[ROM][NITROGEN][10] Xiaomi.eu Weekly | Stable MIUI 12 for Mi Max 3 - Xiaomi Mi Max 3 Guides, News, & Discussion

XIAOMI.EU MIUI
Xiaomi.eu released their version of MIUI for Mi Max 3.
Weekly Beta and Stable are based on Android 10
Both Weekly Beta and Stable are based on China Rom
Xiaomi.eu forums: here
INFORMATION & FEATURES
So why is this rom important for us?
The answer is very simple, Its a good replacement for a global rom. (the global 9.6.4.0 | 9.6.6.0 has lots of problems and stable MIUI 12 has a lot of ads).
This marks the beggining of Mi Max 3 custom roms development and I hope that we are going to get more roms from the community and developers.
Ill be updating the thread with every new weekly release for Mi Max 3 and with every stable release.
Have a great day and happy flashing
NOTE: Anti Roll-back is now enabled on any MIUI based rom 8.8.17 and above and V9.6.12.0 and above, to read more about it please head -> here

report this bug on xiaomi.eu website
what is the bug? can you describe it?

during a call my microphone does not work anymore, so the person can not hear me anymore. It has already been reported ?

Why wipe internal storage before flashing the rom? From what I understand, it's generally not wiped in other devices. and what is the problem with wiping system? its not done anyway by the rom install?

1. We want to have a clean installation for less problems, wiping internal storage will clear the device from folders and files that were on the previous system.
2. Xiaomi.eu doesnt work like a normal custom rom. it acts like an update to your MIUI which is installed over the previous installation of official MIUI so basiccly it changes the previous system. Wiping system partition before installing the rom will cause a lot of problems later and might not even work.

V8.8.3 was released!

Installed Xiaomi EU on my Mi Max 3 today. Very good so far!

Have you updated to 8.8.3 yet?
If so can you send us a picture of your about phone (with the android version, security level and more) ?
Also are there any call issues for you? (Microphone not working?)

Not yet. Im on 8.7.26. No microphone issues but I have only made 3 calls.

Do these need to be updated every time or can you skip a few weeks and only update as you feel like it?

Just a quick question. Can I request to unlock bootloader with the vendor rom installed or do I need to flash another rom first? My Mi Max 3 should arrive tomorrow and it will definitely have a multi language global (vendor) rom on it.
Also, can I follow the guide on the first post to flash Xiaomi.eu rom directly over the vendor rom?
Thanks for any info..

The bootloader will be unlocked by the vendor so thats not a problem.
I suggest not to install this over the vendor rom as the vendor rom broke some partitions on your device and has an unofficial system partition which will be flashed by Xiaomi.eu rom.
Follow my tutorial: here
you will be on latest china official beta and from there follow my instructions for xiaomi.eu

Thank you so much for the detailed reply, I really appreciate all the information.
Just the confirm, the moment I get the phone I would be able to enter fastboot mode, flash the official chinese rom, then return to fastboot, flash TWRP and from there flash Xiaomi.eu and there will be no 15 day waiting period for the bootloader unlock?

Well I can not be sure about that, but when you get the phone go to developer options and check if your device is unlocked, even if it says its not try flashing twrp it might work.

Latest & Greatest, Multilang Dev MIUI v7 ROM - v5.10.16 by Xiaomi.eu [With GApps!]
Edited October 16th: New ROM is out today.... http://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/5-10-15-16.28809/
For those wondering what the difference between ROM options for XRN2 (Hermes):
Chinese Developer: Only Chinese and English, no PlayStore, Official, Chinese Servers Download
Global Developer: Multilanguage, PlayStore, Official, only for some devices, Chinese Servers Download
Xiaomi.eu: Multilanguage, PlayStore, Based on Official ROM, European Servers Download (but also American)
Edited October 9: New Rom v5.10.8 is out: http://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/5-10-8.28692/
I have also just discovered that since Sept 20th, some cool software called WinDroid Universal Android Toolkit v2.5 now supports the Redmi Note 2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2499926
WinDroid Universal Android Toolkit takes many ADB and Fastboot commands and puts them into an easy to use toolkit that supports a ton of Android devices. It's goal is to simplify the process of unlocking a device's bootloader, flashing a custom recovery and gaining root for the newbies of the Android world.
This should make it easier for those not so familiar with Android!
Edited 25th Sept: The latest weekly just dropped v5.9.24 which you can get from here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347822062
ROM thread: http://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/5-9-24.28459/
For the new contestants to the show, this is the best ROM available for this device because it has no Chinese language at all, no bloatware apps and should have Google Apps baked in.
It is a chinese holiday for the whole first week of October so there won't be another ROM for a couple of weeks.
My updater app doesn't show any new versions, because it is unofficial I guess and doesn't work with the updater app.
I am still on v5.9.9 so I guess I will be wiping cache and dalvik cache and trying to do a "dirty flash" and crossing my fingers that it doesn't wipe my data.
Edited 19th Sept: There is now a new version v5.9.18 available here, thanks to the xiaomi.eu forum: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347818342
This fixes a critical bug in v5.9.17. However, one user on the xiaomi.eu forum has reported a wifi issue with v5.9.18, however this version is so new, and one user is not a big sample size.
http://xiaomi.eu/community/forums/miui-weekly-rom-releases.103/
However, I am not 100% sure that this isn't just the China DEV ROM. I am also unsure if this one has Google Apps baked in or you have to add it afterwards via TWRP.
I am still running 5.9.9 which is working great 99% of the time for me, however and I have a bug in which many programs that stream live video, after the video starts, 20 seconds into the steam the audio stops but the video keeps going. Can someone who installs the latest v5.9.18 please test and see if they have a problem with Livestation app, Al-Jazeera app, or NHK world app. Thanks!
This is the changelog for v5.9.17 which is the latest I could find. It is for the China ROM not multilanguage but I assume the bug fixes are the same.

OK Boys and girls, if you have this device, have TWRP installed, then backup all your data and install this new ROM, it is awesome.
When I first got my device, it was chinese keyboard, no Google Apps and even after updating to MIUI v7, I still had issues with contacts not syncing.
I downloaded and installed this ROM which just came out today or yesterday: (I uploaded the file, hosted in my google drive as it disappeared from Android File Host): http://gdurl.com/Ww2J/download
I went into TWRP, wiped data, cache and dalvik cache to start from scratch.
After rebooting, I find this multi-language ROM is great, no chinese keyboard and it asked me for my google account details. The contact that would not sync to my phone is in there straight away.
Under settings -> Accounts -> All -> Google -> Contacts is slow to sync and most of the time just says "syncing now" but I did see it also say it was successful, "last sync 9/10/2015"
There is no Chinese bloatware at all, no chinese ANYWHERE which is good because on the China Dev ROM from last week, the Theme store was all chinese. Now my theme store is in English
Because I am signed up to a Mi Account, it actually restored an SMS I had just sent before I wiped my device, also very nice. Unfortunately still no easy backup for Whatsapp and Viber I assume.
Incidentally, even with an X10 processor and wifi, telling your phone to install 76 apps at the same time still takes a while.....
Again, incidentally, it tells you when you install Aptoide that it contains a virus and even gives it a name, something.expense.aptoide which is probably the payment gateway but anyway, in the older China Dev ROM, this didn't happen, and but it would see Aptoide as a security threat when you did a manual scan of your device, with a "fix" button that doesn't actually tell you what it is fixing so I had to install Aptoide again after I pressed it. Anyway, now I actually like this feature, I mean besides Aptoide, if I install something that might have a virus, MIUI will warn me before I even install it, nice.
Has it improved battery life at all?
What makes you think I can tell if battery life has improved on a ROM I installed 15 minutes ago?
Thanks for this , could you please post a link to the TWRP you used ( and if possible instructions to install it ) ? I'm sure this can be found online but I'd rather have one that worked and which I know is in English.

Sup guys,
So if I understand it correctly the stable version for Redmi Note 2 is MIUI 6.7.5. and if you're prepared to go a bit more beta MIUI 7.9.10/11 is also an option, right?
If I would install the multi-version from Xiaomi.eu (7.9.10) would I be able to install updates from the ROM itself, like OTA? Or do I need do manually download and use recovery every time?
I have uplaoded the original file to my Google Drive: http://gdurl.com/Ww2J/download

The correct stable version is MIUI 6, which came on the device. The beta is MIUI 7, chinese edition, on the official site. The version number for these start with v5.x.x
This thread is regards to the un-official multi-language ROMs which are floating around now. This one is v5.9.9. There is a v5.9.11 around, however the changelog just says something about supporting a tiny change to xiaomi headphones.
I just used updater to check and it said no new updates, it just says I am running v5.9.9, and that it is a weekly development cycle. I think since the updater fully recognizes this is a MIUI ROM, the OTA would work, however I am fearful the OTA might switch it back to Chinese, so I intend to stay on this ROM until they release an official Multi-language version. I don't know if TWRP did anything to prevent OTA, however I made sure that I didn't modify the setting when TWRP was telling me that it could affect OTA updates if i enable a certain setting.
It is confusing because the file name is telling you it is running ON Android 5.0, using v7 of MIUI, and the codename of the device is Hermes, and the ROM version is 5.9.9
....
I'm going to flash this beta ROM because I want to have MIUI V7 so my question is whether this beta ROM is stable enough since the phone is going to be a present and I don't want it crashing all over the place.
Thanks.

Hi all,
Is there any way to modify the grid of the Nubia UI? Number of columns, rows and also modifying icon size. I'm getting crazy searching in "configurations", but I haven't found any option.
I also tried Xposed with XNubiaUI, but it seems it doesn't work...
Anybody can help?
Thanks a lot for your help.

Cool! Franko76, the same guy who helped on ColorOS(Oppo) custom roms.
By the way, can someone upload some screenshots of this Resurrection Remix ROM? Thank you.
Hi folks!
After problem I had with notifications on my Nubia Z11 (Viber, Whatsapp etc.) I changed all official ROM versions I could get (1.19, 1.21, 1.22, 2.02) but none solved the problem. When phone is not used for 10 minutes or more you don't get any notifications till you open screen, or notifications are delayed seriously. Finally I rooted it, installed R.Remix and now I am suing it. But I must say that notifications problem still is there, after someone send me message on Viber or Watsapp I get message after 3-4 minutes, always delay mostly. I have no idea why this is happening in all official rom versions I sued, and it happened also in MoKee, and now again in R.Remix...do you have any idea where is the problem and what need to be adjusted?
BTW R.Remix is insanly full of options, you can adjust every possible detail there, excelent work for the team who made this custom ROM, thums up guys
You need to lock any apps you want not sleeping and even allow them to start at boot, that should help your problem.
How can I lock apps I want to prevent from going sleep and start at boot? There was option in official rom in recent apps to draw app down to lock it, but it didn't make any improvement about notifications. In Resurrection remix there is not this option to lock app...any suggestion?

ROM OS Version: 8.x Oreo

ROM Firmware Required: Miui 9 8.5.x or later
Based On: LineageOS

We need a space to admiring this perfect ROM, thanks OP for opening the discussion thread ^_^
Magisk Module - to change some defaults - values listed below. Just allows me to turn off Noise Cancellation for Video recording, use fluencepro instead of regular fluence Noise Cancellation and enable EIS by default.
Verified that the getprop command from a ADB shell returns the new values. Looks like the Module is working
Build.prop additions
Code:
Code:
# Add EIS and disable noise cancelation
persist.camera.eis.enable=1
#use fluencepro instead of fluence
ro.vendor.audio.sdk.fluencetype=fluencepro
#turn off noise cancellation for audio recordings
persist.vendor.audio.fluence.voicerec=false

Which module / recovery zip file has this patch? I haven't seen the bug yet, but i haven't tried heavy gaming on the device, mainly just casual short games

Backups - Btw, if anyone wants to get SMS Backup, Call History Backup etc, going on Oreo, and you have Root Access (Magisk Root as an example), then you can get it going by opening up a Terminal Window (get Terminal App from Google play).
Then from the terminal run
Code:
su
bmgr run
bmgr backupnow --all
Once its completed, do a reboot, and you'll notice that in your Backup Status, your SMS's, Call Logs, Device Settings etc are now backed up. They should now backup once every 2 Days to your Google Drive, for use if you need to restore your device.
Last time I tried an Oreo Rom, it wasn't backing up, and at that time, I didn't know how to fix it. So I went back to MIUI for a while, so I had the auto backup (yeah I could have used an application for SMS backup, but I wanted the OS to do it )

I just checked out the zip, the file sizes look identical to the ones already in Alexey711's rom. If you look at the change log, he already mentions adding thermal fixes

According to this post, someone fixed the face unlock issue by flashing gapps a second time.
https://www.google.com.au/amp/s/amp.reddit.com/r/LineageOS/comments/5q1awf/no_face_unlock/
I also don't have the option, i will give it a test and let you know.
As for the quick settings, don't know. Is that normally available in LineageOS 15.1? As this is just LineageOS with some extras.
Edit:
Reflashing Gapps enabled face unlock in secure unlock, so for some reason it's not registered properly the first time. So that fix works for me. I am using Micro Gapps package

Yes reflashing brought back the face unlock but the other option seems to be not there .

Yes, after you add your face, you need to go into the screen lock settings and enable the Face Auto unlock feature

Nope, only flash if you did wipe before updates
If you want to get more Miui level battery performance, you can turn on extreme power savings under battery which restricts background processes and performance.
Miui applies a heavy restriction on background processes

[FIX][GSI][TWRP] Mi Max 3 ROMs

What is this topic about?
I've spent quite some time writing fixes for GSIs to work properly on our Mi Max 3.
As part of that, we now have a list of easily flashable fully working Mi Max 3 ROMs to pick from.
This topic will be used to keep track of all fully working ROMs and of course to host the latest set of GSI patches / flash templates.
Available ROMs:
These have been tested and confirmed fully working (sans ROM-specific bugs).
AOSiP
Build date: 2019-05-14
Patch date: 2019-05-17
Flashing guide:
Unlock your device's bootloader.
Flash nijel8's modded TWRP recovery.
Pick and download one of the available ROMs.
Reboot into TWRP recovery and flash your ROM of choice.
Go into TWRP's wipe menu and "factory reset" your device (aka. slide the bar).
Flash Gapps (Opengapps / Bitgapps) if your ROM of choice requires / you want it.
Reboot your phone and set it up to your liking.
How can I get my ROM of choice listed here?
Download the TWRP package template from here!
Grab a GSI of your choice and unpack the system image (if it is compressed).
Rename the unpacked system image to system.img and place it inside the system folder inside the template zip file.
Rename the resulting zip file accordingly, flash it, test it, and after you've confirmed everything's working fine, upload and share it.
How do I enable DT2W (double-tap to wake)?
Create a file named "enable_dt2w" (without the quotes) in your device's internal storage.
Reboot your device.

Stuck how? If you have "unlock" trouble, as in, your PIN won't let you in, use the "Remove lockscreen" option inside TWRP to remove your previous lockscreen data.
No no, when you reboot your phone there is first MI logo and unlocked sign at bottom. I cant get pass that screen.

Before installing their zip, they had some lags in screen transitions and to slide and open apps. Now, everything got more fluid and faster. It was great ... until voLTE is working (and my operator informed me that my device was not compatible with haha).

What vendor is your device on? Many GSI's only start at a particular vendor (Oreo or Pie).

Make sure the GSI you picked supports Pie vendors.
Not every GSI does... and the ones that are still stuck on Oreo vendors are... troublesome, to say the least.
AOSiP supports pie vendor and so does pixel experience but no luck. If i update recocery, will that help? I really wanna try one gsi if lag is now fixed.

The last time I had problems in booting the GSI roms I did the following:
1- I reinstalled the latest global version of Miui Oreo via miflash (Beware of ARB)
2- Logged in the Mi account, enabled the USB debugging and installation by ADB settings to install the TWRP
3- I installed TWRP (nijel8's modded), formatted the data and then installed xiaomi.eu
4- I configured the device and made a backup of xiaomi.eu
5- As I already had the files, I installed AOSIP, without deleting the system, just cleaning the data of xiaomi.eu
6- After the boot, I installed the gapps and magisk.
I never had any problems installing GSI's on my device.
When I was in Miui Oreo, I tested some roms that only boot the Oreo vendor (Bootleggers, PixelDust among others), but I think with the Oreo vendor they spend a little more battery life.
(hope this helps you)
guys, i want to try this but not trigger arb, with .eu or aosp, pixel experience etc.. i'll trigger it?

No ARB on xiaomi.eu as they don't ship firmware into it. No ARB on gsi of course. So no worry about it

So if i install this rom https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/miui-10-0-10-1-10-2-stable-release.47170/ i'm ok and without arb? I get confused because on the image they say mi max 3 has arb, if they mean the official 10.2 has arb, why even put the image in the .eu version? It just confuses people.
So i go with this rom reach setup screen, recovery and install the gsi rom?

Try the xiaomi.eu versions from last month based on installing AOSiP. Today I tried with the versions of this month and did not boot.
I am having the exact same issue. I followed the guide and installed the latest xiaomi.eu 9.3.7 beta and boot no problem then i flash gsi .img and it gets stuck at MI Logo and wont go any further. I have tried latest xiaomi.eu beta, stable, last months, month before that. All xiaomi.eu boot fine without issue but as soon as I flash any gsi .img it gets stuck at MI Logo screen? Am I doing something wrong?
Also the gsi i am using is latest pixel experience arm64 A only.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Same. I tried 3 different GSI roms and kept being stuck on the mi logo... :'(
only aosp gsi works, still getting android.process.media and bluetooth crashes
Edit: instead of com.android.media it was android.process.media
I tried installing Descendant_TwoDotOne. It stuck on the mi logo when pairing it with xiaomi.eu 9.3.7 & 9.3.1. It works perfectly when paired with xiaomi.eu 9.2.21 (or earlier version should work). I guess there may be some changes made to the 9.3 version vendor content leading to this problem.

You're my hero! That did the trick. ;D
So can i normaly flash older xiaomi.eu version without fear of ARB?
OP post updated with a new package.
Changelog:
Tweaked the governor to boost properly and use the 1.6 / 1.8GHz maximum little / big frequencies. (Everything's even smoother now~)

The bug with the wifi is not a bug, it is caused by any router. Each time miui 12 connects to your router or any other router, changes the mac address of your wifi adapter for privacy reasons. You can set it to device default to avoid this issue.

Use orangefox 10.1 stable for encryption / decryption, orangefox 11 beta has bug with encryption / decryption.
If you can't decrypt with orangefox 10.1, you can FORMAT (not WIPE) internal memory to remove encryption.
And don't forget to BACKUP your important data.

Better use Orangefox 10.1 stable. It is based off TWRP and doesn't have the issues the original TWRP had with Redmi 5 plus.
Orangefox 11 is beta and has bug with encryption / decryption..
