what are the chances of getting android 9? - Huawei P10 Lite Questions & Answers

Would Huawei even consider developing android 9 for the p10 lite or are the newer devices only receiving it?

I'd say slim to none given Huawei's track record. The only reason I would see it change is if Treble makes it that much easier for them and they actually did go through the trouble of enabling support for that with the Oreo update.

People booted Android P today on our device with Treble, so you will have it, but not officially though.
Better anything than nothing hehe

That's great to hear, however I don't think ROM development for Huawei devices will last very long due to Huawei stopping bootloader unlock codes

Yep I did as soon as i heard about it, but newer users and developers will never get a chance to unlock their bootloader, therefore development for Huawei devices is very limited

Big if Huawei doesn't change partitions again

There's some people who are still waiting for the official OREO OTA update & that was released a year ago :crying:
so my guess is 'Zero'

Well, Google releasing the source code is not the same so Oreo has been rolling out for the P10 lite for a few months. It's possible we'll get Pie in a year. It's just unlikely as Huawei would rather you buy a new phone.

You're quite right...
'Google' OREO update was released a year ago, but 'Huawei' OREO updates has only been about 4 months (I think the OREO 'Beta' program started the beginning of May) - my mistake
Mind you it is still 5-6 months a lot of us have been waiting for an official non-beta firmware update (B197 was released Dec 17/Jan 18 IIRC)...
..... Huawei are soooooo slooowww on updates

Google hasn't updated the feature to enable MSAA on OpenGL 3.0 on stock Android so it won't be making its way to non-Nexus devices either. And it's probably a good thing, too, since 4x MSAA on OpenGL 3.0 at this time might cause performance issues despite the powerful hardware.

I really hope KitKat comes soon. Even LG has started updating at least one device in at least one country on at least one carrier (U.S., T-Mobile), and while I'm sure Sony will, as always, be great at updating a couple of devices at the same time, I think they're still stupidly following the "announce flagship device first, then update older devices" strategy, which HTC and Samsung seem to have left behind.
Come on Sony, hurry up, and be sure to fix the RAM shortage problem that kills apps very quickly in the background (i can barely manage to have 3 apps in the background without the system killing them)!
I'm sure that we are waiting for the real thing. Not a problem for me if we get less bug KK update.
Can't wait though!

Hey, Honor 5X (KIW L24) Gets the Mashmellow Update in the US

Starting today, we are pleased to begin rolling out the highly anticipated Marshmallow update in the US. As part of this update, Honor 5X will also be receiving EMUI 4.0.
Is there anyway to force update it? Update is not showing up when I manually check in settings.
Super pumped to take marshmallow for a spin
I haven't been able to update either... I guess we just have to wait.
Update does not appear here too!
More: http://www.hihonor.com/us/blogs/honor-5x-gets-the-marshmallow-update/130547/
Forced update dial code *#*#2846579158#*#* does not work, fyi...
Between here, Honors' .com site and their US Facebook,
I don't see a Single user reporting the update.
Edit: I see one on Facebook, lol
If anyone gets the update or finds a download link please post here.
In the Facebook thread there's a guy named Mario who got it. The only confirmed one to get it so far if you guys want to try and teach him how to capture the OTA.

Hopefully someone will make a twrp flasheable zip right away. If not I will try by flashing stock recovery and see what happens. ?

ok champ before you get all wired,
1. I know the phone does not come with an NFC chip in it.
2. I know this thread is for the MM update that Honor USA is lying about releasing.
3. I have already search about this in other threads, obviously to no avail.
4. Do you have input/ or are looking to bust somebodies chops on the internet.
Defensive much?
Let me answer your question about the NFC Sim, probably not. Probably not for all the tea in China. And this thread is about capturing the MM update which did come out because people on FB are confirming they got it.

Maybe, the person who got it through HiSuite, can check the app data folder on Windows to see if the update is still there. (it's a hidden folder)

Well it's not obviously stated in the changelog, but it may be one of the "minor enhancements" in #7, although I doubt it. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

"adb logcat" on a computer while checking for the update on the phone. It will always list the update URL. It's a pretty big patch -- 376 MB. Boot and recovery are modified but no separate fastboot. So either that's been added into the normal partition commands, or it's still going to be an OTA to enable bootloader unlocking.
Can't wait to hear from the brave souls who update first have to say. I'm goign to keep my root/twrp for now

"B27" Downloaded and installed. Not all of what everyone/most where asking for, but substantial enough to make a believer out of me. Security patch level at September 1, 'Backup account' no longer greyed out, tweeked signal strength indicator, audio no longer drops out when starting camera and probably a host of other tweeks under the hood.
No announcement about stock images, not good.

2.) Update to B27, then try to unlock via the thread instructions

There's no way in hell they will upgrade P9 Lite to Android O... They were slow to upgrade P9 to Nougat, let alone P9 Lite... Maybe, but maybe, P9 will get Android O, they are too busy with this year's lineup, P10 and P10 Plus... I'm disappointed by Huawei... Nice design, good specs, but horrible software support. Never ever Huawei again.

At last, US variant FRD-L04 receives Oreo

Finally, we FRD-L04 /L14 users will be receiving EMUI 8 (Oreo) within a month time after Honor/Huawei approved B560 update today evening as well as the EMUI 5 (NOUGAT) roll back package B398.
for those whom unlocked their bootloaders; don't forget to relock in order to receive FOTA.

Hello all. Just wondering if there was anyone else still waiting on the Android 8 update? It's April 2019 and I still haven't received it yet. I even tried connecting my phone to my computer through Hi Suite, and it tells me I'm running the latest update. I'm still on Android 7 with EMUI 5. Not sure what's going on. I'd love to get the update though. Any suggestions?
Calm down, this is beautiful for FRD-L04 users, but unfortunately you will receive just B562 update after oreo, then it's the end. End of software support i mean. Honor is making strange things, continuosly update security patches on nougat while forgetting about oreo...as FRD-L09 user (running Oreo since it was officially launched a lot of time ago) i can assure that i've not received any other ota update after oreo and i should manually update even to B562

Same boat here. Been using my device stock from day one and finally got an itch to look into any update past Android 7. Found this thread so I installed Hisuite. Sure don't care what-so-ever for their EULA in their app. It's no wonder folks worry about the security of Huawei devices when you have to give up so much just to get a software update. Anyway I states I too have the latest available updates. For such a great phone hardware wise it feels like a shame how little updates it really got during it's life. Ah, well it still is functionally fine for now so I'll carry on as is.
Does anyone know how I can go to EMUI 8?
I've tried OTA, HiSuite, and Firmware flasher. None of these methods work. Firmware flasher, however does find the EMUI 8.0 upgrade, but even if I proxy the download, it won't show up in OTA update. If I download, it won't flash. Any ideas?
