Verizon had it working, but now on replacement axon7, no more VOLTE - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

Hi, I'm hoping someone else on verizon can help me here.
I am on TW (mvno) but verizon works the same, i just dont get all the towers as a full verizon customer does.
Anyway here is my setup. I have a axon 7 running RR 6.0.0-20180511, hellsgate 3.18.109, ver 2.3 & baseband TH.2.0.c1.9-. I think I have B12 bootstack but I'm not sure about that. VOLTE works great on this my org axon 7.
Now replacement came in cuz I have the screen goes half gray issue. Here is the problem. I loaded up my current setup via twrp nfound 3.2.1-7 and everything works its exactly duplicated in every way except for the change I made to go to f2fs on data and cache. I also tried a different bootstack B10-B32 same results so its not related to bootstack or modem as that is the same.
What is really odd is I can pull the sim tray and the option for "enhanced 4g LTE mode" shows up, I put the sim back in and it disappears. My thinking on this is its something to do with the phone trying to confirm my sim capabilities and not being able to. I went over to testing mode and I can try a million times to turn on VoLTE with no change at all after multiple reboots. I also tried sim swaps with old none active tmobile sims and a partially active at&t sim. This did about the same as the sim tray pull out & allowed me to see enhanced 4g LTE mode for as long as that sim was in place and as soon as I swap back to my sim it disappears.
So what is the issue? Could it be the sim & IMEI? Or is it just something on the phone (hidden trigger) that I need to change over. As I said I had this all working, on my org axon 7 with same rom, kernel, bootstack and modem. SO what gives?

I had this same issue. When you got your new phone, did you call Verizon and have them add your IMEI to their database? That's what did the trick for me.

[Q] Roamin Indicator Off

I have been running Nightlies of CM11 everyday as they are released and normally I have no problems. One of them must have tripped something. Wherever "Sprint" is supposed to be--bottom of notification panel and under the signal in the quick setting panel--it says "Roaming Indicator Off." I normally wouldn't mind but with it is the inability to send MMS or connect to LTE.
I've flashed various APN zips to try to fix it that way to no avail. I've tried manually entering the apns and still nothing. I set the phone back to stock using ODIN and LTE and data worked fine. I rooted it again and install the pre unified build of JFLTESPR and data and lte worked, then when i wiped and installed M8 again came the roaming indicator off. I'm not sure what the issue is, but I really would like to get the kinks worked out so I can have LTE again.
It a problem with the ROM that has to be fixed by the developer.
Problem is fixed, it had to do with the the rom not asking for the pin to my sim card. I flashed an older build and used it to remove the need for the sim pin and then reflashed to the most current build.

[Q] SIM card broke my two phones (can only make calls while just 2g is enabled)

Hi, I recently started having trouble with my gf's phone (Nexus 4 running lollipop 5.0, lte enabled, tmo). It started shortly after I enabled a SIM lock pin on the sim, but not sure if that's the cause or not... The phone started to intermittently drop signal, and would not make calls (it would just appear to be dialing, but you'd hear no ringing and never connect). When I'd restart the phone, I could usually make a call. I tried to fix it by restoring everything the stock image, rechecking the apn, making sure stock radio was installed, etc, but the problem persisted and eventually got to the point that voice calls did not work at all. LTE and data worked to get onto the internet, but once a call was attempted to be made, it'd lose all signal. I discovered eventually that if I switched off lte/4g/3g, and only kept gsm 2g on, I could make a voice call. Next I tried her SIM card in my phone (Note 2 on Android 4.4, t-mobile) and as soon as I put her sim in, my phone started doing the same thing. After switching back to my SIM (that was working just fine, before), now MY phone is stuck with the same problem! (Can only make calls with just 2g enabled). I'm at a total loss. Has anyone experienced anything similar, or do you have possible solutions/ideas on how to fix this?

I flashed back to stock image a couple of times via wugfresh toolkit, but got the same results each time. I did, however, just fix my note 2 by removing my sim (the one that was previously working), flashing stock via odin (didn't help in recovery), and then replacing the original sim. This leads me to believe that the sim in the n4 is somehow corrupted and once loaded, permanently changes some settings somewhere. (I hope that's the problem, and not the phone). I'll pick up another sim card from tmo tomorrow and try flashing stock again before loading it. Any idea what would cause this? The only thing I did different was set up sim lock on the card, and it seemed to work just fine for a while, till it didn't... Thanks for the help, I'll let you know if the new sim works.
Solved
For anyone who may be having the same problem, here is how I solved it. I picked up a new sim card from t-mobile, flashed a stock rom via toolkit (with the sim card not installed), loaded rom, installed sim, loaded correct apn. Everything works as it should now.

No Service with Sim Card Inserted

A few days I woke up with no service on the Nexus 6p. This was a few days after updating to the latest oreo build. Sim card seems detected because when I take it out another message shows up "No SIM card - No service", and when I put it back it only shows "No service". Tried putting the card in a Nexus 5X and it works fine.
Tried the following with nothing working so far:
- Switching 2G/3G/LTE and rebooting in between.
- *#*#4636#*#* and turning off the radio, switching between the different options of GSM/LTE/etc...
- Restoring a working nandroid backup
- Reflashing different ROMs
- Factory reset
- Factory reset then flashing ROMs
- Wiping cache and dalvik
- efs fix in twrp
Hardware version ANGLER-VN2
IMEI shows up under IMEI information tab but not under SIM Status tab, there it shows not available.
I live in Ontario Canada, carrier is Freedom mobile.
So now I'm stuck, tried calling google and hwawei and they won't do an RMA because my warranty is expired.
Anyone has any ideas to try?
Thanks in advance.
Not that this is going to help, but this has GOT to be an Oreo issue, myself as well as at least 4 others that I have seen has been getting the No service, or No Sim, mine did the No Sim, then started bootlooping.

No this has nothing to do with O.
Which version phone do you have? H1511 or H1512?
What country are you in now?
What is your carrier? If MVNO state that.
Are your IMEI and phone numbers showing up in settings?
Everyone, please put the most basic information in your profile like where you live, which carrier you are currently on, and maybe even which variant of your phone.
I updated the first post with more info. How do I tell if I have H1511 or H1512? I bought it from the google store in Canada.
More information is good. Please update your XDA profile so the next person trying to help can check there first. You can find the device variant by booting to bootloader (not recovery) and using the vol toggle to navigate to "Barcodes". IMEI should show up there too. Date of manufacture, Serial #, etc. I think you should have started a normal thead, not Q/A, BUT your IMEI and a lot of other information should be showing up under SIM info. That's a problem. Second, you say you did the EFS fix in TWRP. Can you explain how you did this? Did you use one of YOUR OWN TWRP backups which contained the modemst1,modemst2 and restored ONLY those two partitions to your device? Did you receive any confirmation or error? Have you tried using a SIM from a Rogers or Telus in your phone to see if the SIM info shows up?
Thanks for the help, I'll update my profile with this info as well.
in the bootloader the IMEI shows up along with the rest of the info. It's a H1511 device.
The EFS fix is by following this: https://www.theandroidsoul.com/fix-empty-imei-corrupted-efs-no-sim-unknown-baseband-wifibluetooth-issues-restoring-twrp-backup/
is modemst1 and 2 contained in the twrp backup? and if so how do I restore it? in restore options there's system, data, vendor and boot only. I guess it's an option in the backup that I haven't selected?
I tried another SIM also from freedom and it didn't work. I don't have a Rogers or other SIM to try currently.
Right, so if you didn't ever select the EFS partitions when using TWRP Backup, you never backed them up so under Restore they don't show up (so you can't use that method). You can however use TWRP terminal or fastboot to wipe those and reboot. I would be sure to try at least one SIM from either Rogers or Telus. If that doesn't work, then wipe the EFS partitions and let them rebuild (hopefully).
Definitely Oreo issue. Google messed with something and it broke data for many people. I have been troubleshooting this for the last week (Verizon, US, fully stock 6P) and finally found a thread where a Google rep acknowledged the problem and said it was high priority for a fix.
I wish you luck with that one @LucJoe. This has been happening for the past 2 years from MM, N, and now O...and XDA is full of threads (just look). So you just go ahead and wait for Google to fix it for you, LOL. - Not a new issue related to O.
Never happened to me before updating. The data issues manifest differently across different carriers but for some reason Oreo likes to play it safe and disconnect data. I have not been able to get LTE for more than a couple seconds, but will get slow unstable 3G occasionally. Google confirmed the issue here: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!msg/phone-by-google/kw3ZcXd1BVs/7HYuANdoAgAJ
A recent success using terminal from TWRP (or the OS if you are rooted). You can also use fastboot to do the same thing using the commands in the article posted in this Q/A (method 2). Good luck! See thread here.
This seems like it's a different issue described in that thread. I'm not running out of data, there's no service and no connection of at all to any network.
I did find that and try it before posting here. It did nothing to fix the problem. It did say that something was copied over '4 MB copied, at 14.3 MB/s' something like that but nothing changed.
I also have the same issue. Have tried everything including going back to stock 7.1.2 & locking the bootloader. Nothing seems to work. Interestingly, when i pull up the hidden phone diagnostic menu, it shows all cell measurement info which means that the antenna is receiving signals but the phone somehow is not registered on the network?
I can wipe those partitions with fastboot but is it safe? I have never used TWRP and my problems started after updating to Oreo. Is there a chance the official OTA could corrupt those partitions?
@LucJoe- That fix is not for you. That is for users who have no IMEI or phone number under About Phone>>SIM info. Your issue (as I understand it) is a weak and intermittent signal that keeps disconnecting LTE and sounds like a carrier or SIM issue. Why not go get a new SIM provisioned for your phone. That or pop somebody else's SIM in your phone and see if you get a different outcome.
Yes that was my first thought as well. I got a new SIM, then another one. So 3 SIMs now with the same result. I've been on the phone with so many techs from Verizon/Total Wireless and none of them have any answers. If I put the same SIMs into a Moto E4 I picked up for testing, it works fine. But the 6P immediately disconnects from LTE then bounces between 3G/1X.
My next test is to try a SIM from a different network I guess... maybe Verizon is blocking my 6P. Or maybe my LTE radio is damaged somehow.
So I did this using TWRP but wasn't sure if it actually went through or not. I did it now through adb from pc and also fastboot and it says permission denied. Any idea how to bypass that?

Lost 4G LTE

Before we begin, let me just say that, yes, I'm retarded.
Here's the story. I bought the phone from Amazon in Mexico. I was using it just fine on the latest official update with Mexican carrier Unefon (MVN of AT&T Mexico) on 4G LTE just fine.
Yesterday I decided I wanted to give Lineage OS 16 a go.
I tried installing it but failed. I ended up with TWRP saying there was no OS despite having flashed it. Rebooting to system just bootlooped the phone.
So I gave up and went back to stock using Miflash and the stock image from a thread in here.
Everything went smoothly, or so I thought. Now my phone refuses to connect to 4G.
So far, I've tried:
• Swapping the sim to the other slot
• A different APN someone from the mi community forums suggested
• Forcing LTE using *#*#4636#*#*
• Tried to re-register on the network calling my carrier
• Manually searching for the network
Manually searching for the network returns only the competitor's 4G LTE network, and I just happen to have a SIM, so I tried and now know 4G still works on the phone itself.
I have also tried my SIM on an iPhone and the iPhone does pick up the LTE signal.
I'll leave a screenshot of the system just in case. Every suggestion is appreciated.
I have same issue, did you solved it?

OP6T VOLTE and signal?

So yeah got the phone 2 day ago and pop my sim card in everything work as it should...call verizon they do add the CDMA-less SMS work..si,i do bootloadee unlock...and after roo with magisk...i do a,couple module and end up boot loop so i try use a fastboot Rom Stock by Mauronofrio but after reboot i got issue with VOLTE and after 5 minit the signal complete gone...but the weird thing after setup everything up and i figure it out trying to swith sim to slot 2 and bam everything work but today somehow it got the same way as sim slot 1 everything gone...no VOLTE or signal...it just said no service! I been try stock using same fastboot method and even relock bootloader....i check the imei under phone setring it still there and still no luck and definitely switch my sim back to my old phone and everything work...call and VOLTE,Data..i think it a software issue on my OP6T...my question is does there a,tool or such to do fully flash stock include all partition like LG phone has LGup! TIA
Well im on with Verizon tier 2 now...i dont think it a software issue...if software issue when i switch to sim slot 2 it stil not gonna work
Same problem
I am on stock. and having exactly same issue. so not a software issue.
On Verizon cdma less provosioned all worked well for a week. The suddenly no volte and no signal. After a few hours signal is back but still no volte. switched verizon sim from slot 1 to slot 2 and now all work fine.
