[stock] oreo 8.1 - Moto G5 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hello Everyone,
A guy I met on telegram has been able to take a tarp backup for Oreo soak test when official Oreo comes out it will be a lot easier to install than this . This is a twrp back up taken .
STEPS:
1.Download https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/15U7nnQaST4jf-vWP356aKflTrVGvbCIt?usp=sharing
2. Extract if Google made it a zip
3. Copy to an SD Card
4. Insert the SD card and boot to twrp
5. Go to restore
6. Go to the directory where you copied the files
7. Restore the OEM , SYSTEM , BOOT partitions
8. Go to wipe , Wipe dalvic cache , cache , data and internal
9. Reboot system
TIPS:
Don't moan about fingerprint sensor not recognised we know it's something to do with bootloader version
Don't restore boot logo
Make sure if you download the files individually you make a sub folder on internal or SD card called TWRP/BACKUPS/$
$= Backup name
Thanks to @Ukolino for the awesome backup

You're a crack

Sim , sorted

Here's a screenshot for proof

Resolveu amigo obrigado,!

So, the rom works everything except the fingerprint reader due to the bootloader version or what is the exact error? And what type of twrp do I need to use for the restore? Thanks for all. You are a crack

If anyone has issues unlocking (I wouldn't know since I haven't tried it), boot into twrp and go to the file manager, then delete the following file: root/data/system/locksettings.db
From there you can set up your own pin and fingerprint.

Only the fingerprint does not work? everything else yes?

Yes, everything else is working perfectly

Which twrp do I need guys? 32 or 64 bit? Thanks for your efforts!

Everything is fine, except when I make a call, the NET is dropped , because when the call is made within 2 seconds a message appears that says, you can not use the network at this time, probe going back to any other CUSTOM ROM and the call works well, but in the case of this ROM does not work, please have some solution?
since it works very well for me.
Thank you.

Configure ur apns search ur provider APN on Google and put it in manually these are soak tests therefore it's not perfect

I already did it, but it still totally fails, what I like is that people work at 100% and I like people, but hey, this is the first time that happens to me, even thanks, I will try to go back to sotck directly, and install direct by ABD update, maybe there if it works well.

unable to make or receive calls

my phone was working fine yesterday morning. a install some apps like rom manager, titanium backup and z4root. I rooted my phone and then derooted it. now i`m not able to make or receive calls. whenever I make call phone struck at black screen with notification bar and restarts.
please give quick fix (I have stock rom 2.2.1)
Try to see the APN if they are correctly configured. if that dont work, try to reflash with the stock rom...
have u made a recovery? if yes then great otherwise the last option is always there - installing fresh rom though boot manager .
I have already done the hard reset and haven't created backup. I dont know how to flash fresh rom please give information or link.

[Q] U8800-51 CR GB Read-Only Mass Storage and wrong IMEI

Well, Hi!
A little history before the real problem.
My girlfriend bought a U8800-51 phone by my recommendations, because it's a great phone in this range of prices.
The phone had a problem. It reboot many times in a day (10~20 times) So I decided to upgrade the OS to GB with the gingermovida v1.1 ROM.
The phone stopped in the bootanimation secuence. I tried 5 times with the same result.
I downloaded the official 2.2.2 ROM from the Huawei website and put it in the SD card. I turned on the phone in download mode and started the install secuence. But stopped in the 2/2 step with the "Update Failed" message.
I tried to enter in recovery mode without success, with 5 different "recovery.img" files. In a thread in this forum somebody explained a method to back to stock froyo ROM using a .img file and the Roadkil's Disk Image tool, but with a AT&T img file.
My brother has the same phone so i made a backup of his phone and put it in my girlfriend phone. Everything works great! Boot OS and load all the information, 3G work and USB Mass storage work, so I did a wipe data - factory reset and everyrhing works again.
At this point I discovered that the IMEI is the same of my brother's phone. I tried many different tricks or tutorials (QPST, CDMA Tool, DFS, AT Command in Terminal, etc) and nothing changed. In the last try I upgraded the OS using CM7 movida v2 and 3G works, WiFi works, but I still have the same IMEI and a new problem came out. When I plug the USB cable and activate the Mass Storage Mode, only shows a Read Only CD drive with all SD Card files.
In the stock froyo ROM I went to the "Project Menu" and changed the USB options, but I can't remember in what option I leave it. In this ROM (CM7 movida v2) i can't go to this menu and check if I have the same Stock ROM configuration.
Besides, I didn't backed up my GF'S IMEI. So I don't know if it can be recovered.
She's gonna kill me, so I need a little help ASAP!
That's all. So here's the thing:
- I have the same IMEI of my brother's phone.
- Everything works except for the Read-Only Mass Storage Mode.
P.S: I don't know if the different driver that I installed affect something here.
Try to upgrade your phone, puting dload folder on sdcard, maybe it can fix your IMEI. About the mounting, I dont know what is happening, but maybe if you upgrade your OS, it will work fine..
What ROM can I use? The Official Huawei ROM (Movilnet U8800-51) didn't work (to solve the IMEI problem) If I try to downgrade using that ROM the phone stop in the 2 step and then I will need to do everything again.
What about B565? You can download it here: http://www.huaweidevice.com/cn/downloadCenter.do?method=toDownloadFile&flay=software&softid=NDEyMTU=
And I also found this topic, there is a user who says the solution so check it out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1513439
Well, that ROM is for PRO version of the U8800 phone and I have the U8800-51 version. Baseband and other thing are different between versions. I will try the steps of your link when my girlfriend let me try again
Sorry, my mistake :/
I dont own a u8800 51 but the software isnt the same as u8800?
No, unfortunately, like I said: Baseband and other tiny thing are differents :crying:
-.-" Wait a bit, maybe someone will help you
Do you have any sort of backup from where you were when the phone worked correctly?
that's why I don't share backup. The fw on the -51 is tightly locked. I'm surprised they allowed pink screen. Your better off going for warranty. Unless, you can open the background password. I'll look for an alternative fix.

Same phone here, mla-l03, fido Quebec, I'm also looking for the original firmware... after wiping the data partition (to be able to access it in twrp and backup all the other partitions) I'm stuck in huawei e-recovery (twrp is still working).
I may try to flash another ROM, but I'm not sure what to try flashing... can't find anything for my device. I backed up all my partitions (except data).
Haven't formatted my data yet as im waiting for the decryption to come, maybe, well... so far i haven't anyways. Lol
But i messed up things somehow and it wouldn't boot either. So I Unzipped the 1.6 gig version of Nougat (there's one out now for
MLA-L03C654B300D001 for Fido/Rogers as well as C578 which is what I've been using as it works perfect and with full "ok Google" support from any screen) and put it in the dload directory on my SD and rebooted with all three buttons and it reinstalled everything for me and fixed it all up. So far I've yet to find another full version of our OS besides in the Nougat updates. All others seem to be ota update not full version in firmware finder. Themes I had to download and add into the hwtheme directory my self.
hi...could you please share the dload link please ?...i may give it a go...and have the darn theme working again hahaha
cheers

Do you want to back to emui 4? The only way possible to do this is through bluesmoothie backup. The full firmware won't be possible to be applied because nougat has different system partition size, so it will result in error when trying to fastboot flash it the original system.img
---------- Post added at 04:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:56 PM ----------
Oh, just one thing.
It seems it is impossible to have a unencrypted phone with nougat. So don't format data partition, because it will be impossible to boot the phone.
Until xelfmade and others find out how to make twrp work with the encryption, we will not be able to access data partition through twrp in nougat. In marshmallow it is possible, though
Ok thanks...lets say ill stay on the nougat i have now but want the theme manager to wor again....what should i do ?
I have absolutely nothing to complain about nougat (for now hehe)...its just the themes and theme manager thats not working
thanks again
my phone never got rooted or bootloader unlocked...ive upgraded with Firmware finder with a supposed version for OUR mla...and my taughts are that its a disguised firmware cuz now,on my phone it says MLA-L03 but with NRD90M test keys....
or if i could flash with a nougat one that everything in it works....see what i mean
I think that theme manager is broken for now, because we are in beta, not a official release. It would explain the naming too
Ahh...that could be a possibility...lets wait for a while and see what will happend... thanks

First time I had to extract the recovery, boot , and system images from the Nougat release I'm using, thank god not ota, and flash em with fastboot then reboot and then a factory reset in stock recovery got it working. Everytime after that I left the rom files in my dload folder so if it went sideways I could just 3 button reboot and reload back to full stock and start over again with unlocking bootloader then root after first boot.
Please respond to the fist post...nobody gave me a good answer and the post switched subject...

My second attempt...now with,Phone MLA-L03... Version number MLA-L03C654B300 Nougat EMUI5...
still the same problem...phone runs 95% perfect EXEPT for the darn THEME MANAGER that is STILL not working...
When i flashed the firmware, again the HWTheme folder was empty...so,dloaded genuine emui5 themes from emui's website and,the theme manager wont load them .
if this thing, the THEME MANAGER could be fixed ,or a patch well... maybe i would change my mind about reverting to marshmallow/emui 4.1
For now,to have a decent theme with some good options to play with.i'm using ADW Launcher

I've run both versions you are speaking of and I'm currently in C654300 also on a MLA-L03, theme manger is in fact working there are just no themes installed beyond what it loads with as it's a mildly debloated beta firmware, also no Vendor apps preloaded kinda deal. If you click on customize you can still make the theme editor work. I have downloaded a bunch of themes and placed them in the hwthemes folder and they show up and can be used and customized n the theme manager fine.
The ndkeys build number is simply because it's a beta version.. It's not the wrong version just not a final release.
As of yet I haven't found a full version of 6.0 for our variant or a roll back app for going backwards and most have allot of issues trying so wouldn't advise it. Even restoring a nandroid backup is not possible on 7.0 as data encryption is not available to grab a full backup, the data partitions don't work that are out there on 7.0/Emui 5. Hope that helps.

7.12.7_7.1, after that, my movile bootloop every 30 secons more or less
Now, when i turn the mobile on, it tells me that the SIM is blocked, but I tried the SIM in another mobile and it works
A/B partition are there so if device is stuck in bootloop it should boot from dormant partition.
You have to flash stock firmware.
Try flashing the persist.img from every build that exists till now. If you manage to flash one of them the issue will be fixed. I've tested it myself.

Please just follow the guide here to get it fixed: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a1/how-to/ota-official-fastboot-image-n2g47h-7-12-t3728929
As it includes all necessary scripts for proper flashing it is secure to use
In worst case, you can also use the appropriate included script to factory reset at the same time when flashing. If nothing else helps, that should do the trick for you

I tried flashing persist.img, and it works!!!
Now I have 2 differents problems.
When I start my mobile, the SIM Pin page shows the message SIM CARD IS LOCKED - NO SERVICE. My sim works in another mobile
When I pu my pin, I get the message "preparing sdcard - Solving errors"
Please just do a full clean flash as recommended by me earlier and your issue should be gone. At least if they are firmware or software related.
After that do a clean flash and that issue should be fixed.

Follow the guide I linked for you above. You have to use the flash_all script. So please have a look and give it a try.

Have you tried another sim in your phone.
If another sim card works then have you tried changing your sim from carrier. It's easy.

SOLVED:Stuck at PIN input, then reboots

Well, I f*cked up.
Fastboot works, I can flash stock rom via Xiaomi Flash. Flashing completes without any problems. A notification about encypting phone shows up, at 3% it jumps to 100% and resumes boot. Now after each boot, phone freezes at "input your sim pin" and reboots. Over and over again. What can I try, please help :

Try to format data in twrp or stock recovery.
If it does not work flash an android 8.0 or Nougat ROM. Do not lock the bootloader.
Let me guess. From Pie to Oreo or Nougat?

if you can boot to fastboot try to flash stock pie 10.0.4.0 with miflash, after that your device should be able to boot, than unlock OEM and bootloader and downgrade to what version you want

you don't understand.
There are no winners and no loosers.
You are free to donate to anyone you want, but your post boost and encourages a bad attitude.
If people start to solve only paid problems, the spirit of the community will be destroyed.
The problem is with the Pie specific partition table
I write the whole guide from memory, so it can differ a bit.... I skipped some steps ( erasing, reboot, fastboot mode, TWRP loading via fastboot, OEM unlock )
From previous writings I think you can know the skipped steps.
Keep in mind: It is dangerous, you can loose your IMEI ( it will only work again with Pie - or there are some writings at forum how can you manually change it. ).
Steps:
1 - Backup with TWRP (fastboot) efs, persist, modem & make copy to your computer and or to your cloud provider.
2 - Create a new folder in Internal Storage -> TWRP -> BACKUP -> With a new date directory ( the backup already made one, make a new folder, with different date )
3 - Download someone's older TWRP backup from xda (I cheated, I copied the following links ) :
(I'm still a new user, so can't directly write url's )
Mediafire : https COLON SLASH SLASH bit.ly SLASH 2QU5NtC
Mirror: Google Drive : https COLON SLASH SLASH bit.ly SLASH 2UN1DTo
4 - Unpack, and copy EFS to the folder created 2 point
5 - Fastboot TWRP -> Restore EFS
6 - Flash the Official latest firmware from en.miui.com ( If you want to make sure go with EDL mode )
7 - Now, the IMEI & Mac addresses are missing. Don't panic! Download update with System Updates.
8 - When you are on Pie again, restore your first TWRP (fastboot) persist partition
9 - One more System restore
At this time, you will have IMEI & Mac addressees, and hopefully a working phone.
Hope this helps. The same thing happened with me 2 weeks ago. This is how I solves it.
Thank you, I solved it yesterday. Hopefully this post will come in handy for other people!
