazy. .. damn

New around here. Some doubts.

Hello.
Ever since I bought a Galaxy Nexus and found XDA, my life changed. Without noticing I got infected a virus: addiction to Android.
My Nexus got outdated quickly and now is pretty done and I need a new toy. 3,5 years later I finally got some spare money to buy a new phone. Since here in Portugal the minimum wage is around 500€ and top flagship phones cost around 700€ (and there's no affordable contract to get something cheaper and still nice), I had to wait until now to get a used Note 3 for 300€.
I love the phone's design and above all the specs. There's no other phone with 3GB RAM and Snap 800 for this price and I always liked big sized phones.
Well, I write too much unnecessary info... I need to stop
Let's get down to the point. I will get the phone tomorrow!!
TL;DR
How do I check the bootloader version? I want to flash TWRP right away and maybe install a Note4/5 port or something stock Android, do I need to be careful with the bootloader?
I know from other phones (i.e LG G2) that any custom rom uses KK bootloader and the stock roms use their respective version bootloader. Is this also true for the Note?
Also, which version of TWRP should I flash? Does it depend on the stock rom version that I have?
Checking if the device has 2.3x GB of available RAM, if Odin and Recovery have their stock aspect and if the S-Pen works is enough to ensure that the Note I'm getting is truly original?
Well, that's all. I'm sorry if I'm asking the same questions everyone does. I'm used to Nexus so I'm afraid of bricking the Note with dumb moves. That's why I am taking my time to read every important thread and asking here some doubts that went into my mind while doing the required reading. I have no warranty (no box nor invoice) so I can't afford to mess up with the new babe
Cheers!

Install phone info samsung from playstore. It could tell a lot about your phone.
To make it easy as long as the phone is running with android version 4.4.2 and above you should use twrp 4.4. If 4.3 use the right one for 4.3.

White Note3 do you have? There are several versions made by Samsung.
Regardless of the bootloader on the phone, I recommend using the latest TWRP as the latest TWRP can be used to flash all ROMs and zip files. Find your device from here: https://twrp.me/Devices/
Before moving to custom ROMs, I also recommend installing the latest bootlloader and ROM.
Not sure if your phone still has warranty but if it does, I would not change the ROM or root because doing either may trip the knox counter and void the warranty.

What is the number or version of the latest bootloader?
What is the model # of the phone? There is the n-900t, n9005, n-900w8, etc.
N9005, it's the european unlocked version
The model # is important when asking questions because the AT&T version of the note 3 has a locked bootloader so it's more complicated to flash custom recovery and to get root.
If you want to run custom ROMs, I recommend upgrading to the latest modem and bootloader, install a custom recovery, back up your stock ROM, and try some custom ROMs to see which one you like.
Look for the tar version of TWRP for your phone from here: https://twrp.me/Devices/
You can flash TWRP with Odin.

I'll get the phone tomorrow!!!!!
So, by upgrading to the latest official rom avaiable I'll have the most recent modem and bootloader, right?
Do I need to follow the order you mentioned: modem->bootloader->recovery->backup->croms or can I flash TWRP, backup every partition, flash most recent modem and bootloader (not sure if I can flash a bootloader) and then install croms?
No, only flashing a newer custom ROM won't update your Bootloader and Modem. You will need to flash those files separately via Odin. Then you can flash the custom ROM you want. The order is simple. Get a custom recovery first, TWRP. Then update your Modem and Bootloader. Then wipe the device from TWRP (full wipe, take backup beforehand if you need) and flash the custom ROM of your choice.
Safest way to upgrade the modem and bootloader is via ota update on a completely stock unrooted rom with stock recovery. After the phone is running the latest rom, then start with customization.

Also... with a G2 I flashed a .kdz file (official rom) and ended up with a bricked phone (later fixed via warranty), but I have no warranty in this phone, how can I make sure that the file is safe?
Just check for software updates from your phone.

It says the phone is already at the latest version. I've cleaned framework services and checked again but got the same result.
Try removing the SIM card and moving the date ahead by two days, then try again.

Done that, no update avaiable. Connected to Kies3, no update avaiable.
Is it really in a old version? It's 5.0. Do I really need the latest version to start flashing a recovery?
Also, can I use the recovery without flashing it? I want to check if it works nicely before flashing if it is possible. TWRP can be used to flash any rom right? I'm interested in trying darklord first.
Yes, you can flash recovery without updating. I suggested updating because the update probably deals with the stage fright bug.

Can't find XAA or ATT binary 7 firmware. Please help

I have an AT&T Galaxy G950u with my most recent firmware being g950usqs7dtb1. I flashed a combination file (g950usqu7ask1) to turn on OEM unlock so I could install Havoc (I know now, I didn't have to do all that,) but now I can't get Odin to flash any stock ROMs back to install TWRP. The main error I'm receiving in Odin is FAIL! (Auth).
I've tried all kinds of ROMs but I can't find my original ROM anywhere except some shady site that definitely isn't legit.
When I boot into Download/Odin mode the numbers next to RP SWREV are B7(2.1.1.1.1) k6 S7
The error on my phone is SW Rev Check fail: (ab)) Fused 7 > Binary 1
I realized I probably need a carrier free (XAA) or ATT firmware that is binary 7. The problem is it's so recent I can't find any binary 7 firmwares out there. I've searched Updato and couldn't find xaa firmware for binary 7
Working with patched/modded Odin 3B v3.14.1
If anyone can help I would be so grateful.
Edit: I've tried Frija and it says ATT not supported, and it says it can't find anything for XAA. I've also searched Updato thoroughly and can't find a binary 7 file.
Edit 2: I found a ROM.

Well first off you can't flash any custom ROMs on this device it has a locked bootloader. Oem unlock doesn't matter. It's useless. Garbage. That's all for that. Flash any other carrier firmware and flash the oyn csc not home. It will repersonalize for att as the firmware are actually multi carrier. Att included.

Thanks for the input. I'm trying to flash twrp as a custom recovery but it gets stuck on "waiting for device". I've updated all drivers and have no error in device manager

Hey there @TheMadScientist not following you! haha. Just came across this thread as im researching what elliwigy and jrkruse have done.
To @uberdad search for anything s8 SM-G950 by jrkruse and elliwigy here and you should have a solution if your device is still on 7. Wont be twrp but will be safestrap twrp. You can install a custom rom then.

There are no custom roms. You can only have root on a 7.0 stock system img. Please research more before beginning to pass on information. As well this thread is now old no need to dig up old stuff. I helped out with some of the stuff on this device I know what it can and cannot do. Here wanted to install a los based rom. which is a big no. Add I said to begin with

Then he was trying to flash twrp. Which is a big no. Please don't go dragging up a bunch of old threads we have dealt with. This leads to confusing people

Hi. Yes you are right I should have said Slightly Cooked Rom or Modified System Image. However preferred to put Custom Rom due to the fact the amount of new Customization Enthusiasts here on XDA to make it simpler. Also sure yes USER Root on XDA only obtained on 7.0 (at least public). Little off topic but our team has a *working* root along with our own SuperUser which means for repairs pretty much but if time was put into it could become possibly a semi to full user root. I have used Magisk SU older versions along with our root and had a semi working user root on past Galaxies.. Anyhow we don't really have time, especially myself, to work on an actual user root for every device i/we work on.
In the world of forums threads never really grow old they just go into a deep sleep eventually....Until someone wakes it up with the thirst for knowledge. It's how the internet works when it comes to these here BBS/Forums/Blogs etc. =]
What he asked could be something someone else might ask or attempt trying (he shouldnt have even got as far as he did unless on international variant which makes the Q odd.. haha eh? however i felt the need to straighten it up for anyone who might read and get confused. See what im saying..? along with the previous statement about data no become stale.
The more ya know the smarter you become. Information makes the world go around. .. IMO Always best to keep it flowing constantly added to.
