LG UP: "There is no handset connected. Please connect a handset" - LG Stylo 2 Plus Questions & Answers

Hi,
Am trying to restore my LG Stylo 2 phone, K550 model, back to health after my experiments with different ROMs trashed system files.
So I have installed (in the following order):
1. LGMobileDriver_WHQL_Ver_4.2.0.exe
2. LGUP_8994_DLL_Ver_0_0_3_23.msi
3. LGUP_Install_Ver_1_14_3.msi
4. Uppercut_1.0.0.0.exe
When I put the phone into the download mode and connect it to the PC, Windows says "Found new hardware Android" and opens the Found New Hardware Wizard that wants to install a driver for the new Android device. Since I already installed all the drivers and DLLs that were described [1] as needed for LG UP to work (see above) I am not sure what other driver I should install with the wizard. If I just cancel out of the wizard Windows says "A problem occurred during installation, your new hardware might not work properly".
And indeed, LG UP does not see the phone and does not work properly. Running LG UP directly or through Uppercut results in "There is no handset connected. Please connect a handset" error.
Any ideas? Thanks

Can you change USB port?
possible solutions
install kies and it will install the usb drivers
change the usb port
try to make windows able to get drivers using windows update feature (solves a lot of unable to connect issues)
its stil not recognizing
the phone screen says initializing only. it does not change from that.
First install kies and all drivers correctly.
Then, you need to register 2 dll :
From command line of windows, type the following commands:
cd c:\windows\system32
regsvr32 msxml3.dll ( a message box will appear to inform you that registration is ok)
regsvr32 msxml6.dll ( a message box will appear to inform you )
After start kies and connect your phone (preferably choose a new usb port).
It should work
Had the same problem with my Wave...
GO up to your Device manager (Right-Click on My Computer->Device Manager)
Then see if there is a exclamatory mark on any icons which relates to your phone.
If yes, Just update the Kies to newer version, else try komanguy's method after upgrade...Revert back and tell me your changes

"LG Software" mode error + solution

I've had the following problem which I solved and now I'm wondering if anyone else found it, since I'm afraid it might point out to some hardware fault.
When selecting LG Software mode on the phone for connecting to your PC, Windows (in my case, 7 x64) attempts to install an MTP USB Device, but fails with Code 10: Device cannot start. At this point I (after many trial-and-error cycles) had to select Update Driver for that device in Device Manager, select Browse my computer for driver software > Let me pick from a list of drivers, and from the next screen, pick USB Composite Device instead of MTP USB Device. It installed right away and then 4 other USB devices popped up, which also were installed (using Windows Update). After this, LG PC Suite (and also LG Mobile Support Tool) detected the phone with no problems.
So, were any of you confronted with this?
Just wanted to say I had the same problems following your steps allowed me to get this to work. Thanked!
Thank you so much. This solved the problem.
I'm actually having this same issue. When I click "Show me a list of blah blah" it doesn't give me a USB Composite option. I only get two MTP options, and if I check "Show Compatible Hardware" it shows a bunch of drivers for MTP, WMP, and some other protocols. Any ideas?

yes, but unfortunately i don't have USB Composite Device as a selection on Windows 7 64bit. any other suggestions to get this stupid lg software installed?
After spending over 6 hours on this problem and installing a new windows, I finally found the culprit, it was Xposed Media Scanner, disabling it fixed the problem. Of course if you did not install this module before then the solution is not for you, maybe it will help someone reaching this page from Google.

[SOLVED] Can't connect S8 to Win10 after iTunes install

Hi there.
I have made the jump to the last flag ship of Samsung and since now I'm quite ok with it, but still testing it.
Now I'm facing a not-to-easy problem to solve that involve external stuff then Samsung, but still gives me problems as the Samsung help support is so bad.
I am not able to connect my S8 to Windows 10 after having installed iTunes for helping my girlfriend restoring an iPhone backup on her's iPhone.
I was getting Error Code 9, then tried to uninstall device in Device Manager and then got Code 28 (1st image in attach)
So I tried to reinstall drivers from within the device manager but I got an error in installing the Windows drivers for the MTP Device for an INF error (2nd image in attach)
So I tried to reinstall Samsung device drivers from Samsung Smart Switch settings but that didn't help.
Then I uninstalled iTunes and ALL Apple stuff installed with iTunes so to get rid of all that might have been limiting the correct usb functioning.
I also took a look using USBDeview to inspect my usb device list. I had two Apple stuff linked to some usb ports and so I uninstalled them right away directly form USBDeview.
Now here is what I have when I connect the S8 (3rd image in attach - pink dots is the S8) and this is what those pink dots are (first pink dot is 4th image in attach -- second pink dot is 5th image in attach)
Please give me a solution as I can't connect my S8 to my Windows 10 any more!!
After all that I made an extra try in UBDeview (linked above) uninstalling both the pink dots related to my S8, unplugging device, reinstaling Samsng drivers from Samsung Smart Switch through its settings menu, and then restarting Windows....but no success!!
It was for sure something related to something inside my Windows system files and the INF files related to the MTP Device (see 1st and 2nd images attached in previous post).
So I made an advanced research on the net also involving Microsoft....and I found a solution on the Microsoft Comunity Answers website, where the question posted was: [solved] MTP not working on Windows 10 aniversary update:
After anniversary update, MTP is not working.
I tried with different devices as well as on many PCs.
In device manager I get this:
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
A service installation section in this INF is invalid.

I had same problem. I did the following to solve that and it worked.
(1) Go to C:\Windows\INF
(2) Type "wpdmtp.inf" in search bar provided to the right of the address bar in Windows 10.
(3) Once you found it, just right click on it and select install. It will take a very few seconds.
(4) Connect your device to the pc.
Done.

I have done it while my S8 was connected (look image attached in this post) ....and voilà!
Windows popup message appeared right away telling me to click there to take actions on my connected Samsung Galaxy S8

Can't install Fastboot drivers - windows 10

Hi all,
So I'll cut right to the chase if I may, don't want to waste your time and I appreciate the help.
I trying to root my 'nVidia Shield Android TV Pro 500GB
The problem:
Trying to install fastboot drivers in order to unlock the bootloader.
Steps & Solutions I tried:
After booting the nVidia Shield into bootloader, when connecting it to my Windows 10 64bit PC , I get a yellow explanation mark in the Device manager.
After getting it, I :
1. Right click on it
2. Choose update driver
3. Browse my computer for driver software
4. Choose 'browse'
5. Select the folder SHIELD_Family_WHQL_USB_driver_201801\SHIELD that contains the .inf file
After doing all of that, when pressing next to install I get a message "The best drivers for your device are already installed", which after nothing changes and fastboot is still not recognized.
Also Tried:
1. In the Browse for drivers window
2. Choose Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer
3. Choose Have a disk
4. Browse to the .inf file
5. When pressing next to install I get a message: The folder specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device (The full message can be found in the screenshots attached)
I tried rebooting in driver signing disabled, didn't help.
I have already searched everywhere for the answer, including:
1.The original NVidia Shield Zone
Shield Android TV and Tablet Resource Center

QPST driver install...

Trying to get these drivers installed on windows 10 machine but no matter which driver i choose it always pops up "windows encountered an error while installing driver". im trying to get into qpst file explorer to see the policy_man folder for the carrier policy. im on havoc rom 11 and there is no engineer mode(*#801, *#800) or log kit since im not factory rom. ive tried disable driver signature verify under advanced restart on the pc....no luck same error. ive tried disable secure boot in bios on pc....same error.
ive tried these steps......
1. adb reboot ftm
2. Install (in your smartphone) USB Gadget Tool (https://f-droid.org/es/packages/net.tjado.usbgadget/) and check this modes: ( cser.dun.O , diag.diag, diag.diag.mdm , ffs.adb , gsi.dpl , gsi.rmnet , qdss.qdss , qdss.qdss.mdm )
3. adb shell su setprop sys.usb.config diag,diag_mdm,adb
4. Disconnect and connect your phone usb cable.
5. Go to Control Panel – Device Manager. You will see some unknown device. You should look at the so-called "Oneplus 8T", ignore the others.
Right click on the first "Oneplus 8T" –> Update Driver –> Browse my computer drivers -> Let me pick form a list of available drivers -> Click on I Have Disk -> Show all devices, browse then go to the Qualcomm Drivers that you download earlier. Then do the same to the other "Oneplus 8T". Choose 9018 for both unknown "Oneplus 8T"..
6. Add both ports in QPST Configuration. Only one of them is the one you are going to use. By clicking on EFS Explorer you will know which one it is by seeing X55 Driver in the description.
7. Change carrier_policy and carrier_policy.xml_Subscription01 files
8. adb reboot
stuck on step 5
Hmmm... You do have the regular drivers for the device installed as well, correct?
(ADB) works? Try this - (Let me know if you need 32 bit installer) No need to disable driver signing enforcement.
10.99 MB file on MEGA
mega.nz
64bit - If it needs a password it's GADGETSDOCTOR
If you're getting into the use of Qualcomm engineering tools check out the fine work of KL Joachim Schepke and the #u100 Crew to make QXDM5g and the accompanying Tools available, search QXDM5 , also includes driver autoinstaller.
Uninstall the old ones and reboot first, go actually delete the directory, Qcomm doesn't uninstall very cleanly.
Let me know how it goes,

I have tried this and no luck, this is preventing me from using msm to convert my 8t and possibly unbrick if needed. No matter how I install these drivers this is what I get after reboot
"Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)"
msi laptop running windows 10 latest update

i was able to get device manager to show the device(kb2005) and update/install the driver for that....however, it does not show another kb2005 device, just shows 2 'unknown device'. when i try the update/install driver for the 'unknowns', i get the windows has encountered an error message
with only the one driver installed(shows qualcomm android modem 9018 in device manager under modems tab), i still cant get qpst tools to work without both drivers. in qpst, it shows the correct driver installed as active phones and shows under ports tab....and theres no port to add with add new port

Sorry I was traveling for a little bit - did you get this handled? Sounds to me like you need to make sure that your USB & or wireless debugging is active and not just charging, you can change it on your notifications to transfer files or something like that

Have you tried disabling Driver Signing Enforcement when booting into Windows and then installing the driver?

#3 command should start like this:
adb shell
su
setprop....
Also disable Driver Signing Enforcement, as you'll have to install driver every time you want to use QPST, with it enabled.
